Aisha had told me that she had joined that new dojo with that strange beer' guy, and that, supposedly, she was doing it "well", with some of his real learnings; somethimes, I saw her leaving there before I went into my yoga class and she left hers, (for her it was really worth it to arrive on time at my yoga classes) and she had told me to join it with her a couple of times that they needed some more students very urgently before close up their doors, and, although it didn't surprise me at all, I still continued to refuse; sometimes we would greet each other at the lockers, and, one day, although I acted surprised when we saw Sam, a little upset, there, without the other two "plastic flowers", Aisha just ignored her; I asked her for a good reason, since, in my opinion, she was healing quite well and quickly, she simply replied:
-I don't want to be seen near her, especially after what... she did-. she told me whispering, at least she had that decency to whisper:
-What are you talking about?-. I stopped her.
-Well, apparently, she and her boyfriend Kyler, you know Kyler, right? They went to the movie theater the other day, and during the movie, things got... a little porn...-.
-What are you trying to tell me?-.
-Everyone is saying she... sucked him off-. and an disgusting mental image came to me.
-Oh, God-. I was absolutely disgusted, I looked to everywhere. I couldn't believe that anyone else at that damn school believed something like that, and, definitely, I don't think, never, in a million years, I could believe something like that from Samantha, 'cause, please! Sam was too beautiful and intelligent and she didn't look desperate enough (no one could really be) to have to suck it to an asshole like Kyler (especially, not in a public place).
-That can not be possible-.
-Well, either that happened or the movie got a little boring-.
-And you believe that?-.
-Maybe not much, but it's really nice when that the attention is finally focusing on someone other than us-. she said smiling.
-I think everything is getting better now-.
-We should do something for her-.
-Something like what she has done for us? No, thank you-.
-But, Aisha...-.
-Oh, C'mon, relax, as she told me once: "They have short memories"-. Her attitude was starting to bother me.
-Look, I can completely understand that you are still angry with her, and I don't blame you at all, but I don't want to stay without doing anything for someone who doesn't deserve something of this... caliber!-.
I made to go, but she stopped me.
-Oh, please, I'm pretty sure you know that the girls like Yasmine and her little friends always love to be the center of attention, all f*cking the time-.
-Ah, yeah, right, but the problem it's just that we're not talking about Yasmine anymore-. I turned around and left. In those days, I almost never saw the three of them together, probably Moon and Yasmine had no intention of tarnishing their prestige with a rumor of that style; I was quite angry, I didn't want to nor could I sit with my arms crossed, but, my dad was right, I had to think of something good so I could sink those idiots to the bottom. That day, during math class, Demetri said he was very sorry for me, when I asked him why, he said it was because someone else had won me the Kyler's "little prize", and that he knew how much I liked Kyler, because, why else would I go to the gym, to spy on those wrestling classes? but I only pretended to be a little hurt, I couldn't say anything to him, I couldn't risk it at that moment, I just wanted to drown them.
Luckily, things got a little more interesting during the lunchtime. I was going to the cafeteria when I ran into my father, and we decided left to chat a little more discreetly in his car;
-Hey, what's going on, honey? I've heard a big commotion in my last two classes-. He saw me with my usual angry face.
-Please, don't tell me this is about another new rumor-. I didn't need to respond.
-Is it about you? or about that girl Aisha?, I have not received any notification- He rushed to take out his phone.
-Don't worry, it's not about me, it's so much worse than that, it's about Sam, and her I guess now ex-boyfriend-.
-And why is that so much worse?-.
-Dad!-.
-Alright, you're right-.
-I've been thinking during all day what I should do about them-.
-maybe you could put some sugar in the gasoline of Yasmine's car-.
-I don't need to do anything to her stupid little toys-. I almost missed telling him that he had already done something with that.
-I think the only possible way for us to be even, is to humiliate them as much as they humiliate us-.
-Babe, I think you're too obsessed with that girl-.
-But, Dad, what would you do if you heard an idiot saying that I had sucked him off?-. I was already trying hard not to scream.
-That's what they're saying Sam did?, What the he...-.
-That's exactly what I thought! and don't tell me you wouldn't want to, at the very least, rip him off!-.
-Calm down-. and hugged me to calm me down.
