Me: I can't really think of anything snarky to say here, so yeah let's just start the chapter
Brock: Chapter 4-Clefairy and the Moon Stone!
The Pokegang are walking along Route 3. Since leaving Pewter City they have encountered a couple of trainers who kept harrassing them for battles.
"Why are there so many trainers just hanging around this route?" Ash asks confused.
"You find they're probably trying to train up before they make the trip through Mt. Moon." Brock answers him
"Mt. Moon. That name sounds so romantic." Misty adds in
"Is Mt. Moon full of tough Pokemon or something?" Ash asks curious
"Not really but there are plenty of caves and tunnels in between and if you're not careful it can be easy to get lost or turned around. Unfortunately if you're travelling by foot then it's the only way to get onto Route 4." Brock answers
"I heard from some trainers that Mt. Moon has alot of Clefairy." Alex mentions
"That's true. There are stories that millions of years ago a giant meteorite fell from outer space and brought Clefairy along with them. Apparently this meteorite is somewhere deep in Mt. Moon and the Clefairy are drawn to it."
"But don't Clefairy evolve from Cleffa? Where do they fit in with that story?" Misty asks confused.
"I did say it was a story. There usually tends to be some holes in these kind of things." Brock shrugs.
"Well whether they're aliens or not doesn't matter! They're still Pokemon which means I can catch them!" Ash pumps his fist excitedely, "Let's go!"
He starts running forward when a Sandshrew suddenly leaps out from the grass and scratches him across the face.
"Aaah!"
Pika!
"Ash are you ok?" Misty asks
"Yeah I'm fine. I'm gonna catch this Sandshrew!"
Sandshrew!
Sandshrew suddenly runs off
"Wait come back Sandshrew!" Ash chases after Sandshrew
"Ash wait!"
Pikapi!
Misty and Pikachu chase after Ash. Alex and Brock start chasing after them when some white powder suddenly gets released into the air. The two start coughing as they breathe it in
"What is this?" Brock asks drowzily
Alex notices some Paras hiding the grass, they are the ones releasing the powder
"It's...the Paras...must be Spore..."
The two pass out.
Ash has managed to corner Sandshrew near the entrance to Mt. Moon
"You're not getting away Sandshrew! Go Pidgeotto!"
Pidgeo!
Sandshrew slams it's claws into the ground. When it pulls them back out they are covered in mud which it then tosses towards Pidgeotto...who just flies further into the air dodging it.
"Ok Pidgeotto use Gust!"
Pidgeotto flaps it's wings causing some strong wind to slam into Sandshrew
Sandshrew!
"Now Quick Attack!"
Pidgeotto speeds forward hitting Sandshrew. The Mouse Pokemon tries to Scratch Pidgeotto but the Bird is quicker.
"Ok now Pidgeotto finish it off with Air Cutter!"
Pidgeotto flaps it's wings and crosses them creating some strang wind shaped like a blade which strike Sandshrew
Shrew!
Sandshrew falls to the ground. Ash pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it at Sandshrew
wiggle wiggle wiggle ping
"Alright I caught Sandshrew!"
Pidgeotto!
He hears running behind him and turns to see Misty and Pikachu. The two stop and pant
"I..am...gonna...kill...you...Ash...Ketchum!" Misty yells at him
Pika...Chu!
"Sorry sorry. But look I caught Sandshrew."
"Well...done...now I need to rest a bit."
Misty and Pikachu both flop down. Ash calls out Sandshrew who looks around confused
Sandshrew?
Ash scans it
Sandshrew the Mouse Pokemon. A Ground type. It burrows into the ground to create its nest. If hard stones impede its tunneling, it uses its sharp claws to shatter them and then carries on digging. Sandshrew evolve into Sandslash. This Sandshrew is Male
Ash returns Sandshrew and Pidgeotto
"Hey where are Alex and Brock?" Ash asks
Alex is slowly awakened by someone shaking him. He opens his eyes and sees a young man with big round glasses kneeling over him
"Oh good you're ok. I was very concerned." The man tells him
"I'm sorry mister but-"
"Never call me mister! I am Seymour! Seymour the Scientist!"
