King: Back again after so long.
Knox: Good to be back. We went through three ideas before settling on what we did.
King: The Cards from the Chapter: Paradise will finally be described. Not all, but a few highlights. I'm going to add the rest as a list at the end of the chapter as an extra note for you all. It's a lot and will definitely boost the word count, but hey... Is what it is. Still ended up being a lot for so little really going down. In the end, there were three big stories cut into parts as they happen. Hope you enjoy.
Note: Forgot to mention that King and Knox have personal Twitter accounts now. King can be found at KingofViolet. Meanwhile, Knox is GoldenBoyKnox. The basic idea is that the base Account is more for me and interacting for the story specifically. Their personal Accounts, however, are basically always in character and you can interact with the characters specifically. It's a pandora's box, but it's open.
/\
Knox suddenly jolted up before he jumped from his balcony and stepped over to King, "I need to talk to you real quick. I'm thinking of adding an extension to the theater."
"Alright. Everyone, enjoy your intermissions." King and Knox walk off as everyone else starts to stir. As everyone left, King and Knox reached one of the balcony boxes. "What did you have in mind?"
"Okay, so hear me out…"

Off in the arena, we find Salem and her cohorts. Watts finished reading through the manual and nodded. "We can use this machine to outright practice against anyone we please. We can use this to find weaknesses in the Huntsmen."
"I want to kill the drunk one!" Tyrian chuckled, giddy as a young child looking forward to their birthday party. "Or maybe the General. Ooh! What about both?"
Salem moved to the side, heading toward the stands to the side of the arena. "I shall observe your training. Select whomever you wish. But make it worthwhile. The four of you will work together for now."
"Of course, my goddess!" Tyrian bowed in subservience, clearly more enthusiastic than the other three.
Watts shook his head and typed out a set up for the arena. "Let's just get this over with." With one last button press, he moved away from the screen and led the others toward the ring.
No one noticed as a tiny golden fireball appeared. It floated around like it was on lookout before entering the console. As it left, it laughed to itself and faded away. The console began to switch settings and move difficulties. What was once a Level 1 Raid became a Level 6 regardless of the usual setting limiters.
Salem's team, minus their leader, gathered in the ring as the summons platform began to rise. The glowing sphere formed before six rings formed around it. For anyone that had been in the arena, that was a major red flag. Unfortunately for them, there were exactly zero people in the arena that fit such. The six rings snapped onto the sphere and shattered it before creating a screen of smoke. There was a tense feeling in the air before a sharp sound rang out over the ring. A heavy boot struck the ground, accompanied by the sound of armor plates with a light mechanical noise.
Cinder felt her blood go cold. "No…"
This made Watts turn to her with a raised eyebrow.
The figure began to move through the smoke as the tint of glowing red eyes. Its armored body became visible as an eight foot humanoid beast of armor. In his hand was a massive hand cannon and in the other was a sword with chainsaw teeth along the blade. On his large pauldrons was a pair of symbols: a skull on one and twin arcs on the other. His name is Jaune Arc, Astartes of the Arcadian Chapter of Space Marines.
The countdown above them hit 10.
Tyrian laughed and snapped his weapons open. "That armor looked strong! I can't wait to break it!"
The Marine turned to Tyrian. "So you admit to your heresy against the Emperor and his angels. Then you have chosen death."
5
Cinder slid a foot back, "Damn it. Watts! What did you set that thing to?!"
"What?" The scientist turned, confused, "I set it to a low level. This shouldn't be an issue. Much less something that scares you."
3
"Like hell it shouldn't!"
The scene made Salem raise an eyebrow. Was something going on?
2
1
Then the tone to begin rang out.
Tyrian ran forward and raised his hands to fire toward the Marine. The bullets bounced off his armor as he started to return the charge. Tyrian reached the man and leapt up with a hand forward and the other reeled back to bring down his blade. The Marine just placed his pistol on his side, grabbed the forward hand, and slammed the scorpion man onto the ground. He then took his bolter cannon from his side and fired onto the man as he reeled. No aura was truly able to fight something like this. Tyrian disappeared after two shots and reappeared in the stands as he fell onto the chairs.
