King: We're back baby! Back in the theater.
Knox: It's good to be back.
King: So, while I was writing this out over these days, I found a story called "Deck of Heroes" by Jauneforever through reaction stories by Duskrider and LordHellPhoenix. As such, I admit I kind of want to run with the idea of an Install style story. I got to play with that a little with the story by Alex-Keller, but I'd like to dip a toe into the idea for myself. But I'm still iffy on the cast.
Knox: So, what's the plan then?
King: Here's the plan. The next chapter will be the Install-style Fate chapter. Think of these two like a Fate kick for me. But, you guys will get to help me. It's time. Pull the lever Knox!
Knox: Lever?
King: Oh for... Look, we made a twitter a while back to enter a contest and haven't done anything with it. So, it is now our official Twitter. You can find us at KingNKnox1 on Twitter. You can also use the hashtag ArcsoftheMultiverse (exactly as written here) to find us and the poll we're putting out. Your choices are:
Cards I have in game: I can only use Servants I have in Fate Grand Order, which is basically asking me to pick a favorite child
Low Rarity only: I can only pick Servants of a silver or bronze border, which is easier to pick but not as flashy
King: This is your mission if you choose to accept it. Good luck out there. You have 3 days to vote starting from the moment this is published. As always, I hope you enjoy.
Inspiration: Fate Series
Note: I had to change the Hashtag to avoid clutter in searches. Sorry about any confusion.

Off in the theater beyond space and time, King stood with a tablet as he ran his finger over the screen. "Salem is aware of our presence."
"Then what should we do?" Knox asked, closing a gold-colored laptop.
"It would be in our interest to keep a better eye on her." A ping on his tablet got his attention. "And it seems like our alternate Mama Arc won't be returning."
"So…?"
"We expanded for a reason, Knox."
"Are you serious? You want to bring her here? Why?"
"What better place to deal with her? Besides," he dropped the tablet, causing it to disappear once it left his hand, "I feel it might be entertaining."
"Alright. I'll put in an order~" Knox smirked and waved his hand to create a magic circle. "Three… Two… One…"
The seats were suddenly glowing before the various members of the audience returned to their places.
"The eagle has landed~"
King nodded, "You're improving."
Yang stretched into her chair, "It's good to be back~"
King used a loud clap to get everyone's attention. "So, first things first. Welcome back. Second order of business, our alternate Salem will no longer be joining us. She wanted to spend more time with her family, which I certainly understand since she also felt she didn't really fit in here." After a pause, he continued. "So… we're going to do something special~"
With a snap of Knox's fingers, a series of bubbles appeared and floated toward King. One by one, he popped all but one to reveal Watts, Hazel, and Tyrian (in that order). "Welcome back gentlemen."
Everyone with pure intentions was on their feet in shock and were certainly hoping to not see them again.
Tyrian snickered and got up from the floor in a very Tyrian way. "Ooh~! I love what you've done with the place. So much more room for slaughter!" He looked around and spied the last remaining bubble. "Is that the vessel of my goddess?!"
"It is Salem's… invitation. Not then," with a wave of his hand, Salem, the true immortal witch of Remnant, was before them.
Salem looked around, a light glare to Ozpin, then up toward King. Her glare sharpened severely. "So, you're this 'god' I've heard about." There was venom in that word.
"I am." King didn't even bother arguing things on that point. "Now, allow me to explain."
-One Explanation Later-
Salem crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "And I should remain… why?"
"Nothing's stopping you," Knox explained.
But King picked up after, "But you know that you can't resist it. You hate the idea of godly beings. You hate the idea of myself and Knox. So, will you leave and risk it?"
Salem grit her teeth. She hated gods after what she went through, and this one was pushing all her buttons. But he wasn't wrong. She moved away to the side and took a seat in a fairly regal manner.
King smirked and nodded. "Now then, let's begin."
Harriet leaned toward General Ironwood, "Is there a reason we aren't dealing with any of them?!" She was seething at this.
