As Zatren opened the door after grumbling a bit, he put on his best people face.

Well… that was basically a poker face, actually. There is not much in the social interaction department. Still, his voice was tainted by slight surprise.

''Um… Shitori-Senpai and… Toujou-San?'' His eyes did widen a little, though. He was expecting Sona and Rias, not the extra company.

On one side there was the expected bombshell that is Rias Gremory, with long and crimson hair that goes all the way to her lower back, a beautiful figure and face that won't look out of place on a beauty contest winner, and there was also Sona's Queen, a serious-looking beauty with glasses, trying to look the part as a serious representative of Sona's peerage.

''Ah, I don't think we met. Zatren Fumigami, er… Fumigami Zatren, by this country's manners.''

''Good morning, Fumigami-san.'' Sona is the first to greet him with a nod. ''First of all, to my right is Shinra Tsubaki, vice-president of the student council, and, to my left is Gremory Rias, President of the Occult Research Club. We need to talk about some things if it isn't much of a hassle.''

Zatren looked at them for a moment, taking in the form of the new arrivals. 'Well, the cat's out the bag. Might as well.'

''Can we come in, please?'' It was Rias who spoke next. She had a friendly smile on her face.

He looked at the four girls present. 'Hmm… So, Rias brought her Rook, and Sona her Queen? They must be taking precautions. The Quest did say they've been checking me out…'

Unbeknownst to him, his stare was weirding out his unexpected guests, and with his uncontrolled magic flaring up slightly, it didn't paint a good picture.

Everybody tensed for a moment. The only exception was Koneko, who just tilted her head, and then snapped her fingers in front of his face.

''Yo, earth to Schizogami-Senpai.'' Came the deadpan voice of the cat-girl.

''Ah.'' Zatren snapped out of it. A bashful smile on his face as he got away from the door, letting them in. ''Of course, sorry about that. The place is a bit small, but make yourself comfortable. I'll prepare some tea and snacks. That's the custom around here, right?''

He didn't wait for an answer, just getting into his small kitchen and putting some water to boil.

Sona looked at Koneko with exasperation. Tsubaki looked a bit amused, and Rias just openly smiled while entering the small living room of the apartment.

The four of them took a seat at the European-style table. There was a silence reigning in the room, the only noise was the rustles of cabinets opening as Zatren took out some chocolate cookies he made yesterday.

''Sorry, I don't have green tea. Is black tea okay?'' Is what he asks while pouring the drinks into five mugs. Even if he appeared friendly, his posture was tense.

'If this meeting came to blows, somehow. I think I'll definitively lose right now.' Was his line of thought. Actually, it frustrated him to no end.

What could he do if he needed to escape? Maybe if he pumped every point of MP into [Reinforcement]? But that would damage his magic circles permanently.

''What did you need to talk about, Shitori-Senpai?'' Maybe finding out the principal motive of their visit is a good first step.

''Black tea is okay, thank you,'' Sona answered. ''We are here to talk about something important…''

She was trying to be serious about it. But, Rias, who was looking at her friend making a big deal over it before getting to the point, decided to intervene.

Zatren was putting the drinks and cookies down on the table, (The latter of which Koneko attacked instantly.) when she decided to speak.

''Beautiful place you have, Fumigami-san. Still, I'm going straight to the point- '' Yet, she was interrupted, by none other than the owner of the residence himself.

''Well, not like you can go 'gay' to the point.'' Came the deadpan interruption. 'That came out of nowhere! Curse me for being a sassy piece of shit!'

There was silence for a moment. Rias had a befuddled face and Tsubaki tried to hide a snort.

Unsurprisingly, Sona was the only one with no apparent reaction, but if you looked or heard close enough, you could see her giving a dead look at the table.

''There's two of them now…'' Someone whispered painfully. No need to guess who it was.

Koneko just looked at him and made a thumbs-up while stuffing her face with a cookie. The tiniest hint of a smirk appeared on her face.

''Sorry, I just wanted to clear the tension in the air.'' He did enjoy making the joke, even if it was a bad one. An unapologetic smile formed on his face.

Amusement overtook Rias at the bad joke. Koneko getting someone with a similar sense of humor was good, too. A smile of her own appeared on her face at the realization.

