-Rias Gremory POV-

With the last group of students hypnotized and dispatched, worry creeps inside of me as I rush with my peerage to the Student's Council Room.

By the tension in Koneko's shoulders and the way she's almost sprinting through the second floor's hallways, I can tell she's the most worried of all of us, even if she doesn't say anything.

Some students send her a few weird looks, but I don't think she cares.

And I don't either.

Kiba has a serious expression on his face while a glint of anger is present in his eyes and I don't think he even realizes it himself. He always had disgust for exorcists in general, and to know that some of them have been free-roaming in a place he calls his home? I know he's livid.

Akeno appears to be the one with the most composure between us, but the gentle smile she has on her face betrays the sheer coldness in her violet eyes. She was like this the moment 'Fallen' was mentioned, and when Sona's Bishop told us Fumigami went ahead by himself, it only got worse.

These are pretty small things that are not noticed at a simple glance, but I've basically lived all my life with these people I confidently call my family.

Fumigami may have been a recent addition to our closed group, even if he's not part of my peerage. But, it seems that in just a short while, all of us have started seeing him as a friend.

Really, it was easy to get along with him. He doesn't talk much with his fellow students, but I've seen him more relaxed and comfortable when talking or being in the same room with people who got through the 'indifferent' exterior, like Koneko, for example.

It's that same small bond of friendship that generated these boiling emotions within us.

The student's council door is slammed open by Koneko herself. Inside, Sona's bishop, Hanakai Momo, looks worriedly at the magic circle in the room, where her King and Tsubaki are giving the finishing touches.

The Sitri's House circle on the floor lights up, and I can hear a relieved sigh from my childhood friend as she turns to look at our group.

We already know the details thanks to Hanakai; Fallen angels have invaded Kuoh under our noses to steal Sacred Gears from their rightful owners. Then, Fumigami-Kun found out somehow and went directly into confrontation.

Thankfully, he went ahead and called Sona before going in.

I think that's what angers me the most, really. The fact that a friend of mine is in the line of danger and possible death by my sheer incompetence and laziness.

My teeth grit in frustration as my hands clenched, nails biting into the flesh of my palm and everything.

Friends of mine getting into problems or harmed by something I should have dealt with. Ring any damn bells?

''Sona, is there any update from Fumigami-Kun?'' I ask on behalf of the group, as everyone present huddles up and gets in the magic circle, ready for teleportation.

''No.'' She says while biting her lip and shaking her head. ''There's been no call nor message, besides the fact that there's supposed to be only four, two-winged Fallen and a bunch of exorcists. Basically, We are going in blind.''

''So be it,'' Koneko growls out and I nod. These pests will know what happens when you anger the heir of the house of Gremory and the so-called 'Crimson-haired Princess of Ruin.'

Please be alright, Zatren-Kun.

-Freed Sellzen POV-

I'm going to chop this bastard's limbs off, and then feed it to fucking STRAYS.

I can feel a smirk growing until it's practically splitting my face open! Injuries I have never received before covering my torso!

Will they leave a scar? I wonder… I WONDER!

His cocky smile of superiority ticks me off so MUCH. I'll make cuts all over his face to see if he can keep smiling after that!

My grip on the standard exorcist light sword is almost enough to break it apart!

Yes… I've decided.

''I will definitely cut your head off!'' Launching myself at him with lightning speed, I find it funny that, when my blade is blocked off by his weapon, I'm hit by the actual thing!

''Thunderbolt!'' The black-haired bastard shouts before a wave of blue lightning travels through my body. The smell of ozone in the air and the flesh on my palms getting scorched by the grip on my own weapon. Even when the magic subsides and sparks disappear into the air, my libs keep twitching all over by the lightning's residue.

''Do you think this is Pokemon, you dumb-fuck?!'' I grin while pulling out a gun with light infused from my half-destroyed belt, but before I can shoot the teen in the face, the pretty blonde sends a line of energy in my direction that I have to dodge.

''So sad, lost your chance!'' I can't help the laugh coming out of my mouth as I take aim at the girl, and my bitch of a boss seems to have the same idea, as a fuck-ton of spears rain down on the two students.