Ironwood sighed, "We can't do anything anyway. This place shuts down any attempts to attack one another. But, that also means they can't do anything to us either. Just be careful what you say around them."
The screen opened for the first time in quite a while.
"What do you think it'll be?" Ruby asked the room.
Blake tapped her chair and side-eyed Salem, "Knowing those two, something to mess with the new… guests."
Yang leaned back, placing her hands behind her head. "Sounds about right."
The screen opened to a loud boom of thunder. It was raining. A heavy blanket of water falling from the sky to coat everything in its being. Another boom was accompanied by a scream of anger. The camera moved to show Nora as she swung her hammer down to an off screen opponent.
"It's me again!" Nora cheered. "Break some bad guy legs!"
The camera backed away to show a man in a long black trench coat holding an old paper umbrella. He backed away from the attack, umbrella keeping place over his head. His eyes were a bright pink and showed the bemusement of a man clearly not taking this seriously.
This got Tyrian to chuckle a little. "Yes~ Play with your prey before ending her life!"
Nora turned, wanting to put this jerk in place by decking him in the jaw, but she got tired from the overt hostility attempt.
The man laughed and swung his umbrella back together before using it like a club and knocking Nora to the soaked ground. As she tried to pick herself off the ground, the rain caused her clothing to cling to her side. Small spots of red formed along her body. Another bolt of lightning revealed small cuts along her arms, legs, and neck. They were shallow enough to not directly be life threatening, but they were clearly building up.
Tyrian was bouncing in his chair. "OOH! Death by a thousand cuts! Truly a tortuous way to end a life~!"
Oobleck was tapping his chair in thought. "I believe I've read something about this. Someone in the past that used similar tactics."
Nora's breathing was heavy and her eyes were glassing over. "Damn it…" She swung her hammer up and brought it to the ground, a bolt of lightning covering her as she disappeared.
Nora gasped, "Oh my gosh! That was so cool!"
The man was about to pursue, only to be stopped by a voice behind him. "Don't bother." A new figure walked up from the shadows, revealing another man with an umbrella, though a more conventional one. One thing of note was a red symbol on the back of his hand. "Her Master is dead. She'll fade out soon enough."
Watts raised an eyebrow, "Master?"
Nora then gasped again, even louder than before. "Wait! Does this mean I'm one of those legendary heroes for that Grail thing?!"
"But it also sounds like you lost…" Blake pointed out.
Nora then remembered that point and realized the cat faunas was right. "Dang it…" She fell back and slumped in her chair. She was comforted by Jaune though. So she counted that as a win in a way.
The Master laughed to himself. "Besides, we have more pressing matters. Come on, Assassin."
Assassin smirked and unfurled his umbrella and held it up to follow his Master. "Lead the way."
Off in the distance, the group could see Beacon Academy. Another bolt lit up the sky nearby. The camera snapped closer to show Nora as she fell to her knee, propping her weight on her hammer. "Crap…" She let out a sigh and had a pained smile on her face. "I'm sorry Master… I failed to protect you…" Her grip failed her and she fell to her side. "I couldn't even avenge you… Some hero, huh?"
As her sight was failing her, a bolt of lightning revealed the face of Jaune Arc above her before her eyes closed.
"Wait, what's going to happen?" Weiss blinked in confusion. "Aren't they supposed to try to kill each other? For the Grail?"
Tyrian's murder sense was tingling once that was said. "Oh?! Do we have something like that?"
Salem shook her head. "Tyrian, please…"
"Of course, my goddess."
The world faded back to form to show Velvet as her classes ended for the day. With her gear under her arm, she made her way out of the building to Beacon's courtyard. Jaune had told her to meet in a tent he'd hidden away in the back of the garden area. It was secluded and most people tended to avoid the area in favor of the more necessary locations on campus, or going off campus altogether.
She arrived to find the usual white tent with a squared, red cross. It was one of Jaune's Noble Phantasms.
"Wait, Noble Phantasm? Like that Darius guy's explosion? That thing?" Harriet asked.