This caused Salem to jump a bit. "What just happened?"
Cinder was shaking seeing this monster again. But Hazel and Watts effectively forced her back to the fight. She was the one with magic and a Semblance that would actually help against armored opponents. She needed to get her head in the game, but the Marine turned to her and made her hitch again.
Watts opened a device on his arm and leveled his pistol toward the man, firing as he tried to find a technological weak point. "What's with this armor? It's completely unlike anything I've seen before."
Hazel grit his teeth as the Marine started to run toward them again. The large man was ready to take whatever came his way. Despite his Semblance shutting off his pain reception, he also had a higher aura level compared to the others. Tyrian, in truth, had the lowest level of aura, likely why his own Semblance was designed to break aura on touch. Which is what made what came next all the more concerning.
Jaune raised his blade up, the teeth springing to life with a sickening roar of mechanized death. He brought the weapon down on Hazel's shoulder. The teeth ripped into Hazel's aura before breaking it open and spraying Hazel's blood into the air. Hazel survived just long enough for everything to feel wrong. He can't feel pain, but he can't feel much of anything now. He suddenly felt himself return as he found himself in the stands.
This made Salem stand in shock, slowly turning to the ring. "What the hell is he?"
Watts, meanwhile, fired another round, only to find a pistol-whip to the nose before a hard punch to the jaw with the sword hand. As Watts's head bounced across the ground, he disappeared and fell onto the stands. This left only Cinder to face the Marine. The woman tried to grit her teeth and hold herself for what was to come. She spared a glance toward Salem before turning back to face the Astartes slowly walking toward her. As he reached her, she looked toward the hidden eyes of the Marine. "Make it quick at least."
"You know to fear of the Emperor's Angels. So I shall give you that much." Jaune took his bolter and fired a heavy slug at Cinder's head at point blank.

A loud ring echoed over the game room followed by Nora's laughter. "At last! I am the Queen once again!"
Jaune sighed with a light smile. Team JNPR had returned to the Game Room alongside the rest of the now expanded crew. Team JNPR had returned to the game of markets and trade on Nora's insistence. She said she had to avenge her previous loss. Jaune decided to let her have this early, but he knew he had to make it convincing. This proved easier than he expected. Nora learned from last time and wouldn't make the more rash decisions of buying only the big properties rather than using low price, easily gathered spaces in tandem. She'd basically copied his original strategy. He had to hold himself back a bit, but Nora ultimately took the victory without him having to sabotage himself too much.
Everyone else was playing various games, except for Neo. She was digging around, trying to find something. After a while, she found a promising item and pulled it out from the shelves. It was a colorful box themed around a casino table.
Yang let out a groan and leaned back in frustration, having been knocked out of the Remnant: the Board Game. She glanced to the side and found Neo and the box. "What'cha got?"
Neo popped open the box and started to shuffle through the cards. Her eyes went wide before slowly lowering the deck, looking out at nothing as her hands quickly shuffled the cards around as if to avoid the one she saw.
This got Yang curious and she walked over to the shorter girl. She leaned over Neo's shoulder and found the object in question. It was a deck of cards, the front card or which was a picture of Yang herself, her jacket and belt / skirt removed, sitting on a barstool with a smug look, her arms in a half shrug, as if to convey she knew she looked good. Yang took the card and stared at her portrait, finding herself to be the 10 of Hearts. "Oh right! This is that deck from the casino power version."
Blake was just removed from the game, not really caring about it before and only surviving off of doing nothing, and made her way to Yang. She looked down to Neo and waved her hand in front of the ice cream themed girl. "Is she okay?"
Neo blinked back to her senses and glanced toward Yang and Blake. She had seen a few of the cards and she knew what to expect within.
Blake grabbed a random card and found her own, the 10 of Spades. It showed Blake dressed in a tight black shirt that showed off her midriff, white pants, and tall black boots (Volume 4 style with no coat). She appeared to be in a moment of rest in a hotel stage seat. "I almost forgot about these. But what got Neo to freeze up?" Then she flipped another card and felt her blood go a little cold. Or warm, if you want to think about it that way.
