True Master-Bulbasaur won't evolve. Although I am planning on adapting all the way to Journeys so there is a chance that I might change my mind at some point but as of right now I have no intention of evolving him. Squirtle is a different story
Alex: Teamwork makes the dream work
The Pokegang spent the night camping out in the woods since there isn't a Pokemon Centre in Mossgreen Village. Misty didn't sleep well
"I swear they were watching me." Misty shivers
"Misty I think you're just being paranoid." Ash says
"No I think I heard some Venonat last night." Alex says as he polishes his egg
"See!" Misty yells, "They were planning something!"
Alex bites his lip to stop himself from laughing
Brock finishes packing up, "Alright guys we can head into town."
They start walking
"I really hope we missed the tournament so we can leave this place." Misty says
"Sorry Misty but it's only taking place tomorrow." Brock says causing Misty to groan
"This isn't fair. What did I do to deserve this?" Misty asks
"Aww cheer up Misty. Think of all the cool Pokemon we can see." Ash says
"That's the problem." Misty mumbles
"Alex have you signed up yet?" Brock asks causing Alex's eyes to widen
"I knew I forgot something."
"What do you mean I need two Pokemon?" Alex asks shocked
"This tournament is Double battles only." The man in charge of the sign-up sheet says
"That's no problem. You have two Bug type Pokemon." Brock says
Alex slumps over, "Yeah but I only have Parasect with me. Unless...Do you happen to have a Pokeball transfer system?"
The man shakes his head
"Well so much for that idea."
"Don't worry. I'm sure there's something in the village. We can go ask Cassandra." Brock suggests
They head back to Cassandra's store
"Oh hi guys." Cassandra says happily
"Hey Cassandra. We need your help with something." Ash says
The gang are walking around Mossgreen, Alex is slumped over
"This sucks." Alex moans
"it's not that bad Alex. We'll just find another tournament." Ash says
"Well if it isn't the old novices!" Ash, Alex and Misty turn towards the voice confused
"Samurai!" They yell
Samurai is standing there with his sword resting against his shoulder
"You know this guy?" Brock asks confused
"Yeah we ran into him back in Viridian Forest." Ash says, "Samurai what are you doing here?"
"I have come to enter the Bug tournament." Samurai answers, "My Pokemon have vastly improved since the last time we met. I look forward to doing battle with you once again."
"Uh I don't actually have any Pokemon to enter." Ash says sheepishly
"You do not? What happened to your Butterfree?" Samurai asks
"I uh released it." Ash replies
"You what!" Samurai yells shocked, "A shame. At least you and I shall battle once again Alex."
"Looking forward to it." Alex says and Samurai wanders off
"But Alex you don't have enough Pokemon." Misty says
"Yeah but he doesn't need to know that." Alex says, "I'll find a way to get Beedrill. Even if I have to run all the way back to Stone Town."
"Alex that's at least a three day journey. You wouldn't make it in time." Brock says
Alex groans
Alex is leaning against a tree. He is playing with his egg
"What are the chances that you're a bug type and that you'll hatch today?" Alex asks
The egg does not respond
"What am I gonna do?" Alex sighs, "Maybe I can use Porygon's Conversion. Would that count?"
He takes out his Pokedex and checks out information on Porygon
Porygon the Virtual Pokemon. A Normal type. A Pokémon that consists entirely of programming code. It is capable of moving freely in cyberspace.
"Cyberspace? Hey Brock I have a question!" Alex yells over to Brock
"What's up Alex?" Brock asks
"When you transfer Pokemon, they go through cyberspace right?" Alex asks
"Yeah I'm not entirely certain how it works though but somehow the Pokemon are transported through cyberspace to whatever destination they were sent to." Brock says
Alex scratches his chin, "I might have an idea."
He calls out Porygon
Po-ry-gon beep beep
"Hey Porygon can you travel into cyberspace?" Alex asks
Porygon nods
"Could you travel to Professor Oak's lab and send Beedrill to this pokeball?" Alex holds out his pokeball
Porygon nods
"Ok I need you to switch places with Beedrill."
Porygon returns itself to the pokeball. Alex sees the red light on the ball flashing. After about a minute there's a ping sound and the flashing stops
"Did it work?" Misty asks curiously
"I guess we'll find out." Alex opens the pokeball and Beedrill pops out

"Yes! Welcome back Beedrill!" Alex cheers
Misty hides behind Ash, "I forgot how scary it was up close."
