Knox: So...
King: Yes?
Knox: We haven't see this one... Why are we here?
King: Because I wanted to be. It's like with 40K. I wanted to dip my toe in and see what it's like. I might have to pick up the rest of series later. Now, back to you our viewers. I hope you enjoy the story. This one was a real inspiration sink. I had the idea of this one for a while after someone brought it to my attention, but never had the drive to write it. Yet, here we are. Let's go!
Inspiration: Seven Deadly Sins
/\
As everyone was getting comfortable again,, the next world began without warning.
Everything was black at first. However, there were voices that rang through the theater.
"What are we going to do now?" The first was revealed to be Oscar.
The second was Ruby, "We get the gang back together. It's time for the Seven Deadly Sins to return."
Ruby frowned, "Seven Deadly Sins?"
Knox nodded, listing them off, "Pride, Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, and Sloth. These aspects are known as Deadly Sins or the Cardinal Vices. Said to represent humanity's worst natures and desires."
"In this case," King cut him off before he could read off the encyclopedia definitions, "It's the name of seven exceptional individuals who took on the name and aspect of their sin. In this case, Ruby is the Sin of Wrath."
Knox snickered, "Should have been Yang."
Said blonde didn't take kindly, "Hey! I'm not that bad!"
"A nightclub in Vale begs to differ."
Yang had to pause before sinking in her chair.
"I mean come on! It's the Dragon's Sin. I'd say you're playing the part pretty well."
Glynda was next, "Then may I suggest we make haste? If we are to have a chance moving forward, we need one of our ranks in particular."
Ozpin took a drink from his mug, "So, Glynda is one of these Sins as well. Which is she, I wonder."
Port laughed, "Now that's an interesting question. Which of our worst Vices could we be identified by?"
King nodded, "In this case, the Boar's Sin of Gluttony."
Glynda's face turned a bright red in a mix of righteous anger and pure embarrassment.
Knox chuckled at the face she was making, "Hey, don't worry about it. You're not massive or anything. You get to keep your figure. Gluttony, in this case, represents the desire to take more than you need. More food, more power, more anything."
The scene started to return to the canvas. The forest scene at night played out before them with small mountains dotting the landscape. As this began, the camera moved down to the forest to show Yang running through the woods, carrying both Sun and Blake. All three looked worse for wear and it was clear they were running from something giving chase. Yang's armor had been abandoned and lost to her as she ran in a bright gold, one piece garb with boots, gauntlets, and a small black jacket. Blake was adorned by a simple white dress. Sun wore red leather, mostly because it was what he could find at the time but it grew on him.
Yang took in the scene, a little concerned about herself and her friends being attacked. But she still had to ask, "So, which Sin did I get?"
"You're assuming got a Sin?" Knox smirked.
"Call it a hunch." Yang knew her attitude often got her one of two reputations: the angry, brutal bitch or the walking sex appeal. Granted, her constant teasing of others back home probably didn't help the latter.
"Might want to get it checked. You aren't one of the Sins."
This got Yang to pause. "Huh. Okay then…"
Knox smirked, "He is." Following the man's gaze put attention toward Sun.
Who was more than a little shocked, "I am?!"
"Yep. The Fox's Sin of Greed."
Yang tripped up a moment, but kept herself upright. There were usually caves on the mountains, so she started to scale one of the sides. She needed to find somewhere to escape their pursuers. Somewhere safe. Somewhere… "A bar?" Yang was genuinely taken aback at the appearance of a bar on one of the mountains. Batwing doors and the giant sign were hard to ignore, telling her this place was called [My Sweet Gluttony].
Harriet raised an eyebrow, "What's a bar doing in the middle of nowhere like that?"
The inside of the bar was mainly made of rocks built to create a circular bar area with a wide open area for tables. Behind the bar was an assortment of various bottles and even some within the bar itself between the sections of rocks.
Yang pushed herself and her two passengers inside, "Hey! Is anyone here?!"
