Heidi woke up unable to see anything, but she felt a sharp pain in her eyes. After some physical inspection, she realized that she had grown spikes that had torn through her eyes!
Heidi's parents woke up unable to hear anything but their daughter's screaming.
"I'm dying I'm dying I'm dying I'm dying I'm dying I'm dying I'm"
The couple immediately put their daughter in the car without really checking her, driving to the hospital as fast as possible. Once there, the doctor looked her over and instantly knew what was wrong.
"You have a common cold."
"What!? But my eyes have been torn open!! By spikes!!"
"Yes, that's just what happens during a common cold. Take this medicine and you'll feel better in a couple days."
"Heidi, trust the doctor on this one. Common colds aren't that bad", Heidi's dad firmly stated. "They're not even that contagious! Do you feel really bad?"
"Well, physically, I guess I could be worse."
"Good, so we're sending you to school."
"Crap."
When they got there, it was second period already. Heidi's mother handed in the doctor's note, and she was forced to head to class with this horrible eye condition. She could overhear Tolkien talking about her.
"Damn, Heidi's got a cold."
Heidi hoped that the entrails on her spikes weren't that noticeable, but she knew it was a hopeless school she lived in.
3 classes later, it was time for lunch, Heidi's second favorite part of the day. She sat down in her usual spot in front of Nichole, only to be greeted by a toweringly gruff voice.
"Hello, Heidi."
"Hi, Mr Daniels. Why are you here?"
"Nichole missed me, so we agreed to eat lunch together."
"That's great!"
After a few minutes of eating lunch, Heidi heard Annie talking about her boyfriend, Kevin. Heidi hoped her blushing over Annie's cute voice wouldn't be that noticeable, but she was dead wrong.
"Do you like Kevin, Heidi?", Mr Daniels' voice rang out, unwelcome.
"Dad, Heidi's a lesbian. She told us yesterday."
"W-wait, what!? A lesbian!? Like, she likes girls!?"
"Yeah, dad."
Nichole's dad embraced his daughter tightly. "With all due respect, I don't want my daughter hanging around with someone who's going to hit on her."
Heidi could only sit, slack jawed and heartbroken, as Nichole was taken to her family car by her father.