King nodded. "Indeed. A Noble Phantasm can take many forms. They are usually items or traits that the Servant was known for. As an example, if one were to summon, say… Julius Arc as a Servant, he would be a Saber Class and his Noble Phantasm would be his legendary blade, Crocea Mors. That's the idea, anyway."
Jaune couldn't help but look away from everything for a moment. That sword has been through so much. Sometimes it's hard to think about that when everyone else's weapons could change form and do so many crazy things. Meanwhile, the simplest weapon of them all had so much history. And he can't help but feel unworthy of it all at times.
"Wait a second." Weiss spoke up. "I thought Jaune's Phantasm is the Nightingales."
King nodded. "Quite. A Heroic Spirit can have as many Noble Phantasms as they have legends to their name."
The tent was called Moble Hospital Asclepius. It was his most famous hospital tent where he was said to have saved a hundred lives. As Velvet entered, she looked around. Only to have her eyes stall at the scene.
Jaune was walking around a medical table with a clipboard in hand. Lying on the table was a strange orange-haired girl currently held down using leather straps. A pair of Nightingales stood nearby. Velvet could tell they were both the combat nurses thanks to their uniform variation, having gun holsters on their hips.
Salem was taken aback. "What the hell are those?"
"Nightingales." King explained, but said nothing else.
Velvet looked between Jaune and the girl. "Jaune. Why is there an unconcious girl on the table?"
Jaune didn't miss a beat though. "Are there more appropriate locations for a patient?"
This got Yang to chuckle a little. "I mean… He kind of has a point."
Velvet nodded slowly. "Okay. And why is she tied down?"
"Because she woke up earlier and tried to bash my head into the instrument cart."
Elm laughed, "Good reason."
"And the Nightingales?"
"I answered that already. Next question."
"Who is she?"
"I don't know her identity. I can, however, confirm a magical reaction. And given the readings I was able to get, I believe she is another Servant."
"Are you serious?!"
"I am. Question is, who is she and what class? That I don't know yet."
"Okay, there's that bit again." Tai turned to the two owners of the theater. "What's this Class thing?"
King stood before everyone, a small set of golden cards appearing in his outstretched hand. "Heroic Spirits appear in a selection of classes based on their abilities and legends. There are seven main classes." One by one, they floated off his hand as he listed them off. "Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker."
A lot of the room seized up seeing the Archer card and remembered the world where Jaune 'installed' the card and gained those magic portals that shot swords.
And Knox had to throw a wrench into the simplicity of the explanation to that point. "That said, there are five extra classes. Shielder, Ruler, Avenger, Foreigner, and Alter Ego. But these five are rarer and aren't usually seen in a standard Grail War."
King sighed. "Yes… That is true. But like he said, they aren't common for Grai Wars. As such, I hadn't planned to mention them." King shot a glare at his creation, only for Knox to playfully stick out his tongue.
Nora started to stir on the bed, unseen by the two conversing. As a Servant, she tensed and broke the leather apart easily.
"Besides," Jaune continued, looking back to his clipboard, "If she did escape, the Nightingales can keep her from getting violent."
Nora stopped just short of knocking Jaune down with an IV stand. "The what?" She was immediately set upon and tackled by the Nightingales.
This got a chunk of the room to chuckle.
As both Nightingales held either of Nora's arms, she tried to struggle against them. "I'm not going down without a fight! You hear me?!"
Jaune just turned to her for a moment, "Oh! You're awake."
"He seems rather unaffected by her attempting to attack him." Penny commented.
"He's probably used to it." Ironwood explained. "His story suggested that he worked to heal battlefield combatants. Humans don't usually take well to waking up in unknown locations, much less if they were in battle moments before losing consciousness."
Jaune walked over with his clipboard in hand. "Now then, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a few questions. First off, what's your name?"
Nora practically spat, but held off when one of the Nightingales noticed her intent and clutched down on her wrist a bit more to remind her where she was. "Rider Class Servant. That's all you get."
Nora's head tilted, "Rider, huh? What's that mean?"
