The sun was shining, the bird were chirping, and no more hail was dropping on and mutilating kids' heads, so what the hell? Heidi decided that it was as good a time as any for what she needed to announce.
"Hey, girls? Can you please focus on me? I need to tell you all something."
Wendy, Bebe, Red and Nichole all turned their attention to Heidi. Their eyes seemed to dig deep into her skin, peeling it back and exposing all of her insecurities to the world. God, this was a mistake, she should just walk aw-
"What is it, Heidi?", Nichole's voice rung out, seeming a lot louder to Heidi than it likely was.
God, Heidi's best friend was waiting on her to deliver this information. And her other closest friends, as well. She couldn't walk away from this.
"W-well… um, you see…… um, you're all probably wondering why I broke up with Kyle a month back."
"Yeah, what was up with that?", Wendy asked.
"You two seemed perfectly fine", Bebe added.
"Well, I can't complain, since I have him for myself now, but I am curious", Nichole info-dumped.
"Hew… well… I broke up with Kyle because… well, you have to know that it was mutual, it wasn't out of hate or dislike or distrust or anything, we're still on good t-"
"We get it, you two are still friends, but WHY did you break up with him!?", Red cried out.
Oh, shit. Heidi's explanation functions were as bad and off-track as always.
"Ummm… well, I just…. I just realized… that I didn't really love him… I just liked him as a friend because it turns out… I'm gay and I never realized!"
"Oh, don't put yourself down like that, Heidi!"
"She's not putting herself down, Bebe, she's saying she bats for the same team!"
"Well, it's not my fault for not knowing! Tell me, Red, would you have had such an easy time telling what she meant if this was back when kids used gay as an insult?"
"This isn't that time, though! That was nearly 10 years ago!"
"But we were still in fourth grade, and we still are!"
"Really? Huh…"
"Girls, the point is that I'm coming out of the closet! I'm a 100% lesbian, no romantic attraction to boys whatsoever!"
This got the girls' attention on Heidi again. Wendy formed a terrible, gorgeous smile on her face, and Heidi instantly regretted getting the attention on her again.
"So, do you have a crush on anyone?"
"No, I don't."
"Hmm, really?"
"Y-yes."
Wendy seemed unconvinced, but she decided to save her digging for another day. Heidi had just made a huge announcement, after all, the poor girl was probably worn out.
"Well, that's all I needed to tell you girls. B-bye!"
And, with that, Heidi ran out into the school halls, in the opposite direction of her next class. She didn't care, she was just relieved that she wasn't bottled up in the closet anymore.