The man behind the bar jumped, his back still to them for the moment. He turned around to show this was Jaune Arc, dressed in a green vest and pants with his white shirt and dark bowtie. He looked the part of an old bartender, that was certain. Jaune scrambled, catching a bottle of alcohol that threatened to fall. "W-who are you? What are you doing here? I mean! How can I help you?"
Roman started to laugh, "He needs to grow a spine." He then proceeded to fall back in his chair laughing at how pathetic this version was.
Something that didn't make Jaune feel any better.
Jaune instantly jerked up recognizing Yang's remaining armor, the Royal Knights! Wait… isn't that… "Sun?"
Sun groaned and looked upward, his eyes going wide seeing the man behind the counter, "Jaune?"
Gira tapped his chair in thought, "So they know each other… But how?" He expected either King or Knox to answer, but this time they were tight lipped.
Sun smirked, but couldn't do much in the way of moving, "Talk about great timing. We're being followed by some creeps."
Yang had to put this into perspective, "I think you're downplaying this a little too much! They're two of the Demon King's Ten Commandments!"
This made Jaune shake in fear, "And you brought them here?! In the middle of the night?!"
Sun's smirk was weak, but it remained, "Kind of just happened to us."
"Are the others okay?! Please tell me they're okay! Did something happen to them?!"
Sun chuckled a bit, "Everyone's okay. But we really need that sanctuary or that won't be the case long."
Jaune was practically falling over himself to say something. "Just… Just get in the back cellar!" Jaune rushed them toward the vault behind him before sealing it without a second to spare.
In walked, or stormed rather, was a duo of strange figures. The first was a massive man akin to an armored creature. His exoskeleton/armor was an off purple and covered in small pieces of armor on his shoulder, an orb on his chest, and a pair of horns on either side of his head that curved upward. The other was a shorter humanoid, obviously Cinder, dressed in a sleeveless leotard with dark stockings that reached up to her thigh. A darkness surrounded her and allowed her to float while her companion walked across the ground.
This got Cinder to raise her eyebrow. If she had to guess, her associate would be someone she knew. Question is, who would it be?
The man pointed toward Jaune, "You there!" Revealing himself as Tyrian.
Cinder sighed, Of course it is.
Jaune felt a chill run up his spine. He slowly turned back toward the man, "Y-y-yes? How c-can I help you?"
Tyrian walked up, his armor set like a fang-covered grin, because it was his grin. This was Tyrian's body. "Answer honestly." He held his tongue a moment to get Jaune to nod in affirmation. "Three people we were chasing came through this way, right? And before you answer, know that you speak to Tyrian, the Truth of the Ten Commandments."
Jaune's shaking wasn't getting better, "I-I see. I'm afraid that I can't…" Jaune's body started to shake, as if to warn him not to continue.
"I warned you. I told you to be honest. You gave your word, albeit I doubt you knew that nodding would mean that. Regardless, you gave your word, and anyone who goes back on their word will be turned to stone. That is the power of Truth!"
Nora laughed, "Then our Fearless Leader would be fine! He never goes back on his word!"
Neptune tapped his foot on the ground. "Our version maybe. Other than that, what if the vows conflict? What then?"
Jaune didn't have an answer. He'd never let that happen before, for good reason. An Arc never goes back on his word, after all.
Jaune shook, hoping to find a deflection of some kind. He promised to be honest… "I'm afraid the vault is locked." Hinting he couldn't open it. "I'm a bartender and I don't have the strength to get caught up with demons and magic." Also true.
Tyrian scoffed, finally looking around. "Smart deflection, but I know they're in there. Not like they're going very far any time soon. Hey Cinder! Why don't we enjoy a drink?"
Cinder grinned, "It has been a while." Her darkness moved forward and grasped a bottle, pulling it toward her. "Which is this, then?"
Jaune, now again in his element, answered, "That is a Mist-Veil wine. An excellent addition for a night of celebration."