King held up the Rider card. "It means you were known alongside some form of transportation method. Be it a horse, sled, chariot, boat, motorcycle, or any other form. The idea is you rode atop something."
"Okay. So that explains that." Pyrrha tapped her cheek in thought, silently wondering what class she would be (as were most of the room).
"Rider huh?" Jaune looked back to his clipboard. "A rider who appeared in a thunderstorm… Then you must be Nora Valkyrie."
Nora perked up. "How did he know that?"
King chuckled, knowing Nora was about to have a field day with the explanation.
Nora jumped a bit. "How did you…?!"
Jaune rolled his eyes. "I saw you touch down. Nora Valkyrie is said to have rode across the battlefield on a bolt of lightning. Granted, I immagine in history it was just a horse, but you know how Servants work. Turning legend into reality. As such, I believe a Rider Servant that can literally ride the lightning must be Nora Valkyrie."
There was silence at first before a sudden scream of "THAT'S SO COOL!" Rang out from Nora as the origin point.
Jaune, Pyrrha, and Velvet (who were all the closest) needed a moment to get the ringing in their ears to fade.
Nora blinked in surprise before her will to fight faded out. She slumped down slightly as she let out a groan. She seemed to fade in and out slightly.
"What's happening to me?!" Nora shouted. She found out about this cool power and she wanted to see it in action, damnit!
Jaune looked down toward her and back to his clipboard as he wrote something and spoke. "You lost your Master. If I had to guess, you have maybe an hour left before you fade out."
"No!" Nora cried out. "Let me see how cool I am in this one!" She felt a little better when Jaune comforted her, but still!
Nora grit her teeth. "That's plenty. I just need to find that bastard…"
"Uh huh." Jaune didn't sound convinced. "And what do you think you can do in your condition? You're basically ready to keel over at the slightest provocation. You're Noble Phantasm faded out last night. What do you think you'll achieve without it when you couldn't beat them with it?"
It was harsh, but it was true. Nora knew that. She deflated a little. It was like getting talked down by a doctor for her life choices.
"I mean… she kind of is, though." Sun couldn't help but laugh a little.
But Nora still had a defiant flame in her eye.
Jaune looked back for a moment before returning his attention to his clipboard. "You're so set on avenging your master, I take it."
"You know my story. I failed to protect the Prince of Nordheim."
"And then you went off on a crusade to take down the faction responsible. The only reason you're not a Beserker is because you were ordered to by the King in order to retain some sense of honor. Plus they were bandits anyway. Not that you minded one way or the other. If I recall, the Prince was your half brother, correct?"
Nora nodded somberly. "From my mother…"
This got to Ruby and Yang in particular. Neither could imagine what would happen if they lost the other. What they'd do.
Jaune nodded again. "It's in your nature to desire to right this wrong. But you need to realize when you're outgunned."
"I'm not outgunned yet! That jerk Assassin and his stupid umbrella are weak enough that I an beat him if I can just get the jump on him!"
"You realize you're not an assassin, right? You're not built for…" Jaune stopped mid-sentence, and seemed to stop writing mid-sentence for good measure. "Come again?"
This caught Velvet's attention.
And the attention of the watchers.
Nora blinked, a little surprised by the shift. "Um… Assassin with an umbrella…?"
Jaune's eyes narrowed slightly. "Elaborate. Describe him."
"Um… A little taller than me. Long coat. Pink eyes. Short black hair. Paper umbrella that somehow blocked every attack I tried!" She got a little angry about that last bit.
There was a silence at first before Watts's sense of reason finally required answers. "What? How does a wooden umbrella block a warhammer?"
"Uh… because it was known to block something." Tyrian said that like it was the most obvious thing. "Duh."
Hazel, who'd finally gotten over his situation, picked up from there. "It was explained that the Spirits effectively have extra magical abilities based on their legend. So, if this umbrella was famous for having blocked a weapon, it would seem stronger."
Watts huffed, annoyed to have overlooked the obvious explanation.
But Ironwood and Winter shared a glance. This sounded familiar.
