James: Chapter 10-Beach Day in Porta Vista
Ash,Pikachu,Krabby,Squirtle,Alex,Paras,Vaporeon and Brock are playing with a beach ball in the ocean. Ash,Brock,Squirtle and Pikachu are on one team while Alex,Krabby,Paras and Vaporeon are on the other. Bulbasaur is laying around while the two Charmander are chasing each other on the shore.
Ash hits the ball hard and it flies over Alex's head towards Krabby
"Get it Krabby!" Alex yells
Krabby sticks it's pincer out to try and hit the ball and predictably pops it.
"Aww. I demand we switch teams." Alex says annoyed
"Hey we drawed straws fair and square." Ash says
"I'm the only one here who can stand on two legs!" Alex moans, "And I'm the only one with hands!"
"I'm willing to switch teams." Brock says
"No Brock he's just trying to manipulate you. He's always like this when it comes to sport." Ash says
Alex picks up the ruined ball, "So who's gonna fetch a new beach ball?"
Coo-ki Coo-ki
"There you guys are!" They hear Misty's voice. She heads over to them holding a beach ball, "I thought you were gonna wait for me by the snack bar."
Everyone stares at her. She's changed into her swimming costume
"What's wrong?" Misty asks
"Nothing." Ash says
"It's just weird seeing you look like a girl." Alex says
Misty's face goes red
"Oh yeah! Well see how weird this looks!" She throws her beach ball at fullforce hitting Alex in the face
"Aaah!"
Team Rocket is spying on them from their Gyarados Submarine
"This is the perfect time to swipe Pikachu." Meowth says
Jessie groans, "Do we have to? It's so hot today and the water looks so refreshing. Can't we just take a day off?"
"Absolutely not! We are proud members of Team Rocket!" Meowth yells
"But Meowth we can always steal Pikachu another day, but who knows how long the twerps are gonna stay at the beach? This might be our only chance for a vacation." James says
"I uh...alright you've convinced me!" Meowth says
Something suddenly bangs against the submarine causing it to rock
"What was that?" Jessie asks
James peaks out and sees a Seaking ramming it's horn against them
"It's a Seaking. It must think we're a real Gyarados."
"If it doesn't stop that it might damage the submarine!" Meowth yells
"Relax I'll handle this." Jessie says. She takes a deep breath and exits the submarine. Seaking sees her and starts swimming towards her. Jessie tosses a pokeball which hits Seaking and sucks it in.

The Pokegang are now just relaxing near the shore.
"You know after the stress of the last few days this is exactly what we needed." Misty says
"Yeah it's nice to just take a day off and not worry about anything." Brock says
They hear a Megahorn siren
"Registration for the Porta Vista Beauty Contest will be closing in ten minutes!"
Misty's eyes start sparkling, "A Beauty Contest!"
She hops to her feet excitedly, "I need to go register!"
Ash looks at her confused, "Huh?"
Misty suddenly grabs his hand and drags him with her, "Come on Ash!"
"Why are you taking me along?" He shouts confused
"I wonder what's up with them?" Brock asks only to notice Alex has vanished. He sighs, "Guess it's just us huh Pikachu?"

