Misty: The Song of Jigglypuff
It's been about a week since the Pokegang departed Mossgreen village. In that time they and a wild Snorlax had helped return water to a dying town, and dealt with a civil war between two rival gyms. Now they're travelling through the desert. They have been walking non stop for the whole day and it's currently late at night. They are trudging up a hill
"So where's that town you were talking about Brock?" Ash asks tiredly
"It's dark already. You don't think we're going to camp out in a place like this do you?" Misty asks tiredly
"Chill out. It's got to be around here somewhere." Brock says
They reach the top of the hill and see a bustling city below them. Despite the fact that's it practically the middle of the night the whole city is up and about
"I'm guessing that's it." Alex says
Eevee!
He reaches up to where Eevee is resting on his head and scratches it's chin
"Let's go!" Ash yells and dashes down towards the city
The group are walking through the busy streets. The whole city is full of flashing lights and billboards. There are plenty of stores and casinos all around them. Alex's eyes are shining as he looks around
"This place is amazing!" He yells
"Where are we Brock?" Ash asks
"This is Neon Town." Brock explains
"Neon Town? Why does that name sound familiar." Misty mumbles
"This is where that weird magician dude wanted to come." Alex says, "I'm so glad we're here."
"Why is it so busy here?" Ash asks
"The city never sleeps." Brock answers, "Everything here is open all day and all night."
"They never sleep?" Misty asks surprised
"Very little yeah." Brock says, "This is probably the most active city in all of Kanto."
"But wait if it's a city then why is it called Neon Town?" Misty asks
"Oh who cares. Let's go gamble!" Alex yells. He is about to run off when some guy walks right into him
"Ooof." Alex groans
"Hey watch where you're going!" The guy yells
"You're the one who bumped into me!" Alex yells
"Hey Alex calm down." Brock says
"You want to go!" The guy yells
Alex grabs his baseball bat and prepares to attack the guy when they hear a police siren. Officer Jenny speeds over to them on her motorbike
"Break it up! Break it up!" She yells, "There's no fighting here!"
"That little runt's not worth it." The guy growls and starts walking away
"Yeah well fu-" Ash covers Alex's mouth
"You kids shouldn't be walking the streets at night!" Jenny yells at them
"I'm sorry Officer Jenny we just got into town." Ash says
"Then you go find yourself a hotel or something! People around here are pretty short tempered!" Officer Jenny yells
"Short tempered?" Ash asks confused
Pi?
"They're on edge because they stay out all night and don't get enough sleep!" Officer Jenny yells, "You kids should find a hotel, get a good night's sleep and mind your own business."
"What do you think you're doing!" They hear someone yelling further down the street
"Another one!" Officer Jenny hops onto her bike and speeds off.
"She's so lovely." Brock says
"Not the word I'd use Brock." Misty says
Alex forces Ash's hand off his mouth, "I was going to say fudge you know."
Team Rocket have also arrived in Neon Town. They are walking along the street just soaking in the atmosphere
"I just love all these lights." Meowth says
The same guy who bumped into Alex bumps into James
"Hey watch it!" James yells
"Oh yeah!" The guys suddenly leaps onto James
"Ouch! Ouch! Get him off me!" James yells
"You walk into me and then you start complaining!" The guy yells
"Hey you walked into him!" Jessie yells
A giant woman suddenly bumps into Jessie. She is literally knocked to the ground
"Oww." Jessie groans. She stares up at the woman terrified
"That hurt." The woman says angrily. She literally picks Jessie up like she's a doll and starts manhandling her
"Ow! Ow!" Jessie yells
Meowth watches the whole thing terrified, "I think we should prepare for trouble!"
The next day the Pokegang exit the Pokemon Centre and are shocked to see the entire town is already wide awake...and arguing in the middle of the street
"You weren't kidding Brock. These people really don't sleep." Alex says
Officer Jenny is running around trying to break up all the fights, but more keep popping up
"Let's just keep moving." Ash says
"Yeah this place makes me nervous." Misty agrees
They head out of the town and into the woods nearby
"I'm just saying it's weird that there's a forest right in the middle of the desert." Alex says
"I'm not the one who designed the landscape." Brock replies annoyed
"I'm just glad it's quiet out here." Misty says
"Yeah it was so loud in Neon Town I couldn't get any sleep." Ash says
Pikachu
Eevee!
