"I don't doubt for a second that they're sincere, in whatever emotion they're expressing. They simply aren't that kind of people. Subterfuge...isn't even in half of their vocabularies."
"So, if it's true that they're really as sincere as you say, then why do you seem so suspicious about their actions? If I'm being honest, it sounds to me like either they aren't as good of friends as you're making them out to be, or something else is at play here." Lucy paused, and when she spoke again, it was a hint quieter. "If they really are your friends, then you should be able to go to them if you're struggling, especially if it's about things that they themselves are doing. If what they're doing makes you uncomfortable, then perhaps all of you need to get together to talk through any issues you have."
"I…suppose you make a good point. I'm afraid I'd be too embarrassed to speak to them about all this anyway; that's part of the reason I'm here after all. When it comes to resolving problems they tend to default to actions rather than words. On top of that, they don't know the meaning of patience and are all notoriously stubborn."
"Do you include yourself in that arrangement?"
The figure gave a small, forced chuckle. "I suppose I would have to then." Without so much a word, a click sounded in Cobra's head as noticed Minerva's inner thoughts beginning to shift. The storm inside her quieted in an instant as a single thought took shape. "Wait, wait!" She gasped as her thoughts spun. "It's me. Why didn't I see it before?"