The scene gathered many of the others, including a triumphant Nora. She plucked a card before gasping in amazed joy, showing off her card. "Oh my gosh I look so cool!" She showed the Queen of Spades with Nora dressed in a dealer's uniform with black slacks, a pink button up, and a light blue vest. She was posed as though tossing a series of five cards into the air with sets of two surrounding the lower section of the scene.
Of course, others continued to flock over to the deck. Ren found his card, the Jack of Spades, to be similar to Nora's, with black slacks, a white shirt, and green vest. His theme centered around a roulette table with Ren tossing a small gold ball into the air. "That explains the theme from that version. He swapped to Roulette picking this card because it was my theme."
Pyrrha pulled a card from the deck, finding her own. She was dressed like the others in the Spade suit: black slacks, red shirt, and bronze vest. Her theme as King of Spades centered around her holding two cards, an Ace of Diamonds held upward in one hand and the Jack of Clubs held downward in the other. A large 21 settled in the upper left hand corner of the background. "How interesting."
And, of course, Jaune found his own. Unlike the rest of the Spades, Jaune's literal Ace card showed him dressed in a full white suit with a black button up, a black Spade pin on his left lapel, and a gold tie. He was shown with blurry scenes behind him as he walked about his glittering palace. "Huh." He wasn't expecting to be such a pivotal card, but this whole theater was basically doing that, so…
Weiss took her card and found her card to be the 10 of Diamonds. It showed her dressed in a long whit dress she would use for more formal occasions. She was seemingly walking around the casino as a VIP of some sort. A blurry image of Klein behind her with a drink server. The scene wasn't quite as happy with the theme, reminding her too much of her father's formal events, but it wasn't too bad. It seemed like a nicer moment given her card counterpart was smiling.
As this was happening, Penny held her card and tilted her head slightly. "Friend Ruby."
Said hooded girl turned to her robotic friend, "What's up?"
"From what I've observed, cards of the same suits have some form of theme. I'm afraid I do not understand how my card matches with Yang's as both are Heart cards."
"Okay. Let's see." Ruby takes the card and instantly turned red.
Printed there on the card was Penny, suspended in the air with glowing, neon green cording. Her arms were held together above her head and her legs were given just enough slack to close her upper legs together while both were bent and separated by the taught strings. What made it worse was Penny's attire and state. She was only dressed in an off white, green tinted corset with matching panties along with a pair of black stockings reaching to her mid-thigh. Her face showed a relaxed seduction, the kind that isn't actively trying to seem seductive but is impossible to ignore that it is.
Ruby blinked as she side-eyed Penny and back to the card. "Um… I can't be sure of a pattern with just one or two cards…" This was true, and her attempt to move on, not sure how to even begin explaining it to Penny.
Penny turned from her card to Yang's and back. "I believe I may know the connection."
This made Ruby lose any sense of embarrassment and turned to a more curious mindset, "You do?"
"Do what?" Yang, having felt attention on her for a moment, had gotten behind Ruby and wrapped an arm over her sister's shoulders. She looked toward the card still in Ruby's hands. Ruby could practically feel the shock as her sister's grip loosened. Yang slowly plucked the card from Ruby and looked it over. There was a silence, and a slightly nervous Ruby. Yang had a habit of going ballistic if Ruby might have even hinted at the idea of knowing about sex. But Yang surprised her. The blonde sister just gave a quick chuckle, "Damn. That kind of hot, not going to lie."
Ruby turned to her sister with an expression that clearly said, 'WHAT?!' without actually shouting it.
Yang saw this and laughed. "Come on, Ruby. As I've been made aware, you're '15, not 5.'" Yang used Ruby's own words against her.
"Who are you and what have you done with my sister?"