Cinder pulled up another bottle, turning to him expecting an answer.
"Valen White Rum. Hard to come by these days, but well worth the price."
Qrow let out an impressed whistle. "That's a pretty handy talent. Would definitely make my trips to bars better if I could tell what's good and what's not just by looking at it."
Cinder was also impressed in a way, opening the bottle and taking a sip. "I admit, you were correct. You must know a great deal about alcohol."
"I am a bartender."
Tyrian broke open one of the bottles and started to down the entire thing. "That's the good stuff!"
"Caster Sake. High in alcohol content, but flavored to hide it well. Most people only ever have as much as a small shot glass as it is said to coat one's tongue for the rest of the night."
Tyrian had a slight pink tint on his face as he finished the last of the bottle. He laughed jovially as the alcohol was taking effect on his mind. "Now that's more like it! We didn't have booze like this 3,000 years ago! You humans can improve over time after all!"
"Three thousand?!" Ruby nearly choked on air.
Cinder smirked. Not a bad look for over three thousand.
Tyrian laughed again. "Hey bartender!"
Jauen jumped, shocked.
"How about we play a little game, you and I. The two of us trade blows until one of us is dead! Sound good?"
Jaune was a weak man. Often called vassalating and submissive. He also knew that if he didn't play along, they would get to Sun and the others to kill them. "S-sure…"
Elm sighed, "Welp, he's dead."
Vine nodded in agreement.
Marrow tried to see a bright side, though, "We don't know that. Maybe he's got something up his sleeve."
Harriet kicked up her feet, "Doubt it. Look at him. He's barely a man with a build like that. Hell, I could probably beat him in an arm wrestle." Harriet was fast, but brute strength was her lacking trait.
Tyrian let out another laugh, "That's the spirit!" He slammed his hand against Jaune's back and sent the smaller man flying to the side of the bar and knocking him out instantly.
Harriet snickered, "Told you."
Marrow growled a bit, "He's still alive…"
Everything was quiet until Tyrian burst out laughing again. The scene moved outside to show the passage of time. The moon began to sink and the light of dawn threatened to rise over the horizon. Soon, the sun rose over the mountains and trees as daylight washed over the scene. Back inside, Cinder was using her dark power to float atop a barrel of beer as she took another drink. Tyrian was reduced to a giggling mess leaning over the counter. They'd spent the night just drinking.
Qrow smirked as he sat back, "That's one hell of a night. Dangerous, though, cause you might wake up somewhere you never wanted to."
Cinder was about to take another drink before a reflection forced her to shield her eyes. "What on…" She looked up toward the back wall, finally noticing a massive ax resting inside a carved out section of stone.
The ax was a beautiful, shimming gold. It's handle was thin with a spiked guard at the handle. The blade itself was massive and ornamental, resembling a crescent moon being set by golden protrusions back to the main handle. Two more spearhead-like spikes jutted out from the top and back of the ax head.
Many thought it was a beautiful design. Save for one.
"What the heck is that?!" Ruby cried, "It looks all wrong! The size of the blade is too large for the length of the handle! The distribution of weight is all off! How could anyone use that?!"
"Says the girl wielding a giant scythe." Blake reminded her.
"No! I deliberately built Crescent Rose to be a good proportion for its design! I'm just short and need to use the rifle for the recoil effect!"
Oscar didn't want to say anything, but he did. "But… A scythe isn't a weapon."
Ruby turned to him, a slight glare on her face.
"I-it's just! It's a farming tool. I've used one a bunch back at home. It's not exactly designed for combat."