''Let's get this out of the way first.'' Suddenly, black and leathery wings resembling those of a bat came out of the backs of the four girls. Zatren's eyes widened at the forwardness. If his eyes lit up at the real and functional wings, that's an effect of the light.

''I'm Rias Gremory, Heir to the house of Gremory. And this, is my Rook, Koneko Toujou. It's good to meet you, Fumigami-san.'' Her tone is a bit more formal than before but just as friendly.

Koneko just gave a nod in acknowledgment while drinking from her tea.

Then, was Sona's turn. ''And I'm Sona Sitri. Heir to the house of Sitri. Accompanying me is my Queen, Tsubaki Shinra. Pleased to make your acquaintance.'' Her manners were way more formal than her co-ruler. That's how it always is.

Zatren looked at both of them, his expression was like stone. Playing surprised wasn't really his forte. So, maybe, acting nonchalant would be better.

''I see… Fumigami Zatren, pleased to meet you too.'' He gave a respectful nod, but not much else.

Rias looked at him, a bit miffed. 'I see'? That's it? People usually give way funnier reactions…' She sighed in disappointment. That didn't last long, as she just gave a nod.

''I certainly expected more of a reaction, but that's fine too. I would guess you are a bit more informed than we thought?'' She had a bit of curiosity, it was either that, or he wasn't heavily shaken by reality-shattering information.

Sona too, was looking at him while raising an eyebrow. Being the one in constant vigilance of him, she knew he was a bit weird from the get-to-go.

'This was my way in, whatever information I feed them about myself now, It's going to be his alibi from now on.' Fortunately, his thoughtful look was mistaken as him processing the situation.

First, he took a seat on the last chair of the table and looked directly at Rias while answering. A neutral expression prevailed on his face all the while.

''Well, something like that.'' He took another look at the bat-like wings on his guests.

''I have a… magical ability of some sort. It lets me 'scout' people when I'm directly looking at them.'' The start of his explanations made some eyebrows arch. ''With regular people, it always tells me a bit about them and some basic abilities like their professions.''

''However, when I tried it on Shitor-… I mean, Sitri-senpai, a few weeks ago, it didn't show me anything other than her name.'' Sona's eyes widened at that, there was a clear surprise trying to hide itself in her mask of impassiveness.

''I theorized it was because of our difference in magical prowess. So, it obviously doesn't work with people that are much stronger than me''

'Giving away my [Observe] isn't ideal, but it wasn't the end of the world either. It would also give me a few brownie points in the trust department.' This was the most logical decision he could reach right now. The real question was if he should reveal any more.

''First, I guessed she was some kind of powerful mage, and I was unable to see her information because of that.'' He looked at Sona, a little smile showing on his face again. ''Well, that's probably right. Even now, I can't see much about her.''

Sona's mask completely broke for a moment. 'Is he 'scouting' me right now? But… I don't feel anything. What type of magic is this?!' She was a bit aghast, but her curiosity was peaked. Zatren Fumigami appeared to be full of surprises.

Her jaw metaphorically hitting the floor was quite funny for the half-mermaid, the expressions of her companions were pretty good too. 'Too bad I can't pull out a camera for this, ha!'

He wasn't lying. Even with his higher level [Observe]. This was all the information he could gather.

Sona Sitri.

'That's… not ideal.' Sona is a High-Class Devil, after all. Her stats are not surprising, but it seems he has a long way to go before he can catch up.

His gaze left the violet-eyed girl to take a look at the rest of the seemingly friendly Devils.

Koneko Toujou(?).

HP: [-100%-]

MP: [-100%-]

Race: Reincarnated Devil/Nekoshou.

'That makes sense, she's a Rook, after all. So, her best stats should be STR and CON.' Zatren's thought process was interrupted by the very same Rook, who poked his side, a bit harder than needed.

''Earth to Fumigami-senpai. Stop staring.'' She actually used his name this time.

He blinked a bit and then took notice that the Devils were giving him an odd look. 'Way to look like a creep, idiot!'

''I'm sorry, that was rude of me.'' The apology left his mouth easily, a slight bow was present, too. ''I was trying to see just how I compare. I have to admit, you're quite strong.''

The finger poking his side didn't leave. When he looked at Koneko she was practically staring through him, there was curiosity in her gaze. But, she dropped it for a more important topic.

The empty plate of the cookies was placed in front of him.

