"Oh…it really is different!" Lucy exclaimed. She appeared delighted by the sign, a state of being Cobra sorely wished for. Then, clapping her hands together, "Mirajane will be happy that it's done!"
Cobra looked at her, puzzled. "What do you mean? Are you saying…" He looked at the sign again and groaned. "…This is a commission?"
"Close! Remember that friend, Perse? Mirajane was lamenting the sign to her when she started, and Perse said she would happily make her a nicer one to use. Apparently, she's a really good artist." She looked up at the sign again. "Well, good is putting it a bit lightly. Gosh, if this is what she can whip out in a few days for a back alley place…" Further murmuring commenced on wondering if Perse was available for interior design, portraits, and the like, as Cobra put a thumb to his head in agony.
So it wasn't any grand conspiracy, just that Perse girl doing a favor for the demon. It was just something silly like that, no need to get so worked up over it.
But, for some reason, the encounter from yesterday still rang in his mind. He glanced at Lucy, who was still lost in her own thoughts. It wouldn't be a bad time to pry about if this Perse had mentioned anyone else, or simply admitting that part of the reason he felt it strange that the sign had changed was connected with the strange encounter. When he tried to find the words to explain how he felt, his tongue seemed to be caught on the roof of his mouth. Even attempting the word "hey" felt as if he was rolling a rock up a hill, only for it to crash back down before it got all the way up.
So they stared at the sign. Lucy mumbling, Cobra fumbling.