A Jigglypuff emerges from the bushes ahead of them and hops onto a tree stump
"It's a Jigglypuff!" Alex exclaims
The group approach it slowly. It smiles happily
"It's so cute." Misty squeals, "I've always wanted a Jigglypuff."
"I thought you only liked Water Pokemon?" Brock asks
"Tell that to Oddish." Alex replies
"Water Pokemon are my favourite. But I like other Pokemon too." Misty says, "I'm gonna catch that Jigglypuff."
She grabs a pokeball, "Go Star-"
Psyduck pops out
Psyduck?
"I wanted Staryu not you!" Misty yells and returns Psyduck, "Alright go Staryu!"
Hiya!
Jigglypuff is watching them curiously
Jiggly?
"Rapid Spin!" Misty points ahead and Staryu starts spinning. It flies through the air and slams into Jigglypuff who is sent flying into a tree
Pufff!
Jigglypuff lands on the ground and rolls forward. It starts crying
"What's wrong?" Misty asks confused
"It looks like it's crying." Ash says
"Maybe it's crying because you hit it in the face with a starfish." Alex says sarcastically
"Now I feel bad." Misty mumbles
"I wonder why it didn't fight back though." Brock says, "You'd think it would use Sing or something?"
Ash pulls out his Pokedex and scans Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff the Balloon Pokemon. A Normal/Fairy type. When its huge eyes light up, it sings a mysteriously soothing melody that lulls its enemies to sleep. Jigglypuff is the evolved form of Igglybuff and evolves into Wigglytuff through use of a Moon Stone. This Jigglypuff is Female
"I've always wanted to hear a Jigglypuff sing in person." Misty says
"Even if it would put you to sleep?" Alex asks
"They only do that when they're in danger." Brock says, "We should be fine."
Misty kneels so she's on eye-level with Jigglypuff. The balloon is glaring at her and has puffed out it's cheeks
"Could you sing for us Jigglypuff?" Misty asks
Jigglypuff huffs and turns the other way
"What's the matter?" Ash asks
"Maybe it's still mad that Misty attacked it." Alex says
"Please sing us a song Jigglypuff?" Misty asks
Jigglypuff sadly kicks the ground
Puff...
"Is something wrong?" Misty asks
Jigglypuff turns towards her
Jigglypuff...
It shakes it's head
"I think it's saying that it can't sing." Brock says
Jigglypuff nods sadly
"Oh so that's why it didn't attack." Ash realizes
"Oh I'm sorry I bothered you little Jigglypuff." Misty says
Jigglypuff suddenly leaps into her arms and hugs her
Puff! Jigglypuff!
"I still think it's cute but who wants a Jigglypuff that can't sing." Misty thinks out loud
Puff!
Jigglypuff starts crying
"Oh I'm so sorry!" Misty yells
"Nice going Misty." Alex says, "You made it cry again."
"Hey I know. How about we try and help this Jigglypuff learn to sing." Misty suggests
"Good idea." Ash agrees, "We can't just leave it here alone."
This cheers Jigglypuff up
Jiggly!
Team Rocket are spying on them from nearby
"It looks like those kids found a Jigglypuff." James says
"A Jigglypuff's songs have the power to put people to sleep." Jessie says
"Then I've got a great idea." Meowth says, "We get that Jigglything to sing to all the people in Neon Town. Then once they're all napping we can swipe anything and everything we want."
"That's brilliant Meowth!" Jessie and James exclaim
Team Rocket leap out of the bushes
"Hold it right there twerps!" Jessie yells
"It's Team Rocket!" Ash yells
"I was wondering when you guys would show up." Alex says
"We're here for that Jigglypuff." Meowth points at Jigglypuff
Jiggly?
"Why do you want Jigglypuff?" Brock asks confused
"Jigglypuff's gonna sing Team Rocket right to the top!" James yells
Jigglypuff covers it's mouth in shock
"Now hand it over or things get nasty." Jessie and James reach for their pokeballs
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt." Ash says
Pika...