''Do you have more…?'' Koneko attacked with a very powerful weapon. Her eyes bore deeply into the cookie maker, kitty eyes begging for more treats.

Zatren shakes his head in amusement. Then, he puts his hand above the plate and more cookies appear out of thin air.

He wasn't dumb. His guests obviously saw the little trick. 'I can show this much too. I actually don't know if things like pocket spaces were something normal here…'

His little trick got him a raised eyebrow from Tsubaki and Sona, a curious gaze from Rias, and a look of awe from the superior cat girl. That last one was probably because of the now cookie-filled plate, though.

''Some kind of storage magic?'' Rias asked while hiding her fiddling thumbs beneath the table. 'He actually looks quite promising… But, I have to confirm that Sacred Gear somehow, even if not today. I still have time, after all.'

Rias's internal monologue was interrupted by Zatren, a curious look was displayed on his face.

''I would like to know more about the Supernatural world if you will be so kind. But, before that...'' Now it was Zatren's time to look oddly at the people present, confusion clear. ''How did you know I was a magic user? I'm sure I was pretty careful outside of my home.''

'Even if they spied from outside the house, I should have sensed something, right?' No, he actually didn't, but the answer to his question came from Sona.

''Yes, you kept supernatural activities to a minimum while outside your home. However,'' She paused for a moment while taking a good look at him. ''Your magic is practically a shining 'I'm here' poster. That's how we took notice of you in the first place.''

''Could you elaborate on that, please?'' Now, that threw him in for a loop. 'Do I have some kind of target on my back this whole time?'

''What Sona means is that your magic is practically leaking out of you,'' Rias said, her amusement of the situation clear. She half-covered the little smile on her face with her hand. ''Most humans don't 'stumble' upon magic, they're usually taught by the old generation. One of the first things they're taught is how to rein in their power. A good protection so they aren't noticed and dispatched by stronger enemies.''

Realization dawned on his face at the fact, and then a groan left his lips at his own lapse in judgment.

''So, I can guess the motive of this visit was to inform me of this fact?'' He sighed, the frustration with himself was evident.

Both Rias and Sona nodded at that.

Zatren scratched his head in frustration. 'This… really wasn't going as I expected. To think I was outed by my own shortcomings. It's better that it happened with the Devils and not the Fallen, I guess.' Small mercies and all of that, right?

Rias and Sona looked at one another before the latter coughed into her hand and spoke.

''Magic control is something that we can help you with…'' That is how she started. Zatren looked at her in the eye, her gaze was sharp. ''For a price, of course.''

Truly, is this what a 'deal with the devil' is like?

''I think it's better if we explain the world of the Supernatural first. That way, we can come to an agreement.'' Rias interrupted. While she was quite interested in adding another member to her group, she wasn't about to lie and cheat her way into it.

''Yes, please do. Much appreciated.'' Taking a look at the middle of the table, he made a few more pastries appear.

'This will be a long conversation, but the information will be valuable. To not out myself, at the very least.' And that's how the supernatural history class started.

It was a long explanation. It started with the history of the creation of the Devil race. The original Lucifer erased all trace of his 'light', the power received by the Biblical God, from his body. Then, in his rebellion against his father, created the Devil race along with Lilith, to create powerful warriors capable of fighting the Angels of God.

He gave power to 72 main 'houses' and they became the thick of their military force. That wasn't all, however, as there were three individuals who became the strongest along with Lucifer in power.

Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Leviathan. With these three individuals, the Devils were ruled by The Four Great Satans.

With their military power at its peak, they attacked Heaven. But, It wasn't just a 2-way war. The Fallen, Angels who fell for their betrayal against God's teachings, joined the conflict too. Some did it for power, others for rebelling against their father. There were some who just wanted to cause as much damage and pain as possible.

The war lasted for centuries, and at some point, it was interrupted by the fight of two Heavenly Dragons. Ddraig, the Crimson Dragon of Domination, and Albion, the White Dragon of Supremacy.

The three factions made a ceasefire just to fight these powerful foes. With time and great losses, both were defeated and killed and their souls and flesh remade into Sacred Gears by the God of the Bible.

The Fallen were the first to retreat from the war, they were the faction with the most amount of members in the present time because of that.

The Devils were next. They retired once the Four Great Satans and a lot of the 72 Pillar Houses were killed off in a final showdown against the Four Burning Angels and God himself.