Bye-bye, sweet cheeks!

The moment I shoot to blow the bimbo's head off, a dome of energy surrounds both teens, making my bullets break against it.

Water, Fire, Lightning, and now Barriers…? What even is this bullshit?!

Fuchsia-colored spears and even a bright pink one are shot to the barrier, and while the last one just pathetically bounces off into contact with it, the ones from the boss lady make the shield tremble and crack!

''You don't look so smug now, dickhead! HAHAHA!'' I can see his confident and crooked grin falter slightly as his body trembles each time a light spear strikes the shield. The previously powerful glow faltered and cracked little by little~

''Boss! Don't push yourself just to protect me, I can handle it!'' Huh? The dumb whore of an 'ally' this idiot has spews some bullshit as if she won't have died already if that barrier wasn't up.

Really, saving her was just adding dead weight to him!

Not like I'll complain if the dumbass wants to shoot himself in the foot! No, wait… I'm the one doing the shooting! HA!

''Freed!'' The shout from the boss lady makes me raise an eyebrow and look at her. Damn is this bitch annoying… ''Move, you fucking fraud of an exorcist!''

Why the fuck would I move- wait. This shit already happened before!

In a single second, the barrier breaks and the spear-wielder shoots at me like a missile, his weapon shining with a glint of purple as he tries to impale me from the side. Not this time~

A clang resounds and I have to admire the resistance of whatever the fuck this pointy stick is made off. Even if I'm using just one standard light blade, that piece of metal should've been cut in half already!

''What happened, cock-sucker? Using the same tricks twice?'' I mock as our weapons struggle in the middle, but the light-bullet-charged gun I aim at his ugly mug says I'm the winner! ''No one likes a mage that repeats his tricks, you know?!''

The moment my finger gets on the trigger; he smirks at me. ''Oh, quit your yapping already. I have a few more tricks…'' What's he rambling about now?

''[Blood Piercing]!.'' Whut- Son of a BITCH!

The tip of that stupid spear lights up in a bloody red this time, and three crimson pikes emerge from the floor. One of them just scraps my side, and I dodge the other by disengaging from him, but the third pierced my fucking LEG!

Some kind of fucking HEMOMANCY, too? Where the fuck did he even get the blood for this?!

''Shit! Are you fuckers going to be useful sometime today?!'' Seriously! That bitch Raynare didn't even heal my previous wounds! 'Consuming too much magic' my ass!

The same bitch I'm talking about finally flies down and engages the boy. The weird spear meets two of her own as they clash.

With a fucking moment of respite, I can see that weak and pathetic Lolita-bitch is fighting and keeping at bay the Sacred Gear blonde. She's avoiding the tendrils, but there's not even any damage besides superficial cuts on her opponent!

Seriously, not even beating a newly awakened Sacred Gear? How useless can this bitch be?!

''Fuck this. I'll just blow her head off…'' Muttering curses, I aim at the blonde's head AGAIN, and this time I can-

''[Meteor Thrust III]!'' My eyes widen in shock as I turn around. This bastard couldn't possibly- SHIT!

Rolling to the side with a groan of pain from the fucking hole in my leg, I can hear a screech of pain from the boss. Turning to look at her, I see that she could survive the hit by barely dodging to the side, the left part of her stomach was severely burnt, and the lower wing on that side just disappeared before the shot kept its trajectory and hit our previous base.

The old church wasn't in the best state, and that's even before I just broke most of the remaining windows or 'objects of worship' for fucks and giggles. Yet, when the attack slams against the structure, and that same structure practically CRUMBLES to the fucking ground…

Yeah, no. This bastard can summon water blades out of nothing, lightning with a word, move as fast as a fricking Knight-pieced devil, use HEMOMANCY without damn BLOOD.

And not content with all of that bullshit, he shoots 'FUCK YOU' beams more than once that could've one-tapped Raynare?!

Fuck that noise. I'm out of here, suckers!

-Zatren Fumigami POV-

Damn. I could've finished her off with that, but Raynare is quite agile while in the air. Those wings aren't just for show, after all.

