Shido's POV:

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

A REALLY loud roar cry suddenly echoes throughout the area, sending chills down all of our spines. "Wh-Wh-What was that?!" I shout.

"Th-That cry sounded like a cow's moo!" Origami stutters fearfully.

"A cow's moo? Could it be the Tengu Cow?!" Tohka asks excitedly. There's no way! We've alrady confirmed that it was just a rumor Tonomachi made up... right?

Rinne gasps. "Yoshino! She's still out there!" Fear grips at my heart, remembering that Yoshino had just left a minute ago.

"Yoshino!" Not wanting to take any chances, I run off in the direction Yoshino went, the others calling out to me.

Please be safe, Yoshino...

Third POV:

Of all the things that could've changed upon Fuyu Hana's reincarnation as Yoshino Himekawa, the Tengu Cow actually being real was one of the LAST things she expected!

Yet here she is, standing in front of something that should've only existed in Tonomachi's made-up stories.

"So... Do you have any plans to deal with this guy?" Kurumi asks slowly, her own gaze locked on the Tengu Cow.

"Honestly, no." Yoshino answers truthfully. "Meeting the Tengu Cow in the flesh was something I thought to be an impossibility."

The Tengu Cow pulls its arm back and throws a punch at the two Spirits, making them jump back to dodge as its fist hits the ground, its strength enough to leave cracks.

"Well, it's certainly not in the mood for talk, I can tell you that much!" Yoshinon states the obvious.

"Guess it's a fight, then." Kurumi decides, summoning her guns. Yoshino nods and prepare to form my Astral Dress...

"Yoshino!"

But her eyes widen when she hears Shido's voice and turns to see the others running up to us. "You guys!"

"Yoshino, are you alright?!" Shido asks, clearly worried about the Water Spirit, before noticing Kurumi. "Wait, Kurumi's here, too?"

"Hello, Shido-san." Kurumi greets him. "However, you're missing another." She points her musket at our opponent, making him and the others finally notice it.

"Th-Th-That's..." Shido pales.

"Yep. Ladies and gentleman, meet the myth itself, the Tengu Cow!" Yoshinon introduces the Tengu Cow in a dramatic.

"I-It's actually real..." Rinne says, eyes wide with fear.

"Wow! The real Tengu Cow!" Tohka, on the other hand, had her eyes sparkling with excitement and awe. "It looks really powerful!"

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The Tengu Cow roars at them, the force making them skid back as they brace themselves, with Rinne in particular, who was holding the unconscious Kotori, struggling to keep her balance.

"And really angry!" Origami adds.

"Wh-What do we do?" Rinne asks. "Should we give it our offerings to appease it?"

"I don't think it's in the mood to accept offerings right now!" Shido points out.

"Shido-san's right! If we're to calm this ting down, then we'll have to fight it!" Kurumi tells them.

"Yeah, but first..." Yoshino says, turning to look at Rinne. "Rinne, can you promise that you won't tell anyone about what we're gonna do?"

Rinne looks surprised by my question. "Huh? Of course you can trust me. I'm your friend, aren't I? Plus, it's not like anyone's gonna believe me anyway."

The Spirit of Chesed smiles since Rinne's statement is true. There is no way ANYONE would believe that the Tengu Cow actually exists. "Alright. Shido, keep Rinne and Kotori safe."

"Got it." Shido nods.

"Tohka, Origami, let's do this!"

"Alright!" Tohka nods, ready to fight. "Let's go, Origami! Sandalphon!"

"O-Okay!" Origami says, mustering her courage. "Metatron!"

The two summon their Astral Dresses and Angel. Thanks to Eden, however, the two are both at full power, meaning their Full Astral Dresses form, instead of just their Limited versions.

With it being her turn to transform, Yoshino turns back to face the Tengu Cow. "Zadkiel!" She calls upon her power and my own Astral Dress forms. At the same time, she grabs Yoshinon as she transforms into her scythe form. "Alright. You wanna fight, big guy? You got one!"