The descendants of the Four Original Satans wanted to rail up a new army and keep the war going, to destroy heaven and the Fallen alike, but there was a big part of the Devil faction who rejected this idea completely for fear of extinction.

This was the moment when the 'Anti-Satan' Faction formed, and a civil war ensued.

Even more Pillars were lost, and their numbers were severely diminished because of this five hundred years' conflict.

Fortunately, the New Satans, powerful Devils who lead the battle against the Satan descendants, became more than powerful enough to win the war and ensure the defeat of the now-called 'Old Satan Faction'.

They became the new Four Satans due to their military achievements, strength, and saving the Devil Race from near extinction. Their names are Sirzechs Lucifer, Serafall Leviathan, Falbium Asmodeus, and surprisingly (For Zatren, that is), Ayuka Beelzebub. The Strongest Female Devil.

Isn't that a shocker?

Even after the war was won, there was a huge problem for the Devil race, one integrated into their very biology.

The fertility rates for Devils were way too low, painfully so.

A male devil could sleep with 5 devil females every day and only have one child in a century, or they could be 'lucky' and get a child in a few decades.

Even for a long-lived race, that was way too low in numbers. So, the genius Ayuka Beelzebub created what is known as the 'Evil Pieces' around 500 hundred years ago. These ingenious artifacts allowed a registered 'King' to reincarnate other species into Devils and allow the race to repopulate.

The way of reincarnating was based on the game of chess. There is 1 Queen, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, and 8 Pawns, every piece comes with different attributes.

The Rooks had great resistance and strength, the Knights super-fast speed, the Bishops powerful magic, the Pawn had a minor increase in every aspect, and the Queen had a great boost to every category.

With this, a maximum of 15 new Devils for each set that was given away was possible.

At first, these were given to powerful Pureblood Devils, usually the head of the remaining Pillars, or by making great achievements in the war. But, since two centuries ago, they have been given to High-Class Pureblood Devils or High-Class Reincarnated Devils.

Also, with the creation of the pieces, came the 'Rating Games'. Rias spoke about them with huge passion, saying how she wanted to be at the top. Basically, they are combats between two peerages until the other King falls.

It was probably made to teach combat to the new generation without putting them in life-or-death situations.

After a lesson on the history of Devil-kind. They got around to explaining about Sacred Gears and also what they knew about other factions. Things like the Shinto and Youkai factions were explained by Tsubaki, actually.

All this process took at least a few hours. All the while snacks and drinks were served and consumed.

Zatren was focused on what he just learned. This actually served to refresh his memory quite a bit, honestly.

''Thank you for the explanations. This… is quite a bit to take in.'' He replied after a moment. Then, he looked at Sona, his impassive face not giving anything away.

''This supposed 'price' you spoke of earlier, is it joining one of your 'peerages'?'' He asked In curiosity with brows furrowed.

Sona appeared to be thinking for a moment, but in the end, shook her head. ''No, I don't think that price is quite fair to you. Basic magic control is not that pricey.'' She looked at Rias, who took out some kind of measuring device, which started beeping as she fiddled with it.

'Did they have something like that in canon? I don't think so…' Zatren thought as he looked at what he believes is some kind of contract calculating device.

Once the beeping stopped, Rias spoke. ''You could make an easy payment of ¥500.000 per hour of teaching!'' She informed in a happy tune.

Zatren almost did a spit-take at that. 'Easy payment?! For who?!'

''Or… You could accept a 'task' we give you for each session, hm?~'' Her tone changed easily, half-lidded eyes looking directly at him while licking her lips.

The man in question raised an eyebrow in amusement akin to a 'This bitch thinks she's smart?' grin on his face.

''My… Well, I guess if I have to pay somehow…'' He did his best at his own flirt, a little screen seemed to appear at the corner of his vision, but he ignored it.

Tsubaki looked slightly amused and Koneko was deadpanning at both of us.

It was Sona who interfered with a cough and an exasperated look as if this wasn't the first time this happened.

''Yes, that is more akin to the price of such lessons.'' She said with a frown. ''Would you agree to those terms, Fumigami-San?''

He gave a little wink to Rias, on which she looked in amusement before looking seriously at Sona once more. ''Yes, I will accept those terms, in the form of tasks. I don't think I have enough to pay for lessons in money.'' He explained.

