Chapter Two: Planning an Assault
(Godolkin University, New York)
(August 12, 2019)
"Now that we have all introduced ourselves how about we talk about heroes and their actions." I said as I looked at the class.
Finn raised her hand.
Finn McCloud is a blonde girl with tan skin.
A supe from Malibu, California. She has the ability to turn intangible.
"Yes Ms. McCloud?" I asked.
"Professor I am just wondering what any of this as to do with crimefighting?" Finn asked.
"Yeah, what she said." Adam Davenport said. "I came to learn to be a hero. Not have boring discussions."
Adam is a supe from Mission Creek, California. He has superstrength.
He is certainly fitting the stereotype people have with his power.
"If you want to know about crimefighting I can teach you plenty babe." Reef boasted throwing a look at Finn.
Reef (Leslie) Marhsall is a supe from Hawaii with the ability to absorb materials.
"Thank you, Mr. Marhsall, but that is not needed. In regard to your question Ms. McCloud I am to teach you about crimefighting yes but before we could even begin that discussion, we need to talk about what heroes are and what motivates them." I said.
Danny and Vlad both had reasons for why they had gone down their respective paths.
Finn lowered her hand.
"Now class tell me what you believe a superhero does?" I asked.
A couple of students raised their hands.
"Ms. Ridgemont." I said.
Lauren "Lo" Ridgemont is a supe from Boston. She had the ability to turn people to stone.
"They star in movies." Lo said.
"They get all the girls." Francis said.
He had not raised his hand. I also do not believe girl is the word that he wanted to use.
Francis Stone has spiky red hair with yellow highlights
Francis is a supe from Dakota City, Michigan with the power of pyrokinesis.
"They get respect." Ivan said tapping the table. "People know better than to cross them."
Ivan Evans had not raised his hand either.
Like Francis Ivan is also from Dakota City.
Ivan is also one of those that transformed due to compound V. Ivan's skin is a mixture of purple and black. Neither his face nor his mouth was visible. The only clothes visible on him is his grey vest.
I held a sigh at that.
This is what the supes of this world managed to convince people to believe.
"No. Being a hero is about helping people." Finn said.
"Interesting answers but none of you are correct." I said.
The class had a confused look on their face.
"The lot of you have confused the results of heroism with what they are supposed to." I said. "A hero, first of all, is a person that chases an ideal."
I could see that I lost them.
"In ancient times heroes were people that were forced to face incredible odds. Against a challenge that their fellow villagers and powerful rulers believed impossible." I said as I looked around the room. "What motivated them to do this? What were they striving for? honor and fame would follow yes but what they fought for is for the safety of family, for the pleasure of avenging a wrong done to them, for the idea of saving everyone in front of them."
I could see something of an understanding dawn in their eyes.
"As a child my father told me the story of a hero from Najap." I lied as I began my story. "Yes, that is Japan rearranged. I figured that out later but that is not important. The story goes like this. One day in the village of Fuyuki there was a massive fire. Countless people lost their lives. Yet among the survivors there was a little boy. As the fire raged around him, he was found by a wizard. The boy was saved but alone in the world. The wizard adopted the boy and under the full moon told him his dream. To save as many people as he could. to bring peace to the world. The wizard admitted that as he got older it was harder to keep on to the dream. The boy said that he would continue the dream if the wizard got too old."
