She cried as her heart thumped against her chest when she returned and realized what he had done.

When she stepped out of the well house, he wasn't there.

Kagome stayed in the future for a year as the color of the season changed, not knowing how to get back to him. At first, she didnt want to, it was the whole reason she left. But her heart would not leave her be, and as time went on she longed to go back to him.