''Broke Schizo…'' It was a whisper, but he could hear it since the white-haired glutton who said it was right beside him. He looked at Koneko with a little smirk.

''Says the one who ate three plates of cookies on her own. Don't they feed you at home?'' He said, to which the girl gave him the middle finger. That made him laugh a bit.

''That is acceptable.'' Interrupted Sona once again, probably wanting to get this over with, she wrote something on a little piece of paper and put it in front of him. ''This is my own phone number. You can call it in a few days, and I will arrange for one of my peerage members to give you your first magic lesson. After that, I'll give you your task.''

He nodded, and then Rias gave him her own slip of paper with a number. ''This one is mine. Don't worry, my 'tasks' will be a lot of fun~'' She didn't drop the act, He found it amusing to play along. So, a wink with with a smile was her answer.

''Of course, I'll look forward to it.'' He said. Then, Sona and Rias got up along with their respective companions.

''I believe we settled this matter quite nicely. I thank you for your kind hospitality Fumigami-San.'' Sona said, with a proper bow and a satisfied tone. ''You shall be treated with the same coin you gave. Be assured.''

Zatren got to the door, even if he hid it well, there was a new tiredness to his features.

He gently opened the door and both Sona and Tsubaki gave their goodbyes and left, while Rias gave him a wink and a wave before taking her leave.

The last one was Koneko who looked directly at him with an impassive face.

''Did you make the treats yourself, Fumigami-Senpai?'' She asked, her tone appearing to be dead serious.

''Yes, all homemade, why?'' He responded easily, to which Koneko's eyes widened a bit and... 'Where those sparks in her eyes? Is that an anime world thing?'

''Good. Here.'' She took out her phone, and another number was added to his growing contact list. Then, she gave a thumbs-up and followed after her King and friend.

Zatren looked at the hidden cat girl going away before shrugging and closing the door.

-Zatren Fumigami's POV-

Man, that was EXHAUSTING.

My social battery is now at -1000%, I will need three days, at the least, to recover from this.

Tomfoolery aside, this went quite well. I was actually expecting them to at least throw the pitch about becoming a Devil, but that didn't happen. Maybe they want to see how I measure up in the utility or power aspect, first.

Well, Sona was the one to suggest magic lessons. A pretty forward way of directly monitoring my potential.

I didn't mind, joining them was an easy way with the most powerful characters in the verse. Even so, I will need to be proactive, instead of reactive to future events if I end up joining them.

Like the newly remembered data about the King Faction…

Fuck me, that's going to be such a headache. I'll move subjects for now.

Rias was a total flirt; I could see it was mostly all bark. Even I, who has no social awareness could see that. Is she trying to seduce me into her peerage like she did with Issei?

Eh, I'll see how that goes, it's fun to play along, after all.

Also, how is Koneko not a fucking diabetic? Girl ate like a kilogram (Two pounds) of cookies just by herself, and I fear she will come back for more.

Tsubaki was pretty silent during it all, except when she explained the Shinto Pantheon. The disdain in her voice wasn't as hidden as she probably thinks.

Quest: 'Neighborhood Devils' Completed!

You managed to not screw up a meeting with the 'owners'. You have become good acquaintances with the Devils.

Due to your sudden actions, you got a new Skill!

[Seduction] Lv 2 (12%).

Your ability to convince or rail up people using the art of seduction.

You don't even know how bedroom eyes work… yet.

Fucking, rude.

Anyway, one thing I'm curious about is why didn't they notice Rei, she can't be that good at hiding, that not even Koneko could sense her, right?

Looking at her little corner- Where's the spider?

The connection is still there, but where is she? My question is answered when I try and follow our bond. That lands me at the front of the wardrobe. I open it up only to see a… cocoon?

I stare strangely at the object, but I know this is supposed to be Rei. '[Observe]'

Rei.

Race: Redback Spider Familiar.

HP: [-100%-]

MP: [-95%-]

Rei is currently in a growing process. Yet, she requires your input or guidance to finalize the process.

Please choose an available evolution.

[Venom Silk Spider]

[Obscuring Spider]

[Magic Spider]

Holy shit, how does every day just get better?

This is practically Pokemon evolution, man. I have to see if I can somehow get her a Pokeball.

Jokes aside, I can't actually see what the 'evolutions' do, but I can take a guess.

