PokemonFan-I'm glad you're enjoying the story and thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely keep them in mind. The only one that is ruled out(at least for now) is Smoochum because I have a plan involving Brock and Jynx. I can see Ash having a Ponyta, I actually considered having him keep Rapidash after the Pokemon race but changed my mind because I couldn't think of a good reason for Lara to part with it
Ash: Charmander's Evolution
The Pokegang have been travelling for three days since leaving Stone Town, they are currently on their way to Mossgreen Village to compete in another Elemental League tournament. Alex hasn't been in the best of moods but luckily for him the gang have stumbled across the perfect opportunity to cheer him up
"A carnival!" Ash shouts excitedly
"And so many beautiful girls..." Brock is practically drooling
"And all the rides and shows. This is gonna be so much fun!" Misty yells
Alex groans, "All this noise is giving me a headache."
"Oh cheer up Alex. Maybe some cotton candy will make you feel better?" Misty suggests
"Sweet things make me nauseous." Alex replies
"But I saw you eat an entire box of chocolate?"
"It's a recent development." Alex replies emotionlessly
Misty sighs, "Ash you give it a try."
No response
"Ash?" Misty looks around and notices Brock and Ash have joined a group of dancers. They're changed into ridiculous looking party outfits
"Woohoo! Hey Misty Alex Pikachu come join us!" Ash yells
Misty stares at them embarrassed and slowly starts backing away. Pikachu and Alex follow her
"No no that's fine. We'll uh just go over there." The three of them rush off
"So which ride do you want to go on first?" Misty asks
"You pick. I don't care." Alex replies
"Come on don't be so grouchy. Here let's try the Ferris wheel." Misty suggests
They board the Ferris wheel and go up to the top. Misty and Pikachu are having fun but Alex just continues moping
"Look I can see Evolution Mountain from up here!" Misty yells
Alex sighs
"Oh oops." Misty covers her mouth, "Sorry Alex."
"It's fine. Whatever."
Misty looks thoughtful, "Alright maybe this ride is too slow. You need something to get your adrenaline pumping."
"Ahhhhh! Get me off this thing!" Alex screams as the roller coaster does a loop. Misty and Pikachu have their arms raised
"This is fun!" Misty yells

"I'm gonna die!" Alex screams
"Ok maybe the roller coaster wasn't the best idea." Misty admits, "But hey at least you're not grumpy anymore."
Alex is shivering, "I thought these places were supposed to be fun?"
"Ok let's try something more relaxing. How about the carousel?" Misty suggests

"That seems safe." Alex nods
After a relaxing carousel ride Alex is doing a little better
"I admit that helped a bit." Alex says
"See this place is perfect! Let's go look for more rides!" Misty yells

The three of them are walking through the carnival while eating ice cream
"Hmm we've tried the roller coaster, the Ferris wheel, the carousel, the bumper cars and the teacups. What next?" Misty asks
"I've had it I quit!" They year a woman yelling. They look over curiously and see a woman dressed in a Vulpix themed outfit glaring down at a magician who is begging on his knees. Some Exeggcute are also there
"Please don't leave me." The magician begs, "I promise to pay you as soon as I can."
"Then pay me now!" The assistant yells
"I can't right now but as soon as I get some paying customers I'll pay you." He says

"And just who do you think is going to come watch your lousy show?" The assistant asks angrily
"Don't go I promise." He tries to reach for the woman but she hits him knocking him to the ground
"I've had it with your promises!" She folds her arms and storms off. The magician just lays on the ground defeated
"We should probably check on him." Misty says
"Do we have to?" Alex asks
Misty heads over to the magician, "Excuse me are you alright sir?"
The magician reaches up for her weakly, "You're a kind person aren't you?"
"Not particularly no." Alex replies causing Misty to hit him
"Such a beautiful girl. You'd help me wouldn't you?" The magician asks, "You'd be so perfect."
"Umm..." Misty is unsure what to say
"You're the only one who could help me now."
"This guy is creeping me out." Alex whispers to Pikachu who nods
"Please just listen." The magician gets back to his feet and dusts himself off
"Ok?" Misty replies
"I'd like you to become my new assistant."
"What!" Misty yells
Exeggcute! Exeggcute!
"I'm a magician. Melvin's the name."
"Hi." Misty answers unsure
Melvin holds out his hand, "For you."
A flower appears
"Wow." Misty takes the flower
"I'm not very famous yet but I'm working very hard on my magic act. My dream is to have my own Neon Town showroom."
"Neon Town? Isn't that the town in the middle of the desert?" Alex asks, "The one where apparently no one ever sleeps?"
"Yes that's the one. It's like a giant never ending party there. There's lot of performances and gambling." Melvin replies
Alex's eyes light up at the word gambling, "Misty will be delighted to be your assistant."
"I will!" Misty yells shocked
"Oh that's wonderful. Please follow me to the backroom where we can begin preparing for today's show." Melvin heads inside his tent. His Exeggcute bounce in after him. Misty glares at Alex
"You're always going on about how you want to be an internationally known beauty. This is the first step." Alex defends himself
"You're just hoping he brings you with him." Misty replies annoyed
Spotlights appear on the stage revealing Melvin, Misty and Pikachu. Misty is wearing a Goldeen themed dress that she is obviously uncomfortable in. Pikachu is wearing a bowtie
(How did I agree to do this?) Misty thinks to herself
Alex is standing backstage staring out at the extremely small crowd.
"This guy must really suck." He mumbles to himself
Misty on the other hand is relieved at the small crowd
"At least there's not too many people." She whispers to herself
"Misty!"
She looks up startled and sees Ash and Brock have just entered the tent
"What are you doing up there?" Ash asks, "Are you part of the show?"