The next day The Pokegang head to the make-shift battlefield for the tournament. It is taking place in a clearing in the woods. Some chairs have been brought over to allow the small crowd to sit
"Wow I'm not used to such a small crowd." Ash says
"Well it's not like many people live in the village." Brock says, "Even with the visitors there's obviously not gonna be that big a crowd."
Alex glances around at the other contestants. He notices a man holding a whip
"Hey is that..." He trails off as the man turns around
"It's AJ!" Ash yells shocked
AJ heads over to them, "Well I didn't expect to run into you four here."
"It's been awhile AJ." Alex says
"Yeah about two months give or take." AJ says, "I assume you're entering the tournament."
"Yep." Alex replies
"Well good luck. Although your chances of beating me are zero." AJ smirks
"We'll see about that." Alex says
The Announcer steps into the middle of the battlefield. He raises the microphone
"Welcome to the Mossgreen Bug type tournament! We have eight tough trainers here all competing to win our Bug symbol! We have matched up our contestants for the first round! The winners of that round will then face off in the next round and the winners of that round will face each other in the finals! Due to the lack of a Pokemon Centre in this village this will be nonstop action with no healing in between!"
"That makes things difficult." Brock says, "Especially since these are Double battles. If one of your Pokemon faints and you win the round you'll go into the next one at a disadvantage."
"The less bugs the better." Misty mumbles
"May the first round contestants please step up!" The Announcer yells
Samurai and his opponent step up
"Go Pinsir and Butterfree!" Samurai tosses his pokeballs and his Pokemon pop out

"A Butterfree!" Ash yells
"I guess his Metapod must have evolved." Misty says
Samurai wins his match, AJ is now stepping up for his match
"I wonder which Pokemon AJ will use?" Brock says
"Remember all those Pokemon he had back at his gym? I remember seeing a Butterfree and a Beedrill." Ash says
"Yes but it's been awhile since we saw him. He might have caught more Pokemon since then." Misty says
AJ tosses his first pokeball and a Venomoth pops out
Venomoth Venomoth
"A Venomoth. Like the one Koga had." Ash says
AJ then tosses his second pokeball
Scyther!
"It's a Scyther." Brock says surprised, "Those are powerful."
Ash takes out his pokedex and scans Scyther
Scyther the Mantis Pokemon. A Bug/Flying type. With ninja-like agility and speed, it can create the illusion that there is more than one. Scyther evolves into Scizor. This Scyther is Male
"Battle begin!" The Referee yells
"Scyther Slash!" AJ cracks his whip and Scyther speeds forward so fast you can barely see it. It slashes the opponent's Metapod and Kakuna causing them to faint instantly. The crowd is shocked into silence
"Metapod! Kakuna!" The Bug Catcher yells shocked
"Metapod and Kakuna are unable to battle! The winner of the match is AJ!" The referee yells
"I can't believe it." Ash says shocked, "It's so fast."
"This is gonna be tough." Brock says
Alex is now preparing for his battle against Bug Maniac Brent and his two Surskit
"That looks kind of cute." Misty says, "Ash scan it."
Surskit the Pond Skater Pokemon. A Bug/Water type. From the tips of its feet, Surskit secretes an oil that enables it to walk on water as if it were skating. This Pokémon feeds on microscopic organisms in ponds and lakes. Surskit evolves into Masquerain. This Surskit is Female
"A Bug/Water type. That's like a mix of my worst nightmare and my dream Pokemon." Misty looks thoughtful, "I don't know how to feel about that."
"I like it." Ash says, "I want to catch one of my own."
"No!" Misty yells
Alex tosses his pokeballs and Parasect and Beedrill pop out
"Battle begin!" The referee yells
"Surskit use Agility." Brent yells
Both Surskit start scuttering around the battlefield causing their speed to increase
"Parasect use Spore!" Alex yells
Parasect starts releasing it's spore, however the flapping of Beedrill's wings cause the Spore to blow sideways and harmlessly away from the battlefield
"That's unfortunate." Alex says
Parasect! Parasect!
