Chapter 1: Hello there?

-Greece-

'The sun, oh how I hate the sun right now. The big ball of heat smiling down at me with a sadistic grin.' A boy thought to himself as he lifted his head up and glared under his straw hat.

"Alexander, stop glaring at the sun and help me prepare the fruit platter!" A woman chided him and gave him a stern glare.

"But you know I hate the heat mum." Alex said quietly as he helped his mother, by arranging the watermelon and other pieces of fruit on a plater. All the while his siblings get to go for a swim in the refreshing cold clear blue water. And his older brother, who should be helping, was lazing about on a beach chair next to his grandfather. All Alex could do was glare enviously.

"Why? You're Australian and Greek you should be fine with the heat and humidity?" Alex's mum asked as she raised a brow.

"And?! That means nothing, maybe I prefer the cold." Alex replied as he tossed a grape into his mouth. Andria just shook her head as she continued to prepare the fruit platter.

"So Alex... How is your father?" Alex could only grumble under his breath, as he heard that question asked from his mum. It was always the same with those two. Always playing 21 questions with each other, however they like to add us into the game as messengers to each other.

"Good... I guess. I don't know?" Alex did know though. His dad is always working, and if he wasn't working, then he was most likely to be drinking. But he doesn't blame him for that. It's the fact he's always working and drinking that he's missing out on everything.

Alex didn't really care if it was his things that his dad missed out on. It was the little ones that Alex cared about the most. And Alex was the second eldest of three younger brothers, one older brother and three younger sisters. All whom Alex loves dearly and would fight tooth and nail for. Two are from different fathers but they didn't care, they were all siblings at the end of the day.

"Has your father been... seeing anyone lately?... Any special ladies?" Alex's mum asked, trying to seem uninterested. But it only irritated Alex as he started to get angry.

"I'm going for a jump!" Alex said through gritted teeth, as he just stormed off to a nearby cliff that was a known spot for diving off of.

"Alex, come back!" Alex's mum called out to him. But Alex ignored her and continued to walk away. Alex's older brother seeing this sighed.

"Jason, go after your brother." Jason and Alex's grandfather commanded Jason as he turned towards his daughter and gave her a glare. All Jason could do was sigh again as he stood up and followed after Alex.

-Cliffside -

"Stupid questions, always got to ask us. Oh, I don't know, maybe ask the man yourself!" Alex said aggressively to himself. As he kicked a small stone on the ground as he walked. Arriving at the spot, Alex took a seat on a small boulder. He took deep breathes to calm himself. And it was working too.

That was until he felt a mild slap to the back of the head. Rage returned with fury as he turned around with break neck speed. Only to find his older brother smirking at him with a cocky grin.

"So little brother, what's got you all riled up. Was it something Mother asked you?" Jason asked with an all too familiar tone.

"I don't get it... Why does she ask us these questions, when she was the one that walked out on us? She put dad in the position he's in, and she acts all nonchalant about it all." Alex grumbled as he turned back to look out towards the ocean, glaring underneath his straw hat. Blinking rapidly to get rid of some of the tears that were starting to build up.

"You're too angry, little brother. There's not much for you to do. You're only Fifteen. You need to stop carrying everything and live, brother." Jason said as he picked up a couple of pebbles and started tossing them off the cliff.

"If I don't do anything, then who will?! Dad's an alcoholic who overworks himself, Mum's not around because she walked out on us. You're barely around because you're off studying... Who else other than me to look after them. I'm always so angry because I... I don't know what to do. I-I feel so helpless." Alex explained as he looked down solemnly, clenching his hands as a single tear slid down his cheek. A silence drew out between the two brothers.

"... Do you... Hate me, for leaving?" Jason asked quietly as he tossed another stone.

"NO!... no!... I don't hate you for leaving, I would never hate you for choosing to live for once... I just wish I could do the same." Alex said honestly as he turned towards Jason and gave him a sad smile. Jason smiled back as he tossed the last stone. Took off Alex's straw hat. Then wrapped his arm over Alex's shoulder and brought him into a brotherly hug.

"Sometimes... I just wished I had the same strength as you. To choose my life and find that same freedom." Alex sniffed as a bit more tears started to fall. Alex couldn't remember the last time he actually had some quality time with his older brother.

'The last time I guess, was before he moved out of home.' Alex thought as he enjoyed the safety his older brother always seemed to have.

"Come on my little SkiĆ”, let's go for a dive before the rest come yeah?." Jason said as he gave Alex a cheeky smile and stood up.