Alex heads over to a stand with a long line. People are signing their names onto a sheet
"Excuse me what's going on?" Alex asks
"Hmm oh we're signing up for the Tournament." The trainer, a young girl close to Misty's age who has long black hair and green eyes, says
"Tournament? What tournament?" Alex asks
"Don't tell me you haven't heard of The Elemental League?" The girl asks surprised. Alex shakes his head
"Well it's an independent league that is hosted yearly in a different region. It's all about trainers who specialize in specific Pokemon types. The way to enter is to win badges from different type specific tournaments held all across the region. This year's taking place in Kanto." The girl says
"That's interesting. So this is one of those tournaments?" Alex asks
"Yep this is a Water type tournament so you're only allowed to use Water Pokemon. If you win the tournament you earn a badge and you need three badges to qualify for the League." The girl says
"That's really interesting. Excuse me I have to go find my friends." Alex runs off. He's in such a rush that he accidentally runs into someone
"Ouch!" They both fall to the ground
"Watch where you're going!" A familiar voice yells at him. Alex's eyes widen and he turns and sees Gary who is being helped up by one of his cheerleaders
"Gary!" Alex shouts shocked. Gary looks over at him surprised
"Alex? Well isn't this a surprise!" Gary helps him up
"What are you doing here?" Alex asks
"I'm on vacation. I can take that luxury seeing as I'm the greatest Pokemon trainer of all time." Gary brags
"When it comes to your ego yeah." Alex replies
"What are you doing here though? Shouldn't you be getting badges, or did you give up already?" Gary asks
"For your information I'm signing up to participate in a tournament." Alex says, "I was just on my way to find Ash and-"
"Ashy's here!" Gary starts laughing, "No wonder you're so clueless if you're still following that loser around"
Alex grips his baseball bat, "Say that again."
Gary looks at the bat, "I'm surprised you still have that. I could have sworn you told me you were gonna burn it."
"The bat did nothing wrong Gary. It was the one who gave it to me that's the jerk." Alex replies
"You're the one who ended our friendship. From where I'm standing that makes you the jerk." Gary says
"Talking to you is a waste of time." Alex turns and starts walking away, "Smell ya later Gary."
Gary glares at him, "Let's go girls."
Team Rocket are reading a brochure advertising the water tournament
"I bet the winner gets a lot of prize money." James says
"We need to enter!" Jessie shouts
"But Jess it says here that you need two Water Pokemon to enter. You only have one." Meowth says
"That's why you two are gonna go out and get me another one!" Jessie yells at them
"Right!" James and Meowth run off
Misty is still dragging poor Ash around, however this time it's out of anger instead of excitement
"What do they mean I'm underage! I'm way more beautiful than any of those old hags!"
"Can you please stop tugging on my arm? You're gonna pull it out of it's socket at this rate." Ash pleads
Misty lets go of him
"Why are you so mad about this? It's just a bunch of people walking up and down a ramp?" Ash asks confused
"It's more than that! I am an internationally known beauty! I deserve recognition!"
"'Internationally known?' You told me you basically just left home. How can you be internationally known?"
"You're not helping! Just agree with me!" Misty yells at him
"Uh those judges are completely unfair. You definitely deserved to win first place." Ash says quickly
"I know! Come on let's go back to Brock and the others." Misty says
Gary's car suddenly drives past and parks right in front of them
"There you are Ashy!" Gary yells
"It can't be!" Ash yells shocked
"What is it? Do you know him Ash?" Misty asks confused
"That's Gary!"
Gary hops out of the car, "The one and only. I am Gary Oak! Pallet Town's number one Pokemon trainer and future Pokemon Master!"
"Gary! Gary! He's the best! He absolutely beats the rest!" His cheerleaders cheer
Ash and Misty just stare at them dumbfounded
"I'm starting to understand you more now." Misty says to Ash
"And who's your beautiful friend Ash?" Gary asks
"I can speak for myself. My name is Misty Waterflower." Misty says
"Misty that's a lovely name. And your surname sounds familiar, are you the younger sister of the Cerulean City gym leaders?" Gary asks
"Yeah I am." Misty says
"I can see the resemblance. Why are you hanging out with a loser like Ash when you could be hanging out with someone like me!"
"Loser!" Ash suddenly gets close to Gary, "That's it I challenge you to a battle!"
"I'd love to but I didn't bring any of my Pokemon. Besides battling you would be a waste of time." Gary says
"I'll show you!" Ash is about to punch Gary but Misty places her hand on his shoulder
"Ash he's just trying to rile you up." Misty says
"Well it's working!"
Gary starts laughing
"Oh you are pathetic. Why Alex and Leaf choose to hang out with you I'll never understand!"
Ash glares at him, "Because they're my friends. I thought you were once too."
"Who needs friends? They just hold you back." Gary hops into his car. "Smell ya later Ashy-boy!"
Gary drives away blowing some sand into Ash and Misty's faces
"Aah!"
The two of them have reunited with Brock and Alex
"He really is a massive jerk." Misty says
"He wasn't always like that." Ash says, "I mean he always had an ego but we used to all be good friends."
"So what happened between you guys?" Brock asks curiously
"He just started getting worse as we got older." Alex says
"He started treating everyone like they were beneath him, and because he's Professor Oak's grandson no one ever said anything." Ash says
"Those cheerleaders definitely didn't help." Alex says annoyed, "In their eyes Gary is perfect, so Gary believes he is perfect."
Ash sighs, "I miss when we used to be friends. Now it's just constant fighting whenever we run into each other."
"Alright enough thinking about Gary! Let's not let him ruin our day!" Alex shouts, "We have a tournament to prepare for!"
Ash, Alex and Misty are now training their Pokemon for the tournament. Misty has gone out in a small boat and her Water Pokemon are training in the ocean
"Alright Goldeen use Horn Attack!"
Goldeen dives under the water and heads towards Staryu. At the last second Staryu dodges avoiding the attack

"What was that?" Misty looks around and spots a Horsea being attacked by multiple Tentacool
"That Horsea's in trouble! Goldeen Staryu Starmie go!"
Goldeen, Staryu and Starmie swim towards them and attack the Tentacool. They manage to faint one and drive the rest away

Misty swims over to them
"Are you ok Horsea?" Misty asks
Horsea nods and rubs it's head against Misty's hand before swimming away. Misty looks over at the knocked out Tentacool and tosses a pokeball at it
"So did you get it?" Jessie asks
"Yes we found the perfect Water Pokemon for you Jessie." James says
"It will blow all da others away!" Meowth says and they hand her a pokeball
"Good. With Seaking and this mysterious Pokemon there's no way I'll lose!"
"Hi" They jump in fright and see Alex watching them
"It's the twerp!"
"What are you guys plotting?" Alex asks
"For the record we are legally entering this Pokemon tournament with Pokemon that we legally own." Jessie says
"Wait you guys are entering?" Alex asks surprised
"Well Jessie is. Meowth and I are cheering her on." James replies
"Well good luck. You're gonna need it against my Pokemon." Alex reaches for a pokeball
"Why? Which Pokemon are you using?" Jessie asks
Alex pulls out a familiar golden pokeball. Team Rocket scream and run off
"See you tomorrow!" Alex waves goodbye
The next day people have gathered for the tournament. The battlefield is two platforms floating in the ocean with a large amount of water between them. Chairs have been provided for the crowd to sit on. Brock is near the front of the crowd with Pikachu and Oddish

