Cross Ange:

Soldiers from Another World

Prologue

"Sometimes life can be very easy to people while it can be very difficult for others it all depends on how far you will accomplish your goals or how the world sees you for who you are."

"Hello My name is Daniel Espinoza a Staff Sergeant of the US Army Rangers, have you ever wondered what the future would look like would we all be civilized, and advanced, or would we go back to our animal instincts with no resolution? Honestly, I'm fine with either one but what my company and I would witness would be far beyond our comprehension."

Fort Irwin

Barstow, California

It was a hot sunny day with Helicopters, and Jets flying through the Skies. Every soldier was getting ready for their next training.

Among them was a Hispanic American named Daniel Espinoza age 24 who was recently promoted to Staff Sergeant after his courageous work in Afghanistan, he came back to the States after the evacuation and stayed in California to do more extensive training with the rest of his Company.

Daniel was getting his M4A1 with a reflex sight, foregrip, and laser sight, he grabbed his Sig Sauer M17, along, While listening to "Fortunate Son" on the radio.

"Theirs nothing better than listening to a classic." Daniel thought in his head while jamming a little bit to the music.

Then after the song was finished, the radio cuts to a Special News Bulletin.

"We interrupt your broadcast with breaking news."

"The latest 'DRAGON' sighting has increased over the beginning of the new year, people have been seeing not one but multiple DRAGONS on the same day along with what eyewitnesses appear to have seen a black hole of some sort, we don't know if it's real or just some Hollywood stunt though many people claim to be real and have footage of the events."

Daniel just looked at the radio. "Yeah I doubt that shit's real." he said while shaking his head.

"In other news, the war in Ukraine is still ongoing despite many sanctions..." As soon as he heard the radio mentioning Ukraine he turned it off.

"I think I've heard enough of that." he said to himself. He looked at a photo of his parents and whispered. "Y'all still keep an eye on me okay." with a smile and put the photo in his pocket.

Daniel then left the barracks and was heading to the firing range to meet up with his company.

"Hey, Staff Sergeant!" said the voice behind him. Daniel turned around to see three of his squad mates, Sergeant Richard Johnson, Corporal Kimberly Ortiz, and PFC Kyle Lynch. They were just coming out of the barracks with their uniforms on, including their weapons and equipment as they were heading to the firing range.

"Sargent Johnson, Private Lynch, Corporal Ortiz what can I help yall?" He asked with a neutral expression

"Nothing sir, we were just wondering where the rest of the company is?" Johnson asked while pointing his finger in different directions.

"Our company is stationed at the firing range, today soldiers." Daniel said while pointing to the west side of the base.

"Thank you, sir!" Lynch said while saluting with Ortiz, and Johnson followed suit after the salute they then took off to join the rest of the company.

'Sigh' "I'm never gonna get used to that." Daniel said with a smiling face.

"Well, you better get used to it Staff Sergeant." Daniel turned to the sound of the voice and saw an African American man in his 30s who stood there with a smile on his face. Daniel then saluted his superior. "Captain Davis Sir!" he shouted.

Davis returned the salute and said. "At ease." while putting his hand down with Daniel putting his hand down as well. "Follow me, Daniel." Daniel and Matthew were walking together down the barracks.

"Listen Daniel I know things haven't been easy ever since last year when we were ordered to leave Afghanistan, the whole evacuation was FUBAR." Matthew said while patting Daniel's back.

"Yeah I mean don't get me started on that." Daniel replied with a disappointed look. He really didn't want to talk about it at all the way it was planned and all it did just made him hate himself.

"Yeah I understand, but hey you can't let what happened back then to dictate your life you gotta rise up from your failure and achieve your goal in life." Matthew said while pointing at the sky.

Daniel thought about it. "You know what you're right." he replied with a smile.

"Now get your squad at the firing range Staff Sergeant you'll need to keep an eye on the privates." Captain Davis ordered Daniel.

"Sir, Yes Sir!" Daniel Shouted with a salute and then jogged off to regroup with his men.

11:00

Daniel finally made it to the firing range where he saw his Squad members firing a range of weapons

Daniel prepared his M4A1 and started shooting at the targets presented to him.

He looked to his left to see SPC Nathan Garcia having trouble with his M240, Daniel was about to go help him out until...

"Hey Garcia you having trouble!" yelled a female voice Garcia looked up to see where it came from and it belonged to SPC Trish Park who was walking towards Nathan.

"Here allow me to help you!" she yelled due to the gunshots happening around, while she put her M249 SAW down to help Garcia.

Everybody knew that Nathan had a crush on Trish but he couldn't confess his feelings to her despite his friends supporting him he felt entering a relationship in the military would lose their focus, plus he was nervous.

As they were working on Nathan's Machine gun, Daniel looked to his right to see Corporal Evan Cunningham, PFC Robert Wilson, and Private Joseph Ryan gossiping about Nathan and Trish.