"What are you doing here?" She asks embarrassed
"That's a real cute outfit Misty." Ash says causing her to blush deeply
"Come on start the show already!" Someone from the crowd yells
"Yeah I'm getting bored!" Someone else yells
Ash and Brock take a seat at the front of the row. Misty keeps her eyes downturned
"Yes yes of course. Thank you for your patience. Now please allow me to introduce my magical Pokemon Exeggcute!" Melvin gestures at a table and his Exeggcute hop onto to it

"Oh cool! Pokemon!" Ash exclaims, "What do Exeggcute evolve into again?"
"Exeggutor. Although you need a Leaf Stone to do it." Brock explains
"Now it's time for some Exeggcute juggling." Melvin holds out his hands and the Exeggcute pretty much just juggle themselves
"This is magic?" Ash asks sarcastically
"We don't want juggling!" Someone from the crowd yells
"Boring!" Brock yells
"Tell me about it." Alex mumbles annoyed
Misty is slowly shrinking away
"We want to see some magic!" Ash yells
"Yeah do a trick!" Someone from the crowd yells
"Hold on the best part is coming up." Melvin replies nervously, "My Pokemon and I are gonna do some great magic tricks now that surmaze and aprise you."
"Don't you mean amaze and surprise you?" Misty asks
Melvin chuckles nervously, "That's right. You see that's why we make such a great team."
"Yeah right." Misty replies sarcastically
Melvin steps in front of a table and holds out his staff. A bunch of electricity sparks out from behind him
"Wow!" The crowd gasp
It's actually Pikachu using mild Thunder shocks
"Now behold my next trick! Raging fire!" He points his staff forward and presses a button. A small puff of flames appear and immediately die out. The crowd has gone dead silent. Alex just runs his hand along his face
"I couldn't have picked a worse magician." He grumbles
"That was pathetic!" Someone yells
"You're the worst!"
"Just one more try!" Melvin begs. He shakes his staff before pressing the button. This time a huge burst of flame shoots out across the room causing the crowd to gasp in awe
"That's awesome!" Ash yells
"I can't believe it!" Melvin yells and starts shooting more fire out, "It's never worked before!"
Melvin starts shooting fire all around the room and laughing. Misty and Pikachu duck for cover
"Be careful Melvin!" Misty yells
He almost hits someone in the audience.
"Fire! Fire!" He yells excitedly
"Ahhh!" Ash and Brock duck between their chairs. The rest of the audience has gone into a panic as Melvin continues shooting his flamethrower staff
"Hahahaha!"
He shoots it upwards causing the sprinklers to activate. What remains of the crowd is furious
"You're the worst!"
"I want my money back!"
They start storming out
"Wait please!" Melvin yells, "Come back!"
"Rip off!" Someone yells
"Please don't go! The best part is just about to start!" Melvin yells before someone throws a bottle in his face knocking him to the ground
"Ah Melvin!" Misty checks on him
"Get out! You're fired!" The boss of the carnival screams at Melvin.
Ash, Alex ,Misty, Brock and Pikachu are watching from the sidelines as Melvin gets chewed out
"Give me another chance." Melvin begs
"Are you kidding? No one comes to see you and you almost burned my carnival to the ground! Get out of here!" The boss storms into his tent
"I feel sorry for him." Ash says
"He just doesn't know what he's doing. You can relate to that." Misty tells Ash annoyed
"What's that mean?" Ash asks confused
Misty ignores him and goes to check on Melvin
"Don't worry Melvin. Cheer up."
"Fired again." Melvin sulks, "I'll never make it to Neon Town at this rate."
Exeggcute...
"I guess we'll have to give up all our dreams..."
"Give up?" Ash asks upset, "You're not gonna give up your dreams that easy are you!"
"But..."
"If your show's no good then learn some new tricks and make it good!" Ash yells
"That's a good idea." Brock agrees
"Ash does say something right once in awhile." Misty says
"Say what?" Ash asks confused
"New tricks?" Melvin asks
"Yeah. We'll even help you out." Ash offers
"Don't quit now Melvin." Misty says
"Alright I'll give it a try." Melvin agrees
Team Rocket are spying on them from their hot air balloon
"What are those twerps doing now?" Jessie asks
"It looks like they're talking to a magician." Meowth answers
James chuckles, "Wait until they see our bag of tricks."
"Ok well I our go." Melvin bows before spinning his staff around, "Abrakadabra! Tada!"
A bouquet of roses pops out of the end of his staff. The Pokegang start clapping
"Not bad Melvin." Ash cheers
The flowers suddenly fall to the ground revealing that they're dead
"Huh?" Melvin looks confused
"The flowers are dead..." Brock mumbles
"So is his act." Misty replies
Melvin collapses to his knees, "All my life I've dreamed of becoming a magician, of entertaining people and seeing their faces light up. But now the dream's all over..."
Exeggcute!
Ash stands up determined, "I'll show you how to put on a real magic show!"
"And how's that?" Alex asks confused
Ash smirks, "With Pokemon."
Ash has changed outfits to look more "mysterious."
"Welcome! I am the Amazing Ash and I can make anything appear out of this box!" He gestures at a small box with three holes sticking out of the top
"Yay." Melvin claps enthusiastically
"What would you like to see first?" Ash asks
"Uh fire." Melvin replies
Ash twirls a stick, "Fire appear!"
A burst of flames shoots out from the middle hole
"Wow that was great!" Melvin cheers
"Now what would you like to see that?" Ash asks
"Electricity." Alex replies causing Ash to glare at him, "Oh sorry...Water."
"Water appear!" Ash yells and a stream of water shoots out from the right hole
"How does he do it?" Misty asks in an obvious fake voice
Inside the box is Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Squirtle finishes firing off Water Gun and sits down.