Ash, Alex, Misty, Jessie and twelve other trainers are lined up.
"Welcome everyone to the Porta Vista Water Tournament!" The Announcer shouts into his microphone, "Today we have sixteen talented trainers all competing in order to win one of our Elemental badges! The matches for the first round have all been decided!"
The announcer points to a giant board which shows the matchups. Neither Jessie or the Pokegang are battling each other yet.
"For the Preliminary Round the trainers may only use a single Pokemon each! Starting from the Quarterfinal round onwards they will switch to two Pokemon! Now may the first two competitors please step onto their respective platforms!"
"I guess I'm up." Ash heads over to his platform while his opponent heads over to the opposite. A referee is floating on a smaller third platform a little bit away from the other two.
"Both trainers send out your Pokemon!" The referee yells
"I choose Krabby!" Ash tosses his pokeball
"Go Slowpoke!" The other trainer yells

"The west trainer Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town is using a Krabby! The east trainer Declan from Commerce City is using a Slowpoke!" The Announcer shouts
Ash quickly pulls out his Pokedex and scans Slowpoke
Slowpoke the Dopey Pokemon. A Water/Psychic type. Incredibly slow and dopey. It takes 5 seconds for it to feel pain when under attack. Slowpoke will evolve into Slowbro if a Shellder bites onto it's tail. Slowpoke will evolve into Slowking if a Shellder bites onto it's head while it is wearing a King's Rock. This Slowpoke is Female
"Wow symbiosis!" Ash says amazed
"I'm surprised he knows what that means." Misty says
"So am I" Alex admits
"Battle begin!" The Referee yells
"Slowpoke use Zen Headbutt!" Declan yells
Psychic energy glows around Slowpoke's head and it swims towards Krabby
"Krabby use Metal Claw!" Ash yells
Krabby's claw glows metallic and as soon as Slowpoke gets close it swings it's claw smacking Slowpoke headfirst. Slowpoke stops in it's tracks and the psychic energy disappears

"Slowpoke what's the matter?" Declan asks confused
Slowpoke rubs her head...and then faints
"What!" Declan yells shocked
Ash, Alex, Misty, Brock and Pikachu are equally shocked
"Slowpoke is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Ash!" The referee yells
"What a spectacle! Ash's Krabby was able to take Slowpoke out in one hit!" The Announcer yells
"Wow Krabby I didn't know you were so strong." Ash says stunned

Alex and Misty also defeat their opponents quickly using Vaporeon and Staryu respectively. The last match of the Preliminary rounds is now Jessie vs Kane
"Seaking finish it off with Poison Jab!" Jessie yells
"Dewgong look out!" Kane yells
Seaking rushes forward and jams it's horn into Dewgong's side

"Dewgong is unable to battle! The winner of the battle is Jessie!" The referee announces
"Yeah Jessie did it!" James cheers
"Go Jessie!" Meowth yells
"You know when they're not battling us, Team Rocket is surprisingly competent." Alex says
"When did Jessie even catch a Seaking?" Ash asks confused
"It must have been recent considering what happened at the SS Anne and everything." Misty says
"That is all the matches for the Preliminary Rounds. We will now give the trainers five minutes to rest before we begin the Quarterfinal Rounds!" The Announcer yells
The matches for the Quarterfinals have been set up:

Misty vs Lee
Alex vs Stacy
"May the first two trainers step onto the battlefield!"
Ash and Eden head over. Alex and Misty are watching from the sidelines
"Oh it's you." They hear a female voice. They look over and see the girl that Alex spoke to yesterday
"Oh hey." Alex says, "I'm assuming you're Stacy?"
"That's right. We didn't get to properly introduce ourselves yesterday since you ran off so quickly." Stacy says
"Sorry I was in a bit of a rush." Alex says sheepishly
"It's alright. Is this your friend?" Stacy asks
"Yeah I'm Misty nice to meet you." Misty says
"Your Starmie seems really powerful." Stacy says
"Thanks. Your Cloyster also seems quite powerful." Misty says
"Thank you."
"I noticed your Cloyster's shell looked different to normal Cloyster. Why is that?" Alex asks
"Hmm oh I'm from the Orange Archipelago." Stacy says, "A lot of the Pokemon there look different to Pokemon here." Stacy says
"Wow really. That's amazing!" Misty says
"Now that you mention it I do remember seeing something like that when my dad and I visited Shamouti Island." Alex says
"You've really just been everywhere haven't you?" Misty asks Alex
"Not really. I just have more travel experience than you guys." Alex says
"So how come you're travelling through Kanto?" Misty asks Stacy
"My goal is to become a Water Pokemon master." Stacy says
"Mine too!" Misty says excitedly, "Don't you just find Water Pokemon to be so cute and beautiful?"
"Yeah! Especially Tentacool they're so cuddly." Stacy says equally excited as Misty
"Oh Tentacool and Tentacruel are some of my favourite Pokemon! I call the red spot on their head 'The Ruby of the Sea'"
"That's such a fitting name for it."
Alex groans
"Water Pokemon are so amazing." Misty says
"What about Gyarados?" Alex asks causing Misty's eyes to widen
"Don't remind me."
"Oh I love Gyarados." Stacy says
"See Misty it is normal." Alex grins at her
"Nothing about you is normal Alex."
"The winner of the match is Ash!" They hear the referee yell
"Alright nice going Squirtle!" Ash yells

Ash heads over to join his friends while Jessie and her opponent get onto the platform
"May both trainers send out their first Pokemon!" The referee shouts
"Seaking go!" Jessie yells