Pissing them off with some good old Gojo manners was ideal, but I can't say the same for the costs of spamming Hero Skills and Magic to actually back my words up.

A panting but still airborne Raynare glares at me with the heat of a hundred suns… Or a really pissed-off bird. An angry bird? HA!

Anyway, my worry lies elsewhere.

Freed was also in the line of impact, but he has some frustratingly good reflexes. He looked at the destroyed church with a face I couldn't decipher, all the while Sachi was fending off Mittelt as best as she could.

I could try and use Mirror Javelin to fire another Meteor Thrust at Raynare or Freed before they try any funny business (The latter more than the former, really), but if I were to miss, I would have a regenerating enemy and an almost empty SP bar.

Fuck it, I'll take the damn gamble!

''Mirror-'' ''Alright! That's a wrap!'' Wait, what?

Freed, the one who uttered those words clapped a few times before he chortled a manic yet tired laugh. It seems I'm not the only one confused by this, since both Raynare and Mittelt, along with a confused Sachi turn to him.

''Freed. What the fuck are you-'' ''No, no, no!'' Freed Interrupts again and Raynare's face becomes absolutely livid, she even sprouts sharp fangs all over her mouth.

That's not all, before she can even snap at him again, he points his finger to the flying fallen, before shouting in a frenzy. ''You're the SHITTIEST boss I have EVER worked for, let me tell you that!'' My eyes widen, and I can't help a snort that escapes me. ''Not even the CHURCH were as fucking bothersome as you!''

What is happening right now?

Either way, Raynare seems just this close to popping a vein as her face turns red at the absolute insubordination. Well… If they want to tear at each other's throats, be my guest.

I can lay off the [Reinforcement] to the minimum to not consume much, and like this, I can just crank it up to the max without deactivating the Skill.

''Wow, now that's some Leading 101 you have going for you, crow-face.'' I mock while I take the moment of respite to recharge SP, yet the exorcist points his finger at me next. His smile turned into a frown like he just sucked on a lemon.

''YOU!'' Me?

One of my eyebrows raises in bemusement at the ridiculous scene as I point a finger at myself. ''You talkin' to me, dickface?''

''Yes, you!'' He repeats while snarling. ''You're the most annoying motherfucker I have fought in my life! What the fuck are those flashy attacks you keep throwing around?! Do you think you're some kind of Magical Girl character, dipshit?!''

''Freed… what the fuck… are you doing right now?'' The calmer voice of Mittelt speaks, surprisingly without interruption, but by her ragged breaths and the fact that it seems like she's about to collapse under her own weight, I can tell it's less being 'calm' and more like being dead tired.

The exorcist turns to the half-dead fallen before his expression blanks. He goes to say something to her, probably some kind of insult or slur but seems to back down at the last minute. Instead, a calm voice, which I feel it's twice as unnerving as his crazy and slurred speech, responds to his ally's question. ''I'm not even wasting my breath with you.''

His half-destroyed coat opens, revealing some kind of small and cylindrical object, kind of like a small spray bottle, and- OH SHIT! ''So long, fools!'' Freed throws the object on the ground, and an almost impossibly bright light blinds me, while a ringing sound bounces around in my ears.

''Shit!'' ''Fuck!'' ''I'll tear your fucking dick off with a wood chipper, Freed!'' No prizes for the one who guesses which one said the last one.

Son of a bitch just flashed me- No, that sounds way too wrong…

He flash-banged me- Nope that's not it either.

Ahh, fuck it! It doesn't matter!

The throb in my head subsides slightly, and I can finally fucking see.

There's no one to be found where the crazy exorcist was before. Everyone looks at where once was an ally/enemy, and silence reigns supreme in the beautiful clearing around the forest.

Well… Beautiful if there wasn't a destroyed building and a bunch of corpses from stray exorcists around. I almost forgot about those, actually; since I led most of them to the actual thicket of the lush and green trees to stealth-kill them.

''Well, that was a good disappearing trick, huh?'' I smirk while looking at the group for any reactions.

Sachi just looked absolutely dumbfounded at the scene. Mittelt seems like she wants to either kill the now missing man, kill herself, or drink herself into a coma. Maybe all of the above?

