AN1: Hello all and welcome to another chapter. I wanted to release this sooner but Hurricane Francine knocked power out for a few days and I also didn't have internet but here we are with another chapter. Thank you to those who are supporting and the tiny few who are reviewing. Even the one guest who said this was mid as it is a rewrite of a story but naruto as the main character. Perhaps concerning Tomoe and Mio but everything else is different, anyway let's continue on Naruto adventures.

#Kühl Region - Arquis#
Three months have elapsed since naruto and company have come to arquis to get him promoted but find he would need to wait the six months or get a field promotion but things have been quiet, though they were spreading the name of uzu at a slow and steady rate. Naruto is currently astride on liam through the blackstone mountains, heading to the town of Kiv and investigating several disappearances. Liam's hooves are beating a steady rhythm against the winding trails that snake through the range. The towering peaks loom overhead, their shadows casting a somber veil over the rugged landscape, as if nature itself is holding its breath in anticipation.
"How ominous" naruto thought, the crisp mountain air stinging his lungs with each breath but the scent of pine and the faint hint of snow. He tightens his grip on the reins with his gaze fixed upon the distant horizon, where the quaint town of kiv awaits his arrival. The guild commissioned a job to investigate a series of disappearances, namely travelers and townsfolk alike vanishing without a trace, their fates shrouded in mystery. Naruto decided to take the job as a chance to perhaps gain a field promotion or continue to spread his name. Liam navigates the treacherous mountain paths as naruto's mind wanders to his loves, his lips curving into a wistful smile. He could almost hear mio's teasing laughter echoing off the rocky cliffs, her boundless energy a constant source of amusement.
"Bet you wish you had me along for this little excursion.. Eh Naruto.. Who knows what kind of trouble you'll stumble into without my watchful eye" mio's voice would chime, playful and unabashed. He could envision tomoe's smiling face in his mind's eyes and with her brow also furrowed in that familiar expression of concern.
"Recklessness breeds unnecessary danger.. Though as a Shinobi I relish the challenge" tomoe would caution, her tone stern yet tinged with affection. Isane's gentle voice would then interject as a soothing balm amidst the banter, "Have faith in Naruto's abilities.. He has faced countless challenges before and emerged victorious.. This shall be no different.. Be careful Love" she would say, her words carrying the weight of unwavering trust. Naruto chuckles softly to himself and his heart swelling with fondness for the dear women in is life. Though they were separated by the vastness of the mountains, their bond remained unbroken and a tether that transcends physical distances.
"Alright Liam.. Let's get this done and back home" naruto muses, as the winding trail continues its now descent. The first glimpses of kiv come into view, the quaint village nestled amidst the shadow of the peaks like a jewel cradled in the earth's embrace. Smoke curls lazily from the chimneys, hinting at the warmth and comfort that awaits within the sturdy stone homes. Yet beneath the idyllic facade is a sense of unease that lingers, a palpable tension that seems to permeate the very air. Naruto and liam pass through the wooden archway of the village, drawing curious glances from the townsfolk. Naruto's gaze sweeps over the sights, searching for any clues that might unravel the mystery of the disappearances. A woman emerges from a modest shop with bags, her face etched with worry lines that belied her years.
"Stranger... What brings you here" the woman calls out, her voice trembling with trepidation. Naruto reins in liam with his expression calm yet resolute and shows his dogtags, "I am an Adventurer sent from Arquis.. I've heard of strange occurrences plaguing your village and I mean to uncover the truth" he replies, his tone steady and reassuring. The woman's eyes widen and a flicker of hope kindling within their depths, "Then you must speak with the elders.. They know more than any of us.. Though their tongues have grown heavy with fear" she urges, gesturing towards the largest dwelling as its sturdy walls are adorned with intricate carvings.
"Lead the way" naruto said, guiding liam to follow her with a gentle tap to his side. They follow the woman's hurried steps as naruto's mind races with possibilities, each more outlandish than the last, yet he knows better than to dismiss any theory outright. The shadows seem to lengthen as they approach the elders' abode, casting an ominous pall over the weathered structures as naruto fluidly dismounts and ties liam to a post with a pat to the black stallion's head. The woman ushers naruto into the elders' abode, a somber silence hanging over the modest interior. A group of weathered faces turn towards the newcomer, their eyes reflecting a mixture of wariness and faint hope.
"Elders.. This is Naruto.. An Adventurer sent by the guild in Arquis.. He seeks to unravel the mystery that plagues our village" the woman spoke, her voice carrying a reverent tone. Naruto steps forward with his gaze sweeping over the gathered elders and bow of his head "Greetings Honorable Elders.. I've come to offer my aid in unraveling this enigma" he said, his tone respectful yet firm. An elderly woman with her face lined by the weight of countless winters nods slowly, "Aye stranger.. A dark shadow has fallen over our village.. A specter of dread that grows stronger with each passing moon" she rasps, her voice trembling ever so slightly. A wizened man that has his frame stooped with age manages to lean forward with his knuckles whitening as he grips the worn table, "The Mountain King demands tribute.. Two souls must be sacrificed or his wrath shall consume us all" he intoned, his eyes clouded with fear.
"The Mountain King?!.. Who or what is this entity and why does it seek such a grim offering?!" naruto echoes, his brow furrowing as his gaze flicks from one elder to the next. The wizened man's face grows somber and his eyes reflect the weight of untold burdens, "A terrifying and hairy beast it is.. In times past.. We would give tribute in the form of livestock.. A price we willingly paid to appease its hunger and ensure our safety" he rasps, his voice trembling with each word. A collective shudder ripples through the gathered elders as their expressions were etched with dread. The elderly woman clasps her gnarled hands together as if in silent prayer, "But recently.. Its appetite has grown more... Insatiable.. No longer satisfied with mere animals but it now craves human flesh and bone" she whispers, her voice strained.