Back in the arena, Salem's cavalcade of fuck-ups were watching as the smart one picked through the manuels to see what the hell went wrong. Watts, eventually, figured out the six rings was a dead giveaway that something had been tampered with. "Alright." He punched in another set and nodded. "It should be fixed."
Cinder growled, "It better be."
Tyrian moved to look over Watts' shoulder, "Our goddess was displeased with our efforts last time. We need to show her our devotion with this effort!"
Watts huffed and walked off, with the others in tow. Again, no one noticed a small gold fireball appear and mess with the console before disappearing.
As everyone entered the arena again, Salem narrowed her eyes. She called down to her lackeys, "Have you fixed it then?"
Watts called back up in return, "I believe so. However, there was clear tampering. I can't be certain there hasn't been…"
"Enough of the excuses." Salem was becoming more irate. "Your last venture had nothing I could call a battle. If this is to be some kind of training, then there must be an actual battle. Now, get to it!"
The system began to spark to life as the orb of summoning appeared.
Watts sighed, "Guess we're doing this again."
The orb began to constrict again. Thankfully for them, the giant man of metal didn't appear again. But the constricting continued further without creating a form. Soon, it started to create a silhouette of a small humanoid. After a moment, it popped to reveal a small child with white hair and green eyes. She was dressed in a black and purple sleeveless top, black panties, thigh-high boots, bandaging on both her arms, and a series of knives. She had tattoos of an angular O on either shoulder and a pair of scars on her face. She looked around, confused and amazed by what was around her.
Salem slammed her hands on her chair's armrest, "A child?! Watts, explain!"
"I don't select what gets summoned! I purposefully set it to a third level difficulty! We'd be able to handle something like that, but it remains random."
"Who cares?!" Tyrian snapped his weapons back open, "This is our time! We'll just sacrifice her to our goddess!"
As the beginning tone rang out, the girl spoke. It was an innocent voice, a childish tone. And she said only a single word, "Mommy?"
\/
As things began to settle a little, Coco was sitting back with her own card in hand. Her King of Hearts showed Coco sitting atop her unfolded minigun with strategically placed ammo belts covering her chest. It was pretty artistic all things considered. They eventually figured out that the Hearts, or Heartbreakers, was based on sex appeal.
Velvet's Ace of Hearts definitely hit that. She was dressed in a chocolate brown leotard with matching heels along with sheer black hosiery. She was posed like a pinup model with a leg bent as she balanced on the other. She had a finger raised over her lips with a knowing grin.
Then Neo hit different. Girl's Queen of Hearts was dressed in a white bustier with a set of mismatched stockings, obviously one brown and one pink. She was sitting in a giant ice cream boat with one of her legs hanging over the side while the other was held upward. She was resting against the other side like she was sitting against the side of a hot tub or something.
Of course, going back over all that just got Coco to turn to the larger group. And it was at this angle that she noticed something interesting. She stood up and made her way around the scene, trying to sneak around the area.
Off to the side and on the other side of the door, Ilia was pacing back and forth. "Okay, calm down. Just need to go in there and say it. They're all there, so you can get an answer. Just need to go in and ask. They might say no… No! Stop it Ilia. You did this with Blake back then. Don't mess this up now."
"Having trouble?" Coco had managed to sneak up on the chameleon faunas thanks to her mental distractions. This caused the girl to jump and fall onto her rear. "Sorry about that. Saw you poking your head in the door and figured I see what's up."
Ilia picked herself up and brushed herself off. "It's… fine. Just psyching myself up."
"I heard." Coco glanced back into the room as she leaned against the wall beside the door, "So, who is it? If you don't mind my asking. I heard you mention Blake."
"That's in the past." Ilia turned away and shook her head. "I never said anything to Blake back then. I built her up in my head and never really knew her. I don't want to make that mistake this time."
"Arc. Got it."
Coco's blunt hitting of the nail made Ilia trip over herself. "W-what? I didn't even…"
"I've seen enough eyes on Arc to recognize the signs." After a slight pause, she continued, "And I have a partner that used to do what you're doing now, only for her to back out."
"Isn't Velvet your partner?"