"Wait no that's not fair!" Jessie and James yells
Ka...
"This is gonna suck." Meowth gulps
Chuuuuuu!
Pikachu fires the Thunderbolt and sends Team Rocket blasting off
"Alright so what's the plan to help Jigglypuff?" Ash asks
Misty is teaching Jigglypuff the solfège syllables
"Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do!" Misty finishes, "There. You see how I control the pitch of my voice?"
Jigglypuff nods
"Wow you're a great voice coach Misty." Ash says
"Thanks Ash." Mist replies. She bends down
"Alright Jigglypuff your turn."
Jigglypuff tries but can't get any sound to come out of it's throat
Puff...
It looks down sadly
"I don't think it's working." Alex says
Pikachu clears it's throat
Pi Ka Pi Ka Pi Ka Pi Pi
"That's very good Pikachu." Ash praises his Pokemon who blushes
Pika
Jigglypuff puffs up angrily
"Ash you're hurting Jigglypuff's feelings." Misty says upset
While they are distracted Jigglypuff sneaks up behind Pikachu and kicks it
Chu!
Pikachu falls to the ground. He looks around confused but Jigglypuff has already gone back to Misty
Chu?
"Alright so that didn't work. Any other ideas?" Alex asks
"I have an idea." Ash pulls out a balloon and starts blowing it up
"Um Ash what are you doing?" Misty asks
Ash finishes blowing up the balloon, "Alright Jigglypuff you try."
"Oh I get it." Brock says, "We're trying to increase Jigglypuff's lung strength."
"Ah. I guess there's a brain in there after all." Misty says surprised
"Hey!" Ash yells
Misty hands the balloon to Jigglypuff. The Pokemon puts the end of the balloon into it's mouth and the air immediately rushes into it causing it to puff up
Puff!
It then goes flying around the forest while deflating
Puffff!
"Ah Jigglypuff!" Misty chases after it
"This is my life now." Alex groans
Brock looks thoughtful, "I want to give something a shot."
He digs in his bag and pulls out a small vial, "This is a sample of Cassandra's miracle potion. Maybe it could help?"
"It's worth a shot." Ash shrugs
Misty comes back holding Jigglypuff in her arms. Brock approaches them
"Here Jigglypuff drink this. Hopefully it'll heal your throat."
Jigglypuff opens it's mouth and Brock pours the liquid down it's throat
Puff...
"How do you feel Jigglypuff?" Misty asks
Jigglypuff makes a few sounds in it's throat. It opens it's mouth and tries to sing
Jigggglyyypuff Jigggllllllypuffffff
"Hooray!" Misty cheers
"Yeah woohoo!" Ash cheers
Everyone celebrates happily
"I can't believe that actually worked." Alex says surprised
"Now you can sing your song for us Jigglypuff." Misty says
Jigglypuff nods and hops onto the tree stump. It clears it's throat
Team Rocket meanwhile are making their way back with a boom mic and a recorder
"If we can't steal Jigglypuff then we'll just steal it's voice." Jessie says
"Have we really sunk this low?" James asks, "To the level of musical piracy?"
"We'll go as low as we need to." Meowth says determined
Jigggglyyypuff Jiggglllllllllypuffffff Jigglypuff Jigg Jigglllllypuff
Alex yawns, "Is it just me or..."
He glances around and sees that Brock and Pikachu have both fallen over asleep while Ash and Misty have slumped against each other. He hears snoring on his head and sees Eevee is fast asleep. He then slumps against a tree
Team Rocket have set up position
"Quick hit record before-" Meowth yawns before he can finish his sentence. The three of them fall asleep
Jigglypuff notices everyone is sleeping
Puff?
It hops over to Ash and Misty and taps them both
Puff? Puff?
It puffs it's cheeks out angrily and starts digging through Brock's bag. It pulls out a marker
Jigglypuff!
It starts drawing on everyone's faces
Puff! Puff!
It stops and admires it's handy work
Jigglypuff!
It then hears snoring coming from the bushes nearby
Jigglypuff?
It heads over to investigate and comes across Team Rocket fast asleep. It tries to slap all three members awake but they're still fast asleep
Puff!