-I don't want you to get into trouble, I know very well what is they deserve, I just want you to think about things before doing them and have respect for yourself-. One of the oldest pieces of advice that exist in my family. I tried to breathe and nodded my head.
As the two of us walked back inside, a couple of guys ran up to me screaming that there was a big fight in the cafeteria, My father ran out because at that moment he should have been patrolling there and could get in trouble if he didn't stop them in time. When we got there we made our way as best we could against the large crowd, I got to Aisha's side who was just shouting and encouraging whoever was kicking all the butts there at that moment, Miguel.
I couldn't believe that Miguel had fought Kyler and his idiot friends completely alone; Dad did not waste the opportunity and went to grab the other idiots and if he did any harm to them, he would surely say that it was Miguel, the last thing I could see was Miguel hitting Kyler in his pretty face with one of the food trays and everyone applauded him, and I must admit that I did too; Shortly after I received a video notification of everything that had happened, it turned out that it was Kyler who had spread that silly rumor, with the help of his friends (and probably his stupid friend Yasmine) and when Sam went to confront him, (That's my girl!), the only one who dared to stop him and give him a good beating had been Miguel, I was glad that among all that bunch of cowards, there was someone who had courage, Miguel had taken an enormous risk, they could punish him or maybe even expel him, but it had been worth all the worth in the world, and dad said he would defend him as much as he could.
Afterwards, I had gone to look for my van in the parking lot, when I found Moon smoking some weed in her car with her small pipe, luckily, Yasmine was not there so I approached her, it was obvious that the poor thing needed to relax a little after the fight.
-Hi, Moon-.
-Oh!-. she screamed when he saw me.
-Dear lord!, I thought it was that homeless woman who always asks me for my money-. What she said sounded very strange but, it was much better not to contradict her in that... state.
-I was just going to tell you to open the windows to let out the smoke-.
She rolled down the window and asked me:
-Is the fight over?-.
-Yes-.
I was about to leave, when she said:
-I can't believe all that started because of Sam-.
-Don't tell me that you believed Kyler-.
-Um, well, he told us some of the terrible things that Sam said about us, and it hurt us a lot...-. I rolled my eyes. Those two were very good at hiding their "pain".
-Then, she confronts us like he did with Kyler a while ago-.
I said nothing, I just looked at her with my "How could you be so stupid?" face.
-Do you believe her?-.
-I'll just going to tell you that, if I had done it, I wouldn't have confronted Kyler in such a public way-.
I think at that moment I made him realize and she started to regret it.
-Oh, My God, you're right, Sam will never forgive us, I can't believe I thought something so disgusting about her, it's the least feminist thing I've ever thought!-. And she also started apologizing to me:
-I'm really sorry that Yasmine put that weed in your backpack, it was mine, and I'm sorry that I almost bumped into you the other day-.
When she finally finished whining, I just told her:
-It's ok, and I'm sorry for hit your car-. And I leave.
From that day on, the coward Kyler began to hide, I think even from his friends, everyone began to say that Miguel had learned that from that "cobra kai" dojo and they wanted to join there, I even heard that Eli insisted to Demetri to for the two to come together, I had seen how the dojo had become more crowded at that time; For my part, I tried not to pay attention to them, I had my yoga classes and that was fine. A couple of days later I had received a message from my instructor saying that "the twilight had moved cosmically to the south", which (probably) meant that the class would show up a little earlier than usual. (And, yes, I also had a hard time understanding that woman sometimes). I arrived at the dojo as I always did, at 3 p.m. but this time it was empty, although the door was open (I wasn't surprised, since that guy was so busy drinking that he must have forgotten to lock with keys), so I went in, I didn't think there would be any problem. I had my speakers, so I put on some music to meditate and warm up until the others arrived. I played one of my favorite eighties songs, one that reminded me of my mother, and one that was calm enough so that no one would complain that I was disturbing their peace. I started doing some "rhythmic warm-up" like my mom had taught me at home, a mix between dance and meditation.
Suddenly, I heard the door open. I didn't worry because it was surely the instructor, ready to hang her cute poster on the wall. But I had to stop immediately when I saw that the one who had entered was that beer' guy, along with Miguel:
-Ann?-.