Damien grabs a pokeball, "Go Lanturn!"
"What Pokemon is that?" Ash asks surprised
"I've never seen that before." Alex says
"That's a Lanturn from the Johto region." Stacy says
"Lanturn?" Ash pulls out his Pokedex to scan it
Lanturn the Light Pokemon. A Water/Electric type. Lanturn's light can shine up from great depths. It is nicknamed "The Deep-Sea Star." Lanturn is the evolved form of Chinchou. This Lanturn is Female
"Go Jessie go!" James and Meowth cheer
"Seaking use Poison Jab!" Jessie yells and Seaking speeds towards Lanturn
"Lanturn use Electro Ball!" Damien shouts
Lanturn creates a ball of electricity from the orbs on it's antenna. It hurls the ball at Seaking htting the Pokemon

Even though the Electro Ball doesn't do too much damage the combination of the Water and Seaking's typing is enough to stop the Goldfish Pokemon in it's tracks
"Seaking are you ok?" Jessie yells worried
"Now Thunderbolt!" Damien yells
Lanturn fires a Thunderbolt hitting Seaking

Seaking faints
"Aaah!" Jessie yells shocked
"Seaking is unable to battle! East trainer send out your next Pokemon!" The Referee yells
Jessie returns Seaking and grabs her next pokeball
"You'll regret that! Now you face my ultimate weapon!"
James and Meowth glance at each other
"Uh oh."
Jessie tosses her pokeball and out pops...a Magikarp

Everyone just stares at it dumbfounded. Jessie's face turns red with rage and she turns towards the crowd
"YOU GOT ME A MAGIKARP!" She screams
James and Meowth hide
"Maybe she won't notice us..." James whispers
"Meowth..."
"Uh Lanturn use Thunderbolt?" Damien says confused
Lanturn!
And poor Magikarp faints
"Magikarp is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Damien!" The referee announces
"That was sad." Stacy says
"I almost feel sorry for her." Ash says
"May the next trainers please step forward." The Announcer says
"Oh I'm up." Misty starts heading forward
"Goodluck Misty." Ash says
Jessie has found James and Meowth in the crowd and is now strangling them
"It...was...the...only Pokemon we could find..."
"I choose Goldeen!" Lee shouts
"Go my steady!" Misty tosses a pokeball

Damien joins Ash,Alex and Stacy
"Hello." He says
"Oh hi" Ash says
"So are you guys new trainers?" Damien asks
"I'm not." Stacy says, "I've been travelling for about a year now."
"Alex and I are. We only started out about two to three weeks ago." Ash says
"Woah it really hasn't been that long." Alex says in realization, "We're making a lot of progress."
"Are you two entering the Pokemon League?" Damien asks
"Yeah we've already gotten three badges." Ash says off his badges
"Impressive. I'm entering as well. This is going to be my third Pokemon League." Damien says
"Third? Which ones did you enter before?" Ash asks curiously
"When I started my journey I participated in the Silver Conference in Johto, then I travelled to Hoenn for the Ever Grande Conference." Damien says
"So you've travelled quite a bit." Ash says impressed
"I'm sure you've got quite a few powerful Pokemon." Stacy says
"A couple. I don't like to overrely on them though so I try to use any of my newer Pokemon where I can." Damien says
"Is that why you didn't use any Johto Pokemon during the Preliminary round?" Alex asks
"Yeah I wasn't planning on using any of my old Pokemon for this tournament but when I got matched up against that woman and her Seaking I thought it was better to just use Lanturn." Damien says
"Your Lanturn is very beautiful." Stacy says
"Thanks. You know if you're interested I'm open to trading." Damien says
"Really? Yeah definitely!" Stacy says excitedly
"We can talk after the tournament." Damien says
"The winner of the match is Misty!" The referee shouts
"Yeah way to go Misty!" Ash cheers
"I guess we're up." Alex says
Him and Stacy head over to the platforms
"May both trainers send out their Pokemon!" The referee shouts
"Go Cloyster!" Stacy tosses her pokeball

"Go Gyarados!"
Rarrrrr!
"The west trainer has chosen Gyarados! The east trainer has chosen Cloyster! Battle begin!" The referee yells
"Gyarados use-" However Gyarados suddenly turns towards the crowd
Jessie is still throttling James and Meowth when she suddenly notices Gyarados is looking at them
"Uh James..."
"What's wrong Jessie?" James asks
"We may want to run!" She screams and Team Rocket start running. Gyarados rushes towards the crowd
"Gyarados what are you doing!" Alex yells
Rarrrr!
Gyarados prepares to fire a Hyper Beam
"Eveyone out of the way!" Brock yells and the crowd parts...leaving Team Rocket out in the open. The Hyper Beam hits them and sends them blasting off
"We didn't even do anything wrong this time!" They scream
The referee makes an X symbol with his arms
"In a shocking turn of events the west trainer has been disqualified!" The Announcer yells. Alex slumps to his knees
"We blew it."
Stacy just looks confused while Ash and Misty look embarrassed
"What was that about?" Damien asks
"Long story."
"We have reached the Semifinal Rounds!" The Announcer shouts, "Our final four participants are Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town! Damien Rowe from Alto Mare Island! Misty Waterflower from Cerulean City! Stacy King from Murcott Island!"

