Chapter 1: I didn't ask to be Isekai…
"Sigh this isn't how I expect my day to start!" These were the words of the 2nd year student of Sobu High, Hikigaya Hachiman. Who was currently cleaning his clubhouse room with his fellow clubmates, the resident Ice Queen Yukino Yukinoshita and the air hair gal Yui Yuigahama?
"Come now Hikiroach, just because you prefer to live in dirty conditions, doesn't mean we should!" Yukino's insulting reply to Hikigaya's words.
"Yeah, Hiki we need to make sure that our club room is clean and presentable for people who want to make a request!" Yuigahama smiled at the fish-eyed boy to encourage him.
Hikigaya was instructed by his club mates to clean the club room to make it more presentable, all he wanted was to go home to his little sister and play his PSP Vita. It took them nearly an hour to properly clean and box up old books, "Hey girls I'm going to throw these old textbooks to the garbage.".
The two girls nodded as he went down the stairs to throw the books away. It would probably be the last box to throw away and be able to go home. Most boys his age wouldn't complain about cleaning a room with two beauties, but he wasn't normal. He arrived at the garbage to throw away the books when a black book fell out of the box. He threw away the box and started to lean down to pick it up. But as he did, he noticed the book's appearance, it was pitch black, worn down and the title was called, "The Mage Killer".
He felt that this was something that could be the start of an isekai if picked it up and teleported him to another world. But, that was ridiculous and only happens in anime, and I grabbed the book. As he did the book began to glow, Son of a…
…
"In a world of magic, where wizards are the heroes, there's a guild, a home, a place where a group of wizards, a group of friends, a group of families, come together to embark on adventures, a place where they can be free, a place where they can be happy, a place where they can be themselves. This is Fairy Tail."
…
Hikigaya's eyes were stinging and his head was ringing, he lay on what seemed to be dirt ground for a moment. As his senses calmed down he sat up from the ground, as he did he noticed that his surroundings were different, he was in a forest that looked like it was from an RPG, He was not in Chiba anymore!
"No no no, this has to be a dream. Yeah, a dream!" Hikigaya was denying that he was isekai to another world, "I just need to wake up. Yeah, I probably fell asleep in Hiratsuka-sensei and would use her punch to wake him up!"
He waited for the punch to come but it never did, "Damn it, this is bullshit! This is like a bad Zaimokuza's novel!".
….
Back in the world of Hikigaya, said character clutches his chest from the pain of the critic from another world.
…
"I need to figure out how to get to my world! I don't want this isekai crap!' Hikigaya was now panicking at his situation, he started to think about people who he cared about, his parents, Komachi, Hiratsuka-sensei, and his clubmates, Yugihama and Yukino. Hikigaya didn't know what to do next, and wanted to curse more until…
"Excuse Me?" a female voice interrupted him before he could throw a tantrum, the fish-eye teenager turned around to see a blonde-haired girl with brown eyes and a buxom and curvaceous body, "Are you okay?".
"Yeah, man! You look like you're about to blow a fuse or something!" a muscular guy with salmon-colored hair and a scarf around his neck.
"Aye Sir!" and what was the most shocking thing he could ever expect from a flying blue talking cat? With that after the teleporting to another world, a cute blonde girl talking to him and now finally a talking blue cat, was the moment his brain shut down and caused him to faint like a girl, a man! Hikigaya Hachiman fainted like a man! Yes, sir like a man!
…
"Oh god he fainted!" This was Lucy Heartfilia, the newest member of Fairy Tail and Celestial Wizard. She was now panicking about the fainted black-haired teenager.
"Huh, what with him? It's like he has never seen a talking cat before?" Natsu Dragneel, the resident fire dragon slayer of Fairy Tail, who can see doesn't understand what is normal for some people.
"Aye, sir! He must be a weirdo!" Happy he is a flying cat, and that's all!
"The only weirdos, here are you two! A talking cat isn't normal by any means!" Lucy scolded the two for being idiots, "Come on let's pick him and take him to the guild!".
Natsu grabbed the knocked-out stranger over his shoulder, but as he did the dragon slayer could not help feel strange. As if his body was telling him to drop the guy, but in typical Natsu fashion ignored it and made his way to the guild.
Lucy continued to stare at the mysterious stranger on Natsu's shoulder, she was able to hear his words of frustration. She hoped to figure out what was going on with him.