"And it snatches people from Kiv or any unfortunate soul in its path" naruto presses, his tone steely with determination and jaw tight. The woman meets his gaze with her eyes haunted by visions none should bear witness to, "Yes... The Mountain King's attack any its path.. Our village may be laid to ruin and our people torn asunder by its ravenous hunger if things continue" she breathes, her words heavy with foreboding. A hush falls over the room as the weight of their plight hangs heavy in the air while naruto's mind races, formulating strategies and contingencies, each more daring than the last.
"Where does this beast reside?!.. Lead me to its lair and I shall put an end to its reign of terror" naruto says, his gaze unwavering. The elders exchange wary glances with their expressions a conflicting myriad of hope and trepidation.
"Higher in the mountains does the Mountain King reside but we do not dare venture to reach it on foot" one of the wizened elders says, his voice cracking like dry kindling. Naruto's brow furrows as he considered the elder's words, "Then guide me to the closest point you can reach safely.. From there I will continue the ascent alone" he urges, his tone resolute. The elderly woman's eyes widen as her weathered features are etched with concern, "But stranger.. You cannot fathom the dangers that lurk within those treacherous peaks.. The Mountain King is a force to be reckoned with.. It is a beast of immense power and insatiable hunger" she protests, her voice quavering. Naruto's jaw tightens with his gaze unwavering, "I have faced foes that are both formidable and terrifying.. This Mountain King will be no exception.. I will not cower in the face of this threat.. Not when the lives of innocents hang in the balance" he countered, his voice carrying the weight of his experiences.
"Very well stranger" the man acquiesces, after studying naruto's expression and his eyes searching for any flicker of doubt or hesitation as the other elders' shoulders sag.
"We shall have someone guide you as far as the Eagle's Perch.. A rocky outcropping that overlooks the Mountain King's domain" the wizened elder says, his shoulders sagging as well with the burden of a decision long in the making. A murmur of unease ripple through the gathered elders and their faces pale with trepidation but naruto remains steadfast and his resolve unwavering.
"Then it is settled.. Lead the way and I shall follow.. This village has suffered long enough under the shadow of this beast's tyranny" naruto declares, his voice ringing with determination. The elders rise to make preparations as naruto's gaze is drawn to the window, where the towering peaks loom in the distance, their shadows casting an ominous veil over the village. Several minutes pass as naruto heads outside to check on liam and the horse whinnes.
"Adventurer" the wizened elder says, standing with a young man having fiery orange-red hair and green eyes. He wears a hooded tunic with light armor, sturdy black pants and matching boots, lastly a long cloak having fur around the collar.
"Cedric shall guide you to the Eagle's Perch.. May the gods watch over your steps" the wizened elder says, nodding solemnly. Cedric's jaw tightens with his hand instinctively resting upon the hilt of the sword at his side, "I shall see you there safely" he replies, his voice laced with a steely resolve that belies his youth. Naruto studies the young man and recognizes the familiar glint of determination that burns in his eyes, before summoning a shadow clone to tend to liam.
"Well Cedric.. Let's be on our way" naruto says, offering cedric a reassuring nod. The pair make their way through the winding streets as cedric's boots echo against the ground with his stride purposeful, "You're a brave one stranger.. Not many would willingly seek out the Mountain King's lair" cedric remarks, his tone tinged with equal parts respect and wariness.
"Bravery is born from necessity.. Not recklessness.. When innocents are threatened.. Inaction is a luxury one cannot afford" naruto counters, his gaze fixed upon the towering peaks that looms ever closer. Cedric's brow furrows with his grip tightening around the worn leather of his sword's hilt, "Aye but even the bravest of souls can fall victim to the Mountain King's insatiable hunger.. Have you truly prepared yourself for the horrors that lurk within those icy depths" he says and turns his head, his eyes meeting naruto's.
"I've faced horrors Cedric and I'll add the Mountain King to it" naruto replies, his voice carrying the weight of untold battles. Cedric's eyes widen with a flicker of uncertainty crossing his features before he quickly schools his expression, "Then you are either a fool or a legend in the making" he murmurs, his tone tinged with a newfound respect. They venture further from the village and the terrain grows increasingly treacherous and the rocky path winding its way through narrow crevices and steep inclines. Cedric leads the way with an unwavering surety as his footsteps are sure and steady.
"There.. The Eagle's Perch.. From here you can glimpse the Mountain King's domain" cedric calls out, gesturing towards a precipitous outcropping that juts from the mountainside. Naruto's gaze follows cedric's outstretched arm and his breath catches in his throat. Nestled amidst the towering peaks a vast, icy cavern yawns open and its maw seemingly large enough to swallow entire villages whole. Jagged spires of ice protrude from its depths and casting eerie shadows in the fading light.
"By the Gods.. No wonder your people live in such fear" naruto breathes, his eyes widening at the sheer magnitude of the lair. Cedric nods solemnly with his expression grave, "Aye.. It is a sight that would chill even the bravest of hearts.. Are you certain you wish to venture forth?!.. None would fault you for turning back" he says and turns to naruto, his gaze unwavering.
"I cannot abandon these people to the whims of a tyrannical beast.. Not when I possess the power to end its reign of terror" naruto says, his voice ringing with determination. A ghost of a smile tugs at cedric's lips and his respect for naruto evident in his eyes, "Then I shall bid you farewell and good fortune.. May the Gods guide your blade true" he said, clasping naruto's forearm in a gesture of camaraderie.