"Hey 5 bucks Nathan asks her out next month." Evan said. Joseph then replied. "I bet 10 bucks it'll take him four months," he said with a sly smile. Robert looked at them and replied. "Nah I give him a year." he jokingly said which made the others laugh

Daniel then shouted. "Hey, what are you 3 slackers doing?" they stopped and looked at Daniel.

"Ugh, nothing Staff Sargent we were just talking that's all." Joseph replied while the other two just whistled away.

"Well, enough small talk just get back to shooting targets." Daniel Ordered

"Yes Sir." They replied in unison and went back to shooting their rifles.

Daniel shook his head 'fucking dumbasses' he thought to himself, he then went back to shooting his Rifle. "Staff Sergeant!" he turned around to see Lieutenant Randy Jones along with a new recruit.

"Lieutenant Jones!" Daniel saluted. "At ease." Jones replied while putting his salute down.

"I have a new soldier here for you, Private introduce yourself." Jones said while gesturing to the Private.

"Private Renji Watanabe, reporting for duty sir!" He shouted. 'Kids these days are really jumpy? Wait a second wasn't Davis supposed to have the new recruit why am I taking him in?'

"Well I hate to break it to you Private but you're supposed to be with Captain Davis from what I can remember?" Daniel told the young Private while looking at Jones with raising eyebrows.

"I just talked to Davis, and he said the Private would be assigned to you, besides you know that Renji's brother Ichiro is assigned to Captain Davi's squad so it'll be very confusing to have two Watanabe's in the same squad." Jones said, with Daniel smiling out of defeat.

"'Sigh' I guess you got a point, alright then come on kid you with me." Daniel said to Renji, with the latter getting his Rifle loaded.

11:15 PM

Just 3 miles away, an airbase full to the brim of helicopters and fixed aircraft shows the signs of military power. Inside one of those buildings was a meeting room where Airmen and women were sitting on chairs while talking to each other.

"Hey Garrick do you have any idea what's going on?" A woman with black hair asked the girl next to the woman named Garrick. Garrick shrugged and replied. "I honestly have no idea, maybe we are getting a day off Hudson." She replied jokingly.

Hudson smiled and rolled her eyes. "Very funny." Hudson replied sarcastically. Everyone then heard the door open behind and they saw their CO Captain Sullivan Rogers. Everyone got out of their seats and saluted to their superior. He saw this while walking towards the board. "At ease." He responded causing all of them to stop saluting, and sit back down.

He then got in front of everyone. "Ladies and Gentlemen as you know the war in Ukraine will one day advance into all of Europe, so we have the curiosity of our government to fly our new F-35 fighter jets so we will have new toys to play with." Rogers said with a smile.

Garrick then raised her hand and Sullivan then pointed at her prompting her to ask. "So Captain when will we be in the air, and what will we be doing in this exercise?"

Sullivan nodded and replied, "Our current ETA in the sky will be 14:00, and we will be doing mock air support with the US Army Rangers and the Armored division." Everyone shook their heads in agreement.

"So make sure your fighter jets are armed and ready." Everyone got confused by this statement. Hudson looked at Garrick with confusion.

"Are we using live rounds, sir?" Hudson asked with confusion. Sullivan nodded making everyone be cautious of whats gonna happen.

"Be assured we are going to be dropping payloads at called-out targets to simulate battle, and the ground forces will use live ammo as well so everybody knows what they are doing, any more questions?" Sullivan asked and everyone was silent. "Then you are all dismissed." He announced making everyone leave the room.

12:30 PM

After shooting their weapons at the firing range they are then gathered together in the hall to attend a meeting that was announced, they were minding their own business and joking around until they heard. "Attention!" which made everyone stop, then came a 45-year-old Caucasian man in a Colonel Uniform, his name was Samuel Irons.

"Alright, men I gather you all here today, for an important meeting." Said Colonel Irons.

"We all know that the Russians have invaded Ukraine and that we're all thinking that we should be there helping them? Am I wrong?" He asked.

Some of the ranger personnel nodded in agreement while others said 'Yeah' in their normal voice. However, there were some who didn't want to go to war with another superpower.

"Unfortunately the President doesn't want us to go and start World War 3, and we can only give Ukraine weapons and supplies." Irons continued.

Everyone had mixed feelings about the situation, but Daniel felt he should fight over there.

"However that doesn't mean we shouldn't be prepared for the worst so that's why at 14:00 we will start conducting are military training for this week, and then next week we will deploy in Poland for more training and be prepared if Russia does to decide to expand beyond Ukraine." Irons announced making everyone whisper to each other.

"Is that understood?" Irons asked

"Sir Yes Sir!" everyone shouted.

'Well if I'm going to Poland, I might as well sneak into Ukraine and fight the Russians myself.' Daniel thought to himself.