It smells something burning
Squirtle? Squirtle!
It leaps up realizing that it accidentally sat on Charmander's tail and bashes it's head against the top of the box

Charmander moves around...and accidentally sets Bulbasaur on fire

Ash watches confused as the box starts shaking. Bulbasaur's vines shoot out of the box
"Cut it out guys." Ash whispers softly and tries to hold the box in place

"Quit fighting!" Ash yells
The three Pokemon burst from the box and Charmander fires a Flamethrower burning everyone in sight
"Ahhh!"
Ash groans, "I guess I need a bigger box..."
Alex, Misty, Brock and Pikachu have gone to clean themselves off. Ash is examining Melvin's Exeggcute
"So the only Pokemon you have is Exeggcute?" Ash asks
"That's right" Melvin replies
"They don't really do much do they?" Ash asks
The Exeggcute start hopping up and down offended
"Hey calm down. Why are you staring at me like that?" Ash asks confused
The Exeggcute's eyes start glowing
Exeggcute! Exeggcute!
Ash stares at them transfixed. He falls into a daze
"I command you to stop." Melvin tells his Exeggcute who stop
"Yes master." Ash answers in a monotone voice. Melvin stares at him confused. Ash is hunched over is an unfocused look on his face
"Hmm. Turn around and act like a Bulbasaur." Melvin commands
Ash gets down onto all fours and turns in place while saying Bulbasaur
"Hmm. This could be interesting."
Ash is dragging Melvin and Exeggcute along in a wheelbarrow
"This is Leaf Forest." Melvin explains, "For some reason Exeggcute are able to evolve into Exeggutor here without using a Leaf Stone."
Team Rocket are spying on them still
"It looks like that magician has the twerp under his spell." Jessie says
"They're right where he want them." James comments
Alex, Misty, Brock and Pikachu rush along the trail a few minutes later
"Why do you think they just took off like that?" Misty asks
"I don't know but I have a bad feeling about it." Brock replies
Ash and Melvin arrive at an open clearing where a bunch of Exeggutor are
"Stop." Melvin commands and Ash stops the wheelbarrow. Melvin and Exeggcute hop out
"Now I want you to catch all those Exeggutor for me."
"Yes master." Ash grabs his pokeballs and tosses them, "Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Haunter, Pidgeotto and Primeape attack."
The Pokemon pop out and immediately go on the offensive attacking the Exeggutor. Melvin starts tossing pokeballs catching each Exeggutor one by one until he's caught them all
"Wow look at all these Exeggutor that I owe caught." Melvin says happily. He lets them all out

"That's all." He tells Ash
"Return." Ash returns his Pokemon
"Now with all these Exeggutor I can hypnotize everyone at the carnival and make them come see my show. Finally my dreams are going to become a reality!" Melvin yells