Naruto turns his gaze towards the looming cavern with a nod, his heart steeling itself for the battle that lays ahead. The shadows seem to beckon him forward and whispering promises of glory or oblivion. He leaps toward the mountain king's lair, using his shinobi skills to reach the maw but could feel the weight of the village's hopes upon his shoulders. Yet he did not falter, for he knows that true courage is not the absence of fear but the unwavering resolve to face it head-on. The echo of his footfalls reverberate through the icy depths, being a haunting rhythm that seems to herald his arrival. Naruto's senses were heighten and his eyes scanning the cavernous expanse for any sign of the dreaded mountain king.
"This is not haunting" naruto thought, before channeling his chakra and adhering himself to the cavern's icy ceiling with practiced ease. His movements become silent with his steps masked but naruto's gaze sweeps across the jagged formations below, his mind alert for any sudden movements or subtle shifts in the shadows. He advances deeper into the cavern but his eyes catch sight of something that makes his heart sink of bones, scattered haphazardly across the icy floor. The skeletal remains of unfortunate animals that have met a grisly fate but as he draws closer, his breath caught in his throat as amidst the jumble of bones. He recognizes the unmistakable shape of human skulls, their empty eye sockets seeming to stare back at him in silent accusation.
"What a depraved creature" naruto murmurs and his voice is barely above a whisper, lest it echo through the cavernous depths and alert the beast to his presence. He drops down and kneels down and his gloved fingers, trace the contours of a discarded femur, his brow furrowed in grim contemplation. The elders have spoken the truth that the mountain king's hunger knows no bounds and its depravity knows no limits. He rises to his feet and a low rumble reverberates through the cavern, the icy walls trembling ever so slightly. Naruto freezes and his senses on high alert with his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of his blade. From the depths of the shadows, a pair of glowing crimson eyes emerge, their gaze fixates upon him with an intensity that chills his very soul.
"So... The village has sent another offering.. How foolish to think a mere mortal could stand against the might of the Mountain King" a deep but gravelly voice rumbles, the words dripping with disdain. Naruto's jaw tightens with his fingers curling around the hilt of his blade as he slides into a defensive stance, "I am no offering.. Beast" he says, his eyes narrowing as the mountain king's massive form emerges from the shadows. The creature towers before him with its shaggy fur matted and unkempt, its hulking frame rippling with muscle. Sharp talons protrude from its paws, each one longer than a grown man's arm and its maw gaped open to reveal rows of jagged, yellowed fangs.
"Then you are a trespasser.. And trespassers must be punished!" the mountain king snarls, its eyes burning with a feral hunger and with a roar that shakes the very foundations of the cavern. The beast lunges forward with its claws extended in a deadly arc. Naruto barely has time to react and his blade flashing out as he parries the initial strike with the force of the impact jarring his arm.
"I have come to put an end to your reign of terror.. No longer will you terrorize the innocent people of Kiv" naruto growls, his feet sliding across the icy surface as he struggles to maintain his footing but uses his chakra to halt himself. The mountain king throws back its head and laughs but is a grating sound that grated against naruto's ears, "Bold words from such a insignificant morsel.. But your bravery will only make your flesh that much sweeter to savor" it taunts, its eyes glinting with malicious glee. The beast strikes again with a speed that belied its massive size, its claws raking across naruto's blade with a deafening screech of metal on metal. Naruto swiftly substitutes himself with a nearby large skull, narrowly avoiding the mountain king's lethal strike as he skids across the icy cavern floor.
"Why do you seek human flesh?!.. Did you not feast on the animals of this land before?!" naruto demands, his voice echoing through the cavernous depths.
"Ah.. I did but once I tasted the sweet and tender flesh of a young maiden.. No mere animal could satisfy my hunger" the mountain king says, laughing its guttural laugh. Naruto's eyes widen in shock as the beast's tongue lols out and licking its chops as if savoring the memory.
"Her screams were like a symphony to my ears.. Her struggles only whetting my appetite further.. I tore into her delicate flesh.. Reveling in the warmth of her blood as it coated my tongue" the mountain king purrs, its eyes gleaming with sadistic glee.
"You're a monster" naruto hisses, his voice laced with disgust and fury while tightening his grip around his blade.
"Monster?!.. I am merely an apex predator fulfilling my natural desires.. It is you humans who are the true monsters.. Encroaching upon my domain and denying me my rightful sustenance" the mountain king chuckles darkly. The mountain king lunges forward with its massive claws extended like deadly scythes but naruto braces himself, channeling his wind chakra into the blade as its edges sharpening to a razor's edge. Naruto's sword sings through the air as the beast's lethal strike rains down upon him, deflecting the initial blow with a resounding clang that echoes through the cavernous depths.
"You underestimate me beast.. I am no mere morsel to be devoured" naruto retorted, his breath visible.
"But I can taste the fear in your sweat.. It only whets my appetite further" it taunts throwing its shaggy head back.
"Your hunger shall be your undoing" naruto murmurs, his voice laced with steel. Naruto's eyes narrows as his blade glints in the dim light as he channels his aura and preparing for the decisive strike as the mountain swings its claw forward. A soul-shattering roar tears through the icy cavern as the mountain king's arm is severed, the limb thudding heavily against the frozen ground. Ichor splatters across the crystalline surface, staining it with the beast's viscous and crimson lifeblood.