…
When Hikigaya opened his eyes to see he was in a room similar to those you see in fantasy manga, causing him to grumble, "Aw, wasn't a dream!".
He thought waking he would be in his comfortable room in Chiba, but with his luck, he knew he was for certain he was isekai. He got up to see his student jacket and shoes were taken off, and saw there was a bowl of stew and a glass of water. Hikigaya's stomach growled, the stew smelled delicious so he decided to eat. He must have been out cold for a while, as he didn't hesitate to scarf down the stew and bother to see if it was poison or not.
As he finished the stew the door that led to his room opened to reveal a small elderly man with a staff in his hand, "I see you awake young man, My name is Makarov Dreyer. What is your name?."
Hikigaya knew for a fact that elderly men in fantasy anime were considered to be masters or guides for the protagonist since they were powerful. So he needed to make sure not to let his Hikigaya's way of speaking out, since he in no way wanted to get beaten by a midget, "My name is Hikigaya Hachiman."
"Hmm, Hikigaya? That sounds to be a name from the eastern country!" He then gave him a stare down to maybe level him out, but then quickly changed his expression to a small smile, "I can tell you aren't around here, may I ask where you came from.".
Hkigaya couldn't help but feel hesitant to give this old guy his story, he didn't know what he did to him if he did. But, as he continued to look at the old man he couldn't but feel a sense of a familiar feeling he got from Hiratsuka-sensei. That all Makarov wanted to do was to help him, he sighed and decided to go against his instincts, "Fine, but you need to know it might be strange..".
…
After Hikigaya explained his isekai mishap, Makarov didn't say anything, "I see I figured as much."
"Wait, you believe me?" Hikigaya was stunned by his words.
"Yes, you aren't the only one in our guild to be teleported from another world." But before Hikigaya could ask to see the person, Makarov raised his hand to stop him, "Sady I don't know where that member is at the moment. Your best chance to meet him is to wait here, in our guild.".
Hikigaya wasn't surprised that his luck would turn out like this, "So what is this guild?".
Makarov gave him a grin, "Why the best guild in Fiore my boy! Fairy Tail!".
"That sounds a little dumb." Hikigaya could help but release a snarky remark on the guild name, "Crap I didn't.."
"Ha ha ha, Don't apologize, lad, the name is quite strange!" Makarov gave out a laugh at his remarks, and as he finished laughing he looked up at the boy, "Now, that joke aside, I like to ask about your magic! It's quite strange.".
"Huh magic?" Hikigaya couldn't understand what he was speaking about, he pretty sure felt that he didn't have magic. He still felt he was still the same old Hikigaya, wow that sounds even more depressing than it should have been.
Makarov was generally shocked as was remembered a while ago when he arrived over Natsu's shoulder…
…
Natsu dragon slayer looked tired and a bit short of breath, "Hey gramps! We brought this, woah! Man, I feel tired!".
He dropped Hikigaya on a nearby table, Lucy scolded Natsu for his reckless action. Makarov then began to look at Hikigaya and felt something different about him. It was like he was different from everyone as if the magic wasn't getting near him and disturbing its flow like some sort of void. In all his life he had never seen anything like this before, "Have an empty room for him and prepare a meal for him as well when he wakes up I have some questions for him.".
…
"well you see my boy, it seems like magic, tends to avoid you as it disrupts its flow!" Makarov tried to give his best example of what Hikigaya magic was, more accurately Anti-magic.
Hikigaya couldn't feel indifferent about this explanation, that is mere presence causes magic around to avoid him. Wow, that felt sad and depressing to hear, magic was avoiding him. It would be safe to assume that he would be able to have the overpowering magic most isekai users gain. Only Hikigaya Hachima would be someone who would be an exception to the rule, "So would you know what kind of magic I have?".
"Hmm, If I could be safe to say it is some form of Anti-magic." Makarov gave a guess on the nature of the magic that Hikigaya was, "But, now I'm not quite sure with my answer my boy, but it could be something else entirely. I'm not quite sure."
Hikigaya couldn't help but hear the unsure words Makarov spoke, was it because of the book he picked up? He sighs, "So now what am I supposed to do now?".
It was at that moment the old man smiled, "Well why not join my guild Hikigaya!".