The Tengu Cow responds by throwing another punch at her and Kurumi, but the two once again dodge by moving in opposite directions. Tohka then charges forward and slashes at it, but to the group's surprise, it easily blocks the attack with its arm.

"Being able to block Sandalphon with its arm... Does its aura also function as a Territory?" Yoshino wonders. "Or is it like those auras from RWBY that protect the hunters from serious harm?"

The Tengu Cow pushes Tohka back and prepares to punch her, only for Kurumi and Origami to interrupt it by pelting its right side with bullets and light beams. The beast turns to them and starts kicking up dirt with its right hoof, before charging right at the duo, its head lowered and horns pointing at them, but Kurumi dodges by quickly sinking into her own shadow while Origami teleports out of the way.

Seeing that its targets dodged, the Tengu Cow skids to a stop, and then jumps high into the air, surprising the group with how high it can jump. It then falls towards Origami, thankfully not landing on her, but close enough that she was knocked down by the small tremor that happened upon it landing. While she was knocked down, the Tengu Cow grabs her and brings her right to its face.

"P-Please don't eat me." Origami begs fearfully, only for it to roar right in her face, and then jumps up and slams her into the ground, before flinging her into Tohka, knocking them both down.

The beast walks up to the downed duo, but then strings appear out of the ground and attach themselves to the Tengu Cow, binding it in place. This was thanks to Yoshino, who then rushes forward and starts slicing at the Tengu Cow, each attack wearing down on its aura. Eventually, though, the Tengu Cow roars angrily and uses its strength to break free before swiping its arm at Yoshino, but the Water Spirit flies up to dodge.

The beast then slams its fists down on Tohka and Origami, but thanks to Yoshino, the two had recovered enough to stand up and dodge by jumping backwards. Tohka fires slash waves at the Tengu Cow, but it crosses its arms and takes them like a champ. Origami, meanwhile, flies into the air, positioning Metatron's pillars underneath her. She performs a diving kick towards the Tengu Cow, the pillars' ends pointing at the beast and spinning around while radiating light energy, forming a drill of light around her.

The Tengu Cow raises its crossed arms to protect against the drill attack, but then Kurumi suddenly appears in front of it and performs a high kick, a trail of shadows following as she hits the beast in its stomach, making it flinch enough for Origami's attack to break through its guard, making it stagger. Tohka seizes the opening and rushes in for a horizontal slash with Sandalphon, and then jumps back as Yoshino comes down, slashing downward with her scythe for a cross slash combo. The combo was enough to break the Tengu Cow's aura as it stumbles back before falling to one knee.

"Got him!"

"Nice one, girls!" Rinne and Shido cheer for them.

"...pay..."

Unfortunately, the triumph was short-lived as they hear a ghostly voice reverberate throughout the area, making everyone stand in alarm and look around for the voice, eventually seeing a ghostly figure form above the Tengu Cow. "You will pay...!"

"G-G-GHOST!" Rinne shrieks in fear.

"First the Tengu Cow, and now a ghost?" Kurumi blinks with surprise. "Is this actually haunted?"

"P-Please don't say stuff like that!" Origami pleads, in fear due to the ghost's arrival.

"My friend... Take my power, and cut down those who disturb us." The ghost speaks.

"'My friend'?" Yoshino repeats the first two words, and then her eyes widen. "Could that ghost be the spirit of the samurai?"

"You mean the same one that killed all the villagers?!" Shido gasps in shock as the ghost enters the Tengu Cow.

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The cow demon stands up with a loud roar as its aura resurges.

"Uh oh! Looks like it's time for round 2!" Yoshinon shouts in alarm.

The Tengu Cow then makes a stance as if it's hold a two-handed sword, and at that moment, a large katana covered in a ghostly blood red aura forms in its hands.

"It's got a sword now!" Tohka gasps.

"I figured things wouldn't be so easy." Kurumi frowns. "Stay on your guard everyone!"

