"Anyways," Mirajane continued, "that was how I acquired the building. Yesterday, Macbeth and I investigated around the perimeter of the building and inside where people conversed with you. There wasn't anything of note on the outside front entrance."

"Inside was a different story," Macbeth chimed in. Mirajane nodded. "We could detect an odd magical presence within the space."

"What kind?" Lucy asked. "What did it feel like?"

"…It's too faint to tell exactly. It might even just be the after-effects of a previous spell, but whatever it is, it's concentrated on the chair." Macbeth folded his arms. "The rest of the room is fine."

"And I did not enchant it or ask anyone else to enchant it. It should be just an ordinary chair," Mirajane added. "I was about to sit down in it when Macbeth warned me not to. I'm glad I didn't. We weren't able to pinpoint exactly what about the chair was magical. Whoever did it, spell or otherwise, was precise enough that if we weren't already proficient in magical detection, we might not have noticed at all. I think it's safe to assume that if it's coming from the chair, and most people sat down, then that's where the change happened."

Cobra found himself nodding. That all made sense to him. "Anything else?" he asked.

Mirajane shook her head. "Nothing. We combed every inch, but couldn't find anything else. Adding to that a few…other events and we were both so exhausted that we decided to stop for the day. I closed up the shop and made it so no one could go through the entrance, so no one should have been in there since us yesterday."