It pulls off the lid of the marker and starts drawing on their faces. It giggles once it's finished
Jigglypuff
The Pokegang wake up from their nap. They all stretch
"That was a nice nap." Misty says
Brock nods, then he notices the drawings on Ash and Misty's faces
"Ah! What happened to your faces!"
Ash and Misty glance at each other confused, "Ah!"
Pikachu!
Alex rubs the marker off of Eevee's face, "My poor Eevee."
Eevee doesn't seem to mind too much
Ee Eevee Vee!
Everyone cleans the marker off their faces. Misty glances over and sees Jigglypuff is upset
"What's wrong Jigglypuff?" Misty asks
Jiggly!
Jigglypuff turns her back on them
"Why is it mad?" Brock asks
"Maybe it's mad because we fell asleep while it was singing." Misty suggests
"No way. Why would it be mad about something dumb like that?" Ash asks
"I mean I wouldn't be too happy if people fell asleep while I was performing for them." Alex says
"Yeah that would be really upsetting." Brock says
"I guess I'd be mad too." Ash admits
Misty picks up Jigglypuff, "We're sorry Jigglypuff."
Puff!
"I got it. Maybe some Pokemon wouldn't fall asleep." Brock says, "Go everyone!"
Brock tosses his pokeballs and all his Pokemon pop out
"Good idea Brock. Go my steadies!" Misty tosses her pokeballs and her Pokemon pop out
Alex and Ash call out their Pokemon as well. Ash's Charmeleon looks around annoyed and goes to sleep
"No Charmeleon wake up!" Ash whines
"I don't think Charmeleon is going to be much help." Alex says and Ash returns him
"Ok everyone I want you all to listen to Jigglypuff sing." Brock says, "We'll be back in a few minutes."
Ash, Alex, Brock, Misty, Pikachu and Eevee walk away. The rest of the Pokemon sit and wait for Jigglypuff to start singing
Ma Machop?(Why are we doing this?)

Rhyhorn rolls it's eyes
Rhy Rhyhorn Rhy(This seems like a waste of time)
Squirt! Squirtle(Shh! I want to hear it sing)
Jigglypuff starts singing
"They all fell asleep!" Ash yells surprised
"Wait look!" Misty points at Psyduck who is standing off to the side. His eyes are wide open, "Psyduck's still awake!"
They all head over to Psyduck
"Psyduck heard the whole song!" Ash says excitedly
"Good old Psyduck. You finally did something right." Misty says
Jigglypuff looks at Psyduck and then puffs up angrily
Puff!
"What are you angry about now Jigglypuff? Psyduck listened to the whole thing?" Misty asks confused
Puff!
Jigglypuff looks away. Misty glances at Psyduck who hasn't moved or reacted once. She pokes him and he falls over
"You dumb duck! You're just sleeping with your eyes open!"
"AH!" Team Rocket have awoken from their nap and realized that their faces have been drawn on
"Who did this!" Jessie yells
"I don't know. The last thing I remember was Jigglypuff started singing and-" James is interrupted
"Quick check the tape!" Meowth yells
They press the play button on the tape but all they get is their own snoring. They slump over depressed
"It's just us snoring." James groans
"I guess we come up with a new plan." Jessie groans
"What else can we do for it?" They hear Ash's voice. The three of them sneak over to eavesdrop. The Pokegang are discussing their options
"It must be frustrating having such a beautiful voice and not having anyone listen to it." Misty says
"I got it!" Brock declares, "We can have Jigglypuff sing to all the people in Neon Town!"
"That's great!" Misty exclaims, "Since those people never sleep anyway they'll be able to listen to the whole song."
"I don't think..." Alex is about to say something but changes his mind, "You know what. Nevermind go ahead it's a great idea."
"You hear that Jigglypuff. You get to sing to all the people in Neon Town."
Jigglypuff!