"In your dreams!" A female voice yells
"What? Who's that?" Melvin asks confused
A smoke cloud goes off and Jessie and James reveal themselves. They are dressed in fancy clothing
Jessie: Prepare for trouble!
James: And make it double!
Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!
James: To unite all peoples within our nation!
"They look more like magicians than I do." Melvin says depressed
Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
Meowth pushes a box over to them
James: To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie and James climb onto the box which closes. Jessie sticks her face through a hole
Jessie: Jessie!
James sticks his face through a hole
James: James!
Meowth drapes a cloth over the box
Meowth: Alakazam!
He then rips the cloth off revealing that the entire box has disappeared
Meowth: Presto!
Melvin starts clapping, "That was amazing!"
"It's not over yet!"
Melvin looks up and sees Jessie and James standing in their hot air balloon
Jessie: Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!
James: Surrender now or prepare to fight!
They leap out of the balloon and land on the ground
Meowth: Meowth! That's right!
Melvin claps excitedly
"If you were a real magician you could do tricks like that." James points out
"That's right." Jessie says
Melvin hangs his head shamefully, "You're right. My magic stinks."
"You obviously have no talent as a magician but you're good at catching Exeggutor for us." Jessie smirks
"Now we'll make them disappear." James says
"And we'll use their hypnotic power to catch all the Pokemon in the world." Meowth says
"No you can't!" Melvin yells
"You have no choice." Jessie points out
Team Rocket tie him up
"Stop it! Let me go!" Melvin yells
Exeggcute! Exeggcute!
His Exeggcute hops around angrily.
"Quiet you!" Jessie yells
Exeggcute starts glowing
"Ah! It's evolving!" Meowth yells
Exeggcute evolves into Exeggutor
Exeggutor!
"It's another Exeggutor!" Team Rocket yell
Exeggutor's eyes start glowing
"It's trying to use Hypnosis on us." James says drowsily
"Quick look away." Jessie says and they turn...only to realize all the Exeggutor have started using Hypnosis
"Oh no. We're surrounded." Meowth says
Exeggutor Exeggutor Exeg..Gutor..
Team Rocket have gone into a daze...but unfortunately so have all the Exeggutor
"What's wrong Exeggutor?" Melvin asks confused
The Exeggutor suddenly all run off trampling Ash, Melvin and all of his pokeballs in the process
"I don't get the respect I think I deserve." Melvin groans before passing out
The Pokegang notice the herd of Exeggutor stampeding towards them
"Look out!" Brock yells and they leap out of the way. The Exeggutor carry on
"What's going on!" Misty yells confused
"Is that Team Rocket?" Alex points at Team Rocket who are marching along chanting Exeggutor
They rush over to the clearing where Melvin and Ash are both unconscious
"Ash!" Misty rushes over and shakes Ash, "Are you ok Ash?"
Brock checks on Melvin
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!" Misty order and Pikachu fires the Thunderbolt shocking Ash
"Ahhhhh!" Ash hops to his feet, "I'm awake!"
Ash rubs his head, "Ow. Why does my head hurt so much?"
"I think you got run over by like thirty or something Exeggutor." Alex points out
"Exegg...oh right! Where's Melvin!" Ash yells
Melvin groans as he regains consciousness, "Oh I screwed up."
Brock helps him up
"Melvin what did you do!" Ash yells
"The Exeggutor used Hypnosis on each other and got all confused." Melvin explains
"So we have an entire herd of confused Exeggutor all marching towards..." Alex's sentence trails off
"The carnival!" Ash yells, "We have to stop them!"
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen..." Melvin says softly
"Quit whining and get a move on." Alex says annoyed, "We have to fix your mess now."
They rush back towards the carnival only to see the place has already been trampled
"Oh no! We're too late!" Ash yells
The owner of the carnival rushes towards them, "Quick you need to get out of here before those Exeggutor come back!"
"Come back?" Brock asks
"Yeah the Exeggutor herd stampeded through here destroying everything. Now they did a loop and are making their way back." The boss explains, "I've evacuated the carnival and left a little surprise to stop them."
"A surprise? What are you talking about?" Misty asks
"I've placed an explosive device in the middle of the carnival. It's time so that as soon as the Exeggutor arrive boom! No more Exeggutor!"
The Pokegang stare at him horrified. He rushes off to safety
"We can't let him blow up the Exeggutor!" Ash yells
"We're gonna have to stop them before they get here." Alex says
"Guys here they come!" Misty points ahead at the Exeggutor herd which is making it's way back
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!" Ash yells
Pikachu fires the Thunderbolt but the Exeggutor shake it off
"It's not working!" Ash yells
"Maybe try something stronger? Like fire attacks?" Melvin suggests
"Right! Go Charmander!" Ash tosses his pokeball and Charmander pops out
Charmander! Char!
"Charmander use Flamethrower!" Ash yells
Charmander fires the Flamethrower hitting a few Exeggutor. They snap out of the Hypnosis and wander off confused
"It worked! Alright Charmander I need you to keep attacking those Exeggutor!" Ash orders
Charmander nods and fires another Flamethrower
"Charmeleon you help out too!" Alex tosses his pokeball and Charmeleon pops out

"Vulpix you too!" Brock yells
Vulpix!
The three Pokemon fire Flamethrower at the Exeggutor, but there's still too many of them
Charmander is breathing heavily
Char...Char...
Charmeleon pats his back

Charmander nods and keeps attacking, but all three Pokemon are getting visibly tired
"I don't know if they can keep this up." Brock says concerned
"Come on guys. You can do it." Ash reassures them
Misty looks over at Melvin, "Melvin you can help!"
"I can?" Melvin asks confused
"Your fire staff remember? If you use that you can wake up all those Exeggutor!" Misty exclaims
"I can't do it!" Melvin yells, "All I ever do is screw things up..."
"Melvin you have to try." Misty begs, "You said it's your dream to become a magician. You have to wake those Exeggutor for their sake and yours!"
Melvin stares at the ground, "I know I can't..."
"Look at those Pokemon." Misty points at the fire types who are still attacking the Exeggutor, "Look how hard they're working. If they can do it then you can at least try."
Melvin stares at Charmander, Charmeleon and Vulpix who are all visibly pushing themselves to keep attacking. Melvin straightens up determined
"I'll give it my best shot!" Melvin raises his staff and points it at the Exeggutor, "Raging fire!"
A massive burst of flame shoots out from the staff hitting multiple Exeggutor at once
"Alright Melvin!" Ash yells
Melvin, Charmander, Charmeleon and Vulpix continue attacking the Exeggutor until all of them have been snapped out of the hypnosis

They start heading off in multiple directions
"Huh what happened?" Jessie asks confused
They are suddenly swept up by the Exeggutor and carried away
"Ah! We're blasting off again!"
"I did it?" Melvin asks himself shocked, "I did it! I really did it!"
"Yeah great job Melvin." Misty says
Melvin's Exeggutor heads over to them

"Oh Exeggutor you're not confused anymore!" Melvin hugs Exeggutor
At that moment the bomb goes off behind them
"Phew that was close." Alex says
"Yeah. Thank goodness no one got hurt." Melvin says
Char...
Charmander starts glowing
"Charmander?" Ash asks confused
"It's evolving!" Brock exclaims
Charmander grows taller
Charmeleon!
"You evolved into a Charmeleon!" Ash yells
Ash's Charmeleon stares at itself. It smirks and lets out a powerful Flamethrower
Charmeleon!
Alex's Charmeleon heads over and pats it on the shoulder