"Uh ok?" Alex sits up and looks over at Brock, "Is my friend alright?"
"Oh yes he's still sleeping however. I heard him mumble something about beautiful girls and I thought it best not to disturb him." Seymour replies
"That was nice of you." Alex smacks Brock over the head with his baseball bat
"Aaaaah!" Brock hops to his feet
"Good you're up."
"Uh excuse me but who are you?" Brock asks confused
"My name is Seymour the Scientist. I work at the Pewter City Museum of Science."
"Oh yeah now that you mention it I have seen you around before." Brock replies
"What are you doing out here?" Alex asks confused
"I heard that the Pokemon inside of Mt. Moon were acting strangely so I headed down here to investigate. I suspect it may have something to do with the Moon Stone."
"Moon Stone? You mean those tiny rocks that are used to evolve certain Pokemon?" Alex asks
"No no this is the actual Moon Stone. A giang meteorite that fell from space and brought the Clefairy to our world. Those little rocks are merely chips that fell off during the meteorite's journey."
"Oh." Alex replies unconvinced
"What do you mean about the Pokemon acting strangely?" Brocks asks
"Apparently the Pokemon have become more violent lately. They attack anyone who gets too close to Mt. Moon. It's almost like they don't want anyone entering." Seymour replies
"Are you sure they're just not being territorial?" Brock asks
"Yes. Something very strange is going on."
"We were attacked by those Paras. And that Sandshrew did lunge at Ash...maybe there is something to this." Alex adds
"Well then we'll help you investigate. But first we need to find our friends." Brock tells Seymour.
"Marvellous. Onwards to Mt. Moon!"
Ash, Misty and Pikachu have been waiting outside the entrance to Mt. Moon when Ash notices something pink slipping inside the cave
"I think I just saw a Clefairy!"
"Where?" Misty asks confused
"Inside. Come on let's go check."
"Are you crazy? What if we get lost?"
"It will just be for a few minutes Misty. We won't even go too far from the entrance."
"Alright fine."
The three of them head inside the cave...which surprisingly is very bright thanks to all of the lights strung around the place
"Who put all these lights up?" Ash asks confused
"They're hurting my eyes." Misty moans

"Hahahahaha!"
Ash, Misty and Pikachu look around alarmed
"What was that?"
Jessie: Prepare for trouble!
James: Make it double!
Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!
James: To unite all peoples within our nation!
Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James: To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie: Jessie!
James: James!
Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
James: Surrender now, or prepare to fight!
Meowth: Meowth! That's right!
"Oh great it's you three again." Misty says
"We can't let you twerps interfere!" Jessie yells
"Interfere in what?" Ash asks confused
"In the top secret Team Rocket mission taking place inside Mt. Moon!" James yells
"Yes we have been given strict instructions to not let anyone pass through! Prepare for battle!"
Jessie and James toss their pokeballs and Ekans and Koffing come out
"You ready Pikachu?"
Pika!
"Let's go Staryu!"
Hiya!
Alex, Brock and Seymour are approaching the entrance of Mt. Moon when they hear flapping wings. Lots of them
"Something is coming."
A bunch of Zubat fly out of the cave and attack them
"Zubat!" Seymour yells. Brock pulls out a pokeball and tosses it
"Onix go!"
"Charmander go!"
Rarrrr!
Charmander Char!
The two Pokemon start fighting off the Zubat. Brock pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it hitting one of the Zubat and capturing it. Alex notices some of the Paras from earlier sneaking up on them
"Not this time. Charmander use Flamethrower on the Paras!"
Charmander!
Charmander fires the Flamethrower knocking out all of the Paras. Alex pulls out a Pokeball and tosses it sucking one of the Paras in
wiggle wiggle ding
Alex and Brock pick up their respective pokeballs
"Alright there is definitely something strange going on here." Brock admits
"We need to explore further in." Seymour replies
"Hang on. I want to scan these Pokemon first."