"Insolent whelp!.. You dare defile the flesh of one such as I?!" the mountain king bellows, its voice reverberating through the cavernous depths like rolling thunder. Naruto's lips curves into a grim smile with his blade poised and ready, "Your reign of terror ends here" he declares, his tone unwavering. The beast's remaining arm lashs out with blinding speed, its talons glinting in the dim light but naruto deftly sidesteps the strike, his movements fluid and precise, honed by years of training and battle. Naruto weaves one-handed signs in intricate patterns, "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu" he thought, expelling a torrent of flames and the searing inferno engulfing the mountain king's wounded form. The beast howls in agony as its shaggy fur ignites in a blaze of crimson and orange. It thrashes wildly and its massive bulk crashes against the icy walls, sending shards of frozen shrapnel raining down upon them.
"Heireki Issen: Rokuren!" naruto utters after sucking in a deep breath and the words laced with power as his aura flares with a brilliant, bluish-white radiance. Naruto blitzes forward in a blur of motion as his blade is a mere afterimage while he strikes the thrashing beast with blinding speed. Six times his sword finds its mark, each strike precise and lethal as the mountain king's howls of agony echo through the cavernous depths Its massive frame staggering under the onslaught of naruto's relentless assault. Flames licks at its shaggy fur, the searing heat searing its flesh and cauterizing the grievous wounds until the sixth cleaves through the beast's neck, the razor-sharp edge of his blade slicing through sinew and bone with ease. The mountain king's head tumbles from its shoulders, its crimson eyes still wide with shock and fury, even in death.
"I-impossible" the mountain king's fleeting thought were, while its decapitated body sways precariously before crashing to the icy ground with a thunderous impact and sending tremors rippling through the cavern. Naruto skids to a halt as his boots scrape against the frozen surface with his blade at the ready and a steam escaping breath leaves his mouth. Silence descends upon the lair, broken only by the crackle of smoldering fur and the soft breaths escaping naruto's lips. He straightens with his gaze unwavering as he surveys the fallen beast, its lifeblood slowly pooling across the icy floor.
"It is done.. The people of Kiv are safe" naruto murmurs, his voice carrying a note of grim satisfaction and sweeps the blood off gungir. He sheaths his sword but gaze falls upon the scattered remains, bones stripped bare, some still clinging to tattered scraps of clothing. A chill runs down his spine as he imagines the anguish and terror that must have accompanied their final moments.
"So many lives lost.. All to sate the insatiable hunger of a depraved beast" naruto murmurs, his voice heavy with sorrow. He approaches the nearest pile of bones with a purposeful stride, kneeling before them with reverence. He offers a silent prayer after closing his eyes and his lips moving in a wordless plea for the souls of the departed. He repeats this with a few other piles but a glint of metal that is partially obscured by a fallen stalactite catches his eyes. Naruto approaches the obstruction as his boots crunch against the icy ground and with a grunt of effort, dislodges the crystalline formation, revealing a tarnished chest, its lid ajar and its contents spilling forth.
"Huh?!" naruto thought, kneeling and sifting through the scattered treasures. His fingers brushing against tarnished coins, faded scrolls and trinkets of indeterminate origin. Yet one item in particular caught his attention and it is a delicate necklace, its pendant fashioned in the shape of a rearing dragon. He lifts the necklace and his thumb brushes against the intricate design and a jolt of energy surge through his being. A vision flashes before his eyes, a fleeting glimpse of a majestic beast, its scales shimmering like snow, its eyes burning with an ancient blue fire.
"What is this?!" naruto mutters, his gaze fixed upon the unassuming pendant that has elicited such a profound reaction after the vision dissipates. Naruto pockets the pendant and his gaze sweeps across the cavern once more, his mind whirling with questions and possibilities but the mountain king's reign of terror has ended. [song end]
シーンブレイク
Naruto approaches the mountain king's decapitated head, a grim reminder of the battle that has raged within the icy depths. He pulls out a stack of explosive tags, their intricate markings etched with a lethal purpose.
"This cavern has borne witness to untold atrocities.. It is time to seal away the echoes of this beast's depravity.. Once and for all" naruto murmurs, his voice laced with a solemn resolve. He begins placing the tags in various places from the ceiling to the wall, before gripping the severed head by its matted fur. He heads for the entrance with his boots crunching against the icy surface, making his way to the entrance but with each step, memories of the fallen souls flickered through his mind, their silent cries for justice echoing in the stillness. Naruto reaches the entrance and turns on his heels with the last explosive tag as his eyes flicker.
"May this seal forever entomb the horrors that once dwelled within" naruto intones, his voice carrying a weight of finality and tosses it inside. The explosive tags detonate one by one, their thunderous roar reverberating through the cavern like the rumbling of a thousand avalanches. Shards of ice and rock rain down, obscuring the entrance in a billowing cloud of dust and debris. When the dust finally settles the mountain king's lair is sealed from the outside world forevermore. Naruto's gaze lingers upon the haphazard barricade, his jaw set with grim determination.
"It is done.. The people of Kiv are finally free from the shadow of this beast's tyranny" naruto breathes, his voice laced with a mixture of relief and solemnity. Naruto makes his way back towards the village, the weight of the mountain king's matted fur clings to his fingers as if the beast itself refuses to relinquish its hold on the mortal realm, even in death. Cedric's silhouette comes into view as naruto approaches the eagle's perch, his fiery orange-red hair a beacon amidst the rugged terrain. The young man's eyes widen at the sight of the gruesome trophy, his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of his sword.