Parasect turns towards Beedrill angrily and starts yelling at it
Parasect! Para Para Parasect!
Beedrill buzzes around Parasect
Bzzz Bzzz
"Guys focus. We need to win this battle." Alex says
"Water Gun!" Brent yells and both Surskit fire their Water Guns hitting Beedrill
Bzzzz!
Beedrill slams into the ground
"Ah Beedrill!" Alex yells
"Now Quick Attack!" Brent yells and the two Surskit rush forward slamming into Parasect
Parasect!
Parasect is knocked backwards. The two Surskit stop, however one of them suddenly falls asleep
"Surskit what happened!" Brent yells
The other Surskit glances over confused. Beedrill rises back into the air
"Beedrill Twineedle now!" Alex yells
"Look out Surskit!" Brent yells
The awake Surskit dodges but the sleeping one is hit with Beedrill's Twineedles. Surskit is sent flying through the air and crashes into the ground hard. It has fainted
"Surskit is unable to battle!" The referee yells
"Why did it fall asleep!" Brent yells
"Effect Spore." Alex says
Parasect gets back into the action. Her and Beedrill surround Surskit
"It seems Surskit is caught between a rock and a hard place!" The Announcer yells
"Beedrill Twineedle! Parasect Slash!" Alex yells
The two Pokemon rush towards Surskit
"Surskit get out of there!" Brent yells
Surskit dodges and the two Pokemon strike each other
"No!" Alex yells
"They're not working together too well." Brock says concerned
Beedrill and Parasect glare at each other and get ready to attack
"Not each other!" Alex yells, "Take out that Surskit!"
"Surskit Bubblebeam!" Brent yells
Surskit fires a beam of bubbles towards Beedrill who flies out of the way. The attack hits Parasect
Parasectt!
"Ooh and Beedrill sacrifices it's own partner!" The Announcer yells
"Beedrill Poison Sting!" Alex yells
Beedrill's pincers turn a pinkish purple colour and it firing poisoned needles towards Surskit. Surskit speeds through the battlefield trying to dodge the attacks. It rushes past Parasect who lets out a Spore which it runs head first into. It starts slowing down as the attack takes effect

"Surskit no!" Brent yells
Beedrill hits both Surskit and Parasect with Poison Sting
Surskitttt!
Parasect!
Surskit faints
"Surskit is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Alex!" The Announcer yells
The crowd cheers. Alex lets out a relieved sigh. He returns his Pokemon
"We need to work on our teamwork."
"Our first match of the semifinals will now begin!" The Announcer yells and Samurai and AJ step onto the battlefield
"Hey where did Alex go?" Misty asks
"I think he's lecturing Beedrill and Parasect." Brock answers
Samurai calls out his Pinsir and Butterfree while AJ calls out his Venomoth and Scyther
"Battle begin!" The referee yells
Alex is lecturing his Pokemon. The two of them are glaring at each other
"You two need to learn to work together. If we want to win this tournament we can't be at each other's throats."
Bzzz Bzzz
Parasect tries to eat it's own mushroom
"Neither of you are listening to me are you?" Alex asks. He sighs, "Alright let's head don't want to miss our match"
Butterfree has already been knocked out and Pinsir is battling Venomoth and Scyther alone. Pinsir has managed to knock Venomoth to the ground
"Venomoth is cornered! This may be it for the Poison Moth Pokemon!" The Announcer yells
"Pinsir Vise Grip now!" Samurai yells
Pinsir moves to crush Venomoth between it's pincers but Scyther suddenly speeds in the way and blocks it with his scythes
"And Scyther makes the save!" The Announcer yells
"Pinsir apply more pressure!" Samurai yells and Pinsir starts pushing
"Hold it back Scyther!" AJ yells
Alex returns. He watches the battle curiously
"I don't know how long Scyther can hold Pinsir back!" The Announcer yells, "Pinsir's pincers are notoriously strong!"
"Shove it back Scyther!" AJ yells and Scyther suddenly pushes Pinsir backwards
"Impossible!" Samurai yells shocked
"Now Slash!"