Paras the Mushroom Pokemon. A Bug/Grass type. Paras has parasitic mushrooms growing on its back called tochukaso. They grow large by drawing nutrients from this Bug Pokémon host. They are highly valued as a medicine for extending life. Paras evolves into Parasect. This Paras is Female.
Zubat the Bat Pokemon. A Poison/Flying type. Makes its home in gloomy caves. Atrophied eyes have left this Pokémon blind, so it scans its surroundings via sound waves that it emits from its mouth as it flies. Zubat evolves into Golbat. This Zubat is Male
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachuuuu!
Pikachu fires the Thunderbolt hitting Team Rocket and sending them blasting off
"Aaaaah!" They scream
"Well that was easy. What were they talking about though?" Misty wonders
"I don't know, but I doubt it's anything good." Ash replies
Alex, Brock and Seymour run up to them
"There you guys are. We've been looking for you."
The five of them, plus Pikachu, have been travelling through Mt. Moon, occasionally battling any wild Pokemon that attack them. Seymour has been leading them through all the tunnels thanks to his expert knowledge on the mountain
"No doubt whatever it is that Team Rocket is up to, is what is messing with all the Pokemon." Seymour says
"Well we need to stop them." Ash says
Clefairy Clefairy
"Everyone ssssh! It's some Clefairy." Seymour points ahead of them. They can see a couple of Clefairy heading through a secret tunnel.
"I bet that's where they hid the Moon Stone!" Seymour chases after them
"Seymour wait!" The rest of the group chase after Seymour. They enter into a chamber which has a giant rock in the middle. The Clefairy are busy chipping chunks off of it. The top of the chamber is open allowing for the full moon to shine on the rock which sparkles. But the most surprising thing is the Hypno sitting on top of the rock, and the Team Rocket grunts who are taking the chunks from the Clefairy and putting them into bags
"Keep it up men! We'll be able to sell these Moon Stones and makes millions!" The head grunt says. "Hypno do not let control of the Pokemon slip you understand!"
Hypno
Seymour is about to say something when Brock quickly covers his mouth. They hide.
"It seems that Hypno is controlling all of the Pokemon." Brock says softly
"So if we take out the Hypno that will free the others." Ash says
"But what about the other Team Rocket grunts? How are we supposed to deal with them?" Misty asks
"I have a plan. I'll handle Hypno and his trainer, you guys distract everyone else ok." Alex tells them
"Yeah ok...wait-"
"Over here!" Alex yells before slipping away. The Grunts have been alerted to the intruders
"Don't just stand there! Get them!" The head grunt yells. The grunts charge towards Ash and the others
"Uh Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu attacks the Grunts
"Useless. Ok use Hypnosis on that-oof" The head grunt falls over after being smacked over the head by Alex's baseball bat. Hypno looks arond confused, unsure what to do. Alex picks up the pokeball off the head grunt's belt and stomps on it shattering it and releasing Hypno.
Hypno
Hypno immediately releases it's control over the Clefairy and the rest of the Pokemon throughout Mt. Moon.
Clefairy? Clefairy
"We did it!" Ash shouts excitedly. Hypno scratches it's head and hops off from the Moon Stone. It heads over to Alex
"Uh yeah sorry about that. I kinda just winged it." Alex shrugs. Hypno kicks it's unconscious trainer.
"Must have been a bastard. Hey do you want to come along with me?" Alex asks curiously. Hypno nods and touches one of Alex's pokeballs sucking itself in.
"Everything seems to be going back to normal." Seymour replies.
"Uh what are we gonna do about all these unconscious Team Rocket members?" Misty asks.
"I'll call Officer Jenny." Seymour replies. Suddenly the ground starts shaking and a giant drilling machine bursts out.