Ruby tried to find solace among her fellow scythe wielders. But Qrow mostly used his weapon as a sword or shotgun. Meanwhile, Maria had more of a dual sickal set up instead of a standard scythe. She was alone and grumbled in her chair, "Still…"
Tyrian looked up toward it and whistled. "Would you look at that~" He stood up and reached to grab the ax. "Such beautiful ornaments and craftsmanship." His praise ended as he tried to pick up the weapon only for it to fall to the ground. "What the hell?!" The blade embedded in the ground as Tyrian tried to hold the ax as one would expect to wield a two handed ax. "What's with this thing?! The weight is all wrong and the handle is too short for a two handed stance! Whoever designed it was a moron!"
Ruby cried out with her hands flying up in exasperation, "Thank you!"
"Because it isn't a two handed ax." A new voice appeared, deep and imposing. The ax suddenly disappeared from Tyrian's grasp.
This got the viewers to jump.
The scene moved to show a giant man in a white shirt and green vest and pants. The fabric of his sleeves and collar were stretching against his skin and starting to snap as though he were growing ever larger. "This is a divine gift. The glorious single hand ax, Rhitta. Named for the maiden so loved by the sun. It's holy power is far too unwieldy for lowly demons like you."
Cinder laughed, "What's with this guy? You sound so proud~" She was a demon, after all. There was nothing for another race to be proud of in their presence.
Tyrian's head tilted, his face still set in a drunken grin. However, he still had the faculties to notice the similarities between this giant of a man and the bartender from before. He also noticed the rubble pile to the side had dispersed. "Now that's strange. Are you truly the same scrawny man from before?"
This got people really paying attention again. That couldn't have been Jaune, could it? There were demons with weird armor bodies like Tyrian, so maybe he was a magical creature. That made sense. Right?
Jaune stood with ax in hand as his clothing began to tear. His pants were spared, deliberately larger than his frame, unlike his shirt and vest, to avoid such situations. The bowtie finally popped and flew off and away as his muscles continued to grow.
Cinder giggled, still very drunk as well, "Are you perhaps some magical creature? A fairy like the black haired one? Maybe a giant?"
Jaune hoisted the ax over to rest on his right shoulder. "I can assure you that I am indeed human. However," the camera moved to show the rising sun as his hand took a position before it with a single finger raised, "I am also one who stands above all other beings in his world." The camera returned to Jaune as he stood before the two, "I am the strongest of the Seven Deadly Sins. The Lion's Sin of Pride, Lord Jaune Arc." The camera met Jaune's back to reveal a lion-shaped brand at the center of his back.
Yang couldn't help but laugh. "Really lives up to that Pride huh?"
Harriet was about to fall over in shock, thankfully catching herself before she could. This guy… What the hell happened?
Cinder giggled again, "So, you're one of the Seven Deadly Sins as well, huh?"
Tyrian laughed, swaying back a moment before leaning forward to point to Jaune, "You are 'the one who stands above all other beings?' You're little more than a human made of pride and arrogance!" He then leaned back again as he laughed.
Jaune started to laugh in kind, as though the two were enjoying a joke told between them. Only for Jaune to suddenly swing Rhitta down and tearing through the demon's torso like butter, sending Tyrian's chest flying back and arms to fall away. As the rest of the body collapsed, Jaune spoke calmly, "That is the Sin of Pride."
Everyone felt something akin to terrorfied shock. He just chopped through someone that could apparently beat Yang, Sun, and Blake!
Cinder had a similar reaction, shocked sober. Actually shocked sober. It was as if the night-long binge of alcohol hadn't happened. "What the hell just happened? Tyrian the Truth was knocked down in a single hit… A human like this didn't exist 3,000 years ago."
Jaune just brought his ax back up to his shoulder.
"I admit that was impressive, but get too high on yourself. If you believe we demons are so easy to kill, you are sorely mistaken."
Dark magic swirled about from the sliced sections of Tyrian's body, reconnecting and lifting his pieces up and together again, "We demons, the pinnacle of all beings, shall never fall to such weak attacks!"
Jaune nodded once, "I should hope not. Or this game of ours would hardly be entertaining."
Penny thought back for a moment, "Oh! I remember now. They're 'game' to trade attacks until one of them is dead."