Jaune handed his clipboard to a third Nightingale that formed beside him. He turned to Velvet, a serious look on his face. "Master, I would like to pursue this Assassin."
Velvet blinked at the change in Jaune's tone. "Um… Okay?"
Nora growled and tried to move forward, but the Nightingales held her down. "Hell no! He's mine! I'm not going to just sit here and let you ignore my right to avenge my master!"
Jaune sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. Then, he paused. A smirk forming on his face before he turned back to her. "As a doctor, I can't allow you to go after him in your current state. You need to heal your wounds and have a constant source of mana before I ever allow that."
"What's mana?" Nora's head tilted in confusion.
King sighed, knowing this was coming. "It's like this. Mana is a representation of the spirit similar to your aura. Think about it like the relationship between body and mind. Both affect one another, but can still be independent of one another. In this case in particular, Mana acts as the power source for Hero Spirits. The Master supplies Mana and the Spirit uses that Mana to fight. Mana can also be used to activate and utilize spells, however the magic abilities of Masters on Remnant are… lacking."
"But her Master is dead." Winter's words were blunt, but true. "So how is she supposed to get more mana?"
King didn't say a word about that, however. Just bringing a finger up to his lips to indicate he was going to be silent on that subject.
Nora was just getting angrier. "And how am I supposed to do that, huh?!" She paused at the sudden movement of Jaune's hand being held toward her. "Um… what are you-?"
"You need healing. And I'm going to need help to face this assassin. So, the obvious answer is to combine the two solutions into a mutually beneficial end."
"What? But how can-?"
"As long as you have some strength and as long as there's a Master with Command Seals, you can be 'adopted' and continue your fight."
"That's a thing?!" Nora was getting excited to get to see her 'cool magic moves' after all.
Ozpin's eyes narrowed. "Isn't this their first War? How is he aware of that?"
This, however, King explained. "The Grail told him."
"How does a cup tell anyone anything?" Tyrian asked.
Salem raised an eyebrow before her stance tensed. "Magic."
King smirked and clapped once. "Got it in one."
Nora looked between him and Velvet. "Seriously? Look, no offence, but I'm not Mana-efficient. Your Master can't supply enough mana for me to fight effectively."
"Excuse me." Velvet speaks up after a while of silence. "But you keep talking about transferring 'mana.' How do you do that, exactly?"
Nora blinked, stunned by what she heard before looking up around the tent. "What? But you're… This is all… These Night-things…"
Jaune sighed. "I knew this would come up eventually." He brought his hand up before removing his glove and rolling up his sleeve. This was where eyes went wide. On the back of his hand was a red, open arrow acting as a sort of head. Down his arm, more arrows wrapped around his arm like a snake.
Port looked at the design and thought back to someone he knew. "Huh… It kind of reminds me of Alexander's Ink Vine weapon." He referenced Beacon's botany professor and how he used a type of flat vine that could be used like chains. The specific reference is to how he'd wear the vines like tattoos on his arms.
Nora's fighting gave out and Nightingales let go. "Those are…"
"Command Seals." Jaune confirmed. "If a Servant had sufficient ability while they were alive, they can cheat the system and become a Master to another Servant."
"But why do you have so many?! Any Master is only supposed to have three! So why… do… you…" Her speech slowly over time and she looked up to him. "What are you?"
The scene showed Jaune as the background faded into gold. A card moved out from behind him to reveal a goddess-like figure with a staff in one hand and a hand scale in the other. The card of the Ruler Class.
"I thought they weren't important." Harriet turned to King with an annoyed glare.
King shrugged.
"Okay," Jaune said, "but what's a Ruler here?"
"The Ruler's job is to ensure that the War goes smoothly. They often don't get involved unless something goes wrong."
"Then why is he part of this War?" Coco asked. "Did something happen?"
"Not yet. Think of it like this. You have a new product or service. You don't know if it'll work effectively or not. Wouldn't you send someone to keep an eye on it before rolling it out properly?"
Ironwood's eyes went wide. "This is a trial run?"