Raynare's face is a mess. Her right eye twitched uncontrollably and the newly discovered sharp teeth grit in sheer, potent and unfiltered rage, and- Holy shit she popped a blood vessel in her eye!

Crimson liquid taints her white pupil as the blood seeps around the globe. Two spears made of holy light appear on her hands, as a deep, guttural scream tore through her throat.

''FREED, I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!''

Sheesh…

-Mittelt POV-

Well, shit.

My legs collapse as a wet cough escapes my mouth. This damn girl, even if I'm in this state, I couldn't even give her a substantial injury besides light cuts around the arms.

If it wasn't for the black-haired kid, I could've defeated her easily! Where the fuck did he even come from? He's not even a devil!

So, how the fuck did he find us. Scratch that, how is he spamming different types of magic like it's just saying the words and letting the world do the rest? Isn't human magic supposed to be about complex calculations or some shit?!

Fucking. Bullshit.

I cough again, violently this time. When did I even pierce a lung? Did those water blades do it?

As my hands hit the grass and dirt below. I can feel my chest getting colder by the second, and not even the afternoon sun can warm me up enough. Isn't it way too cold for Spring? It must be a really low-temperature today…

I'm dying, aren't I?

Just like that? Just killed off like a mutt by a weird-ass mage and a recently awakened Sacred Gear User?

Wait… Sacred Gear…?

My eyes widen in realization as the fog in my mind clears for a moment. I can suddenly feel a second wind doing its fucking best to keep me alive, if for a moment!

''Rayna…re…'' Shit, my voice is no more than a damn whisper, but that seems to be enough to take the attention from my leader and our supposed enemies. The injured and angry four-winged fallen turned her gaze to me, and I tried to move my hand, reaching in her direction.

''Please… Help… me…'' One more cough for the count, but before I can feel relieved to get my message across, Raynare's face goes from rage to sheer disgust and apathy- what?

''Help you? Why should I waste a single drop of magic in healing such a useless subordinate?'' My eyes widen as much as they can, as my supposed leader takes to the sky once more. Twilight Healing glows a bright green as her injuries slowly disappear.

''Don't worry, though. Once I kill these weaklings, I'll throw you in a ditch somewhere, along with whatever remains of Kalawarma. Then, it's just a matter of reporting back to Kokabiel-Sama of your utter failure to not die.'' My fellow Fallen smirks sadistically from her position in the air.

What?

Laughter. A sinister and cruel laugh escapes Raynare as her body and missing wing heal completely. The absolutely ugly and sharp smile full of teeth almost split her face apart with a mocking glee.

Why won't she heal me?!

What does she even mean by reporting to Kokabiel?! Aren't we here on Azazel's orders?!

That was our mission, right? To go in and steal the two Sacred Gears, along with taking the one from the blonde- From Asia… Right?

Then why are you leaving me to die…?

Why are you looking at me like I'm just another bug in this grassy forest…?

Why…?

Why do I have to die here…? For your own selfish desire? For this stupid fucking mission?

For being too weak…?

I can't help it. Rage ends up simmering down at death's door. Tears of impotence exit my eyes and travel down my bloodied face. My grip on the grass blades beneath my fingers felt weaker and weaker by the moment.

So that's it. This is how I die- Warmth.

In a single moment, I feel myself being lifted up by something- No. Someone. My almost closed-off eyes stare ahead, my vision is blurry, but I can definitely see the black hair atop a pale skin tone. My eyes focus slightly, and I can see a face.

Unblinking hazel orbs stare at me, a face without any perceptible expression from the mage I was trying and failing to injure just a few moments ago, but then… His expression softens up…?

Previously cocky and arrogant eyes look upon my form with a sense of empathy. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, and right now I can only see the emotions behind his.

Pity. At the state I'm in.

Anger. At me? Or at the laughing Fallen in the sky?

Doubt. At… something.

Then, warmth. A deep warmth I don't think I've ever seen in another person before. As if an angel descended from heaven to give some final comfort to a dying soul. Yet, when he spoke, the words didn't offer pity or comfort while I was at death's door.