Yang growled, "It's hardly fair when you can regenerate like that."
Raven rolled her eyes, "If it works, it works. By that logic, you should never use your semblance in battle because your opponent doesn't get the same boost you do. Take every advantage you can get, Yang."
Yang growled. She wanted to call out her mother, but already promised herself Raven wasn't worth it.
Cinder laughed, "You say that like you didn't kill Tyrian on purpose. How arrogant can you be?"
Jaune shook his head, "I do not speak in arrogance. I speak only the truth. Now, I believe it is your turn Tyrian the Truth."
Tyrian would grind his teeth if his face wasn't basically armor plated with interlacing fangs. "Even if your word is true! You are just a human! And so, you will regret not having sent me to the grave with your first attack!" The scene around them began to shake, as though Tyrian's anger and power shook the very earth beneath them. "Cinder, stand back!" Tyrian's body began to glow, "CRITICAL OVER!" His armored body began to expand, growing spikes about his body as he nearly doubled in size. This ability pushed his physical power to its absolute max.
[Combat Power - 40,000]
Mercury glanced toward Knox, "I'm guessing that's a lot."
"Considering Ruby, the leader of the Seven Sins, has a rating of 32,000, yes. Yes it is."
Tyrian growled as his body hissed from the air heated around him, his power affecting the area. "I was hoping to save this for my rematch with that bitch Ruby! But every fiber of my being is telling me to kill you here and now! I apologize, because I won't be able to hold back! DIE!" Tyrian raised his spear to the side before swinging down to Jaune's left side.
The impact shook the mountain and cleaved the stone clean from the rest. Wind kicked up what small rocks remained as the force pushed ever onward. The camera snapped away to two mountains in the distance, both having their upper sections sliced off from the attack.
This made everyone stare in awe and worry. That was a powerful attack, more powerful than anything they'd ever seen. Even to Blake. She'd seen Adam decemate a section of forest, but he had done so by being charged by an Atlas Spider Droid's laser cannon. And even then it wasn't that powerful. The area was smaller and contained, as his semblance wasn't conducive to longer ranges. This was on another level altogether.
Cinder was smirking, only for it to turn to concern, then shock.
Tyrian had a similar face.
Jaune… just seemed bored. "Is that truly the extent of your ability?"
The camera backed away to reveal Tyrian's spear had barely broken Jaune's skin on his arm!
And that just made people go cold.
Cinder swung to the side, "Tyrian! We need to leave! NOW!"
Tyrian growled, knowing he couldn't do that. "Tyrian the Truth never goes back on his word! We will continue until one of us is dead!"
Elm tapped her cheek before bringing a fist down on her open palm, "Oh right! They'll turn to stone if they go back on their word."
"So it works on him too?" Clover considered. It wouldn't be the first time, really. Some semblances were similar in that they affected everyone in an area. Some Grimm could do so too. It wasn't unheard of, though this was a little more extreme.
"Then I believe it is my turn, correct?" Jaune slowly raised Rhitta to the sky, the camera showing it covering the sun. Suddenly, the star seemed to burst and be overtaken by itself. The scene showed a Jaune more akin to a god, a massive man before a tiny demon. Imposing on near a divine scale, as though an ant were looking up to fight the sun itself.
A dark suddenly took over the screen and everything returned to normal.
Jaune stood up straight again, his stance for combat no longer necessary. "A shame. I had hoped to show him my power when I get a bit serious."
The camera moved to show Tyrian, frozen in stone, attempting to run from the golden lion.
"Holy…" Qrow was having difficulty finding words for that.
Jaune sighed. "Though I suppose it is understandable when one chooses to face me. It seems even the master of the law cannot avoid its punishment. Even the ancient demons are allowed to fear death." Jaune turned his eyes toward Cinder, "Now, I will give you the opportunity to decide your fate. Run away or die. Make your decision while I still remain merciful."