"What the-"
Jessie, James and Meowth hop out from the machine
"We're not done just yet!" Jessie yells
"Yeah this plan might have failed but we're still gonna steal that Moon Stone!" James yells
"Uh who's the cute girl and her friend?" Brock asks confused
"Jessie and James. They've been following us since Viridian." Misty replies
Clefairy Clefairy
All the Clefairy suddenly surround Team Rocket. They are wagging their fingers back and forth
"Um what are they doing?" Meowth asks confused
"I don't know but I can't seem to look away." James replies moving his head along with the Clefairy
"It's almost hypnotising" Jessie replies
"Everyone step back, The Clefairy are using Metronome." Seymour replies
The Pokegang step back. The Clefairy stop moving their fingers which glow white...and then a massive explosion goes off.
"Aaaaaah!" Team Rocket are sent flying into the air
"Team Rocket's blasting off...again!" They yell
Clefairy
"Wow I have never seen Clefairy use Metronome before." Seymour says excitedly
"Uh guys the leader dude is gone." Alex points out
"He must have snuck away while we were watching the Clefairy." Brock replies
The Clefairy all gather around the Moon Stone and start jumping around it. They start chanting and a few of them touch it. They start glowing and evolve into Clefable
"Wow" Ash says
"It's beautiful." Misty says
The Pokegang have exited Mt. Moon and are now heading along Route 4. Alex takes a look at the Pokedex entry on Hypno
Hypno the Hypnosis Pokemon. A Psychic type. Hypno holds a pendulum in its hand. The arcing movement and glitter of the pendulum lull the foe into a deep state of hypnosis. While this Pokémon searches for prey, it polishes the pendulum. Hypno is the evolved form of Drowzee
"I'm glad we ran into Seymour. We probably wouldn't have made it out so quickly without him." Alex says
"Yeah now we go to Cerulean City!" Ash says
"Cerulean City! What are you going there for!" Misty suddenly yells out in shock. Everyone looks at her
"There's a Pokemon gym." Ash replies
"Oh you don't want to go to Cerulean City. It's so plain and boring and the gym's not even a proper gym. Hey how about we go to Vermillion City instead! They also have a gym and lots of cool Pokemon and there's also this little park way up on the hill where you can sit and watch the sunset that's so romantic." Misty says with her eyes closed and her hands grasped together. She kind of just stays like that for a bit
"Uh Misty are you ok?" Ash asks
"Sorry I got caught up in my daydream. So how about it Ash? It's much better than Cerulean City huh?"
"Sure we'll go." Ash replies
"Really?" Misty asks happily
"Right after we're done in Cerulean City." Ash replies causing Misty to fall over. Ash and Brock carry on walking along. Alex helps Misty up
"Thanks Alex."
"So tell me. Why don't you want to go to Cerulean City?" Alex asks
"What? No I don't care I just-"
"Stop. I can tell you're hiding something. You can tell me. I won't tell Ash." Alex replies
"Ugh fine. I live in Cerulean City." Misty admits, "I'm...not really looking forward to going home."
"What!" Ash yells out ahead of them. "Why that Gary! I'll show him!"
Ash runs off down the path. Misty and Alex head over to Brock who is standing infront of a sign
"What's up with Ash?" Misty asks confused
"Well he looked at this writing on the sign and it made him upset." Brock replies.
Alex examines the message that was left on the sign
GARY WAS HERE! ASH IS A LOSER!
Meanwhile a large man with spiky black hair, wearing a Team Rocket uniform, is calling Team Rocket's boss, Giovanni.
"The police busted our operation in Mt. Moon sir. We managed to get some of the Moon Stones and Pokemon off before they arrived."
"Very well. That was ultimately only a temporary location so it's not a massive loss. How about your team? Did anyone of them make it out?" Giovanni asks
"Only one sir. He managed to sneak away but his Pokemon was taken from him."
"Alright. I'll contact you once I have need of you again Andrew." Giovanni ends the call

Alex: So we're just glossing over the fact that I stole someone's Pokemon huh?