King snapped his fingers and pointed to the general. "On the nose, General. But probably not the way you're thinking. The Grail is testing Remnant. To see if it's worth having a second war."
"Velvet is my Master and she likely couldn't handle a second Servant. But if you act under my order, you'll have your second chance. What is your choice?"
Nora was stunned, as was Velvet, but she steeled herself soon after. She stood up and took his hand. Jaune's seals started to glow as their contract was formed.
Jaune smiled and shook her hand. "Welcome to the team." When they let go,, he clapped twice. "Alright Nightingales! Get her in uniform. Master, come with me. We need to talk." With that, he took Velvet's shoulder and led her out of the tent.
This left Nora alone as she blinked. "Uniform?"
Behind her, the four Nightingales loomed over.
The scene got a few of the group to snicker a little.
Coco sat back and hummed to herself. "So, what kind of uniform? I know that it'll probably be a nurses uniform, but what style? Hospital compliant or is the Doctor a little more kinky~?" It was clear to everyone that she was doing this on purpose.
A mental image, however, that started to cause Jaune to overheat.
The camera tracked outside to show Jaune and Velvet having moved nearby. Jaune folded his arms. "Sorry about not telling you about my class before. A Servant's name is usually the more powerful effect, but I kind of did things in reverse. So,, let me try this again. Ruler Class Servant, Jaune Arc. I'm happy to meet you." Jaune held his hand out to Velvet.
After a week with Jaune, it was clear he was a good person. But all this did confuse Velvet. "Why did you hide your class?"
"It's just that… the Grail sent me off to keep an eye on things. But then when the Berserker started to attack the middle of a busy street, I had to step in. Then, when you tried to stop him, I admit I admired you for that. So… I bent the rules a little and became your Servant. I knew that even if we won the Grail, you'd no doubt have a good wish. It was that rule bending that made me hesitant to reveal my class."
Yang snickered, "Sounds familiar." Poking fun at Jaune's false transcripts, since Jaune had proved he belonged at Beacon.
Velvet couldn't help but smile. "Okay. I'll be happy to work with you."
Jaune nodded with a smile. "Now then, Nora should be here in 3. 2. 1." He pointed to the tent area.
Nora stamped out from the tent in a combat medic uniform. It matched the basic style of the Nightingales, however her gear was missing for the moment. "Why am I wearing a nurse''s uniform?!"
Coco raised an eyebrow. "That's a bit more military than I expected. But probably makes the most sense."
Jaune rolled his eyes. "Because you're working for me. Besides, it's a perfectly functioning uniform. You're allowed to modify it, as long as you retain the primary form. Any armor you add needs to have the appropriate symbolism to match your uniform."
But Nora was only barely listening. "I'm a warrior, damn it! Not some hospital maid!"
One of the Nightingales placed a hand on Nora's shoulder. Even without a real face, being a living silhouette of a person, one could tell she didn't take that well.
"Was that the one that threw a hospital bed?" Qrow asked.
Knox responded with a, "Yep," adding a pop at the end for emphasis.
Jaune looked to the side and narrowed his eyes. "Get ready. We have company."
Making their way down an old path to the tent was a duo. It was the Assassin and his Master.
"Here it comes." Nora bounced, waiting to see how cool her Spirit version was.
The Master stopped and the viewers finally got a good look at him. He was a dark haired man with deep blue eyes. "So, it seems the Rider is still alive after all. And falling in with a new crowd."
The Assassin chuckled. "I told you I should have finished her off. But that's fine. It doesn't really change anything now. But, since this is our second meeting, I'll give you the honor of knowing the man who killed you again."
But Jaune cut him off. "Rain Yamaoka. So I was right."
"Oh? So you know me?"
"There isn't a man in Mantle that doesn't know the man who killed the first king."
Ironwood slammed his fist onto the armrest of his chair. "That's why he was so familiar!"
"What?" Whitely spun with a jump at the man's sudden outburst. "I've never heard of him."
Winter sighed. "Rain is a mythic figure at this point. The kind that they study in military and huntsmen classes. And Father doesn't bother with anything that isn't contemporary or immediately helpful."