"By the Gods.. You have slain the beast!" cedric breathes, his voice tinged with a mixture of awe and trepidation. Naruto nods but his expression is grim and weary, "The Mountain King's reign of terror is at an end" he states, his tone brooking no argument. Cedric's gaze flicks towards the rubble that now obscured the cavern's entrance, "And what of its lair?!.. Surely such a place of depravity should be purged from this world" he says, his brow furrowing in uncertainty.
"The cavern has been sealed.. Its horrors forever entombed beneath the rock and ice" naruto assured him, his voice carrying a finality that left no room for doubt. A flicker of relief passes across cedric's features, "Then the elders and the people of Kiv shall sleep easier.. Knowing that the threat has been vanquished" he says, his shoulders visibly relaxing. Naruto's grip tightens around the beast's matted fur with his jaw set in a grim line, "The people of Kiv have paid a heavy price for the Mountain King's depravity" he said, his voice laced with solemnity.
"Aye.. The echoes of its reign will linger long after its demise.. But you have given us a chance to heal and to rebuild what was shattered" cedric murmurs, his expression somber. A ghost of a smile tug at naruto's lips and a glimmer of hope shining through the grim facade, "Then let us return to the village and share the news.. The people of Kiv have endured enough darkness.. It is time for the light to shine once more" he said, his tone carrying a note of resolve. The trip back to kiv is quiet save for the animal seem to sense the beast's demise. Naruto and cedric approach the village's wooden archway as the townsfolk take notice of the gruesome trophy the blond carries, the severed head of the dreaded mountain king. A hush falls over the streets as the villagers' eyes widening in a mixture of awe and trepidation.
"Mama.. I-is that the beast's head?!" a little girl whispers, her voice carrying a hushed reverence as she tugs at his mother's skirt. The woman's hand flies to her mouth, stifling a gasp as she nods mutely with her gaze fixed upon the grisly sight.
"The Mountain King's reign of terror has come to an end!.. The people of Kiv are free from its tyranny!" naruto calls out, his voice ringing with conviction. A murmur ripples through the gathering crowd, a mixture of disbelief and cautious hope as cedric steps forward.
"It is true.. This brave stranger has vanquished the beast that plagued our village for far too long" cedric affirms, his voice steady and reassuring. A cheer erupts from the crowd, a cacophony of joy and relief that echoes through the winding streets. Naruto's lips curve into a faint smile and his heart swelling with a sense of accomplishment. They continue towards the elders' abode as the villagers part before them, their eyes still lingering upon the gruesome trophy with a mixture of awe and gratitude. The elders emerge from their dwelling and their weathered faces etched with disbelief but also cautious hope. The wizened man steps forward with his gaze fixed upon the severed head.
"Is it truly slain?!" the wizened man rasps, his voice trembling with barely contained emotion and naruto nods solemnly, lowering the severed head to the ground. A collective sigh of relief sweeps through the gathered elders, their shoulders sagging as if a great weight has been lifted. The elderly woman clasp her hands together with prayer, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.
"Thank the Gods.. Our people are finally free from the shadow of that abomination" the elderly woman breathes, her voice thick with gratitude. Cedric steps forward with his expression one of grim determination, "Naruto has earned our eternal gratitude and respect" he declares, his gaze sweeping over the assembled villagers. A chorus of cheers and applause erupt from the villagers as their voices mingle in a joyous symphony of celebration ass the euphoria of victory washes over the village. Naruto seals the severed head of the mountain king within a scroll, his movements precise and deliberate. The elders watched with a mixture of awe and trepidation, their gazes fixed upon the gruesome trophy that has haunted their nightmares for far too long.
"You have delivered us from the clutches of a great evil Naruto" the wizened man rasps, his voice trembling with emotion.
"Indeed but I must return to Arquis and inform the guild of the Mountain King's demise.. They must know that the threat to Kiv has been neutralized" naruto replies, his tone resolute. The elderly woman steps forward and her weathered features are etched with concern, "Surely you will not depart on such a perilous journey as night falls?!.. Rest here and set forth at first light.. When the path is clear and your strength is renewed" she says, her eyes imploring. Naruto's brow furrows as his gaze flicks towards the setting sun that paint the horizon in hues of crimson and gold. The shadows seem to lengthen and casting an ominous pall over the village as if the mountain king's spectre still lingers.
"She speaks wisely.. The roads are treacherous after nightfall and who knows what other dangers may lurk in the darkness" cedric interjects, his hand resting upon the pommel of his sword. A murmur of agreement ripples through the gathered villagers, their faces etched with a mixture of gratitude and concern for their savior's well-being. Naruto's shoulders sag ever so slightly as the weight of his recent ordeal is finally catching up to him, "Very well.. I shall accept your hospitality for the night and depart at first light" he acquiesces, his voice laced with a hint of weariness. The elders exchange a glance, their expressions reflecting a mixture of relief and resolve as the wizened man nods, his gaze unwavering.
"Then it is settled.. Tonight.. We shall celebrate our deliverance and honor the one who made it possible" the wizened man declares, his voice carrying a note of finality. A cheer erupts from the assembled villagers, their voices mingling in a jubilant chorus of gratitude and joy. Naruto's lips curve into a faint smile, his weariness momentarily forgotten amidst the infectious revelry. As the evening festivities commence, the air is filled with the aroma of roasting meats and the sound of laughter and song. Naruto finds himself swept up in the celebrations, regaled with tales of the mountain king's reign of terror and the villagers' unwavering resilience. Cedric joins naruto at a table as his eyes alight with a newfound respect, "I must confess.. When you first arrived.. I harbored doubts about your ability to slay such a fearsome beast.. But your courage and skill have proven me wrong" cedric admits, taking a swig from a wooden tankard.