"And it took two other girls to pool their confidence to get where she is now. So do yourself a favor, if you're gonna do this, then do it. Might as well get it over with at this point. Probably better than standing out here just talking to me." Coco paused a moment. She needed to know something first, "Real quick though, what got you interested in Arc? I'd kind of get it if you were part of the crew, you'd know him pretty well by now. But we met you here. So I'm curious."
Ilia paused a moment before taking a breath. "I'll admit, I don't know him like you all do. But I have kind of been watching you all. What I see, I can feel like I want to know him. Just, skipping to maybe being romantic. He's kind, honest, trustworthy… And genuine." That last one was too important to her. She knows what it's like to put up a front, a false face, even when you're not what most people think you should be. "Does that make sense?"
"As much sense as anything else going on around here. And hey, people have gotten together with less." Coco smirked and kicked herself off the wall. "Get in there. No way to know if you don't ask."
Ilia nodded and looked back to the door, more determined. "Thanks." Then she started to chuckle a little, "If I knew you earlier, maybe things would've been different." Then she glances over to Coco and a somber realization hits her. If I'd known a human like her as a child… would I have…? She grows a small smile and nods lightly. "Yeah… I think it would've."
As Ilia left into the door, Coco leaned back against the door. "You did a good thing, Coco." She chuckled a little and looked into the room. It was a surprise to most of the room, obviously, but one of them recovered quickly. Nora, of course, was quick to accept the faunas and the feelings she put into the room. Oddly, it seemed like Blake was the most surprised. Coco let out a sigh before making her way back into the room. Maybe I need to listen to my own advice one day.

Back in the lounge, Tai was taking a sip from his drink seemingly mid-story. "Then we convinced him the skirt is actually a kilt and part of the guys' uniform!"
"No!" Sienna was stifling a bit of laughter. "He actually fell for that?" She was sitting across from him at a two seat table, her own drink resting half-emptied on the table.
"He did!" Tai snickered a bit as he continued, "He was so mad at us."
"And this was Raven's idea?"
"They were always messing with each other. Back then, it was just a more normal kind. But yeah, she told me the idea and we decided to have fun with it. Qrow, to his credit, does kind of laugh about it nowadays. Just don't bring it up if you don't have to."
"Noted." Sienna picked up her drink, taking a sip. "I kind of wish I had stories like that. But…" Sienna's ears drooped slightly, silently giving her reason.
Tai nodded as he took a long sip from his drink. "Hey, things are getting better now, though. Right?"
Sienna nodded with a small smile. "True." She finished off her drink before letting out a light sigh. "I just want to say thanks. For listening to me before."
"Hey, don't worry about it," Tai laughed it off. "I'm always happy to help out if I can."
"I've noticed." Sienna used the magic menus they'd been given to get a refill of her glass. After another sip, she let out a sigh. "You've shown that pretty well by letting me stay with you in Patch."
"Hey, don't worry about it." Tai gave a quick chuckle. "Honestly, it's nice having some company around the house again. You know, other than Zwei."
Sienna stifled a light laugh. That dog was an interesting creature. He almost came across as being quite intelligent, then he would go back to barking at shadows. "He is pretty interesting company, though."
This time Tai had to hold back a laugh. "You're not wrong. Terrible at conversation though. And that's not to mention when he feels like being a stubby little menace." Tai took another sip from his drink as his laughter died down a little.
As a silence fell over them, Sienna glanced into her glass. Her eyes narrowed slightly before she let out a light sigh. "Tai… Can I ask you something?"
Tai, mid-sip, paused as he looked at her. His inner dad wanted to say you just did, but this sounded too serious for him to pull that card. Putting his glass down again he answered, "Sure."
Sienna took a breath before looking back to him, meeting his eyes with a determined visage. "Are you… perhaps…" Sienna never had much… any experience with this particular subject. But she wasn't just some school girl with a crush. She was a full grown woman and leader of the former White Fang, damnit! With a small reassuring breath, she continued, "Have you left the market, so to speak? I know you've already been through two relationships that… didn't end well, but…" As soon as that thought was out there, her voice faded out on her, thinking it was a touchy subject.