Some students smiled at the story while others rolled their eyes.
"The wizard died but the boy kept the dream alive with determination. Never retreating even if betrayed or dismayed he made is way up that hill." I said.
"And it ended happily ever after." Ivan mocked.
"No." I said shaking my head. "The boy now a man ended up misunderstood and betrayed by the people he was trying to save. They could not understand someone so unselfish and determined. They considered him crazy, and his enemies used that to their advantage."
Now the students were confused. Some were frowning.
"Even that did not discourage him. As he waited to die, he made a with what he believed to be the spirit of the world. In return for accepting him he would continue his path and remove those that would endanger the world." I continued.
"Fool." Francis muttered.
"His friends would certainly say that. He never truly lived his life and now he would reject the peace that his death would give him. Some say that when the hero reached the end of his hill, he despaired at what he found and would be forced to do for the rest of eternity."
Lo raised her hand.
"Yes Ms. Ridgemont?" I asked.
"Why are you telling us this story?" Lo asked.
"I had the same question when I heard it. As my father told me because it is not over yet." I answered. "One day the man met another similar to how he used to be. He tried to kill the boy to prevent history repeating itself but during the fight he remembered something. That the dream, the ideal they eld was beautiful. Even if that final step on that hill is where the hero ended it did not mean others that follow the path will meet the same end. That the journey was more important than the destination."
Some frowns were placed by introspective looks.
"A quote I read once said "Through action, a Man becomes a Hero. Through death, a Hero becomes a Legend. Through time, a Legend becomes a Myth And by learning from the Myth, a Man takes action.'' Heroes fight for ideals and dreams. You wish to fight crime but before that you must know why you are fighting and what you are fighting for." I said. "By the end of the semester I would like for all of you to have at least an idea of where to begin for why you are fighting crime."
I pulled out the smartboard remote and changed the screen to an image of the statue of Perseus.
"I will describe the myth of Perseus and then we can discuss what we believe drove him."
Anna-Maria DeLuca raised her hand.
"Yes Ms. DeLuca." I said.
Anna-Maria DeLuca is a supe from New Jersey. She has the power to turn into smoke.
"What did you fight for?" Anna Maria asked.
'Ah yes.' I thought with annoyance.
Part of my backstory for this world is that before coming to work here I was a hero on a team called the Union of Justice. I was the youngest member and joined when I was eighteen. The team consisted of Thunderman, Mr. Incredible, Elastagirl, Electress, Frozone and I.
That was fourteen years ago.
There were a lot of things I had to learn when I first arrived in this world.
"I fought so that people could enjoy their lives in peace." I said. "Without worrying about whether they would be the victim of a crime."
I watched their faces.
"You should know that attending Godolkin University is a lot easier than being a hero. Being a hero is not easy. it is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will, five percent pleasure, and fifty percent pain. Even afterwards it will require you to give another hundred percent for the people to remember your name." I warned.
Seeing their eyes, I moved back to the slide.