Ash rushes over and hugs Charmeleon
"This is wonderful Charmeleon!"
Charmeleon looks uncomfortable. It lets out a Flamethrower near Ash's head
"Ah! Careful Charmeleon you almost hit me."
The Pokegang are departing from the carnival. They wave goodbye to Melvin and Exeggutor
"Bye Melvin! Never forget your dreams!" Misty yells
"And remember practice makes perfect!" Ash yells
"Goodbye! And thank you for everything!" Melvin yells
The gang walk off
"Today was a good day." Ash says, "I can't wait to see what the future holds for Charmeleon and me."
The group have arrived in Mossgreen village
"Wow this place is small." Alex says as they look over the village
"It's not really a well-known village." Brock says, "They don't even have their own Pokemon Centre."
"So how do they heal up their Pokemon?" Misty asks
"They have to rely on local medicine." Brock explains, "That's partly why this tournament is being so well advertised. It helps to promote the village."
"What type of tournament is it?" Alex asks
"Let me check." Brock pulls out a pamphlet, "Bugs."
"Bugs!" Misty screams terrified
"Aww man. I don't own any Bug type Pokemon." Ash whines, "I guess I better go look for some."
He tries to head off but Misty grabs his ear
"No way Ketchum!"
"But Misty..."
"I said no!" Misty yells
The two start screaming at each other while everyone else just watch annoyed
"Will not!"
"Will too!"
"Will not!"
"Will too!"
"Will not!"
"Will too!"
"Will you two just cut out already!" Brock yells causing them both to stop, "Thank you."
"Hey do you think we can get something to eat?" Alex asks
"Yeah I'm starving!" Ash exclaims
"Me too." Misty agrees

"We can get something to eat later. First we need to stock up on medicine." Brock says and they head into the village.
Jessie and James are spying on them from the bushes
"Looks like the twerps are heading into town." James says
"Let's sneak ahead of them." Jessie says
They start moving when they realize they're missing someone
"Where's Meowth?" Jessie asks
They look back and see Meowth is leaning against a tree. He is breathing heavily and his face looks flushed. Jessie and James head back over to him
"Hey Meowth catnap's over." James says
Jessie reaches out to grab him, "Get up before I lose-"
She touches him and burns her hand, "Ouch! He's burning up!"
"I don't feel so great." Meowth tells them as he slumps over
"Too bad we can't wait for you to chill out." Jessie says. She tries to walk away but James stops her
"Hang on. If we leave Meowth here he could collapse from that fever." James says concerned
"Don't worry. He still has eight more lives left." Jessie says
"That's a good point." James admits
"This time we're gonna nab that Pikachu." Jessie says determined
"Pikachu for me and you." James says, "Let's go."
They turn to leave
"Hold it!" They hear a woman's voice yell
"Huh?" Team Rocket turn and see a woman has wandered over and is checking on Meowth
"Oh you poor thing you're so hot." She looks over at Team Rocket angrily, "How could you even think of abandoning your Pokemon when it's overheating like this you irresponsible trainers!"
"Does she think that we're Meowth's trainers?" James asks confused
Him and Jessie burst out laughing
"Why are you laughing!" The woman yells
"You must be joking if you think we'd ever be the trainers of that thing." Jessie says
"Don't you recognize superheroes when you see them?" James asks
"You're superheroes?" The woman asks confused
"Sometimes we both go undercover." Jessie says
"But our enemies soon discover." James says
"We're the Team Rocket super squad!" They strike heroic poses
"You're super losers if you'd leave a sick Pokemon!" The woman yells
"I guess you're right" James says stunned
"We're sorry" Jessie says also stunned
The woman goes back to treating Meowth, "Don't worry I'll make something to cool you down."
She takes some herbs out of her basket and starts crushing them in a small cup. Meowth stares at her in a daze
"Meowth..."
"Here drink this." She helps Meowth drink some tea
"Thank you..." He says weakly
The flush on his face slowly disappears
"Wow." James says
"Amazing." Jessie agrees
"It'll be fine now." The woman tells them, "Just give it one of these pills are each meal."
Jessie takes the pills from her, "Uh sure."
The woman leaves. Meowth stares at her as she goes. He starts blushing
"She really cared about me..."
"Meowth's turning red again." James says
"Maybe he's getting sick again." Jessie says
"I'm not sick!" Meowth yells and scratches their faces
"Owwww!" They yell
"He's back to normal." James says
The Pokegang have entered the local medicine store
"Is anybody home?" Ash asks
He glances around the store. There's a bunch of jars full of roots and stuff
"This looks like some kind of witch doctor's hut." Alex observes
They hear someone grinding something. They see an old woman in the corner of the room who is busy grinding herbs
"Excuse me we'd like to buy some potions and antidotes." Misty says
The old woman chuckles and looks up at them, "I've got some Magikarp whiskers that will cure insomnia and grow hair on your nose and tongue."
"Grow hair on my nose and tongue?" Misty asks disgusted
"Uh does it come in a no hair formula?" Brock asks
"Grandma!" The woman that helped Team Rocket enters the store, "I told you to stop scaring the customers."
The grandmother laughs, "It's so fun though. Look at their faces heehee"
"She does kind of have a point." Alex admits
"Don't mind my grandmother." The woman says, "She doesn't get out much."
Brock shoves past everyone so he's face to face with the woman, "My name's Brock. Are you the owner of this Pokemon pharmacy?"
"Yes. With my grandma." The woman answers
"I'm interested in Pokemon potions. If you're not doing anything tonight maybe we can get together and talk about them?" Brock suggests
"Are all four of you Pokemon trainers?" The woman asks
"Oh well-" Brock is about to answer
"Instead of dinner how about a Pokemon battle?"
Ash shoves Brock aside, "Ok you can battle with me!"
"That's great. We can battle out back."
Team Rocket are spying on the store from a nearby tree. Jessie and James are reciting their motto to themselves
Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!
James: To unite all peoples within our nation!
"Yeah well you can unite all peoples after that girl comes out." Meowth interrupts
"What girl?" Jessie asks as the Pokegang exit the store
"Yeah who do you mean?" James asks
The woman exits the store
"That's her! It's the nice nurse." Meowth says excitedly
"Now wait Meowth." Jessie says
"Don't forget our mission is to capture Pikachu." James says
Meowth sighs, "She's captured my heart."
"This Paras will be your opponent." The woman, who introduced herself as Cassandra, says
"A Paras?" Ash asks
"This should be interesting." Alex says
The Paras looks at them timidly. Pikachu heads over to introduce himself