This also explained to Weiss why she'd never heard of him either.
Rain's grin spread hearing this. "I see. A Mantle man. Maybe you'll put up a better challenge than the red head."
This ticked Nora off. "Shut up! I'm your opponent! You hear me?!"
"Unfortunately." Rain dismissed her. "But I did promise I'd kill you again. So let's get it over with." Rain drew his umbrella and unfolded the fabric. "Let's get this over with."
Nora clenched her fists. She hadn't had the time to really resupply her mana. But, as she cursed the idea that she couldn't summon her weapon, she heard the sound of thunder. She looked up to find a cloud forming over them. After a moment, a bolt of lightning crashed down and revealed Magnhild. Nora smirked and picked her hammer up, ready to fight again.
Nora leapt toward Rain, who blocked the incoming attack with his umbrella. He was caught off guard when a Nightingale followed up with a punch to his side. This allowed Nora to capitalize on his failing, but she didn't. She just got mad and yelled at the Nightingale. "Stay out of this!"
This got Nora to groan in embarrassment. She understood her counterpart's feeling, but that wasn't exactly a good way to go about her goal.
Rain, however, was easily ready to capitalize, only to find Jaune get between the two. Jaune used a simple throw to keep Rain away. Jaune wasn't a strong Servant, but neither was Rain. Assassins are known to be weaker and focus on surprise attacks and other skills to finish off a person quickly.
Jaune glanced back to Nora, "Get your head out of your ass and take this seriously!"
"I am taking this seriously!"
"Then you could've done damage before! Instead you yell at the one that helped you!"
"I don't need help with this!"
"Could've fooled me."
"Are you two done with your lover's spat?" Rain smirked. "Because it's my turn." He drew a short, thin sword from his umbrella's handle and held the main body like a shield. He charged forward and thrust his blade forward. He just narrowly missed a dodging Nora, but used a swing on his foot to kick her away. As the combat Nightingales tried to swarm him from two sides, he ducked under one attack and blocked the other with his 'shield.'
Neo couldn't help but appreciate the fighting style. Even if she wasn't going to use anything from it specifically, it was still interesting to her.
Rain swung back around and blocked another attack from Nora, moving his umbrella under her defences and picked her up with the item. He tossed her off the umbrella and into one of the Nightingales, swinging into position to block incoming fire from the remaining nurse. "You should just give up."
Rain's Master hadn't moved. He knew that Velvet couldn't kill him, or perhaps wouldn't. Either way, the only threat was the Servants who were engaged in battle just trying to hold off Rain. "How sad. Even with so many, they can't even get Rain to use twenty percent of his ability."
"Not even twenty percent?!" This got Nora flabbergasted.
Rain swung around another swing, clearly not taking this very seriously. "This is pathetic." He swung a kick to knock one Nightingale away and smacked the other away with his umbrella. As Nora tried to close the distance, she found Rain ready for her. He knocked her away with the pommel end of her sword. "What do you think was different between our first fight and now exactly? Just because you got a new Master? You're a blunt instrument in a world of scalpels."
This made Nora a little uneasy. It was true she was kind of over the top, but this was the first time she ever saw it playing out. How would she handle a battle like this?
"Interesting analogy." Jaune was behind the Assassin and punched him square in the jaw. "If I was willing to use my instruments, I'd have probably turned that back on you properly. But you'll have to settle for that."
Rain clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Not bad. But ultimately fruitless." He kicked back to his feet and pushed back to knock Jaune away.
As Jaune recoiled, he barely dodged a swing. "Nora! Now would be a good time to strike!"
But Rain disagreed. "Oh please." He swung back around in time to block Nora's attack again with his umbrella. "As if you could beat me."
The camera showed as Jaune grinned. "Now! Use your full force!"
Nora cried out, bringing her hammer back up. "Magnhild!" She swung back down onto the umbrella, deliberately this time. Then up only to slam down again. After a moment, she formed a rhythm in a roundabout swing one after the other. "Rolling Thunder!" After a number of rotations, Nora slowed again with a giant swing ready. This time, when the hammer fell onto the umbrella, the wood and cloth shattered apart and sent Rain flying back.