Venom Silk Spider should be some kind of trapper or CC-focused with poison included. Obscuring Spider is probably an assassin style. I thought I saw her using something similar to [Stealth], somehow. Magic Spider was pretty obvious.

Hmm…

I don't doubt she will exceed at any of these. Her stats are pretty balanced, after all. But, I would really prefer someone attacking from the shadows while I distract the enemy.

I actually thought that the spear would give me a full-on DPS build. In hindsight, that doesn't make much sense, tho.

In reality, it's a pretty balanced build. I have good MAG and CON bonuses, and my STR and DEX don't fall behind at all.

I'm rambling, let's do this.

You have selected [Obscuring Spider].

The process of evolution has started, please wait…

Just like that, I could see Rei's MP bar dropping slowly and a timer appearing on my screen. In approximately six hours, the evolution will be complete.

I let the wardrobe open and sat on my bed. It's still around three past noon. So, I can get more ingredients for cooking at night. Good thing that in Japan, the shops seem to close at 'fuck off' o'clock.

[Starch Generation] is pretty useful for bread and pasta, but I want to try my hand at Japanese sweets eventually.

This is a good moment to check the rewards from the dungeon.

Looking through my inventory, I found the reward box from the Queen Slime, it was actually pretty cute. A pink box with silver colorations resembling the crown she was using.

Once I opened it, I got around ¥150.000, and something that made a grin split my face in half.

Ores, lots of them.

Looking at their names, they were probably Terraria themed too. There was copper, silver, tungsten, and even gold and platinum. With all of these, I could finally upgrade some Spear Forms without going bankrupt at buying gold of all things.

I'll save the Gacha Tokens for last. Next, the random ores were 1 iron ore, a Hellstone Ore, and a Crimtane Ore. It wasn't nearly enough to make anything out of it. But, it was enough to unlock a new Spear Forms, apparently.

Hellstone Spear.

Equip Bonus: [Attack Up (Medium)]. [STR Up (Small)].

Equip Effect: 50% Chance to apply Burn.

It had a pretty good Attack stat. The attack speed, however? Real slow.

Crimtane Spear.

Equip Bonus: [DEX Up (Medium)]. [Blood Piercing].

Equip Effect: Minor Life Steal.

New Skill just dropped, boys!

I decided to get the unlocks out of the way by shoving the remains of both Royal Slimes into the spear.

Queen Slime Spear.

Equip Bonus: [Attack Up (Small)]. [Attack Speed Up (Very Small)]. [MAG Up (Medium)].

Equip Effect: Slimes become friendly.

Slime Crystal Spear.

Equip Bonus: [Armor Penetration Up (Small)].

Equip Effect: Bleed Chance Up.

It's a decent haul. I unlocked some other things like the 'Feather Spear' from the Queen's wings or the 'Royal Series I and II. They only gave small stat bonuses, tho.

Still, every little point counts since my physical training seems to be stagnant, for now.

The Queen Slime Spear seems to be the best one for now. The ATK stat is actually a little smaller than the Volcano Spear, but it was a lot faster and less bulky.

The 'Monster Hunter' Title was nice. It was similar to the Undead Slayer but for any kind of monster. I had less damage than the specific enemy one, however.

For the next reward, I had to check through my Skill list. The healing-related ability seemed to be already rolled while I was unconscious.

[Healing Touch] Lv 1 (0%)

You can heal people by being in direct contact with them.

You can use MP or HP to channel this ability, and depending on the difference in stats, the healing could be greater.

I didn't waste a second to start pumping out mana. My hands glowed a soft red color, and I could feel the new healing magic in my grasp and my eyes widened in realization.

This is… so easy?

I'm not joking. I did try to unlock this type of magic in my two weeks here. I have a proficiency, after all.

But… I couldn't figure it out. I guessed it had to do with it being a rarer type of magic than things like lightning or water. It made sense, you know?

But now? It seemed like child's play.

I closed my eyes in concentration as the healing magic poured from my hands. The magic formed into a small ball of energy, traveling for around a meter and then fizzling out.

I exhale deeply as I look at the screen.

A new Skill was created by practicing with your magic!

[Healing Ball] Lv 1 (0%).

A small ball of healing magic energy. It can heal as much HP as MP you put into it.

The range is very short, however.

I can practice more later. The important thing is that I got the basics down.