Paras backs away terrified
Paras!
It hides behind Cassandra
"Paras you can't give up already." She says
"Seems like your Pokemon doesn't want to battle us." Ash observes
"You're right." She says, "I'd love for Paras to evolve into Parasect very soon, but it's too scared to battle."
"The best way for Pokemon to evolve is by having them win battles." Brock says, "That way they gain more confidence and become stronger."
"But why do you want to make Paras evolve so fast?" Misty asks
"Because I have to have Parasect's mushroom." Cassandra answers
"Is there something special about the mushroom?" Alex asks
"I'm working on a special healing potion for Pokemon, but one of the ingredients I need is a Parasect's mushroom." The woman explains
"Huh. I wonder if that's why my Parasect keeps trying to eat itself?" Alex wonders out loud
Team Rocket are eavesdropping
"She's too terrific to be human. That's it I'll give up all nine lives to make Cassandra's dream come true." Meowth declares
Jessie and James just shake their heads
Ash is talking to Pikachu
"Just this once since it's for a good cause we're gonna let Paras win ok." Ash says
Pikachu nods and steps up to battle
Pikachu!
"Goodluck Paras." Cassandra says
Paras scuttles onto the battlefield nervously
"Pikachu Thunderbo...Uh I mean..." Ash stops unsure what to say
"What's wrong Ash?" Misty asks
"I've never intentionally lost before." Ash says, "I'm not sure what to do."
"Just tell Pikachu to take it easy." Brock says
"Alright um. Pikachu use Thundershock! But just a tiny bolt..." Ash commands
Pikachu fires a little jolt of electricity...which one-shots Paras
"Ah!" Cassandra yells
Ash slaps himself, "I can't believe it."
"That wasn't fair!" Meowth yells
"But it was humiliating." Jessie says
"What a pathetic Paras." James says
Cassandra shakes Paras awake. Pikachu is scratching his head confused
Pika?
"What am I gonna do now?" Ash asks
"Try a Water type." Alex suggests, "Paras is strong against those."
"Oh ok good idea. Pikachu return." Pikachu rushes back and Ash pulls out a pokeball, "Go Squirtle!"
Squirtle!
"Hey it's a water type! You can win Paras!" Cassandra yells
Paras stands up and lets out a weak Stun Spore. Squirtle dodges it and prepares to fire a Water Gun
"Squirtle go easy ok." Ash says
Squirtle looks at him confused but lets out a little drizzle...which one-shots Paras
"Paras!" Cassandra yells
"This is just sad." Alex says
"Paras are you hurt?" Cassandra asks
Paras wakes up
"Please give it one more try."
Paras gets back into a battle position but is visibly traumatized by this point
"Squirtle return." Ash returns his Pokemon, "Alright maybe having it beat something with a type advantage will boost it's confidence. Go Charmeleon!"
Charmeleon pops out
Char Charmeleon(I'm ready.)
He notices the Paras he's facing
Charmeleon?(That's my opponent?)
Paras stares up at Charmeleon terrified and starts shaking
Char...meleon Char Char Charmeleon(It's so...pathetic. Oh well this is a good opportunity to show off my strength at least.)
Charmeleon gets ready to battle
"Charmeleon go easy on it alright." Ash says, "We want to let it win."
Charmeleon's eye twitches
Char?(What?)
Charmeleon growls
"Umm Charmeleon?" Ash asks confused
Charmeleon glares at Paras
"Is it just me or does Charmeleon seem more aggressive than usual?" Alex asks
Charmeleon prepares a powerful Flamethrower
"Charmeleon don't!" Ash yells
Charmeleon fires the Flamethrower anyway roasting poor Paras
Paras!
It then kicks Paras knocking it away
"Charmeleon stop!" Ash yells
Paras runs off crying
"Paras come back!" Cassandra yells
Charmeleon lets out a Flamethrower into the air
"What are you doing Charmeleon?" Ash asks upset
Charmeleon responds by shooting a Flamethrower into his face
"Ahhh!" Ash falls on the ground. Charmeleon huffs annoyed

