-Port Island-
Around the busy streets of Port Island, a twin brother and sister are passing by to head for the train station. One of the twins is a girl with auburn hair and red eyes with hair clips. She turns to her blue-haired twin brother. "Big bro, hurry up! Or, we'll miss the next stop!"
He didn't say anything as he looks at his sister. He briefly takes off one of his headphone piece from his right ear and said to her, "Okay." And followed his twin sister to the train station.
Music blaring as he puts back his right headphone and walking up the stairs with his sister. People chatting and walking by like there was nothing in the world.
-??-
Inside a dorm building, a girl was holding a gun-like object that was labeled "Evoker." She has light-brown hair and wears a pink cartigan along with a school uniform.
"Just..." She said, shaken at the object in her hands. "Hold it to my head...pull the trigger..." Her wrists are shaken. Her heart beating as the water from the sink runs.
But then when fear came to her mind, she dropped the object and fell on the floor, her back against the wall. "I...I cannot do it..." She whimpered and she hugged her knees. "I just can't." She then sobbed.
-Iwatodai-
The twins are in a train sitting by a near window. The girl is looking at it while her brother did the same while listening to music.
Neither of them say anything. While the girl wanted to start a conversation, she didn't want to bother her brother. It was dark.
"Attention all passengers, due to an incident we must take another route. We apologize for the sudden delay." Said the announcement on the speaker.
"Oh, now we're going to arrive late." Said the girl. The boy then turns to his sister. "I'm pretty sure we'll still be able to get to the dorm."
"We are now arriving at Iwatodai. I repeat, we arrive at Iwatodai. Thank you for riding with us tonight. We hope you all have a safe arrival."
The twins then walked off the train station. They looked at the clock, the time is now 12AM.
The sky is now green, and there is a mist of fog. And the strangest of all, coffins in the place of the passengers walking out are there as well. "Minato..." The girl began to point out the occurrence with worry.
"Minako, let's just head to the door." He said to his sister.
The twins then ventured around the town, more coffins are sitting around the streets. To Minako, it was fitting for a horror movie. And blood puddles are around the corners. Minato grabbed his sister's hand as he attempted to get to the dorm as fast as possible.
They then looked at the moon, and it looked a little too close from the sky. "Is the moon supposed to be like this?" Minako asked.
"Not sure." Minato replied. They briefly stared at the moon before continuing their way to the dorm.
"Are we dreaming this?" Minako asked. It's not that she is scared. But rather afraid for her brother's life. Minato then placed a hand on his sister's shoulder, silently convincing her that it will be okay. But even he doesn't think so.
The two then arrived at the building that was on the map. "Well, this is it then." Minako said. "I hope there are some others awake to greet us. I don't want to scare them if they aren't." Minako said.
The twins then entered the dorm building. It was dark, and nobody is around. Amd there was a receptionist desk nearby. But to their confusion, there was a young boy dressed in prison uniform. "Welcome. You arrived very late."
The twins saw him disappeared and then he reappeared in front of them. "Now if you want to proceed, you must signed here." A folder was flipped opened to reveal a contract with two signature lines for the twins to sign.
"It's a contract." The twins looked at the contract, unsure about whether or not to sign it. "There's no need to be scared. It says here that you two need to take responsibilities for your own actions."
The twins, are at first reluctant. But seeing that it must mean something, Minato is the first to pick up a pen and write down his signature.
Then it comes a second line, and Minako takes a turn to sign it. Then the boy takes the contract as he closed his eyes. "Time is something no one can escape. It delivers us all to the same end."
"Huh?" Said Minako. She looked at her brother, who is just as confused as he is.
"You can't plug your ears, or cover your eyes." The mysterious boy continued. "And so, it begins..." The boy then dissppeared into the dark mist. As it clears up, they heard a voice.
"Who's there?!" The twins then turned to see a girl their age with light-brown hair and wearing the school uniform as she appears to be shaken. "How are you here at this hour?!"
"What are you talking about?" Minako blinked. "And is that a...?" She paused. Seeing a pistol-like object on the girl's leg, Minato gets in front of his sister to shield her from what might come next.
"Wait, Takeba!" Another voice is heard. The lights went back up from what the twins assumed to be a blackout. From the stairs revealed a red-haired young woman with high-knee boots. She is also wearing a school uniform.