(Brink's office)
I walked into the room.
At the end of the long hall is Brink's office.
"Hello." I said to the teen sitting at the desk.
In a couple of years Jordan Li would have sat in that seat.
The name floating above his head is Lazlo Brown.
"Can I help you?" Lazlo Brown asked.
[Observe] I cast.
Observe is a spell that allows me further inspection into a person or an object. At my current level with the spell, I could see how much health, magical power, strength, agility, and intelligence a person has.

"I have a meeting with Professor Brinkhoff." I said.
Godolkin University is a difficult place not just for the students but the teachers as well. First year professors were not given their own offices as the school were unsure if they would keep them. They had to work for the honor of receiving a room.
For now, all I had was my classroom, and I had to take my stuff with me when I left for another professor.
Good thing I had the inventory.
Looking around I could see pictures of Queen Maeve, A-train, The Deep, Blue Hawk, and other heroes that Brink trained and taught.
All members taught by Brink became members of The Ten. The Ten is a creation of brink to push students. In reality it is a popularity contests determined by the board and sponsors.
Still, it was rare to see a picture of Queen Maeve with her original red hair instead of the blonde she wore now.
"Come in." Brink said.

I walked to the door and opened it.
"How was your first day with Intro?" Brink asked facing his table.
"Alright. Seems like a nice bunch of students." I said.
I had to fight the urge to turn him into a snail. Afterwards I would go to the cafeteria and buy some salt before I returned to find him trying to leave his desk.
Brink is a horrible man. He ran experiments on his students. Kidnapped children and used telepaths to remove the memory of them. Underneath our feet is a medical facility where supes are being tortured.
Who knows how many twisted programs he is running?
By the time of his death Luke did not even remember the way their first meeting went.
I held back because it was too soon. I just start working here and someone causes him to go missing. No, he was too popular to go missing right now.
The same could not be said for the other members of the faculty staff.
"I enjoyed teaching that class. So many minds lost and nervous just waiting for direction." Brink said.
There needed to be ominous music to match his words. The afternoon light coming from the window was nowhere near enough.
"Hopefully I will feel the same." I said.
"Are you hungry?" Brink asked. "I planned on getting something from this great sandwich place I know on Waverly Street."

"I was heading home and making myself something, but I could go for a sandwich." I said accepting the quest.
He wanted something.
What was it?

"Here you go." Theresa said handing him his sandwich.
"Thanks." I said as I walked to the table.
I used the time walking back to look around. This sandwich shop looked like it was modeled after a subway car.
"You never attended Godolkin University, correct?" Brink asked.
"Correct." I answered as I looked around. "I was homeschooled until I joined the Union of Justice."
"Do you miss being on the team?" Brink asked.
"It was a part of my life, but I am ready to move on." I said.
"I am surprised to hear that. Most supes I have met would do anything to be in the spotlight." Brink said.
"The only constant in life is change." I said.
Looking at the television I could see Madelyn Stillwell introducing Annie January as the selection choice as the newest member of The Seven. In the next week she would arrive in New York.
As I saw that smile, I could only imagine how it would be broken in the years to come.
She was not the only one.
Dean Shetty would start researching a virus if her family was not saved.
"What do you think about this year's graduating class?" I asked.
The current fourth years were beyond my ability to help. Not enough time. They had already spent four years at this school and came to believe that they only mattered if they became the best.
"They are great. They have met every expectation that we had for them." Brink said.
"Tell me about your favorites. Do you think there is going to be any change to The Ten this semester?" I asked.
"Ah Alex I have been in this game too long to start boasting this early. We will just have to see if the ten can keep their spot or if they have started slipping. " Brink said.
"Alright I won't push you." I said.
Whatever he wanted was not a conversation that he would brin up so it seems I would have to make the first move.
"I have been wondering something." I said.
"Yes?" Brink asked.
"Do you know who I would have to talk to if I wanted my stay to be certain?" I asked. "Dean Shetty? The School Board? I am certain someone would be open to having a conversation."
Let him think I wanted to bribe someone.
The corrupt only trust those that are corrupted.
He had memories of how that world worked. Vlad was the C.E.O. of Dalvtech.
"There is a group that judges the professors, but I certainly can't approve of that sort of action." Brink said.
"Of course." I said nodding at his lie.
"How would you feel if I paid a visit to your class?" Brink asked. "Nothing serious. Just to give a lecture from time to time. For old time's sake."
"I will need to think on it, but I see no problem with it." I said.
Not like I could say anything else. He is the head of the department.
Another screen popped up.

I tapped the screen.

I saw the money appear on the screen.
After seeing it appear in a flash the first time, I completed a quest I caned it so that it appeared on the screen and for me to pull out later.
No bank that I took the money to had a problem with accepting it. As far as I could tell they considered the money real even if it was conjured by a magic screen.
Anyway, it was time for me to head home and plan my next move.