Everyone backs away from Charmeleon terrified
"It's out of control." Brock says
Pikachu fires a Thunderbolt hitting Charmeleon
Charmeleon!
Charmeleon faints
Pikachu rushes over and checks on Ash
Pikapi!
Ash groans and sits up, "Thanks Pikachu."
He returns Charmeleon
"Are you ok Ash?" Brock asks
Ash groans
Cassandra comes back, "Oh dear Paras has run away."
Ash gets to his feet, "I didn't want to beat it."
"It's my fault for challenging you to a Pokemon battle." Cassandra says
"We'll look for your Paras." Brock says
Everyone springs into action...everyone except Ash who just stares at Charmeleon's pokeball
"Charmeleon what's gotten into you?" Ash asks himself
Paras has run off into the woods
Paras Paras Paras
It runs straight into Meowth
Paras?
"Don't you worry Paras. I'm gonna help you toughen up." Meowth says
"And?" Jessie and James ask Meowth who has just explained his plan to them
"And what?" Meowth asks confused
"And if James and I help this worthless little Paras what's in it for us?" Jessie asks
"What do we get?" James asks
"I'll tell you what you get. If you two make this Paras evolve then you'll become rich beyond your wildest dreams!"
This catches Jessie and James' attention
"Go on."
"Cassandra's miracle Pokemon potion could millions maybe even zillions." Meowth explains
"And how do we get rich from her potion?" Jessie asks
"Once me and her are a cozy twosome she'll make me her company mascot!" Meowth exclaims
This loses their attention
"We're thrilled for you." Jessie says disingenuously
"But we won't get rich." James says
"I was gonna make you two my business managers. I'll have a lot of money to manage. But if you'd rather not..." Meowth lets his sentence run off
Jessie and James are fantasizing about what they can do with millions of poke dollars
"Let's get to work!" Jessie yells
"Yes we'll toughen this Paras up in no time at all!" James yells
Meowth smirks
"So how are we going to do this?" James asks
"Paras needs to get more confidence. Which means it needs to win battles." Meowth explains
"Yeah but there's no way that thing is gonna beat any Pokemon." Jessie says
"Not fairly no." Meowth says, "I need you to lend me your Pokemon."
"What? No way." James says
"Yeah what James said." Jessie says
"It's for a good cause. Think of all that money." Meowth says
"Here you go!" Jessie and James hand Meowth their pokeballs
"Go Seaking!" Meowth tosses the pokeball and Seaking pops out. It flops on the grass uselessly

Paras stares at it terrified
"Go ahead Paras! Attack!" Meowth cheers
Paras closes it's eyes and pokes Seaking. Meowth suddenly attacks Seaking knocking it out
"You did it Paras!" Meowth yells
Paras opens it's eyes and is shocked to see Seaking has fainted

"Now go Arbok!"
Chabok!
Paras approaches it slowly. Meowth stomps on Arbok's tail

Arbok falls over

Paras stares at it's claw confused
"Wow you're so strong Paras." Jessie cheers

Weezing goes next
Wee...
Meowth pulls a tree branch in the way and Weezing flies straight into it

Weezing falls to the ground
"Another knockout Paras!" James cheers
Paras starts hopping around excitedly. Meowth sends out Weepinbell next. Weepinbell immediately leaps towards James
"Ah no!" James knocks it back and it lands in front of Paras
Paras! Paras!
"I can't believe this is actually working." Jessie says surprised
"Now it's my turn! Taste my Fury Swipes!" Meowth rushes towards Paras who sticks it's claw out and harmlessly pokes Meowth in the chest
"Ah you got me!" Meowth spins around and falls into the ground, "I surrender...you're too strong."
Paras smirks
Paras! Paras!
"Woah it's had a complete personality change." James says surprised
"Yeah it actually thinks it's a tough guy now." Jessie says
"Now we just get it back to Cassandra and all will be fine and dandy." Meowth says
"Hey Paras!" They hear Ash's voice
"The twerps! Quick hide!" Team Rocket dive into the bushes. Paras meanwhile rushes up a tree
"Paras!" Cassandra and the Pokegang rush through the forest
Paras!
They look up and see Paras in the tree
"There you are Paras!" Cassandra exclaims in relief
Paras rushes down the tree
Paras Paras!
"It's acting strange. I've never seen it act like this before." Cassandra says
"It must have gone feral." Alex says
Paras approaches Pikachu
Paras! Paras!
Pika?
"I think Paras is challenging Pikachu to a battle." Brock says
"Really? Oh Paras you must have realized just how important this dream is to me!" Cassandra yells
Paras meanwhile is giving Pikachu the stink eye

Pikachu and Paras get ready to battle
"Remember Pikachu take it easy." Ash says
Pikachu turns towards Ash and nods. Paras takes advantage and jams it's claw into Pikachu's tail
Pikachu!
Pikachu clutches it's tail and growls at Paras. It starts preparing a Thunderbolt
"Pikachu!" Ash yells
Pikachu sighs and falls over
Kaa(I'm done...)
"Yeah way to go Paras!" Cassandra cheers
Paras starts posing over Pikachu's downed body
"It's really getting into this." Alex says
"If you keep battling Paras like this then surely it'll evolve soon." Brock says
Ash nods, "Alright then go Charmeleon!"
Charmeleon pops back out. It lets out a yawn...then it notices the Paras
Charmeleon(You again)
"Ok Charmeleon I'm counting on you." Ash says
Charmeleon scoffs and sits down
"Charmeleon what are you doing?" Ash asks
Charmeleon ignores him
"I don't understand. When he was Charmander he always listened to me." Ash says confused
Cassandra's Grandmother heads over to them, "It's trainer needs more experience heehee. If the trainer is poor then the Pokemon won't respect him and won't obey orders."
Ash looks absolutely devastated. He slumps over depressed
"Call it back Ash." Misty says, "Charmeleon is too strong for Paras to handle."
Ash grabs his pokeball and points it at Charmeleon, "Charmeleon re-"