The last reward was the Crystal Armor. With a single thought, the full set was on the table.

It consisted of four main pieces; A blue and pink helmet that had a pink and crystal-like ponytail with a mouthpiece that only left my eyes uncovered. A blue chest plate with silver accents that looked pretty flexible. A pair of blue and pink-colored, mismatched greaves that didn't look out of place on a knight's armor if it wasn't for its extravagant color. And finally, a pair of grey and blue boots with a pointy end to them.

All in all, the armor looked mismatched as hell. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty sick, but it looked like a lot of mixed pieces for different 'classes', per se.

A little look with [Observe] informed me of the armor's stats.

Crystal Assasin Helmet.

The helmet was wielded by the Crystal Shadows. It greatly improves Stealth and makes it hard to recognize your true appearance.

Crystal Summoner Chest Plate.

The chest plate was wielded by the Crystal Tamers. It greatly improves the growth and power of allied summons when worn.

Crystal Warrior Greaves.

The greaves were wielded by the Crystal Knights. It greatly improves your prowess in physical combat and defense.

Crystal Mage Boots.

The boots were wielded by the Crystal Sorcerers. It greatly improves your output in magical spells and movement speed.

Ok, it looks mismatched as fuck because it is.

I remember that in Terraria, the armor was an 'every class' type of armor. Meaning that no matter your main class, you could still wear the Crystal armor and do damage.

With a wave of my hand, all of the armor was equipped. I could feel the boons being applied to my body as a rush of power invaded it.

A smirk graced my face once I looked at the new screen that popped out.

The full 'Crystal Armor' set is being worn. A corresponding boon has been applied. This will only take effect if every piece of armor is equipped at the same time.

Crystal Armor Bonus: Dash.

Once every 30 seconds, it allows the wearer to dash incredibly fast to the direction of their choosing. The max range for this ability is 20 meters.

That's good, really good.

I felt amazing right now. If I were to fight against the Queen Slime once again. I have no doubt that I will tear her to pieces.

If I didn't have a penalization on my mana, that is.

Finally, the last thing was to roll my tokens. The gambling addict in me anticipating this moment greatly.

Rolling 5 Gacha Tokens…

Rolling Results:

1 Common Tier.

1 Uncommon Tier.

2 Rare Tier.

1 Epic Tier.

I will never get tired of these.

I'm curious as to what counts as an 'Epic' tier reward. It's also my first Common pull, but I don't know what the Gacha takes for 'common'. Will it be something like an apple or a pen?

1 Common Item rolled.

1 Uncommon Skill rolled.

1 Rare Weapon rolled.

1 Rare Skill rolled.

1 Epic Skill rolled.

Apple.

A tasty fruit that you can eat. It's really juicy.

I was joking…

[Shadow Step] Lv 1 (0%).

Allows for short-range teleportation by taking a step in your chosen direction. This method of teleportation is untraceable by the common eye. The cooldown will lower with levels.

Oh? A movement Skill…

That's actually pretty neat. This combined with the Dash from the Crystal Armor will let me get in and out like an assassin. Even if I don't have the build of one.

[Tempest Blade].

A sword forged by powerful lightning. The one who wields it will be able to discharge powerful electrical currents through the black steel of this blade.

Right. Weapons…

[Lie Detector] Lv 1 (0%).

This Skill lets you know when someone is trying to lie to you with malicious intent.

Ohoho! Don't mind if I do. Call me Detective Fumigami, 'cause no one can lie to my justice!

Unless you tell me a non-malicious lie, it seems.

[Thought Acceleration] Lv 1 (0%).

By using your mana as the battery, you're able to slow the perception of things happening around you. In this state, you can think freely as long as you have MP. However, you won't be able to move at the same time at the current level.

Oh! That one sounds kind of similar to the one from 'That time I got reincarnated as I slime'.

That's a pretty good one. Even if I can't move while thinking, just being able to think in the case of an emergency is pretty good.

I can also brainstorm Skill ideas without wasting too much time.

I want to try something with this new weapon of mine.

Pulling out the Tempest Blade from my inventory, I take a few swings with it. Nothing seems to be amiss. I can even make it spark with lightning without trouble.

That's where the limit testing ends.

The moment I think about using the weapon for an attack, a painful shock courses through my hand as the sword falls to the ground.

Warning: Weapon Rule Violation!