"Doubt can be a powerful motivator.. It fuels the fire within.. Driving us to overcome even the greatest of challenges" naruto replies, his voice tinged with amusement and raising his own cup in a toast. As the night wears on does the revelry continue unabated, the villagers' spirits buoyed by the knowledge that they were finally free from the shadow of the mountain king's tyranny. Naruto eventually turns in for the night in the elders home but has dreams of a white dragon with blue eyes and golden horns. As the first rays of dawn creep over the horizon does naruto stirs from his slumber, the remnants of his vivid dreams still lingering like wisps of smoke in his mind's.
"Are you trying to tell me something from the Pure Land... Old man Liam" naruto thought, thinking of the majestic beast. Its scales shimmering like fresh snow, seems to sear into his consciousness, a tantalizing enigma that beckons him to unravel its mysteries. Naruto pushes aside the threadbare blanket and gets dressed in silence, his movements deliberate and purposeful. The villagers were still nestled in the warm embrace of slumber, their worries temporarily forgotten amidst the euphoria of the mountain king's demise. He leaves the elders' abode and grabs his horse liam from the stable, heading for the archway village but his gaze is immediately drawn to a solitary figure saddled on chestnut mare.
"Cedric?!" naruto says, seeing his fiery hair illuminated by the rising sun and his expression resolute. Cedric nods with his hands holding the reins of his mare, "Aye and with good reason.. I wish to accompany you on your journey back to Arquis" he replies, his voice carrying a note of determination. Naruto's eyes widen with surprise flickering across his features, "But your place is here with your people.. They need you.. Now more than ever.. To help rebuild what was shattered" he protests, his gaze sweeping over the slumbering village. Cedric's jaw tightens but his eyes reflect a steely resolve, "My heart tells me that my path lies elsewhere.. Something within me stirs.. Urging me to follow you and to witness firsthand the destiny that unfolds before you" he counters, his fingers curling around the mare's reins.
"I.. I... Very well.. I would be honored to have your company Cedric of Kiv" naruto acquiesced, his lips curving into a faint smile. Relief washes over cedric's features and his shoulders visibly relax, "Then let us make haste.. The road to Arquis is long and who knows what adventures await us along the way" he urges, as naruto pulls up next to him. The rhythmic clop of hooves soon echo as the familiar sights of kiv gradually fades into the distance, replaced by the rolling hills and verdant meadows that dotted the countryside.
"What spurred you to join me on this journey Cedric" naruto inquires, his gaze fixed upon the winding path that stretches out before them. Cedric's brow furrows and his expression pensive, "I cannot quite put it into words.. It is a feeling.. A stirring within my very soul and that compels me to follow you" he admits, his fingers idly toying with the mare's mane.
"I too felt the same.. I started my journey for at first" naruto murmurs, his voice laced with a hint of wonder. As they ride on the countryside gives way to rolling hills and verdant forests, the path winding ever deeper into the unknown but naruto is unaware that he has found the first member of the Lunar Wolves. Far away and nestled amidst the lofty peaks of the Dragonspine Mountains, a majestic white dragon stirs from her slumber. Her name is Aurelia and her scales gleaming like freshly fallen snow, blinking open her piercing blue eyes as a strange sensation washes over her. It was a feeling akin to a long-forgotten memory, a whisper from the depths of her ancient consciousness and beckoning her to heed its call. Aurelia takes to the skies with a graceful sweep of her wings, her lithe form cutting through the crisp mountain air. She soars higher and her keen senses detect a faint yet familiar energy, its tendrils reaching out to her across the vast expanse.
"What force is this that stirs within me?!.. It is as if a long-dormant part of my soul has awakened.. Yearning to be set free" aurelia murmurs, her melodic voice reverberating through the crisp air. Aurelia banks sharply as if driven by an inexplicable compulsion, her wings carrying her westward, towards the distant lands that lay beyond the horizon. The energy she feels seems to emanate from that direction, a siren's call that she could not resist. Aurelia's mind wanders to the ancient tales whispered by her kin, tales of a time long forgotten when dragons and mortals walked the same paths, bound by unbreakable bonds. Could this force be tied to those bygone days, a remnant of a legacy long since obscured by the mists of time.
"Perhaps the answers I seek lie in the lands beyond.. If fate has set me upon this course.. Then I shall follow its thread.. No matter where it may lead" aurelia muses, her powerful wings propelling her ever onwards. The majestic dragon presses on with a renewed determination, her form a graceful silhouette against the backdrop of the endless azure sky. The mysteries that await her were shrouded in uncertainty but aurelia feels a stirring deep within her soul, a sense of purpose that she could not ignore, for it was woven into the very fabric of her being.
#Three Months Later - Land of Grass# - [Music: Hyouhaku Extended - Naruto Shippuden Ost]
It has been two and a half years since naruto left konoha as his twin brother boruto and kyubi jinchuriki trained with everything given to him. He, sakura, sai and temporary team leader yamato were following a tip from missing-nin Akasuna Sasori. This information has finally allowed them to track down sasuke uchiha in the Land of Grass. Before they reached him, they contended with Orochimaru and boruto lost control of the kyubi's chakra, going four-tails and nearly killing sakura but thanks to yamato's Mokuton managed to snap boruto back and the soon find the hideout as an explosion rocks the area. Sasuke stands atop a crater he has created and looks down at team-7 with disdain, "So.. You've finally found me" he said, his voice dripping with contempt.