The Tengu Cow rushes forward and attacks with a horizontal slash, making the Spirit fly up to dodge. Kurumi fires bullets at the cow demon, but it skillfully deflects all the bullets, and then jumps up to slash her down. Tohka quickly flies in front of Kurumi to block the sword with her own, her strength as a Spirit allowing her to defend against the cow demon's attack and push it back. Origami, now donning [Brunhild], swiftly flies in and stabs the Tengu Cow in the chest with her spear, but couldn't pierce its skin thanks to the aura, resulting in it being knocked to the ground, but it manages to land on its hooves.

Tohka flies down and slashes at it, with the Tengu Cow parrying her strikes with its own. "I see your sword isn't just for show." She says seriously as she blocks another slash, but Yoshino suddenly rushes in and slashes at the demon's sword, aiding Tohka as the two's combined might staggers the Tengu Cow. They immediately follow up with a duo slash through the Tengu Cow, but once again, the aura blocks most of the damage.

The Tengu Cow lets out an enraged roar and jumps high into the air. It turns around, raising its katana high with the blade pointing at the ground as it comes down on Tohka and Yoshino. The two Spirits quickly dodge in opposite directions as the Tengu Cow stabs the ground between them, causing a small shockwave upon impact. The beast then picks its weapon up from the ground and slashes upward, sending a blood red shockwave in Tohka's direction as she quickly counters with her own, causing an explosion.

"Metatron! Kadour!" Origami summons Metatron's pillars and sends them to attack critical points on the Tengu Cow, but the beast manages to block all the shots and perform a spin slash to knock them all away. The Light Spirit quickly flies in to close the distance, her spear absorbing the lingering Reiryoku from the battle as she spins around and performs a powerful wide slash, doing some damage to the demon's aura.

The Tengu Cow tries to grab her again, but this time, Origami teleports away, and then bullets and icicle spears attack its left side, courtesy of Yoshino and Kurumi.

"Having some trouble, big guy?" Kurumi taunts.

The demon responds by sending a slash wave at them, but Kurumi dodges into her shadow as Yoshino turns into mist to evade, and then the mist enters Kurumi's shadow, before it moves under the Tengu Cow.

"Nightmaric Killer Mist!" The duo call out, Yoshino's blue eyes flashing alongside Kurumi's red right eye, and then a pillar of mist and shadow erupts from under the Tengu Cow. The demon roared as it was it multiple times, its aura flickering with each hit, before the two Spirits finish the combo attack with a double uppercut, making it finally break once again.

"Amazing!" Rinne comments, awed by the attack as Yoshino and Kurumi land.

"Yoshino, Kurumi, that was awesome!" Shido praises them.

"Yoshino-san and I make quite the duo." Kurumi smiles.

The Tengu Cow falls to one knee once again, its katana dissipating as it glares at the group warily.

"Looks like it's finally calmed down." Yoshino notes.

"Should we try giving our offerings now?" Origami asks.

"Worth a shot." Shido says, carefully walking up to the Tengu Cow. "Um, hey. Sorry about disturbing you. You see, we heard about your legend from a friend of mine who came here earlier and wanted to give you offerings." He takes out the shortcake and presents it to the Tengu Cow. "Here. It's not much, but I hope you'll accept it."

The Tengu Cow stares at the shortcake for a whole minute as the girls watch with tension, before it gently takes the shortcake from Shido and eats it. "Moooo." It moos in satisfaction.

"Looks like it worked." Yoshino says with a smile. "It accepted Shido's offering and calmed down."

"My turn!" Tohka says excitedly, recalling Sandalphon and taking out the kebab she brought. "Here you go!"

One by one, the group, except for the still unconscious Kotori, gives the Tengu Cow their offerings. Even Kurumi had brought an offering for the Tengu Cow - a special sake that she just happened to buy for the occasion, at the behest of one of her other selves. It ate the food that was given and drank the sake, and it even enjoyed the cow hand puppet that Yoshino made for it.