You're only able to use Spears as a means of attack!

That was expected.

But, it says spears. Not just the 'Legendary Weapon'. Even so, this restriction is pretty annoying. Isn't there a way to get around the restriction completely?

Due to your own desires, a Quest has been given!

Quest: Legendary 'Spear' Hero!

You desire to utilize other weapons besides the Legendary Spear, but that is something that's not normally possible.

Objective:

Unlock at least 100 Weapon Forms. [42/100].

Master at least 50 Weapon Forms. [14/50].

Convince the Legendary Spear Spirit.

''You want to do what?!'' Suddenly, the voice of Jinzui resonates through the apartment.

Oh, boy.

Bonus Scene: Unknown POV.

Looking through the subordinate's recent reports. There seemed to be no changes to my plans whatsoever.

The Devils in Kuoh seemed to be unaware of our presence in their own territory. That only showed the incompetence of this new generation. Truly, to not even identify your mortal enemies in your own yard, while having the same blood as the Satans says much about their competence or lack of it, really.

Knock Knock.

The sound of someone knocking on the door distracts me from my thoughts.

''You may enter,'' I say with a raised eyebrow. At this hour? I have a few guesses.

A black-haired woman enters the room, there is a satisfied smile on her face and a predatory glint hidden in her eyes. The most recognizable feature was her attire, however.

Her 'clothes' consisted of strap-like objects made of black leather attached to her body in what I suppose resembles a dominatrix outfit.

I really didn't understand the strange tastes of this generation, but I guess to each their own.

''Raynare.'' I acknowledge the moment she takes a respectful bow. At the very least, she has some manners. ''You come to my presence awfully late in the day. This better be important.''

''Yes, Kokabiel-Sama.'' She responds, getting up and starting her report. ''We have identified a few Sacred Gear users in Kuoh town, they seem to be unaffiliated, yet dormant. Getting them up to shape for recruitment will take time and effort, should we approach?''

Sigh. Disappointment is the first thing that comes to mind, but there's also opportunity.

A smirk graces my face as I look at my foolish subordinate.

''Don't worry about recruitments, Raynare,'' I inform while looking disinterested at the papers on my desk.

''Sir?'' She asks confused. It seems an explanation is due.

''Just worry about getting all of the Sacred Gear users in the same place,'' I inform. ''Oh, and that excommunicated nun too. I will send you a special technology that Azazel has been working on. The explanation will come after.''

Why recruit and search for loyalty in a race that just doesn't understand? Humans hide and cower at the presence of conflict, and those who embrace it?

They are not even a cut above the standard.

''As expected of our leaders, always ready with a plan of action!'' Raynare says in fanatism. A brightness in her eyes as she smirks.

Ha. As if that fool we call leader knows what anything about plans beyond working on his lab all day.

''Of course. Now, go. You have spent more than necessary of my time with this.'' Explaining future operations at this hour is more than she deserves. I should just have punished her for annoying me at this hour. Fortunately for her, I happen to be in a generous mood.

''Of course, Kokabiel-Sama. I apologize.'' The four winged fallen says before exiting the office.

Now… Those pesky reports.

Author's Note:

.

The Immortal Lake Man: Thank you!

.

JimmySG0: Damn right it is.

.

Lamont: I see your point, and I agree. I will edit Yuuto's gender later. You will have to excuse me, but there's one gender-bend (that has no meaning behind it), that I won't budge from changing. Ajuka becoming Ayuka. Don't get me wrong, I love this character, but his looks are just too... plain.

.

Koncor the great: I will think about it. There are some fun possibilities with making the Spear absorb some Sacred Gears, I think.

.

So, here's the actual update. Sorry for taking so long, it's a few hours behind schedule.

I got distracted playing with friends and forgot to actually edit the chapter, and believe me it took me a long time.

I apologize in advance if there's any easy-to-spot mistake, I'll correct it later.

I actually got a comment in the past chapter about gender-bending characters. The resolution is that Kiba will be a 'He'.

Yes, I changed Ajuka to Ayuka, but I swear that will be the only unnecessary gender-bend of this fic.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it, I'm going to sleep. It's freaking 7 am.

Also: The plot thickens, muehehe.

Edit: I had to modify Koneko's and Sona's stats... twice. How did I fuck up twice? Anyway. Sona is a lot stronger if she uses magic to enhance her body.