(Ardsley, New York)
I walked to door of my home.
The place was designed to be a boarding home. Plenty of space to rearrange and alter to my desire.
It made me suspicious to what V intended.
"Welcome master. Tech-12 is ready and willing to serve." Tech-12 said from a nearby panel.
Tech-12 is an artificial entity created by and brought to life by the rat talisman. I would have been nervous just creating an A.I. with the superpowers around.
Instead, I used the rat talisman to create a being based on Technus with the ability to go into and manipulate technology.
The main body resides here but part of it protects my phone.
I walked to the bookshelf and pressed the button at the side of the second self from the top. That button activated a secret door behind the coat closet. Walking down the secret path led to a locked door.
Some would say this is too complicated and unneeded.
With what I was planning and my enemy having super hearing having a place like this was a must.
I had initially wanted to cover the house in zinc but learned that could be poisonous.
So now I am looking for magical solutions.
I walked down the ladder and walked to the door.
Placing the secret code in the door opened.
"Bring up an image of target S.E.-1456." I said pulling out a notebook and pen.
Projected in front of me is a holographic image of Stan Edgar.
I tapped my pen on the notebook. The sound of the ballpoint was helping me think.
The moment that I appeared in this world I wanted to take down Homelander. The first thought was to use the talismans. The tiger talisman to split Homelander into two halves of good and evil.
That plan went away after a second of thinking about what a pure evil Homelander would do.
We would not be able to hold him. Neither would it be likely for Good Homelander to kill him.
Then I thought about drowning him under the ocean with the Rooster talisman.
The problem with that is I did not know if he would be able to fight the telekinetic force.
Using it to send him into space would be a good idea if I knew that he could not fly back.
I needed information and the man with the most of it is Stan. He has been working for the company since the nineteen-seventies.
"Bring up an image of bodyguards for target S.E.-1456." I said.
The next moment the image of Stan his surrounded by is four bodyguards. Rob Belucci, Bartolomew Lueno, Karie Fanzone, Karl Kauza.
Each is a supe with their own power. Rob can transform into a leopard, Bartolomew can create doors in space, Karla can create soap bubbles that weaken a person, and Karl can separate his body pieces and use them independently.
There had to be a way to reach him.
A purple screen popped up.

I was not about to deny the quest. I would complete it and achieve level seven.
Maybe I needed some inspiration?
"Bring up superhumans in the book collection." I said.
In the first dungeon I opened to practice the talismans power I found a copy of Amity Park. In that copy I found countless videos and books I had never seen before in either the memories of Danny or Vlad.
"What powers are you looking for?" tech-12 asked.
"Teleportation." I answered.
After looking at the list I chose Fugan and Mugan from Tiger and Bunny. Mugan has the ability to teleport and the other Fugan could counter any attack and turn it back on his attacker.
The two of them had been villains attacking heroes to prove that they were better than their hero L.L. Audun.
It seemed fitting to use them.
I had Tech-12 print out two pictures of the villain team. I walked to the art room and placed both drawings on the canvas for accuracy. Before I could make a move, I received a call.