Scyther slashes Pinsir with it's scythes cutting deeply into it's pincers. Pinsir cries out in pain
"Now finish it off with X-Scissor!" AJ cracks his whip and Scyther slashes it's scythes in an X pattern knocking Pinsir out. Samurai stares shocked
"Pinsir is unable to battle! The winner of the match is AJ!" The announcer yells
"Wow that Scyther is really something." Ash says amazed
"How does AJ keep getting all these powerful Pokemon?" Misty asks
"May the next two participants step up!" The Announcer yells
Alex and his opponent Jane step onto the battlefield
"Go Parasect and Beedrill!" Alex yells

"Go Larvesta!" Jane tosses her pokeball
Larvesta!
"And here is Jane's powerful Larvesta! Her second Pokemon Karrablast was too injured after the previous battle to continue!" The Announcer yells
"This should be easy for Alex." Ash says confidently, "He only has to take on one Pokemon!"
"A creepy Pokemon." Misty says as she eyes the Larvesta
"I don't know. Is it just me or does that girl seem rather confident for someone at a disadvantage?" Brock asks
"Battle begin!" The referee yells
"Alright Beedrill Parasect attack together!" Alex yells and the two Pokemon rush towards Larvesta
"Larvesta Ember!" Jane yells
"What!" Alex yells
A small ball of fire is shot from each of Larvesta's five horns
"Dodge!" Alex yells
His Pokemon manage to avoid the attack
"It can use fire attacks!" Ash yells shocked
Alex takes out his Pokedex and scans Larvesta
Larvesta the Torch Pokemon. A Bug/Fire type. This Pokémon was believed to have been born from the sun. When it evolves, its entire body is engulfed in flames. Larvesta evolves into Volcarona. This Larvesta is Female
"A bloody Bug/Fire type!" Alex yells
Jane smirks
"No wonder she's so confident." Brock says, "She has a massive advantage over Alex's Pokemon."
"You can do it Alex!" Ash yells
"Please tell me when it's over." Misty is covering her eyes
"Larvesta Flame Charge!" Jane yells and fire surrounds Larvesta's body. It charges towards Parasect
"Parasect Spore!" Alex yells
Parasect lets out the spore and Larvesta stops in it's tracks. It retreats away from the powder
"Ok we can keep it at a distance." Alex mumbles to himself, "Just have to be smart. Beedrill Poison Sting!"
Beedrill starts firing the poisoned needles at Larvesta hitting the Pokemon
Larvesta!
Larvesta is knocked backwards. It lands upright
"Larvesta Morning Sun!" Jane yells
Larvesta's body starts glowing a yellow colour and the sun shines down it. When the glow dies it looks much healthier
"And Larvesta is back to full strength! Parasect and Beedrill meanwhile are still tired out!" The Announcer yells
"Beedrill Poison Sting again!" Alex yells
Beedrill fires the Poison Sting at Larvesta who dodges. The attacks strike Parasect
"And Beedrill once again hitting Parasect! I can't tell if it's genuinely by accident or intentional at this point!" The Announcer yells
Alex groans, "I can't either."
Parasect glares at Beedrill. It fires Bullet Seed pummeling Beedrill
"Parasect stop!" Alex yells
Beedrill is driven into the ground
"And Parasect turns on it's own partner!" The Announcer yells, "This is maybe it for Alex's hopes of winning this tournament!"
"This is bad." Brock says
"What? What's happening?" Misty asks still covering her eyes
Beedrill gets back to it's feet and speeds toward Parasect angrily. It sticks out it's pincers preparing for a Twineedle
"Beedrill no!" Alex yells
"Larvesta Flare Blitz now!" Jane yells
Larvesta's body is surrounded by flames and it speeds straight towards Beedrill
"Look out!" Alex yells
Beedrill flies upwards avoiding the attack. Larvesta slams straight into Parasect
"Parasect!"
The crowd gasp as the flames severely burn Parasect
Parasect!
Parasect is sent flying across the battlefield and slams into the ground. It doesn't get back up
"And Parasect is out!" The Announcer yells, "All that fighting between it and Beedrill gave Larvesta the perfect opportunity to strike!"
Beedrill stares at Parasect shocked
"Poor Parasect." Ash says
Larvesta has been knocked back by the force of the attack. It slowly rises to it's feet

Beedrill suddenly hits it with Poison Sting
Larvesta!