Nora was on her feet shouting, "YES!"
Rain rolled across the ground growling. As he landed, he coughed from the strain. "Damn it. That was a good hit." He got back to his feet and wiped away a bit of blood from his lip. "But I'm not done yet." He reached into his coat and produced a throwing knife. With a flick of his wrist, they fanned out into several in both hands. "Behold my own Noble Phantasm!"
Rain's Master lost his calm demeanor and shouted to his Servant, "Rain! I didn't order you to use that power!"
"Don't care!" Rain swung his arms upward in two arcs, sending the knives flying upward. The knives flew up before stopping in the air and pointing toward the girl with the hammer. "Rain of Steel! River of Blood! I am the man who killed Mantle's king! DIE!" He swung his hands down and the knives flew forward toward Nora.
Before impact, one of the Nightingales jumped in with a medical bed and blocked the attack. As more knives embedded themselves into the bed, Nora and the nurse moved back before it was torn apart from the onslaught.
"That's a lot of knives." Qrow was getting way too used to all this weirdness.
Rain laughed and drew more knives. "This is my true power! My real strength! This is why I am 'Rain!' Die in the torrent of blades!"
Now distracted, he didn't see Jaune running up from behind him. "Cursus Iecit!" He had a dart gun and fired off a shot. However, Rain jumped away before it hit. But Jaune just grinned. The shot in question turned out to be an actual dart syringe. It hit Nora square in the shoulder.
After a moment, Nora roared out as she had an adrenaline rush.
Jaune brought his fist into his open hand. "Okay! First off, the… I? Whatever. He shouted Cursus Iecit, which means 'booster shot.'"
"Oh." It was a general feeling within the room.
Rain was caught off guard again as Nora slammed her hammer into his side far faster than before. He coughed up blood as he was sent flying. One of the Nightingale combatants caught him midair and swung him over her shoulder and onto the ground hard. Before he could get up again, Nora leapt into the air, swinging her hammer as electricity sparked off the metal. When she hit, a bolt of lightning ripped into the ground from above.
Nora was straight up drooling at the idea of what she could be capable of. This was giving her so many fun ideas.
As the dust settled, the screen showed Rain in a small crater. His body twitched as he choked out a pained breath. "Damn it…" Sparkles of gold started to rise up from his body. "Sorry Boss. Looks like I lost."
Rain's Master sighed. "So it seems." Once his Servant was gone, he turned away and started to walk off. "It's unfortunate, but that's life. Good luck." He waved back as he left them there.
Nora jumped up cheering. "We won!" She swung herself around and grabbed up Jaune and Velvet in a big hug. It was a heartwarming scene for many. Though a few were just neutral to it all.
The scene was pulled back to show a crosshair over them all.
"Uh oh." Sun took a sharp breath.
The camera moved to show Ruby Rose with her weapon in a sniper configuration. "That was impressive." She brought her weapon down a bit as she looked down from an upper roof of Beacon. "Looks like I have some interesting competition."
With that, the viewing ended for this round.
Yang tapped her foot on the ground, "So Ruby's a Servant in this too?"
Knox nodded, "Seems that way."
"Speaking of." Pyrrha turned to King. "Those card things. Could you explain why you have one that turned Jaune into the CRAZY SWORD PORTAL GUY?!" It was a rare moment of exasperated annoyance from Pyrrha.
The description caught Tyrian's attention and made him wonder what it could do for him.
King rolled his eyes. "Calm down. These are replicas. As for what they are specifically, they're called Class Cards. Even if they were real, and they type one could use the same way, most of them wouldn't affect his attitude. That one was just… special. It's pretty hard to control the King of Heroes."
"So, there are ways to control it?" Neptune asked.
"Yep. Some have a sort of hybrid effect where the Servants in the cards are conscious and enter into a pact with their user/Master, creating a sort of fusion between them both. If you want to see a more… positive example. We'll see."