''Mittelt. Daughter of Azazel, do you wish to live?'' His voice was determined and commanding, but not harsh and demanding like Raynare's.

He didn't offer me peace of mind. He offered me an opportunity.

''Yes… I want to…HRK-'' The blood coming from my pierced lungs splatters across my outfit and the Mage's coat, but he doesn't seem to care, and that's more than enough for me to finish. ''Live…''

''I… want to live,'' I repeat as if trying to convince myself and not the person in front of me. After a moment, my eyes widen in surprise, as I take a deep breath of air.

There's no coughing this time. My vision totally returned, and what I imagined a saving angel looked like, revealed the smiling face of my almost killer and now savior.

I can feel the strength returning to my limbs and the lethal wounds closing and mending, slowly but surely.

As I'm put down, the tall (for me) boy in front of me takes his hand away. The warmth faded from my body, but it didn't fade from his hazel eyes.

''Then… live for me, Mittelt.'' Now with a clear head, I can feel a pinch of embarrassment appearing on my face, along with a small blush.

But, as I stabilize on my own two legs, I can't help but think…

What kind of corny-ass line is that?!

Ugh… Whatever. It beats working for that doubled-faced traitor I called a leader.

-Zatren POV-

Well… I always thought that 'Talk no-Jutsu' was absolutely dumb, but it seems I've been proved wrong. How's that for size, huh?

''Fumigami… You sure about this?'' Sachi asks with a doubtful expression and clear distrust of her previous kidnappers and almost-killers. Reasonable, really; I don't think this shit happens every Monday or so.

Mittelt looks nervously between us, and then she looks at her previous boss. A snarl replaces her worry and I have to say; the moe-gap between her looking like a lost puppy not a minute ago, and the righteous fury she expresses now, is really something else.

Her dress was pretty torn before, but now? It's almost like rags. The fight between her and Sachi must have made the looser parts of the cloth fall apart, revealing smooth skin beneath the black dress.

Her thigh-high, white socks are cut and have holes all over, while the lower part of the dress which resembles a frilly skirt is almost non-existent now, leaving in the open the suspenders that tie her socks to her underwear. Finally, the shoulders and torso of the gothic outfit are quite in shambles, and I can see a hint of a laced, black corset.

I think the most intact thing is the black bow on her head, which keeps her hair styled in twin-tails, and her black shoes.

Now that's some top-tier fan service.

''Tch. So instead of at least dying like a loyal warrior, no matter how pathetic, you just decide to look for pity from the enemy?'' Raynare spits her words like venom, and I have to remember we're still in a fight to the death here. ''Truly, I should've just killed you myself.''

''Oh yeah?'' A fully recovered Mittelt talks back to her former boss. A pink spear of light appears on her hand as two thin, feathery wings spread from her back, the black-like ink appendages flap as she shoots into the sky and directly in Raynare's direction. ''Well, Fuck you too!''

Man, how can so much anger fit in such a petite girl?

''Genshirou-San, get ready to shoot a tendril at the fallen with four wings. I'll help Mittelt take her down.'' [Reinforcement] pumps through my body at full force once again as Mittelt and Raynare clash in the air. While the initial rush may have caught Raynare off-guard, it's clear who's the strongest between the two.

I think she's saying something to Mittelt because the blonde's fallen face erupts with anger as she relentlessly tries to land a hit on her senior. The attacks are always blocked or evaded by a more skillful and experienced Raynare.

''Huh?! But… They're in the sky!'' Sachi exclaims the obvious while looking at the two fighting fallen, and then me repeatedly. I think smoke is coming out of her ears at this point. I won't judge, her reality shattered and molded around the situation a few minutes ago, after all. ''How are you going to even get there?!''

''Oh ye of little faith'' I let a crooked smirk appear on my face as I check the special ability on my hidden armor. It's a very specific description, and the same wording is shared by [Shadow Step], too.

Crystal Armor Bonus: Dash.