"And Beedrill goes on the offensive!" The Announcer yells
"Larvesta use-" Jane tries to give commands but Beedrill is quicker. It strikes Larvesta with Twineedle and knocks it into the air. It then flies straight for Larvesta and starts repeatedly jabbing it with it's pincers
"Beedrill has gone into some kind of fury!" The Announcer yells
Beedrill drives Larvesta into the ground. It has fainted
"Larvesta is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Alex!" The referee yells
The crowd cheers.
"What happened?" Misty asks, "Did Alex win?"
Jane returns Larvesta and walks away
"We have our match up for the finals. Alex and AJ will take on each other immediately!" The Announcer yells
"This is going to be difficult." Brock says as AJ approaches the battlefield, "Parasect is still down after that attack. That means Beedrill will have to fight both of AJ's Pokemon by itself."
"And there's still that Scyther." Ash says
Alex watches AJ worriedly. He takes a deep breath
"Go Venomoth and Scyther!" AJ tosses his pokeballs and his Pokemon pop out
Moth Venomoth!

Beedrill buzzes around ready for battle. It glances back at the still injured Parasect
"Battle begin!" The referee raises his flags
"Scyther Slash!" AJ cracks his whip. Scyther rushes towards Beedrill
"Beedrill Toxic Spikes!" Alex yells
An orb at each end of Beedrill's pincers forms. It fires the orbs which fly up into the air and then explode. A bunch of pink coloured spikes fall from the sky and land all around the field
"And Beedrill neutralizes Scyther's speed!" The Announcer yells, "It will now have to be careful as it traverses the field or else it risks getting poisoned!"
"That would be smart but you forgot one thing!" AJ yells
"Yeah and what is that?" Alex asks
"Scyther take flight!" AJ cracks his whip and Scyther's wings start flapping. It rises into the air
"Shoot." Alex mumbles
"It's true!" The Announcer yells, "Scyther is capable of flying and can avoid the spikes entirely!"
"And just to rub it in further." AJ says, "Scyther Defog now!"
Scyther's scythes start glowing a light blue colour. It slashes forward causing a strong gust of wind to burst ahead and blow all the Toxic Spikes off the field
"AJ has Scyther clear the hazard entirely! It seems this trainer has complete control of the battlefield!" The Announcer yells
"Come on Alex." Ash says, "You can beat him."
Venomoth fires a Psybeam at Beedrill who dodges. Scyther suddenly speeds next to her and slashes her

Beedrill is knocked off balance
"Beedrill strike back!" Alex yells desperately
Beedrill wildly swings it's pincer managing to knock Scyther back. However Venomoth then hits it in the back with a Psybeam
"Beedrill!"
Beedrill slams into the ground. It flaps it's wings weakly
Bzz...Bzz...
"I think this is it for Beedrill!" The Announcer yells
"It will be after this." AJ cracks his whip against the ground as he gives his instructions, "Scyther use X-Scissor!"
Scyther flies down towards Beedrill. It slashes it's scythes downwards...and is suddenly struck on the side by a Bullet Seed
"What!" AJ yells
Scyther is blasted asides. Everyone turns and sees Parasect is back on it's feet
Para...sect...
"Parasect is back in action!" The Announcer yells
The crowd cheers wildly
"Yes!" Ash pumps his fist
Beedrill looks over at Parasect who limps towards Scyther
Parasect...Para...Para...sect
"Venomoth use Psybeam on that Parasect!"
"Parasect look out!" Alex yells
Beedrill suddenly fires a Poison Sting hitting Venomoth
Venomoth!
"And Beedrill returns the favour!" The Announcer yells
Beedrill flies back into the air
"We can still win this!" Alex yells
"Fat chance of that." AJ says, "Venomoth use Sludge Bomb!"
Venomoth spits out a bunch of sludge balls towards Parasect
"Beedrill use-" Alex is about to command when Beedrill suddenly flies in front of Parasect and takes the hit. Although it is hurt it shrugs the damage off
"And Beedrill shields Parasect!" The Announcer, "For those of you unaware Parasect is half Grass type and therefore weak to Poison based attacks!"
Parasect fires a Bullet Seed past Beedrill and towards Venomoth. Venomoth flies higher into the air to dodge it
"Beedrill Twineedle!" Alex yells
Beedrill speeds forward and strikes Venomoth with it's pincers
Moth!