Charmeleon fires a Flamethrower hitting Ash
"Ahhhh!" Ash falls over
It then spins towards Paras and fires a Flamethrower

Paras manages to dodge but Charmeleon keeps up the attack
"Charmeleon cut it out!" Ash yells
"Stop it please!" Cassandra yells
Paras is running from Charmeleon's attack. Team Rocket suddenly hop out
"Paras you can beat it!" Meowth yells
"It's Team Rocket!" The Pokegang yell
"What are you all doing here?" Cassandra asks confused
"We're the official Pokemon pep squad. Here to cheer on our hero!" Meowth yells
"Go Paras!" Jessie and James cheer
"Don't forget all the training we gave you." Jessie says, "You're pumped for victory."
"There's no way you can lose." James says
"You're a winner!" Meowth exclaims
"They really helped train Paras." Cassandra says to herself
"Am I the only one who has no clue what's going on?" Alex asks
"No I'm lost too." Misty replies
"Let's give a cheer for our hero!" Meowth yells
"Paras Par-" Charmeleon suddenly Flamethrowers Team Rocket
"Owww." They collapse
Paras!
Paras runs off terrified. Charmeleon chases after it
"It's completely out of control! Ash you need to do something to stop it!" Brock yells
"I don't know! He's not listening to me!" Ash yells
"I have an idea. Go Charmeleon!" Alex tosses his pokeball and Charmeleon pops out
"Charmeleon do something about Ash's Charmeleon!" Alex orders
Alex's Charmeleon rushes forward and shoves Ash's one back

Ash's Charmeleon responds by stabbing Alex's Charmeleon with his claw

Alex's Charmeleon collapses to the ground
"Ah Charmeleon!" Alex yells
Ash's Charmeleon then continues it's advance towards Paras. It backs poor Paras up against a tree

Charmeleon prepares to roast Paras alive
"No!" Cassandra yells
"Don't do it Charmeleon!" Ash yells
Paras out of desperation shoves it's claw forward and stabs Charmeleon in the gut

Charmeleon clutches it's stomach and falls over
Paras?
Paras starts glowing. It evolves into Parasect

"Wow it really evolved." Misty says
"Well done Parasect!" Brock yells
"We're all proud of you!" Ash yells
Cassandra rushes over and hugs it, "I never doubted you. Great job Parasect."
"Yahoo!" Jessie cheers as Team Rocket get back to their feet
Charmeleon
They look over just in time for Charmeleon to Flamethrower them again. This time they're sent blasting off
"Not again!" They yell
It turns towards Parasect furious
"Oh no." Ash says worried
Parasect
Parasect suddenly lets out some Spore which puts Charmeleon to sleep
"That was close. Return Charmeleon." Ash says. He looks at Charmeleon's pokeball upset
The Pokegang are saying goodbye to Cassandra and Parasect
"Goodbye guys. And if you need any healing for the tournament be sure to come visit." Cassandra says
"Thanks Cassandra! Goodbye!" The Pokegang head off. A few minutes later and Team Rocket crash into the ground
"Owww" They groan
Cassandra is bandaging Meowth's head
"I'm so lucky. I've got to be the luckiest Pokemon in the whole universe." Meowth says
Parasect
"And here's my star pupil who went from chump to champ in record breaking time."
"How can we ever repay you?" Cassandra asks
Jessie and James, who have also been bandaged up, are eavesdropping nearby
"It was nothing. After you cooled me off it was the least I could do." Meowth says
Jessie and James grin at each other
"She's falling for it." Jessie whispers
"We'll be rich." James whispers back
"Now that fate has thrown us together to help the Pokemon of the world I suppose it's only natural to make me your company mascot am-"
"Never!" Cassandra interrupts
"Huh?" Meowth looks up at her confused
"I'd never take you away from Team Rocket! You're a superhero team aren't ya!" Cassandra yells
Jessie and James glance at each other
"Well we are super." Jessie says nervously
"And a team." James says nervously
"It was super heroic to help out with Paras like that." Cassandra says
"Then what-" Meowth is saying before he is again interrupted
"We already have a company mascot." Cassandra's grandmother enters the tent with a Persian, "I found this Persian sleeping in the backyard."

(Not again!) Meowth screams in his head
"It's adorable! Oh Meowth I promise to pamper this Persian as if it was you. Now you can go on being a superhero." Cassandra says excitedly
"There goes our dreams." Jessie and James slump over depressed
Meowth sniffs, "I'm a hero...but I got zero!"
And he starts crying

I didn't actually like the Paras episode all that much to be honest. It made me laugh a few times but otherwise it was mainly a drag. I'd have skipped it completely but I feel it helps contribute to Charmeleon's attitude problems plus I can use it to set up for another tournament