Once every 30 seconds, it allows the wearer to dash incredibly fast to the direction of their choosing. The max range for this ability is 20 meters.

any direction I want, is it? You spoil me~

It's going to be close, but definitely possible. So, with spear in hand, I circle around the aerial fighters, looking for an opening to execute my plan. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait long, even if it wasn't in the best situation.

Raynare, tired of playing around with her ex-subordinate, made a faint with one of her spears that made Mittelt flinch and try to block an attack that was never there in the first place. It was at that moment that she decided to finish the confrontation by impalement.

Yet, as the wide-eyed Mittelt was about to be killed off for good by the four-winged Fallen's stronger weapon, I chose that moment to act. ''[Tri-Strike Javelin II]!'' Three translucent and overcharged lightning spears flew from around me in the direction of that ugly bitch that Mittelt called leader once.

My shout stopped Raynare in her tracks, her head almost suffered from a whiplash by how fast she turned to look at the incoming attacks. She growls in frustration as more light weaponry appears around her to collide with my own spears in the air. Yet, her movements are sluggish, exertion clear in her form. Of course, fighting multiple opponents for a long time and having to heal at least twice from serious damage would leave anyone exhausted.

That moment of not focusing on her own opponent is more than enough, as Mittelt takes the chance to pay back all her pain on the bitch who treated her like shit.

Raynare may have access to powerful ranged attacks and an extensive mana pool, but her actual flesh isn't that much tougher than the weaker Fallen that she disrespected so much. This is proved by that same unappreciated girl who lashes at her.

With a wide-arced swipe, a superficial gash opens on Raynare's back, but that's not the real prize. The four-winged Fallen becomes three-winged once again, as the motion of the attack was enough to cut one of her wings off.

''Atta, girl!'' ''AGH- You pathetic maggot!'' Mine and Raynare's voices exclaim. The sudden loss of one of the limbs that helped her stay in the air destabilizes her enough for me to finally end this once and for all.

A pinkish glow surrounds my form as I dash upwards, crystal-like sparks left in my trail as I reach the two Fallen in no more than a second. I feel slightly dazed at the sudden movement, but it's not enough of an inconvenience to miss my mark.

Both fallen gasp at my sudden movement, but Raynare's reaction time is on point as she tries to gut me open now that I'm immobile in the air… or that's what she thinks, at least.

''BACK DOWN, BITCH!'' Powerful sound waves escape my mouth as I shout almost directly in her face. It actually sends her a bit further up, but the effect is as intended, as she screeches in pain, blood seeping from her ears by clearly ruptured eardrums.

I can also hear Mittelt's own painful shout, but less intense since she wasn't in the direct line of attack. Oops… Sorry, Mil-Mil!

Before I fall to the ground like a dumbass, I [Shadow Step] above the screeching three-winged woman, and I manage to do a spin in the air. A perfect move for the massive axe-kick I hit her head with.

''Genshirou! Now!'' As Raynare plummets to the floor by the powerful, [Reinforcement] infused kick, Sachi readies her Absorption Line and takes aim.

''On it, Boss!'' Raynare hits the ground as a dust cloud covers the clearing, and the only thing that can be seen is a purple tendril being shot from Sachi's glove, and connecting to something in the middle of all the dust and dirt.

''Get Good, scrub-! Ah, shit!'' It's a good moment to remember I'm about 7 stories in the air.

I brace myself for impact, but before my body can catch momentum to slam down on the floor, a pair of thin arms wrap around my torso, and I start slowly descending to the ground below.

I turn my head to see Mittelt with a satisfied smirk on her face while looking at where the dust cloud once was, now revealing a half-conscious and struggling Raynare, as her stamina is drained second by second thanks to Sachi's Sacred Gear.

''Ah… Thank you, Mittelt-San. That would have been one nasty fall.'' Mittelt flinches for a moment and turns to look at me, a complicated expression on her face as she looks at me.

''WhAAt?'' Her voice doesn't even match according to the volume we're speaking in. Ah, That's on me, let me fix it really quick.

Canalizing [Healing Touch] for the second time today, I quickly heal up her ears. This doesn't take much MP, fortunately.

At least, it takes less than what it took to bring her from the brink of death. I had to actually use part of my HP bar to heal her up, and that left me sitting at around seventy-ish percent or so.