The group walk off. Team Rocket are struggling to hold their laughter
"Those fools are gonna do exactly what we wanted to do." Jessie says
"With enemies like that who needs friends?" James asks smugly
The group have been asking around Neon Town for a stage or something but everyone has been turning them away
"There's nothing like that in the whole town now go away I'm busy!" The store owner yells and kicks them out
"He doesn't have to be so rude." Misty mumbles annoyed
"Yeah the people in this town are starting to really upset me." Ash growls
A giant truck suddenly pulls up to them. A woman dressed in Rockstar gear and with spikey red hair sticks her head out of the window
"Hey we heard you kids were looking for a stage right?" The Rockstar asks
"Uh yeah we are." Misty replies
A man also dressed in Rockstar gear and with blue hair exits the truck
"You can use ours. We have no use for this anymore." The male rockstar says
"Really? Wow that's great!" Ash shouts
"We finally met someone in Neon Town who's nice." Misty says
The Pokegang have set up the stage for Jigglypuff to sing. They're hooked up a bunch of speakers and given Jigglypuff a microphone
"Now everyone in town will be able to hear you." Misty says
Jigglypuff hops up and down excitedly
Jiggly Jigglypuff!
Team Rocket are watching from nearby. They giggle and pull out some ear plugs
"Now we just wait for everyone to fall asleep and we swipe all the Pokemon." Meowth says. They plug their ears
Jigglypuff takes a deep breath and starts singing
Jigggglyyypuff Jiggglllllllllypuffffff Jigglypuff Jigg Jigglllllypuff
Ash yawns, "I'm feeling drowsy."
Jigggglyyypuff Jigglypuff Jigga Jigglypufff
"Yeah...me...too..." Misty leans her head on Ash's shoulder and dozes off
Puffff Jigglypufffff Jigglllypuffffff
"Hey what's that noise?" Officer Jenny asks
"I don't know...but..." A man yawns, "I'm feeling really...tired...all of a sudden..."
Everyone in town starts falling asleep
Jigggglyyypuff Puff Puff Jigglypuff
Team Rocket yawn and lean against each other
"I don't think..." James falls asleep before finishing his sentence
"Our ears aren't..." Jessie yawns
"Plugged enough." Meowth finishes before they all fall asleep
Jigglypuff finishes singing and takes a bow...and then notices literally everyone is sleeping
Puff!
She puffs up and pulls out her marker before going around and drawing on everyone's faces
The rise of the sun causes everyone to stir
"Mmm good morning." Misty says
"Good morning." Ash replies
They blink a few times
"Oh yeah Jigglypuff!" They realize. They look around and see everyone starting to wake up. They all have drawings on their face
"It looks like everyone fell asleep." Brock says
"Yeah I could have told you that was gonna happen." Alex rolls his eyes
"Poor Jigglypuff." Misty says. She looks around but doesn't see it, "I wonder where it is."
"It must have run off after the concert." Ash says
"I wanted to tell you I'm sorry for bumping into you the other day." They hear a man say
They look over and see a bunch of people in town are going around apologizing to each other
"What's going on?" Ash asks confused
"I don't know. Everyone is being so nice and it's freaking me out." Alex says
"Hey kid." They hear a voice and look down to see the man who ran into Alex two nights ago
"Oh it's you." Alex says surprised
"Yeah I just wanted to say I'm sorry for running into you the other night and then blaming you for it. It was uncool of me and I hope you can forgive me." The man says
"Yeah sure it's cool." Alex replies
"That's great. Enjoy your day." He walks off
"That was weird." Misty says
"Hmm. I guess everyone's in a better mood now thanks to finally getting a good night's sleep." Brock theorizes
"That makes sense." Ash says, "They finally got to catch up on all that sleep they were missing so they're not grumpy anymore."
"Let's leave before everyone gets moody again." Alex says
"Right." They head off towards the woods
"Do you think we'll run into Jigglypuff again?" Ash asks
"I hope so. I really wanted to catch it." Misty says depressed
"Cheer up Misty. I have a feeling we'll see Jigglypuff again one day." Brock says
Jigglypuff notices them walking along
Jiggly?
She decides to follow them

Misty: It's really adorable. Why didn't you let me catch it!
Me: Too important for the plot, but maybe next time?
Misty: You suck you know that. When was the last time I even caught a Pokemon?
Alex: Maybe you should try and actually look for Pokemon
Misty: We only ever go to forests that are full of creepy bugs!
Me: Well you don't have to worry about bugs next chapter. No forests this time