Stacy turns towards Misty, "Let's do our best Misty."
"Right." Misty says
Ash looks over at Damien a little nervous
Stacy and Misty are standing on their platforms. Stacy grabs her pokeball and tosses it
"Go Poliwrath!" Stacy yells and an Orange Islands Poliwrath pops out

"It's so cute!" Misty shouts
"Cute?" Alex asks Brock confused
"Don't think about it too hard." Brock replies
Ash pulls out his Pokedex and scans Poliwrath
Poliwrath the Tadpole Pokemon. A Water/Fighting type. Poliwrath's highly developed, brawny muscles never grow fatigued, however much it exercises. It is so tirelessly strong, this Pokémon can swim back and forth across the ocean without effort. Poliwrath is the evolved form of Poliwhirl. This Poliwrath is Male
"Now's as good a time as many. Go Tentacool!" Misty yells

"What? When did Misty catch a Tentacool?" Ash asks surprised
"Why are you asking me?" Damien asks him
"Sorry I'm used to Alex hovering around me." Ash says
He scans Tentacool
Tentacool a Jellyfish Pokemon. A Water/Poison type. Tentacool's body is largely composed of water. If it is removed from the sea, it dries up like parchment. If this Pokémon happens to become dehydrated, put it back into the sea. Tentacool evolves into Tentacruel. This Tentacool is Male
Alex closes his Pokedex having also scanned the Pokemon
"That's a smart move by Misty." Brock says
"How come?" Alex asks
"Fighting types don't do much damage to Poison types so by sending out Tentacool Misty is able to neutralize any fighting attacks that Poliwrath uses." Brock says
"It's a good thing she caught it then." Alex says
"The west trainer has chosen a Poliwrath! The east trainer has chosen a Tentacool! Battle Begin!" The referee yells
"Alright Poliwrath we can't use Fighting type moves so use Body Slam!" Stacy yells
Poliwrath swims through the water, when it gets close to Tentacool it leaps out and falls towards it
"Tentacool use Poison Jab!" Misty yells
Tentacool's tentacle glows pink and it raises it stabbing Poliwrath

Poliwrath suddenly grabs onto the tentacle
"Huh?" Misty asks confused
"Got you! Poliwrath use Ice Punch!" Stacy yells
"Oh no."
Poliwrath's fist becomes surrounded by icy blue energy and it hits Tentacool
Tentacool!
Tentacool is sent flying back and then a block of ice forms around it freezing it in place
"And Tentacool has been frozen solid by Poliwrath's Ice Punch! Could this be it for Tentacool!" The Announcer shouts
"Come on Tentacool you have to break out!" Misty yells
Tentacool however can't move
"Poliwrath use Hydro Pump!" Stacy yells
The swirls on Poliwrath's stomach starts glowing blue. A powerful stream of Water is fired from there and hits the frozen Tentacool
"Tentacool!" Misty yells
The ice shatters freeing Tentacool and revealing that it has fainted
"Tentacool is unable to battle! East trainer send out your next Pokemon!" The referee yells
Misty returns Tentacool and grabs her next pokeball, "Go my steady!"

"And Misty has chosen a Starmie! Will this Pokemon be able to turn things around for the young trainer!" The Announcer shouts
"Come on Misty!" Ash cheers
"Careful Poliwrath. Starmie is part Psychic type." Stacy says

"Starmie use Rapid Spin!" Misty yells and Starmie starts spinning and flies towards Poliwrath
"Catch it Poliwrath!" Stacy yells
Poliwrath sticks it's hands out and manages to grab onto Starmie. The Mysterious Pokemon continues spinning and Poliwrath struggles to keep it in place. Starmie manages to push through and slams into Poliwrath
Poliwrath!
Poliwrath is knocked backwards
"Now Swift!" Misty yells
Starmie stops spinning and fires a bunch of stars out of it's gem. The stars pelt Poliwrath
"Poliwrath!" Stacy yells
"Now finish it off with Psybeam!" Misty yells
Starmie fires the psychic energy beam straight at Poliwrath hitting it head on

Poliwrath faints
"Poliwrath is unable to battle! West trainer send out your next Pokemon!" The referee yells
Stacy returns Poliwrath, "Nice job Poliwrath. Alright go Cloyster!" Stacy yells
Cloyster
Cloyster and Starmie stare each other down
"Starmie use Hydro Pump!" Misty yells
"Cloyster counter with your own Hydro Pump!" Stacy yells
Starmie fires Hydro Pump out of it's gem while Cloyster fires it out of it's mouth. The two attacks hit each other causing a massive explosion of water.
"Water flying everywhere! We unfortunately cannot see what is happening at the moment!" The Announcer yells
The water field clears revealing that Starmie is spinning around Cloyster hitting it from each side
"And Starmie has gone on the attack! It seems young Misty has trained this Pokemon well!" The Announcer shouts
"Cloyster use Ice Beam!" Stacy yells
Cloyster fires a Beam of Ice out of it's mouth hitting Starmie and freezing it. Starmie plops into the water
"Starmie no!" Misty yells
"And once again Stacy manages to freeze Misty's Pokemon! Is this it? Will Misty be eliminated!" The Announcer screams
Starmie's gem starts flashing and the ice is suddenly surrounded by a pink glow
"Huh?" Stacy says confused
"Starmie?" Misty asks equally confused
The ice shatters with the shards flying everywhere. Starmie is covered by the same pink energy and the shards suddenly redirect towards Cloyster
"Cloyster Withdraw now!" Stacy yells
Cloyster shuts it's shell and the shards embed themselves into it
"Amazing! Despite being frozen Starmie was able to use it's Psychic powers to control the ice!" The Announcer shouts
"Woah Starmie's quite powerful." Alex says
"Alright Starmie this is our chance! Use Hyper Beam" Misty yells
Starmie's gem starts flashing again and orange energy forms near it
"Cloyster don't come out of your shell!" Stacy yells
Starmie fires the Hyper Beam hitting Cloyster
The attack is so powerful that it rips a hole through Cloyster's shell and hits the Pokemon
Cloyster!
Cloyster's shell opens revealing that it has fainted
"Cloyster is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Misty!" The referee yells
"Woohoo we did it!" Misty cheers
"Yeah! Way to go Misty!" Ash yells loudly
Alex and Brock are watching him
"I think Ash is more happy about Misty's win than Misty is." Alex says
Pikapi...
"Return Cloyster you did great." Stacy says
Misty and Stacy return to the shore and shake hands
"You did great Misty." Stacy says
"You put up a tough fight." Misty says
"I hope we get to battle again. Next time I'm gonna win."
Ash and Damien are getting ready to battle
"I choose you Squirtle!" Ash yells