Cinder turned back to him, her face soon twisting into a smile far too wide for a human face. "I suppose I should thank you in a way. We often had our disagreements, and now I'm free to face you as I wish without his foolish Truth getting in my way. I shall grant you a swift death as thanks."
Port laughed, "How much would you like to bet that she fairs the same as her associate?"
Bart let out a chuckle of his own, "I doubt anyone would take that bet, Peter."
"Jaune!" Sun, realizing the situation, tried to warn him, "Brute force won't work on her! Get out of there!"
"Hmm?" Jaune turned for a moment before being enveloped by the strange dark magic. "I see. So this is the path you've chosen…" Jaune suddenly went stiff and a strange ethereal orb floated out from his mouth.
Cinder was revealed to have her hand placed on his back. In her Cocoon of Darkness, none can escape. And her power over the souls of others allows her to remove them from their bodies. "Your arrogance has finally caught up to you, it seems." She severed the soul from the body, opening her mouth as a far too long tongue wrapped around the soul of Jaune Arc and allowed her to devour it.
Pyrrha wretched a bit, but was able to keep her composure.
Velvet was not so lucky, doubled over to hold it back.
Neptune winced, "That's just nasty."
Of course the unspoken truth was that she ate his soul…
Cinder let out a satisfied sigh. "How excellent. With a hint of spice, no less. Regardless, you had no chance of truly defeating the Ten Commandments." Her breath was accompanied by smoke. She turned a moment, but soon doubled over as she clutched her stomach. "What's going on?" Her lips and stomach felt like they were on fire, seared skin forming as she writhed. "What is this? Fire?!" As if to answer her, her body burst into an inferno, only for the power to escape from her lips and shatter the Cocoon of Darkness.
"What's going on?" Penny asked.
Ironwood couldn't help but smirk, "She bit off more than she could chew."
Cinder fell to the ground, writhing in pain and her body burning. "What is this?! WHAT IS THIS POWER?!"
Jaune was shown to be standing nearby, ax held casually on his shoulder, "Sunshine. This is my glorious magic like no other in this world. Behold its magnificence, rejoice in its warmth," Jaune turned back to her, looking over his shoulder, "And curse your horrid luck for being born into my world."
Cinder screamed as her body was immolating. She stepped away, falling down the mountain and striking an outcropping. Her body seemed to split in two as both sides continued to burn.
Marrow felt a certain smug pride of his own, having had a feeling that this version of Arc had something up his sleeves.
Jaune turned back toward Sun, along with the still unconscious Blake and the barely conscious Yang. The massive man moved his ax from his shoulder and down to his side, "Wukong," he refused to call such a weak man Sun, the name of the source of his glorious power, "I still have business with you. However, noon approaches. We will speak again when night falls. Until then, remain here. That is an order."
Sun just chuckled and waved the concern away as best he could, "Not like I can move much anyway."
Aune nodded before leaning down and taking off into the sky, leaping toward the sun and into the forest. The camera moved upward to show the sun, only for the symbol of the lion to appear on its face. As the sun beams down upon this world, he is the mightiest man to live. He is as close as these mortal men come to being gods. But as it sinks, he loses this power and confidence. His Pride is lost and so is his form. He becomes a weak man, so very different from his other form. This is Jaune Arc's great power. This is the power of the Lion's Sin of Pride.
On that note, the world ended, leaving everyone stunned.
"Holy shit." Roman took his hat off as though to give his mind room to comprehend that.
Nora was geeking out at how 'awesome' the alternate Jaune was. Going from a scrawny guy to a giant was pretty cool to her. Not to mention the ax, which he wielded like a master without issue.
Ruby was still not so impressed by the weapon, but was impressed by the speed and power he put behind it.
Jaune was just wondering if he could be so powerful and confident. Maybe not quite so prideful, but at least having a pride of who he is. It would take some mental work, but he thinks that maybe, just maybe, he could.