"I didn't think you two would arrive so late." The twins looked at each other as a lot happened in one night. The red-haired student continued. "My name is Mitsuru Kirijo, I'm one of the students living in this dorm."
"Who are they?" Asked the brown-haired girl.
"Transferred students. It was a last minute decision to assign them here." Mitsuru said.
"Is it okay or them to be here?"
"We'll have to see."
The twins are still in a state of shock. But nonetheless, they knew they must have reason for having a weapon with them. As Mitsuru also has the gun-like object as well. "This is Yukari Takeba, she'll be a junior this year with you both."
"Call me Takeba." Yukari said.
"Nice to meet you." Minako began.
"Pleasure to meet you too." Minato continued. "Just one question. Why do you have a gun?" He asked. Yukari blinked before realizing she still has the weapon. "Oh...um...It's sorta like a hobby?"
"Hobby?" Minako tilted her head and blinked her eyes in confusion.
"You know how it is these days. It's for self-defense." Mitsuru explained. "Of course, it's not a real gun." She assured.
"Oh, I get it! It's just to scare off the burglars!" Minako deduced.
"You can call it that." Mitsuru adds. Minato, however, walked passed the three girls. Which annoyed Yukari. "Hold on!" But Minato kept walking after Yukari called him.
Minako then followed him. "Sorry about my brother, he's had a long day." She said.
"Brother?" Yukari blinked.
"Twin brother, actually." Minako clarified.
"Oh." Replied Yukari. It was a surprise since the twins didn't look alike. "It's...fine. I guess."
"Minato, your dorm room will be on the second hall. Minako, yours will be on the third floor."
Minato said nothing as he heard this. And walked upstairs. "Thank you." Minako said it and went with him.
On the 2nd floor as Yukari led the twins to their new rooms, they head for Makoto's first. "This will be your room for now." She said.
"Thanks." He simply said.
"If it's okay to ask. Is everything okay on the way here?" Minako and Minato looked at each other. Unsure on whether or not they should tell her about the strange scenarios where there are blood puddles, coffins and the power out around midnight.
On the one hand, they thought about telling her. But on the other hand, they weren't sure if she will believe them. So they refrained from saying anything that might sound crazy. "Um...yeah. Everything is fine. Right, big bro?" Minako lied.
"Sure." He agreed.
"I see." Yukari went along with the reply. In her eyes, it seemed as though she was sure they saw something. But that is for another day. "Okay, any questions?"
"What's the contract for?" Minato asked. Minako blinked at this question. As they remembered the contract they signed. This left them to wonder if that was a school-related contract.
"What contract?" Yukari asked. Judging by the reply. There was no way for her to know anything about the unknown child and the contract. The twins decided to leave it as unknown. As more answers will be found in the future.
"Um...never mind." Minako said.
"So, is there anything else you guys want to add?" Yukari asked for more details.
"Not that we know of." Minato replied. Yukari sighed as she shook her head in dismay. "You two really didn't know, didn't you?"
"Huh?"
"Anyway, I have to get going. Come on, Minako. I'll show you your room too." Yukari said before walking.
"Okay." Minako replied. But before she follows Yukari to the dorm room, she turns to her brother one last time before continuing. "Night, big bro!" She said with a cheerful smile.
"Night." Minato replied to his sister before he heads inside to his room.
-??-
Minato and Minako were being monitored on screen as they slept. Neither of the twins are aware of the cameras in their rooms.
Yukari and Mitsuru are in another living room watching the screen. "No changes so far. They don't seem to be transmogified." Mitsuru said.
"This is just wrong. We shouldn't be spying on them like this. They were okay when they went through this time at night." Yukari poibnts out, given that they are watching them in their rooms. To Yukari, it was an invasion of privacy. But Mutsuru has her own reasons to keep watch on the twins.
Behind them is a man, possibly in his 40s. Long brown hait amd reading glasses. "Now now. There is a possibility that they could have potential. Have they said a word about the surroundings?"
"Not that they said anything. But..." Yukari paused as she thought it through.
-Tatsumi Port Island-
A young boy, around 5th grade, wanders around the streets. He wore an orange t-shirt, and brown shorts. He was shaken to see the coffins and the blood streaks. But he remained calm as if he had seen this before.
"Whenever it strucks midnight, it gets scarier at this time. It's a shame nobody else is seeing this. But it's better this way. Have to get back to–" Then the boy bumps into someone.