Damien grabs a pokeball
"Go Lanturn!"
Lanturn
"The West trainer has chosen a Squirtle. The East trainer has chosen a Lanturn. Battle begin!" The referee yells
"Alright Squirtle Lanturn has access to Electric attacks so we have to move fast and hit hard! Use Rapid Spin!"
Squirtle withdraws into it's shell and spins forward striking Lanturn

"Now Bite!"
Squirtle pops out of it's shell and bites onto Lanturn

"Lanturn Thunderbolt now!" Damien yells
"Uh oh."
Lanturn fires a Thunderbolt shocking Squirtle. Squirtle lets go of Lanturn and screams before falling backwards into the water and getting shocked more. It faints
"Squirtle is unable to battle! West trainer send out your next Pokemon!" The referee yells
"I goofed! Return Squirtle." Ash says. He then grabs his next pokeball, "It's all up to you. Go Krabby!"
Coo-ki Coo-ki
"We've seen this Krabby's power before! But will it be able to handle Lanturn?" The Announcer asks
"Come on Ash! You can do it!" Misty yells
"Krabby use Mud Shot!" Ash yells
Krabby fires some mud out of it's mouth hitting Lanturn
Lanturn!
"Now leap out of the water and use Vise Grip!" Ash yells
Krabby leaps through the air and grabs onto Lanturn's antennae with it's claw. It starts squeezing and pulling on Lanturn

"Lanturn Flail and get it off!" Damien yells
Lanturn starts flailing around shaking Krabby. The River Crab Pokemon is thrown off and lands in the water
"Now Thunderbolt quick!" Damien yells
"Krabby no!" Ash yells
Lanturn fires a Thunderbolt hitting Krabby. The rest of the water sparks as well as the electricity travels through it
Coo-kiiiiii!
"Krabby!"
"Oh no!" Misty yells
The attack ends...but Krabby's still standing
"What? How!" Damien shouts surprised
"Amazing! Ash Ketchum's Krabby is so tough that it managed to maintain a powerful Thunderbolt in the water!" The Announcer yells
"Yeah go Krabby!" Alex shouts
"That little guy is much tougher than he looks." Brock says surprised
"Alright Krabby use Stomp!" Ash yells
Krabby jumps through the air and stomps onto Lanturn's head

Lanturn faints
"Lanturn is unable to battle! East trainer send out your next Pokemon!" The referee yells
Damien returns Lanturn. He grabs his next pokeball. This one looks a little older and damaged compared to the others
"Go Feraligatr!" Damien yells
Feraligatr!
"A Feraligatr" Brock says shocked
"That's related to the Johto starters right?" Alex asks
"Yeah it's the final form of Totodile, the Water starter." Brock says
Ash scans Feraligatr
Feraligatr the Big Jaw Pokemon. A Water type. When it bites with its massive and powerful jaws, it shakes its head and savagely tears its victim up. Feraligatr is the evolved form of Croconaw. This Feraligatr is Male
Feraligatr stares at Krabby and licks it's lips
Coo-ki
"We got this Krabby! Use Vise Grip!" Ash yells
Krabby leaps towards Feraligatr
"Bite Feraligatr!" Damien yells
Feraligatr chomps down on Krabby's claw
Coo-ki!
"Krabby use the other claw for Metal Claw!" Ash yells
Krabby's claw glows metallic and it tries to strike Feraligatr but Feraligatr suddenly opens it's mouth and bites that claw as well
"Aaah!" Ash yells

Feraligatr starts grinding it's teeth against Krabby's claws

Krabby thrashes around in pain, trying to break free
"Alright enough! Finish it off with Hydro Cannon!" Damien yells
Feraligatr throws Krabby into the air. It opens it's mouth wide and fires a powerful cannon of Water towards Krabby. It hits Krabby blowing it further into the sky and causing it to crash into the water hard and sink to the bottom. Krabby resurfaces a few seconds later fainted.
"Krabby is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Damien!" The referee yells
"Krabby return! You did great!" Ash says
Misty stares at the Feraligatr shocked, "I have to fight that?"
"Dang Feraligatr destroyed Krabby." Alex says shocked
"It must be extremely powerful." Brock says

Damien and Ash shake hands
"I'm gonna beat you next time." Ash says confidently
"You're confident. I like that." Damien grins
"Well we've reached the finals! Misty Waterflower will take on Damien Rowe! We will take a ten minute break before continuing!" The Announcer yells
"You ready Misty?" Ash asks
"Yeah we're gonna give it our best." Misty says determined
She heads out to the platform. Damien arrives at his one first.
"This is the final round of the Porta Vista Water tournament!" The Announcer yells
"May both trainers send out their Pokemon!" The referee yells
"Go my steady!" Misty yells and Goldeen appears

