The four of them weaved through town, sticking to side streets for the benefit of the two technically still criminals in their midst. Their destination was obvious–the love doctor building. It was now just past noon, and the sky looked brighter, although clouds still blanketed it in a thin sheet. The light and warmer weather had the regular people out; which included those shopping for lunch. Cobra's stomach grumbled at the smells of various street food and restaurants open. Seafood and exotic dishes dominated the area, enticing hungry passerby's like himself. Normally, they wouldn't have affected him so, but after the events of yesterday and essentially fasting afterward, he recognized the hollow feeling in his stomach.
Lucy–kind, merciful Lucy–decided to stop for one of the vendor's snacks, some meat and veggie kebabs, claiming she was "starved" after all of the research she'd been doing. At least he'd been able to pay her back after she bought one from him. It was embarrassing, but she insisted he not expose himself unnecessarily. Mirajane bought one for herself and one for Macbeth.
The three stood underneath a shaded rim, eating their quick meal. Cobra glanced at Mirajane and Macbeth, who stood farther away from him and Lucy but close enough to talk to each other. He shot a "pst" at Lucy, who looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
He gestured discreetly behind him, where the others were. Her head tilted. Watch, he mouthed. The two of them began casually staring at them.
Macbeth ate more delicately than Cobra, although not by a whole lot. He could pretend to be refined all he wanted, but he was still someone who'd eaten food off the ground, same as Cobra. Before he could bite off the next chunk, he turned towards Mirajane and murmured something. Mirajane responded with a nodding head, and soon the two tore off a piece of their kebab that the other didn't have and traded, eating the other's piece. Maybe it was just Cobra, but he swore he saw that same dopey grin return on Macbeth's face.
He looked to Lucy to see if she caught it. She looked between the pair and him and shrugged. Cobra forced himself not to facepalm. He made his hands form a heart and jerked his head towards them. A raised eyebrow and muffled chuckle were her only response. She thought he was just messing around.
Cobra sighed. They were no doubt being cautious now that Lucy was around. At least he knew he wasn't completely crazy for not initially thinking that was the case. He'd have to explain to her in more detail later. He still would like someone to come up with some revenge plans.
Once they all finished, they tossed the trash and made their way to where it all began.