"Sasuke.. Please come back to the village.. We've been searching for you all this time" sakura says, stepping forward with her hands clasped.
"And why would I return to a place of weakness?!.. Konoha is a village that breeds complacency and holds back true power.. I have no desire to be shackled by their petty rules and expectations" sasuke says, his eyes narrowed and his lips twisted into a sneer.
"We have orders to bring you back.. One way or another" sai says, his face impassive and his eyes fixed on the traitorous uchiha.
"Sasuke Uchiha.. You've gone too far.. Your quest for vengeance has consumed you" yamato says, placing his hand on sakura's shoulder. Sasuke laughs a bitter sound that echoes across the area, "My focus is killing Itachi... But I see your fool of a brother isn't here Boruto... Where is Naruto" he asks, a hint of curiosity in his voice. Boruto has his fists clenched but a sneer contorts his features, "Naruto?!.. He ran off after you abandoned the village.. But then again.. What else could you expect from someone as weak as him" he spits, his voice dripping with disdain and showing nothing has changed. Sasuke tilts his head slightly and his expression flickers with surprise for a moment before settling back into a smirk, "So he's finally living for himself then... Good for him" he said, a hint of approval.
"Why would you say that Sasuke?!.. Naruto left because he was too weak and cowardly to face the consequences of his actions.. He ran away like a scared child" sakura says, her eyes wide with disbelief. Sasuke's expression darkens and he lets out a derisive snort, "You have no idea what you're talking about Sakura.. I fought Naruto at the Valley of the End and he's far stronger than any of you realize.. He's finally stepped out of his brother's shadow and is walking his own path... If Naruto truly has left the village.. Then good for him.. He deserves better than to be held back by the likes of you" he says, a hint of respect flickering in his eyes before he regains his composure.
"Why do you seem to care about Naruto's departure Sasuke.. It's an unexpected reaction from someone so singularly focused on vengeance" sai asks, his voice level and unburdened by emotion. Sasuke's brow furrows and his lips twist into a scowl, "Don't mistake my words for concern.. I merely recognize Naruto's strength.. Something the rest of you seem incapable of comprehending" he says, his tone laced with disdain. Sai's gaze remains unwavering and his dark eyes studies sasuke's expression, "You fought him at the Valley of the End.. And he surprised you with his abilities.. Enough to earn your respect" sai muses, piecing together the fragments of information. Sasuke's Sharingan flares to life and lowers stance with his body coiled in tension, "Enough of this idle chatter.. If you're intent on bringing me back.. Then make your move.. But be warned.. I won't hold back against any of you" he growls, his voice low and menacing.
"Unlike Naruto... I'll bring you back to Konoha!" boruto shouts, his voice dripping with determination. Sasuke appears in front of boruto in blur of movement with his right arm draped over the blond's left shoulder, his face mere inches from boruto's right shoulder. The sudden proximity causes team-7 to tense and their bodies poised for action with all of them thinking how fast sasuke is. Sasuke's Sharingan eyes bore into boruto's with his gaze cold and unforgiving, "Don't compare yourself to Naruto.. You're not even a fraction of the shinobi he is" he whispers, his voice laced with disdain.
"Sasuke stop!" sakura pleads, her voice laced with desperation and her eyes wide but also her heart pounds heavily in her chest. Sai remains impassive but his dark eyes narrow as he studies the scene, his hand inching towards the scroll tucked into his pouch and ready to unleash his ink beasts at a moment's notice. Yamato's fingers twitch and prepare to restrain sasuke with mokuton, "Don't do anything rash Sasuke Uchiha" yamato warns, his voice stern but tinged with concern. Boruto's eyes burn with defiance and his jaw clenched as he glares at sasuke but refusing to back down, "I'll prove to you that I'm stronger than Naruto ever was" he spits, his words dripping with venom. Sasuke's lips curl into a contemptuous smirk but his eyes glint with a mixture of disdain and amusement, "Then prove it" he challenges, his voice a low hiss and draws his chokuto with the blade gleaming menacingly as he prepares to strike boruto from behind.
"Sasuke No!" sakura shouts, as sai reacts instantly with his brush already dancing across the scroll he pulls from his pouch. A flurry of inky beasts erupt forth with their bodies forming a solid barrier between sasuke's blade and boruto's back. Yamato's hand blur through hand seals and thick wooden tendrils erupt from the hand, shooting towards sasuke's in an attempt to restrain him. But sasuke is too fast and his Sharingan eyes allow him to anticipate their movements.
"Chidori Nagashi!" sasuke shouts, with a burst of lightning chakra. The electrical current ripples outward in a devastating wave. The ink beasts dissolve into pools of black liquid and the wooden tendril splinters, cracking under the onslaught of electricity. Boruto, sai and yamato were blown backwards by the force of the attack, their bodies tumbling across the blown open area. Sakura watches in horror and her mind races as she realizes the extent of sasuke's newfound power.
"He can emit Chidori from his entire body.. This isn't the Sasuke we knew" sakura murmurs, her voice trembling with a combination of fear and awe. Sasuke stands tall and his Sharingan eyes swirling with power, the air around him crackling in residual lightning chakra. His gaze sweeps over his former teammates sakura and boruto, his expression one of disdain and disappointment.
"Is this the best Konoha has to offer?!.. Pathetic" sasuke taunts, his voice dripping with contempt. Sakura grits her teeth with her fists clenched as she rushes forward, a weak punch raised. Yamato swiftly moves in her way with a kunai raised in defense. Sasuke's Sharingan eyes narrow as he effortlessly slices through the kunai with his chokuto, driving the blade deep into yamato's shoulder and pinning him to a nearby rock. Yamato lets out a pained grunt as his body convulses from the lightning and he tries to break free from the unyielding grip of the sword. Boruto bares his teeth, his now slitted red eyes flickering with rage as the kyubi's chakra begins to surface, a crimson aura enveloping his body.