"Go Feraligatr!" Damien yells
Feraligatr!
"The West trainer has chosen a Goldeen! The East trainer has chosen a Feraligatr! Battle begin!" The referee yells
"YEAH LET'S GO MISTY!" Ash yells causing Alex,Brock,Pikachu and Oddish to cover their ears
"We're sitting right next to you Ash." Alex says annoyed
Feraligatr stares down at Goldeen. It licks it's lips

Goldeen dives under the water terrified
"Don't worry Goldeen you can win! Use Horn Attack!"
Goldeen swims towards Feraligatr and tries to stab it with her horn but Feraligatr swims to the side. Goldeen resurfaces
"Feraligatr use Slash!" Damien yells
Feraligatr's claws glow white and it slashes at Goldeen

"Goldeen use Supersonic!" Misty yells

Goldeen fires sound waves at Feraligatr. The Big Jaw Pokemon clutches it's head in agony
Feraligatr!
It starts slashing at the water in a rage
Feraligatr! Feraligatr!
"It seem Feraligatr has become confused! Will Goldeen be able to take advantage!" The announcer yells
"Goldeen Poison Jab now!" Misty yells
Goldeen swims closer, her horn starts glowing a pinkish purple colour, and she stabs Feraligatr
Gatr!
Feraligatr falls backwards. It resurfaces but is feeling weak. A purple hue has appeared under it's nose
"It appears Feraligatr has been poisoned! This may be exactly what Misty and Goldeen need!" The Announcer shouts
"Not so fast. Feraligatr go ahead and cure yourself." Damien says
Feraligatr suddenly pulls out a Pecha Berry it was hiding and swallows it in one bite. The purple hue disappears
"What?" Misty exclaims in shock
"That has to be against the rules or something?" Ash asks Brock confused
"No. Unless stated otherwise berries are perfectly legal as long as the Pokemon has it on them at the start of the battle." Brock says
"Huh. Maybe we should keep that in mind." Alex says
"Too much work."
"Now Feraligatr use Crunch!" Damien yells
"Goldeen dive now!" Misty yells
Goldeen dives under the water but Feraligatr follows. It chases after Goldeen who swims frantically to get away. However Feraligatr slowly gains on it and eventually manages to grab Goldeen around the tail. Goldeen struggles to get away and Feraligatr pulls her closer before chomping down on her.
Feraligatr resurfaces with the fainted Goldeen in it's mouth. It spits Goldeen out
"Goldeen is unable to battle! West trainer send out your last Pokemon!" The referee yells
Misty returns Goldeen and grabs her pokeball
"You're my only hope. Go Starmie!"
Hoo!
"And Misty chooses her powerful Starmie! We saw this Pokemon absolutely demolish Stacy's Cloyster but will it be enough for Feraligatr!" The Announcer screams into his microphone
"You can do it Misty!" Alex yells
"Alright Feraligatr let's finish this quickly. Use Crunch!" Damien yells
Feraligatr swims towards Starmie. Misty is about to give it a command when Feraligatr suddenly bites itself
"Feraligatr what are you doing?" Damien shouts in shock
Misty stares at it confused...then her eyes widen
"It's still confused! Starmie quick use Psybeam!" Misty yells
Starmie fires the psybeam hitting Feraligatr head on. Feraligatr is violently thrown across the battlefield with water flying all around. Damien's eyes widen when he sees Feraligatr is coming straight for him and he quickly dives into the water. Feraligatr goes past the platform
"Feraligatr has left the battlefield! East trainer send out your last Pokemon!" The referee yells
"What a stunning turn of events! Thanks to Goldeen's Supersonic from earlier and some quick thinking by Misty, Feraligatr has been eliminated!" The Announcer shouts
Damien gets back onto his platform. He returns Feraligatr
"Nice going. Feraligatr hasn't lost a battle in months now." Damien says impressed
"So are you gonna send your Lanturn out now?" Misty asks
"No I have a different Pokemon in mind." Damien grabs a Great Ball, "If you want to beat a Psychic type, you use a Dark type. Go Sharpedo!"
A pink coloured Sharpedo pops out of the Great Ball. The sun shines off of it

"What is that!" Ash shouts surprised
"Sharpedo. It's a Water type from Hoenn." Brock says
"It looks awesome!" Alex exclaims
They scan it
Sharpedo the Brutal Pokemon. A Water/Dark type. Nicknamed "the bully of the sea," Sharpedo is widely feared. Its cruel fangs grow back immediately if they snap off. Just one of these Pokémon can thoroughly tear apart a supertanker. Sharpedo is the evolved form Carvanha. This Sharpedo is Male
"It looks different." Ash says
"It must be a shiny Pokemon." Brock says, "For some reason certain Pokemon have different coloration to their usual forms. Shiny Pokemon are called that because they tend to shine a lot."
Sharpedo shines again
"I see."
"Alright Starmie we don't have to be afraid. Use Rapid Spin!" Misty yells
Starmie spins forward and slams into Sharpedo. Sharpedo is hit backwards but Starmie suddenly falls into the water
"Starmie what's wrong?" Misty shouts concerned
Starmie looks at it's fins which are scratched
"You may not want to touch Sharpedo." Damien says, "It's skin is rather rough."
(Now he tells me. Alright we'll need to try and keep our distance. Thankfully Starmie is a fast swimmer but I don't know if it's faster than that Sharpedo.)
"Alright Starmie use Minimize!" Misty yells
"Minimize? Interesting." Damien mutters
Starmie shrinks in size. While it is still visible it's much smaller than it once was
"Alright Sharpedo if it wants to be more evasive, then we just have to get faster. Use Agility!" Damien yells
Sharpedo starts swimming around rapidly. Starmie watches it. Sharpedo suddenly makes a turn and tries to slam into Starmie but the starfish leaps over it
"Psybeam now!" Misty yells
Starmie fires the Psybeam while right above Sharpedo. The attack hits Sharpedo and drives it under the water. Starmie lands back in the water