Hikigaya couldn't help but feel suspicious of the old man's invitation, Makarov falls under that wise elderly man most fantasy settings have. But, he couldn't let his guard down since he couldn't blindly trust anyone in this world, "I know you are a stranger in this world, Hikigaya, and I cannot help but want to help a lost child. Here, in Fairy Tail, it does not matter what your previous walks of life were, once you become a member of the guild you are family. Allow Fairy Tail to be your temporary home and help you find a way back to your home.".
Hikigaya couldn't help but feel the speech to be a bit cheesy and the whole idea of everyone having family in their guild. He couldn't agree with the whole aspect of the guild ideas, but he could see the advantage of having a place to stay and find a way home, "I don't have many options at the moment, so I guess joining Fairy Tail?".
" Excellent, why don't we.." Before the master could get Hikigaya acquainted with the guild, the local dragon slayer of Fairy Tail kicked down the door.
"Hey gramps! Has that guy woken up already?" Hikigaya could tell that this loud obnoxious pink-haired idiot in front of him oozed the main protagonist of a shounen anime, "Oh, You're awake the name Natsu Dragnel!".
"Oh, weirdo woke up! Names, Happy!" The annoying mascot character of the show, but he was a cat got some Hikigaya points.
"Dang it's Natsu, I told you not to barge in!" Then finally the main heroine and most likely the main source of fanservice from the look on her body, "Oh great you're awake! My name is Lucy Heartfilia, glad you're okay.".
Hikigaya could not help but feel the same level of niceness from this Lucy girl that he got from Yuigahama. She mostly was being nice to make herself look good, heck she even had big ches…. No Hikigaya do not let thoughts such as those in your mind. Focus!
"Alright he's fine! Now leave all of you. I have an announcement to make in the main hall!" Makarov was waving off the three individuals who entered. Hikigaya hoped the others wouldn't be similar to Natsu, oh wrong how he was.
…
Hikigaya saw that the guild was nothing but a chaotic mess, Makarov announced the fished-eye teenager joining Fairy Tail. After that the whole guild celebrated because of it, Hikigaya felt it wasn't necessary since he wasn't worthy of it. During the party, he gets acquainted with some of the members: an ice mage who seems to be easy to talk to but, appears stripped out of his clothes Gray Fullbuster, a loud self-proclaim real man Elfman Strauss, a functioning drunk card user Cana Alberona, Macao Conbolt & his friend Wakaba Mine vets in the guild, a playboy that went by the name Loke, Levy the apparent Bookworm of the guild and her two admires Jet & Dory and Mirajane Strauss that was the older sister of Elfman. After that he stopped trying to memorize names, the last one he barely remembered was called Nob.
Hikigaya felt exhausted from all of this social interaction, a mob character like him wasn't used to it. A glass of juice was brought to him by the white hair bar keep, "You look like you might need this!".
Mirajane smiled at him, and he accepted the water. Hikigaya was able to notice a crack in her smile, not just hers but everyone in the guild. He was a keen individual on seeing the hidden emotion some had under their exterior, it's something he understood very well. Makarov said this guild was a place where anyone could join, each of them must have a past that haunted them, and he hoped wouldn't need to be there to help others. He was not in the service club anymore, "Thanks, Mirajane I am not used to umm… Parties.".
"Well you're in Fairy Tail! Expect to have more of these parties in the future!' The barmaid kept up her smile as she cleaned, "You get used to them eventually!".
"I highly recommend that you don't Mirajane, I prefer to exclude myself from such things!" Hikigaya knew what his place in any world was, and that was not in any group event.
Mirajane continued to have a look that she didn't believe me before a brawl occurred and everyone was fighting each other. Out of nowhere came tumbling with a fist of fire, out of instinct Hikigaya stretched out his hand. Before the flaming inferno could touch him, he subcontinental released a purple aura and it began to decrease the flame, then when it reached his hand the spell died. Hikigaya couldn't help but be surprised, what Makarov said must have been true about him having Anti-magic. But, too bad he didn't have the strength to stop the dragon slayer and launch in the air.
When he landed, it was a surprise to see the landing wasn't rough but soft. Really soft actually, and thus luck must be non-existent since he was on top of Mirajane's body with his face between her chest. With one question on his mind "Why?".

Please review and ideas on better writing Hikigaya would be great…