(Jameson hotel, Central City, Kansas)
"Hello Helen." I said as I took a seat the bar. "Is something the matter?"
Helen Parr. The heroine that goes by the name Elastigrl.
Helen is in her mid-thirties. She has short reddish-brown hair. She is wearing a blue dress that parted at the thigh.
"Yes." Helen answered. "It's Bob."
Bob Parr is her husband. The hero that goes by the name Mr. Incredible.
"Yes?" I asked. "Has something happened?"
Bob did always have an anger issue. Had he hurt someone?
"He has been miserable lately." Helen answered. "He misses the life. Lately he has been parked near the old Union of Justice headquarters and drinking beers."
"It sucks but Vought has its policy." I said.
Supes are a precious commodity to Vought but that only goes so far. After a certain age the company puts you in less advertisements and movies.
You are basically told to go and find something else to do.
Most never do. They spiral downwards and become obsessed with the past.
A midlife crisis that never ends.
It is that feat that led A-train to take compound V.
"Do you want me to talk about it with him?" I asked.
Bob and I were not exactly friends according to the information I learned. Apparently, he had a problem with the fact that most of the teams' movies had villains that were about us rather than him. It was even worse with the team leader Thunderman.
"Not exactly. You still have friends in Vought." Helen said as she placed her hand atop mine. "Could you talk to someone about making a new movie with him?"
The moment Helen placed her hand I realized what this was. It explained the dress she was wearing and the hotel they were at.
I was about to think what I could get out of this when they appeared.
"You cannot do this." Danny said.
"Don't listen to the kid." Vlad said. "She offered."
"Helen is married." Danny said.
"To an idiot." Vlad countered. "She would be happier without him."
"She has two children. An older daughter and a younger son." Danny said "Do you not see the resemblance?"
'Thanks Tiger talisman.' I thought with sarcasm.
Spiritual balance seemed useful in the beginning, but I am starting to change my mind.
"I still believe it would be an improvement." Vlad said.
"Do not be like Vlad. His Obsession for Maddie being what started this mess." Danny countered.
"If you listen to this fool, you will be alone for the rest of your life. You are not here to be a hero but to teach idiot supes. You deserve a life." Vlad said.
"It is wrong. He is here to save the world." Danny countered.
"Saving the word without living in it is hypocrisy. Do you want to end up like the hero Emiya? Unknown to life and Unknown to death? If you fight for an ideal you can only save an ideal." Vlad said.
I removed Helen's hand.
"You do not have to do this. I will help you." I said.
"Thank you." Helen said as she brought me into a hug.
"How are you going to accomplish your mission?" Vlad asked "Are you going to let a little thing like morality stop you from moving forward? how do you plan to stop people like Homelander then? Do you think is victims will be happy in the end that you fought with honor?"
I knew Vlad was right. This action was mostly to honor the original that I was created from.
It would be the only time I would let sentimentality get in the way.
Still, I needed to prove it to myself.
It was a good thing Helen could not see my eyes. She would be surprised by how cold they look.
As Helen walked away, I pulled out my phone.
"Tech-12." I said.
"Yes Master?" Tech-12 asked.
"Bring up my fan list." I said.
Helen had gotten me worked up and I needed to blow off some steam. So, I would find one willing to help.

(Peach Creek, Georgia)
I approached the apartment.
Tech-12 had given me a list and so I chose twenty-one-year-old superfan Sierra Jones.
Sierra Jones is the president of my Georgia branch fan club. According to my backstory my number one fan had sent plenty of letters before and after I arrived in this world.
"EEE. Chimera, you came." Sierra squealed.
Sierra is a woman with brown skin and purple hair. She wore a yellow top and blue jeans. She wore a pendant around her neck
I was glad I was not a supe at this moment. The frequency of that squeal would have hurt.
"Can I come inside?" I asked.
"Sure, my roommate will not be back for a few more ours." Sierra answered.
"I have a problem, and I need help from the president of my fan club." I said. "I need to burn some energy off and I was hoping that you could help me."
"Sure, anything I can do to help." Sierra answered.
She quivered with anticipation.
I tilted her chin up and kissed her.

I looked at the materials around me.
Using the rooster talisman, I manipulated the clay to take shape.
Still since I was doing this I might as well have some fun.
"Heed my call, my will creates your body, And your actions will help create my destiny. The talismans force you to Obey my will and reason. Answer my summoning! I hereby swear, that I shall be all good in the world. I shall attain all virtues of all of Heaven; I also swear I shall have dominion over all the evils of all of Hell. Ye first, O silver, O iron. O stone of the foundation. The dragon is the Archduke of the Contract. Let the descending winds be as a wall. gates in the four directions close, coming from the crown, the three-forked road that leads to the kingdom circulate.
Shut (fill).
Shut (fill).
Shut (fill).
Shut (fill).
Shut (fill).
Repeat every five times.
Simply, shatter once filled.
Warriors, I summon you forth to achieve my ambition."
A screen popped up.
Do you wish to share a talismans power with them?
Accept Y/N
Something I learned with the rat talismans is I could share the other powers with others including my creations. The power is temporary and vanishes after all the person uses up their allotment.
No. I chose to deny.
The clay began to gain color.
The brothers appeared and bent on one knee.
"We greet you, our master." They said.
"Come. I have a lot to explain to you." I said.