And is suddenly dragged down
"Starmie!"
Starmie is struggling to get free as Sharpedo has his teeth buried into it's legs. Starmie's gem starts flashing
Back on the surface everyone can hear the noise from the gem
"It seems Starmie might be close to finished!" The Announcer yells
"Starmie..."
The sky suddenly darkens as storm clouds appear from out of nowhere. They hear loud thunder
"What's going on?" Misty asks
A massive bolt of lightning suddenly strikes the spot where Starmie and Sharpedo is
Sharpedo lets go of Starmie in pain and Starmie quickly leaps up to the surface
"Starmie you're ok!" Misty shouts surprised
Sharpedo resurfaces but it's not looking good
"What a shocking turn of events!" The Announcer shouts, "By pure luck a thunderstorm happened to roll in at just the right moment to save Starmie!"
"It's not luck at all." Brock says
"What do you mean Brock? What happened?" Ash asked confused
"Starmie learnt Thunder." Brock says
"Sharpedo are you alright?" Damien asks
Sharpedo!
"Then use Bite!" Damien yells
Sharpedo dashes towards Starmie
"Starmie Harden!" Misty yells
Starmie glows and it's skin becomes harder. Sharpedo bites into it. Starmie thrashes in pain but stays standing
"Alright Dazzling Gleam!"
A rainbow-coloured shine surrounds Starmie's body
"Sharpedo get out of there quick!" Damien yells
Sharpedo lets go and tries to swim away but it's too late. The energy explodes engulfing Sharpedo. The Shark lets out a scream. The light fades revealing that Sharpedo has fainted
"Sharpedo is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Misty!"
The crowd cheers
"Woohoo! Way to go Misty!" Ash jumps around excitedly
Pikachupi!
Oddish Odd!
"You did great Starmie. Return!" Misty returns Starmie, "I won!"
Damien returns Sharpedo
"And there you have it folks! The winner of the Porta Vista Water Tournament: Misty Waterflower!" The Announcer shouts
Misty and Damien are brought back to the shore. Damien shakes Misty's hand
"You've raised your Starmie very well." Damien says
"Thank you." Misty replies
The Announcer heads over to them with a blue coloured badge in his hand. He presents it to Misty
"Congralutions Misty. I hereby present to you the Water badge."
Misty takes it, "Thank you." She turns and does Ash's pose, "I won the Water Badge!"
Alex glances over at Ash expecting him to be upset but he's too busy cheering. Alex grins and rolls his eyes
Ash, Alex ,Misty, Pikachu and Oddish are resting at the Pokemon Centre. Oddish is playing with Misty's badge
"That was awesome Misty. You really gave it your all." Ash says
"It was mainly Starmie. It really pulled through for me." Misty says
"So that's one badge down. Two more and you qualify for the Elemental League." Alex says
"Do you have any clue where other tournaments might be located?" Misty asks
"No. We'll just have to keep an eye out and hope we come across them." Alex says
"For now let's focus on heading to Saffron City!" Ash shouts excitedly
"Hey Ash do you have any clue how to get to Saffron?" Misty asks
"Uh...no."
Alex and Misty fall over
"He's hopeless."
Brock heads over to them, "Don't worry Brocko has it covered."
"What do you mean Brock?"
"I booked us tickets on the ferry to Maiden's Peak. We can travel on foot from there towards Saffron City." Brock says
"Alright! Brock to the rescue!"
Pikachu!
"When's the ferry heading out?" Alex asks
"In the evening. We have a few hours so I suggest we use that time to take care of anything we need to."
"I'm gonna go call Professor Oak. I want to send Krabby over to him." Ash gets up and heads over to the video phone
"Hey Oddish Pikachu you want to go play on the beach for a little while?" Misty asks

Oddish!
"Alright let's go!" Misty,Pikachu and Oddish run off leaving Alex and Brock behind
"So uh-" Brock starts saying
"You can go hit on Nurse Joy." Alex says
"Woohoo!" Brock runs off
Misty, Pikachu and Oddish are playing near the water
Horsea
"Hmm?" Misty turns and sees a Horsea has swam over to them, "Oh are you that same Horsea from yesterday?"
Horsea nods
"I'm glad you're ok. I was worried about you." Misty says
Horsea!
Horsea suddenly leaps out of the water and into Misty's arms
"Woah. Hey do you want to come along with me?" Misty asks
Horsea! Horsea!
"Alright then." Misty gently bumps a pokeball against it and Horsea gets sucked in
The ferry has departed from Porta Vista. The Pokegang are on the deck staring out at the sunset
"Saffron City here we come." Ash says excitedly
Team Rocket follows along in their Gyarados submarine. A Magikarp is splashing in the water behind them

Me: And we're done. I know some of you might be upset that I skipped through a couple battles but I don't want to waste time writing battle scenes for what are essentially filler battles. Not only does it make the chapter unnecessarily longer but it's rather boring. Anyhow next episode is the Gastly one, I'm looking forward to that one. So and Krabby's gone. I wasn't gonna have him stick on Ash's team forever but I wanted to have Ash use him for a little while. Who knows though maybe I'll bring him back later on? We'll see.