The Rangers then left the building and began to rearm their equipment and ammo.

Daniel began reloading his M4A1, and M17, with everyone doing the same thing while making small talk about their lives and about their families, with some jokes here and there.

'Woof'

Daniel looked up to see his German Shepherd dog named Luna walking up towards him.

"Hey Luna, are you ready to fly in the Helicopter again girl?" He asked while patting his dog.

'Woof' The dog replied, then proceeded to lick his face.

13:15

Across the base was a Tank commander George Bannon who was trying his best to make sure his armored division was up and ready for the next event that they were ordered. The tank commander saw mechanized infantry talking to each other with the armory full of M2 Bradley Fighting vehicles and M1A2 Abrams tanks.

He then walked in and said "Okay everyone, attention!" he yelled gaining the other's attention. "Alright listen up at exactly 13:45 We will be driving to the field to do a military exercise that will involve Army Rangers, our battalion, and our Air Force in preparations in case the War in Ukraine escalates any further down Europe." The captain said while walking back and forth.

"It's gonna be a week of training on the field then will have a 3-day week off and be shipped to Poland where we'll do even more training with our NATO Allies near the border so that we can intimidate Ivan to not invade past Ukraine." Bannon said with enthusiasm.

Some of the NCOs were shaking their heads out of embarrassment. 'He really wants to be a hero so bad, but at least he's keeping the Privates happy.' one of them thought.

"So everybody get your gear and get ready to prepare to roll out!" He announced while go getting his gear. With everyone following suite.

14:00

The US Rangers then gathered all their equipment and exited out of the hanger. Everyone began to enter their designated helicopters including Daniel and his Dog.

Inside the Helicopter with Daniel and Luna were 11 of his squad mates. SPC Trish Park, SPC Nathan Garcia, Sargent Richard Johnson, Corporal Kimberly Ortiz, PFC Kyle Lynch, Private Renji Watanabe, Private Victor Osborne, SPC Diana Johnson, Corporal Evan Cunningham, Private Joseph Ryan, and PFC Robert Wilson.

Their pilots, David Gonzalez and Richter Anderson flipped switches in the cockpit to begin flight.

"Good Afternoon everyone this is your pilot speaking, were are about to head to our destination so please no smoking and I hope you like some tunes." Richter said in the intercom.

Insert Voodoo Child by (Slight Return) Stevie Ray Vaughan

"Yeah!" Everyone shouted in joy when the music began to play.

As if in a queue the Helicopter lifted off and began to fly to its destination.

"Alright men, just follow my lead, and will get this training done in no time! Just stay focused and act mission-ready! Hooah!" Daniel announced with enthusiasm.

"Hooah!" his squad shouted back.

Daniel looked to his sides where he saw more Black Hawks, AH-64 Apaches, and MH-6 Little birds (Some of the MH-6s carried troops while some were armed with weapons).

Below him were JLTVs (4 armed with 50 cal machine guns and 2 armed with grenade launchers) carrying troops including Captain Davis and his squad, With tanks, and Bradley vehicles rolling by them. Like everyone else, they had all their weapons, gear, and equipment for their training.

"Crack!"

Before arriving at their destination they all heard a very loud lightning strike and they saw a storm that appeared out of nowhere with what looked like a black hole. Every vehicle stopped in its tracks.

"What the hell is that?" asked one of the pilots.

Daniel and his squad looked in awe. 'Wow so the eyewitnesses on that radio I heard were legit?' then the black hole began to shoot off electricity.

"Ugh does anybody see this." Sullivan announced on the radio while looking from his F-35.

Davis grabbed the radio and replied. "Yep seeing really have a hard time believing. Be advised airforce I think you should get out of..." He continued but then the black hole got bigger, and bigger and then exploded absorbing the JLTVs, Helicopters, and Tanks. As well as a dozen couple of F-35 and F-22 Fighter Jets that were flying around. Some tried to get away but weren't fast enough. Daniel's team was last to be absorbed.

"Oh Shit brace yourself!" the pilot said. With that every hold on tight to make sure they don't fall off or lose each other.

Daniel held on to Luna very tight and closed his eyes as the black hole absorbed them leaving no trace of any vehicle that was there before.

A/N

Hope you guys enjoyed this prologue chapter I've been reading a lot of Cross Ange stories a lot, and I've always wondered what if modern soldiers have traveled to the 'Future', (I'm still surprised nobody has done it before) so I'm kinda the first person to do it.

Now keep in mind I haven't uploaded stories in a while (I've done a little work on Wattpad) so there may be some typos here and there but feel free to give your honest opinion.

Also, I made a couple of references to real-world events like what's happening in Ukraine and the horrible evacuation planning in Afghanistan, I might add a little more to add some character development.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the first prologue chapter and I'll see you in the next one, peace.