''That's better, right?'' Her eyes widen as she makes an O with her mouth which I have to admit is a bit funny. ''I was saying; thank you for catching me, Mittelt-San.''

She seems to feel quite a bit awkward, as she finally lets me on the solid ground, she stops holding me and instead floats a bit above me thanks to her wings. ''No problem… Fuminami, right?'' Close, but not quite. I don't blame you; a fight to the death isn't a place where I focus on learning names either. Let alone the enemy's or former enemy's names.

''Fumigami, actually, but good guess.'' She nods awkwardly and stays in silence. I finally take a breath and deactivate [Reinforcement] completely. My MP bar is not going to empty if I keep it up a bit more, but it's getting there slowly but surely.

I get close to my fellow student who is looking marveled at her Sacred Gear. Right, she's basically receiving the equal of a full night's rest and a heavily caffeinated drink right now, since I think Raynare had quite a bit of energy in her.

''Good job, Genshirou-San. You did good.'' My words break her of her focused state, as she turns with a roguish smile to give me a thumbs up. I feel I'll get along with her pretty well from now on.

I give her a nod and turn my attention to the perpetrator of devil territory, and the maker of this whole fiasco. Well, that would be Kokabiel, actually, but you get my point.

''I have to say, you were quite annoying to fight, but I did tell you I was going to win, didn't I?'' The Fallen just uses the vestiges of energy she has remaining to glare at me. Maybe it would be more intimidating if she wasn't almost dead.

Oh, way. She can't hear me since I busted the fuck out of her eardrums.

Damn, and I wanted to gloat a bit more, too… Meh.

Let's just finish the job.

I twirl my spear around my hand for a moment before pointing the spear tip directly above her head. My hand tenses as I pull back my weapon. ''You had this coming. See you in hell, crow.''

Before I can deal the lethal blow, my eyes widen as a new magic signature flares up from close by. My head turns as I spot one previously unconscious Dohnaseek with a red gauntlet covering his arm and my eyes widen the moment his eyes leave me and focus on my fellow human

I'm not his target. Sachi is.

Shit!

''Genshirou!'' ''BOOST!'' My warning comes a moment too late, as Dohnaseek's form becomes a blur, and in just a moment, Sachi is sent flying by a well-placed gut punch from the Fallen.

The tendril from Absorption Line is cut off, as the girl I just put in this supernatural world crashes against a tree with a resounding CRACK. Probably coming from her spine smashing against the sturdy tree bark.

Dohnaseek turns to me next with a condescending smile on his face. A blue-colored light spear irradiating a power it shouldn't have appeared on his hand. ''Well, that's one down for the count and two more to go. I have to hurry up and clear you off your impurities now.''

He laughs a bit and tips his black fedora before a crazy glint enters his eyes, the smile turning into a savage grin. ''Can't have a pest who associates with devils and a traitor left unchecked now, can we?''

My face remains calm for a moment before a crooked smirk blooms on my face. The apparently mocking smile doesn't reach my eyes, and those same orbs are what make the Fallen in front of me pause.

''I'm sure you unlock a good weapon form, you son of a bitch.''

Author's Note:

Thanks for all the reviews! Sorry if I don't answer all of them on private messages :c. I don't want to just fill you guy's inbox with every chapter lol.

.

Lamont: There will be more changes, but I won't change much of the storyline (for now). Season 1 should not derail that much, but it definitely isn't the same.

.

Freed: I'm getting the milk! So long, suckers!

Zatren: You can't steal my jokes!

Sachi: ?

Mittelt: What the fuck is my life.

Well, there we go. I didn't expect this fight to prolong into a third chapter, but when I hit the 5k words mark I said ''This will be too long if I keep going, so I'll make it a three part.'' Anyway, hope you enjoyed it.

Also, from an outside perspective, Zatren's full abilities (at the moment) must look crazy as fuck. Bro is throwing around spells like they're candy, moving fast as hell thanks to Shadow Step, and just being downright unpredictable unless you know his moves already. That and Freed's personality made me think ''Yeah, this dude will definitively run away against an opponent like this.''