Tai just blinked, seemingly confused. "Uh… I mean, I'm not against the idea, and I guess I tried a couple years ago, but nothing stuck." Tai chuckled at an old memory. "Ruby didn't take it so well at the time. I tried to explain it but she didn't really get it for a year, around the time I explained that Yang's birth mother was actually Raven."
"Wait, did she not know?"
"It never came up." Tai played with the rim of his glass a bit, leaning the drink at an angle. "But, after that I just never had much time for much. I guess I kind of felt like, if it was going to happen, whoever it was would come to me. And if no one ever came around, I'd just accept it. You know?"
Sienna nodded. She got the basic idea. But more importantly, her answer. "Well, maybe someone finally did."
"You sure?" Tai gave a small smirk, "You'll have to deal with my two daughters as well."
"I was running the White Fang for years. I can handle two girls."
"Well, if you want to see where this goes, I say we go."
Tai and Sienna sat there in the lounge, a comfortable feeling building between them. It was as though nothing could break the feeling. The start of something worthwhile. But time will tell, won't it?

Salem scowled toward the arena, covered in fog. She couldn't see anything within, and hadn't since that child seemingly created the blanket of fog. This was getting ridiculous. She stood from her seat and made her way into the arena. Normally, this would not be allowed, but she entered without issue. Within the fog was a scene of an old city at night, similar to Vale but older. She made her way across the cobblestone street and to a back alley market. And it was there she found Cinder.
Cinder was huddled up in a fetal position, seemingly attempting to hide behind a corner stall. She huddled away, eyes barely hidden from the light. As Salem approached, Cinder's head jumped to look toward the approaching figure. "Lady Salem!" Cinder scrambled to her feet and ran to the immortal witch. "You're really here, right?! This isn't some kind of trick?"
"Cinder, what are you talking about?"
Then, they heard the sound of children singing. "Ladybird, ladybird~ Fly away home."
Cinder was suddenly shaking like a leaf, clutching to and hiding behind Salem, something that confused the immortal even more. Cinder never acted like this.
The children's voices were getting louder, "Your house is on fire, and your children are gone. Only little Jack is still here."
A light weight landed on Salem's back as a pair of knives were crossed over her neck. The child from before had appeared from nowhere, continuing their twisted song, "And they can taste your blood, and smell your fear~"
Salem swiped at the child, not caring for damage caused to her neck.
As the child landed, she tilted her head seeing Salem's wound healing so quickly, "That's so cool!" She dropped into a ready stance, "But I have to kill you." The girl charged forward and lunged at Salem.
Salem created a barrier to block the attack before bursting it to push the girl away. "I don't know who you are, girl, but I'm not in the mood to deal with you."
The girl landed with a bit of grace before standing up again, "You're no fun."
"I don't intend to be."
"That's too bad. But mommy says I should introduce myself before I kill someone. We are the combined consciousness of the children killed by a cruel world." As the fog around her began to thicken, glowing eyes appeared within. Soon, more children appeared and walked forward as the first girl continued, "We are the children cast aside by cruel parents who refused us." More children walked from the fog, many in little more than rags. "We are the children taken by cruel mothers, like you."
What happened next nearly made Salem's blood go cold. There they were, her four daughters, standing among the fog. Each one was burned and ragged, their clothing torn in some areas as they each seemed broken. All four looked at her as her oldest daughter spoke, the first time Salem heard her voice since that night, "Father was right about you."
A loud tone cut through the area as the fog and children all faded away. King's voice carried over the now empty arena, "The Arena is now closed. Two minute warning. Please return to your seats in the theater."
Salem looked around to find her underlings sprawled out over the arena. The immortal witch let out a breath and turned to leave, only to find that girl from the beginning standing there. She said nothing, just smiled at the witch. The girl began to fade away as she silently mouthed her final words to the witch. "Bye bye, mommy~" And with that, she was gone. Salem tensed her fist before moving on. It was best to do so now.