"Venomoth use Psybeam!" AJ yells
Venomoth fires the Psybeam but Beedrill flies around it. It then jams it's pincers through Venomoth's wings
Venomoth!
It holds Venomoth in place
"Parasect Bullet Seed now!" Alex yells
Parasect fires the seeds at Venomoth and pummels it into unconsciousness. Beedrill then withdraws it's pincers and Venomoth slams into the ground
"Venomoth is unable to battle!" The referee yells
"It seems these Pokemon have finally found common ground!" The Announcer yells
AJ smacks his whip against the ground out of frustration
"And Alex takes the advantage!" The Announcer yells, "However he still has to deal with AJ's powerful Scyther."
"Get up Scyther!" AJ yells and Scyther gets back to it's feet

Beedrill hovers near Parasect
"We got this." Alex says

"Scyther use Double Team!" AJ yells
Scyther's body starts glowing and a bunch of copies appear around Parasect and Beedrill
"Goodluck figuring out which one is the real Scyther!" AJ yells
Alex looks thoughtful, "Parasect Spore all around!"
Parasect lets out the Spore. Beedrill flies higher into the air to avoid it
"Scyther fly now!" AJ yells and one of the Scyther takes flight causing all the doubles to disappear. Beedrill immediately rushes towards it and tries to strike at it with her pincers. Scyther raises it's one scythe to block the attack and then slashes at Beedrill's side
Bzzzz!
The two Pokemon start trading strikes with each other
"And these Pokemon are engaged in an intense aerial battle!" The Announcer yells
Beedrill flies side to side avoiding Scyther's slashes and then jabs forward with it's pincers. Scyther spins around blocking the jabs and forcing Beedrill to fall backwards
"Scyther Wing Attack now!"
Scyther's wings start glowing and it slams into Beedrill. The Poison Bee Pokemon is badly hurt and plummets from the sky
"Crap Beedrill!" Alex yells
"And Beedrill is heading straight for the ground!" The Announcer yells
Scyther speeds towards it with it's scythes outstretched
"Parasect Rage Powder now!" Alex yells
Parasect releases some red powder from it's mushroom and onto itself. Scyther smells this powder and it's eyes glow red. It immediately diverts from chasing Beedrill and flies straight towards Parasect
"Scyther what are you doing!" AJ yells, "I ordered you to attack Beedrill!"
Scyther heads straight towards Parasect
"Parasect Spore now!" Alex yells
Parasect lets out the Spore which Scyther flies straight into. The flap of it's wings starts slowing down and it lands on the ground before passing out
"Parasect puts Scyther to sleep! Will it be able to capitalize!"
"Get up Scyther!" AJ cracks his whip against the ground but Scyther is still sleeping. Beedrill meanwhile slams into the ground
Bzzz...
It forces itself up using it's pincers and weakly flies over
"Beedrill is still in this! Parasect's diversion may have kept it alive!" The Announcer yells
"Finish that Scyther off!" Alex yells
"Scyther get up!" AJ yells desperately
Beedrill and Parasect both strike at Scyther with their pincers. Scyther faints from the attack
"Scyther is unable to battle! The winner of the match is Alex!"
The crowd burst into cheers
"Woohoo!" Ash yells
"Is it over?" Misty asks
"Yes it's over Misty." Brock says and Misty uncovers her eyes
"An amazing comeback from Alex gives him the win!" The Announcer yells
Alex cheers, "Haha! Well done Beedrill and Parasect!"

AJ approaches Alex
"Congratulations Alex. You beat me fair and square." AJ says
The two shake hands
"A good show of sportsmanship from our competitors." The Announcer says
"At the Pokemon League though things will be different." AJ says before walking away. The Announcer walks over to Alex
"As proof of your victory I present to you the Bug symbol."
Alex takes the symbol, "Alright I won the Bug symbol!"
The Pokegang are preparing to depart Mossgreen. Brock is looking over the map while everyone else is packing
"Before we carry on to Matcha City I'd like to make a stop." Brock says
"Hmm where Brock?" Misty asks
"Just to a town nearby." Brock says, "I think it'd be a lot of fun."
"I'm up for fun." Ash says excitedly, "Let's go."
Alex has been checking on his egg. He moves to put it in his bag when it starts glowing
