Cobra remained still. Perhaps the intruder would wise up and remove themselves from the tent before a bloodbath occurred. The rustling stopped, and Cobra was aware of another presence inside the tent. One whose thoughts were largely cut off from Cobra, not by Cobra's own doing but by the intruder himself. Even without thoughts, he recognized that pattern of footsteps anywhere.

He gritted his teeth. Did Macbeth think he could drag him out by force? If so, he wasn't going down without a fight. Perhaps he'd miscalculated, and it was actually Macbeth who'd grown weary of his actions from yesterday and was here to punish him for it. He'd certainly been annoyed yesterday. Or Jellal could have sent him in while he dealt with other problems. Well, he still didn't care. Unless the apocalypse has happened right then and there, Cobra wasn't budging.

Bracing for the first attack, Cobra readied for a tugging, tearing sensation in an attempt to batter him about or roll him around to face Macbeth. Instead, all that followed was silence.

For a little while, he wondered if Macbeth was attempting psychological warfare on him. He knew how to hide his thoughts, and his magic made it hard to hear and avoid since he wasn't physically attacking him. It'd been a rough couple of days; Cobra wouldn't be surprised if Macbeth wanted to make him sweat a bit first.

But as the silence stretched on, Cobra's idea of what it meant gradually changed. This wasn't a silence charged with an anticipation of action. Instead, it was one that, the longer it went on, the more awkward it felt. Several times Cobra heard the intake of breath, as if Macbeth was about to speak, although no words came out. He also heard the rubbing of fingers against hair, something Macbeth only did when he was bored…or nervous. What on Earthland did this man have to be nervous about?

"…I may have gone too far this time," he said. The words were just above a whisper. "I…never imagined any of this would happen, obviously."

The words gave Cobra pause. It couldn't be…was Macbeth trying to…apologize to him?