"Mmm..." A moan rings out as a certain Flame Spirit finally regains consciousness.

"Well, look who finally decided to wake up." Kurumi teases.

"Wha? Did something happen?" Kotori asks, before quickly noticing the Tengu Cow and paling with fear. "T-T-T-T-T-T-T-"

"Calm down, Kotori." Shido calms his step sister. "It's okay. The Tengu Cow is actually friendly." He helps her on her feet. "Go on. The rest of us have already given our offerings. You're the last one."

Kotori is still a little scared, but Shido holds her hand, silently assuring her that he'll be riht by her side. Walking up to the Tengu Cow, Kotori gives it the lollipop. "Here you go, Mr. Tengu Cow. It's a special limited-edition lollipop." The Tengu Cow looks at the lollipop before taking it and eating it, giving another satisfied moo. Seeing it accept her offering, Kotori gives her brother a smug look. "Heh-heh! See? I told you it would like it!"

"Yeah yeah." Shido rolls his eyes.

The ghost of the samurai appears before the group. "Your offerings please my friend, young ones." The samurai says. "Forgive us for attacking you. Another young man came here earlier and was planning to impersonate us. We were enraged by this and scared him off, and attacked you believing you were associated with him."

"Yeah, that definitely sounds like Tonomachi." Shido facepalms.

"How rude! I can't he would take advantage of the legend of the Tengu Cow!" Tohka pouts angrily.

"Well, he probably didn't expect the legend to actually be real." Rinne says in Tonomachi's defense, before bowing in apology. "Either way, we're so sorry for his disrespect!"

"We're sorry!" The rest of the group, including Yoshinon, also bow in apology.

The samurai chuckles. "You are forgiven, children. Besides, my friend and I are pleased to meet such powerful individuals in this day and age."

Yoshino lifts her head with a smile. "Same here. It was an honor to meet the Tengu Cow."

"Yeah! You're really strong!" Tohka praises. The Tengu Cow puffs out smoke from its nostrils, giving a prideful smirk.

"We must return to our rest now." The samurai says, before a sheathed katana appears in the air. "Take this. In honor of your strength and courage."

Yoshino holds out her hands as the katana gently floats down into her hands. Looking at it, the Water Spirit smiles at the ghost. "Thank you. We'll definitely treasure it."

The ghost of the samurai disappears, and the Tengu Cow returns to the lake. "Bye Mr. Tengu Cow!" Kotori says as she and the group wave goodbye.

"Moooooooooo!" The Tengu Cow moos its farewell as it submerges back into the water.

With the Tengu Cow gone, The Spirits call off their powers and return to their human clothes. "Well, that was certainly an exciting end to the day." Yoshino comments.

"I agree." Origami smiles. "Who would've thought we would meet and befriend the real Tengu Cow?"

"Guess in the end, Tonomachi wasn't telling a complete fib after all." Shido says.

"Too bad he ran off like a scaredy cat!" Yoshinon adds on. "But then again, that's what he gets for trying to pull a fast one on us. Nyahaha!" The rest of the group laughs with Yoshinon.

"Well, how about we all return home and call it for today?" Rinne suggests.

Shido nods. "Yeah. Let's head back everyone."

And so, with the Tengu Cow event reaching its conclusion, the group returns to their homes, having made an unexpected new friend in the process. As they walked home, Yoshino looks at the katana the samurai gifted her. 'This whole thing was never supposed to happen, and yet this sword is proof that it actually did.' She thinks warily. 'Just what other changes have been made that I am not aware of?'

Gripping the katana, the reincarnated soul gains a determined look. Whatever changes have been made, she will face them head-on for the future she strives for.

And that's the Tengu Cow finished, and on a happy note as well!

Yeah, the big guy turned out to be a powerful opponent, but nothing four Spirits can't handle. They even got a nice gift for their troubles!

Next chapter, we'll be going back on track and working our way through the Rinne Arc! See you guys then!
