The two appeared to be done with their points. A short silence followed. Cobra found himself getting ready to speak his piece when he noticed Lucy fidgeting where she sat. She glanced at him. He motioned with his hand. She gave him a small smile.
"It's true that I don't believe I have much," she began, pulling out a notebook and flipping through it. "But perhaps that comes from an inverse problem; we gathered so much information these past few days it's hard to tell which parts could be useful. There was something that occurred yesterday that helped bring the rest of my insights into frightening clarity…"
Lucy proceeded to tell Mirajane and Macbeth about their encounter yesterday with Minerva. Cobra remembered the fact that Lucy hadn't seen them since before their fight yesterday. This was all new information, at least for one of them, given Mirajane's worried face while Macbeth glanced between him and Lucy with a scowl.
"Given everything we saw–and heard–from Minerva, we concluded that something was causing her to view everyone as the same. In other words, she couldn't distinguish friend from foe. That didn't mean she treated me with contempt, any more than she treated me favorably," Lucy said. "I wasn't able to follow up with Minerva after our initial conversation, but I was able to talk to a few more people that day." She flipped through her notebook, reading off the notes. "'Lack of concern for what others around them felt about their actions. Treating familiar and new people the same. A lack of attachment to people in general.'" The notebook snapped shut. "I don't know any of the people listed as well as Minerva, but I suspect that whatever has happened to them happened equally. Now that I know about the chair, we can probably say that most, or possibly all, were affected sometime after sitting down in or being near it. Their effects didn't start immediately, but after a day or so, matching with when the rumors started."
"I just can't believe…and you're sure they weren't charmed?" Mirajane asked.
Lucy's eyes flicked to Cobra. Looks like it was his turn now.