"Stop calling me that." Alex said as he too stood up and frowned at his brother. But the moment his brother turned his back too him Alex had a smile on his face. As they got to the usual spot and tossing their shirts away. They looked over to check for any dangers that may have changed last time they were there.

"Is it just me or does the water looks like it's glowing?" Jason asked as he looked and there was faint glow that seemed to spark off of the water.

"Nah, looks fine to me. Probably just the light making it look like that. It's the Mediterranean bro, it's supposed to look like it's glowing. Well, are we going to jump or not?" Alex replied as he looked at the water. Too be fair he thought the water did seem to glow a bit. Jason looking back at the water just shrugged his shoulders.

"You first, you wanted to go cliff jumping. You first." Jason said as he started doing small stretches.

"Rock, paper, scissors?" Alex asked.

"Rock, paper, scissors!" Jason agreed with a nod.

"Okay, three. Two. One. Rock, paper, scissors Shoot/shoot!!" Alex and Jason yelled as they both held up there hands. With Alex who had Rock, and Jason held up paper as he laughed in victory.

"Ah crap, best out of three?!" Alex said as he tried pestering his brother for a rematch.

"Stop being a sore loser." Jason said as he got a big rock and tossed it over and into the water. Alex just sighed in resignation as he walked to a safe distance for a running start.

"Three. Two. One... Go!" After Jason yelled go, Alex took off with speed as he ran closer to the edge of the cliff. At a suitable distance Alex sprang as he went into a dive, with his arms stretched out into a leap of faith. Time seemed to slow down as he got closer to the water.

Everything went black as he closed his eyes as he was submerged into the ocean.

'Peaceful.' Alex thought as he heard the waves and the currents. The smooth lullaby of the ocean. It felt like years of silence was only a few moments of peace. He then started to swim upwards. And as he broke through the water something felt different. Something felt... wrong.

'Huh? Where's the cliffs?.. And who are those people?' Alex thought as he saw on the shores of what was cliffs now a beach. And on the beach he saw a large group of people with wagon's, horses and tents with the occasional cages filled with people.

"Are they LARPing?" Alex questioned himself as he started swimming to shore. When he got to knee depth water. He saw he was wearing new clothes. Gone was his board shorts. He now wore a blue chiton tied with a brown belt at his waist. He also wore black sandals.

"What the?!... what is going on?!" Alex said as he started scratching his shoulder length black curly hair in frustration he saw some men who had armour and swords walk towards him. As Alex walked towards them warily, he suddenly stopped as one of the soldiers drew his sword and pointed it towards Alex.

'For a LARP weapon those seem pretty real?' Alex thought as another man stood forward.

"Um, hello there... I think I'm lost, could you help me?" Alex asked as the feeling of unease started to return with vengeance. The man who looked to be in charge look at Alex curiously.

"Where do you hail from boy?" The man asked curiously. Alex raised a brow at the way he talked.

'To be fair, he is LARPing.' Alex thought to himself quickly.

"Um, I co- hail from Australia however I uh, was visiting my family, uh people in Greece... This is the lands of Greece, is it not?" Alex asked.

'That was horrible!' Alex thought to himself as he tried to get into the LARPing.

"I... I have not heard of such places boy. This is Essos. How old are you boy?" The man asked as he furrowed his brows in confusion.

'Essos huh, must be roleplaying game of thrones or something. Eh who am I to judge.' Alex thought.

"I'm Fifteen years old sir." Alex told the man, but the man just looked more confused as he and his men exchanged confused looks.

"Ah, right. I meant 5 and 10 my good ser." Alex said with a small bow. The man just looked amused.

"Interesting, I am Valar Gyserion. What may I call you?" Valar finally introducing himself.

"I am Alexander Alcaeus Keeman." Alex said as Valar looked once again confused.

"You have three names, do you come from two houses?" Valar asked with curiosity. Alex on the other hand started getting frustrated.

"I'm sorry, I get it you all want to role play a game of thrones or something like that. But I really am confused on where we are. Last time I checked I jumped off some cliffs and was only underwater for only a few seconds. Now... now I'm standing here on a beach with not a cliff insight. Can you please tell me which way town is?!" Alex asked as his patience finally ran out. Alex's amber eyes bore into Valar's dark brown eyes. They stared for a moment, a tense minute passed. Before Valar moved to his right as he pointed with his left hand towards inland.

"The closest town is that way, boy." Valar said, as he had a smile that unnerved Alex. But Alex ignored the feeling as he walked out of the water and pass one of the guards. It was at that moment that Alex felt something slam into the back of his head. As his vision went black once again, but not before feeling his face plant into the ground. Alex finally embraced the sweet bliss of unconsciousness.
