"Heeeey," a soft voice whispered. Cobra stirred and squinted his one eye open. Lucy looked down at him, a soft smile on her face as she gave a tiny wave. "Did you hear me before I arrived or was that a surprise?"
Cobra shrugged, glad that his arms covered his face as he couldn't hide a grin. "Nah, you're pretty loud as they come, always thinking, thinking, thinking…" He stopped. Was that going to imply something it shouldn't? But Lucy only laughed at his statement. She felt…cheerier than yesterday, although her face still bore subtle marks of fatigue.
"Well, maybe I should do less of it then." She sat down next to him. "It is unfair that you can scare me and I can't scare you."
"Well, maybe you should practice more, take lessons from Macbeth. Then, one day, you can give me the fright of my life."
"Really? I can't see you letting anyone get the jump on you…except for Mira, of course, but she's special."
"She's special all right…es-specially insane."
Lucy burst into a fit of chortles at the attempt at a pun while Cobra's stomach settled at the pleasant noise. Things were just fine. Good, even. But, what about– A nagging thought was mercilessly silenced before it took it's first soundless breath.