"Whoa!" The boy turns around to see a girl with silver hair, and also his age. Wearing a school uniform. The boy is relieved to see a person, as it gets lonelier around midnight with everyone else turned into coffins.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to–" Before the boy can continue, the girl smiled at him. "It's okay. Are you lost?" The girl asked. For some reason, she didn't seem to be scared around the strange surroundings.
"Um...no...I know where my dorm is. What are you doing in the middle of the night?" The boy asked, confused foe why a girl his age is calmly alone in the dark. Especially with circumstances that were never normal in the middle of the night.
"I was going to ask you the same thing. What were you doing in the middle of the night?" Asked the girl.
"I was warming up for soccer practice on the first week back to school. Hey, you're not the only one seeing..." The boy paused as he looked around to see the coffins, and then the moon. "...this. Are you?"
"If you're referring to the coffins. And the moon getting bigger. Then yes. Say, want to walk you back to the dorm? It's not safe if either of us are alone." Asked the girl. The boy was hesitant. But he felt comfort as if for the first time. Somebody understands him more than everyone else.
"I don't know. Maybe if you're okay with it. But can I ask your name?" The boy said, trying to use a calm demeanor. This caused the girl to giggle. "You know, you are something else. My name is Misuki Izumi. I'm a 6th grade student."
"Ken Amada. That's my name." Misuki then takes his hand to shake it as a means for greeting. "Well, looks like we're friends now."
"Hey, you two!" The two preteens turned around to see a young man with baggy eyes, and a red coat and a beanie. "It's late out there, and you should be...huh?" He paused as he glanced at Ken.
Ken and Misuki are confused. "What?" Ken asked.
"You know him, sir?" Asked Misuki.
"Never seen him in my life. But you two...head back home already! It's passed curfew!" Said the young man. And with that, the two young students left to head back to their dorms.
-Iwatodai Dorm-
Minako already got ready dressing up in her school uniform. As she tied her hair into a ponytail, she checked her cellphone to see the time. It is now 6:22 AM in the morning. "Okay, just need to get there in a few minutes."
She walked towards the second floor to check to see if her brother is ready. As she puts her headphones in her bag, she accidently bumped into someone. "Oh, sorry."
She was stunned to see who is in front of her. Minako is staring at a young man, possibly a senior student like Mitsuru in the dorm. Silver hair and a red vest for his uniform. "No, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." Said the young man.
"Are you a student living in this dorm?" Asked Minako.
"Yeah. You must be one of the transferred students. I'm Akihiko Sanada." Said Akihiko.
"Minako Arisato. My brother and I just got here last night. Nice to meet you, Senpai. I supposed you're getting ready for school too?"
"Oh, right, I am. I gotta get going. I'll see you around." He said as he walked to the stairs. But not before he turned around to ask her something. "But before I go, I need to ask you something. Do you see anything strange the other night you and your brother were on your way?" Akihiko asked the same question Yukari had the other night.
Minako seemed to noticed that they had been acting strangely. But decided they won't believe her or Minato if they saw anything. "Um...What are you talking about?"
"..." Akihiko remained silent for a mere second before heading his way. "Never mind. Maybe for another time. Just be careful." With that, Akihiko went downstairs to head for the school. Leaving Minako confused. "Well, that was weird. Wait...do they saw what Big Bro and I saw last night?"
Minato then came out of his room in his uniform. This brought a smile to her face to see her brother waking up early for the first time. In most mornings, he would be tired. "I figured you were going to wake me up."
"Finally, some morning spirit! We might have time for coffee before we leave." Minako suggested.
"I guess that's fair." Minato replied. Then Yukari came to check on the two. "Oh, hey you two. You ready to go? I'm just tasked to show you guys to school." Yukari said.
"Yeah. We're ready. Let's go, Big Bro!" Minako grabbed her brother's hand and pulls him with her to head out for the first day. Yukari can't help but laugh quietly at this sibling dynamic.
Wow, even I wish I have siblings.
To be continued...
Author's note: Just thought the beginning of Persona 3 Reload might need a little more scenes. So in this fanfic, both the male and female protaginists appeared as twins.
Also, I will be adding a Prequel fanfic of Persona 3 which will be a crossover withYoung Justice starring Mitsuru, Akihiko and Shinjiro as first-year students with the member of YJ cast, Kaldur'ahm, Donna Troy and Roy Harper. Also, there will be a Young Justice Redux coming up. It might take some time though.
