Lucy stretched her arms up in relief as the two finally exited the front side of the building. It'd be several hours at this point, and they were both ready to be done for the day. Despite Cobra asking if she needed to take a break, Lucy insisted on plowing through the rest of the people in line.
"What a time…who knew it would get so busy all of a sudden?"
Cobra grunted. "Not like most of them seemed like they had anything better to do."
"Some of them did seem genuinely in need of some advice though. Like that one guy…Piper, you said his name was? He seemed nearly in tears when I told him it didn't seem like it would work out."
"As I recall, you got mad at me for suggesting that we tell him it was all a 'pipe dream'."
"That would've been mean…accurate, but mean."
"Oh, so you did agree with me."
His smug reply earned him a punch in the arm. It was so light he simply pretended not to notice.
"And some of them were a bit more complicated than you like to give them credit for."
"You mean like the one where the guy brought the girl he was talking about with him and then went on about the situation right in front of her? Yeah, that was real hard to figure out."
"Well, not all of us can read minds." She stuck out her tongue, half playful, half mocking. Cobra had to bite his own to shut down his own witty retort.
A/N: Once again, Piper is yellowchikadee's OC! Thank you for letting me use him! If you don't get the joke, look back and see what the girl's name was that he was talking about.