"You think you're so tough Sasuke?!.. I'll show you the true power of the Uzumaki clan!" boruto snarls, his voice distorted by the demonic energy coursing through him.
"Boruto no!.. You can't control the Kyuubi's chakra!.. Remember what happened on the Tenchi bridge!" sakura shouts, her eyes wide in alarm as she witnesses the transformation once again. But her warning falls on deaf ears as boruto's fingernails elongate into razor-sharp claws and his canines protrude from his snarling mouth. Suddenly the world around them shifts as sasuke and boruto find themselves standing before the kyubi's cage with the massive fox's malevolent chakra pulsing around them. The kyubi bubbles to the surface of the water and its crimson eyes glinting with dark amusement. A rumbling chuckle echoes through the chamber as it studies boruto's transformed state.
"So... The weakling attempts to wield my power again.. Foolish child.. You're no more worthy than your pathetic brother.. In fact.. I'd much prefer if the loser had been here instead of you" the beast mocks, its tone dripping with disdain. The kyubi's massive tails lashes violently and stirs the water into frenzied waves, "At least Naruto had the decency to acknowledge his inadequacy.. But you.. You cling to delusions of grandeur.. Blinded by your own arrogance" it sneers and bares its massive fangs, "You're nothing but a pale imitation.. A cheap knockoff of your brother's potential.. Even at his weakest.. Naruto possessed a spark that you'll never attain.. No matter how hard you try to emulate him" it adds, chuckling darkly. Boruto snarls with his clawed fingers digging into the ethereal floor as the kyubi's words cut deep. The crimson chakra surrounding him flares with his mounting rage but the fox remains unfazed.
"Pathetic.. If you can't even handle the truth of your own insignificance.. How do you expect to control my power?!.. Which you have Yet to do.. You're nothing but a child playing with forces beyond your comprehension" the kyubi spits, its voice dripping with contempt but it sets its on the uchiha. Sasuke's gaze remains fixed on the kyubi, his Sharingan eyes swirling with power. He steps forward without a word and his hand shooting out to grasp the construct of the fox's muzzle, his fingers digging into its ethereal form.
"So... You're the Kyubi" sasuke states, his voice devoid of emotion. The kyubi's eyes narrows and it lets out a low growl, "You have eyes like him" it hisses, its tone laced with contempt and curiosity. Sasuke's grip tightens and he stares unflinchingly into the fox's crimson gaze, "Who?!" he challenges, his voice betraying no hint of fear or intimidation. The kyubi bares its fangs in a twisted grin and its chakra swirling violently around them, "Wouldn't you like to know Uchiha" it taunts, its voice rumbling with dark amusement. Sasuke's grip on the fox's muzzle tightens and his Sharingan swirls with intensity but using a surge of his chakra, suppresses the kyubi's presence, causing the beast to thrash and growl in surprise.
"How dare you!... Only Madara possessed such power over me!" kyubi snarls, its voice laced with shock and fury. The world around them shifts and they find themselves back in the cratered base as sasuke's hand still outstretched from his confrontation with the kyubi's construct. He turns and pulls his chokuto from yamato's shoulder without hesitation and the jonin's body slumping to the ground with a pained grunt. Sasuke then leaps effortlessly back above ground of the base, his eyes scanning the area with disdain and raises his left hand skyward. But before he could unleash his attack, a familiar figure appears and grabs his raised wrist.
"Orochimaru" sasuke hisses, his lips curling into a sneer.
"Now.. Now Sasuke.. Let's not be too hasty" the sannin purrs, his serpentine eyes glinting with amusement and kabuto appears to sasuke's right. A third figure behind then with fair skin, dark eyes and light blue hair in a spiky ponytail with long strands of hair framing her face, her being sasuke's lover named Guren as her gaze is fixed upon him in a mixture of concern and adoration.
"Sasuke.. What are you doing" guren murmurs, her voice cold and melodic. Sasuke's jaw clenches and his body is trembling with barely contained rage, "Let go of me" he growls, his voice low and dangerous.
"Come now Sasuke.. You know you can't defeat me in your current state.. And with Kabuto and Guren by my side.. You're outnumbered" orochimaru chides, his lips stretched into a sinister smile.
"It's time to go Sasuke" kabuto sneers, adjusting his glasses and his expression one of smug confidence.
"Please Sasuke..." guren says, her fingers gently caressing his cheek. Sakura watches the exchange with horror, her heart sinking as she witnesses the tenderness between sasuke and the mysterious woman. Jealousy and heartbreak twist in her chest, threatening to suffocate her. She has harbored hopes of reconnecting with sasuke, of rekindling the bond they once shared but this intimate moment shattered those illusions, leaving her feeling foolish and naive. Sakura's fists clench involuntarily and her nails digging into her palms as she fights back the surge of emotions that threatens to overwhelm her.
"Who... Who is she?!" sakura whispers, her voice trembling with a mixture of disbelief and anguish as the familiarity between guren and sasuke speaks of a deep connection, one that cuts sakura to the core. Sai watches the scene unfold with his usual detachment as his dark eyes studying the interactions, "I do not know but it seems Sasuke has formed an intimate relationship with this woman during his time away from Konoha" he observes, his tone devoid of emotion. Sasuke's gaze flicks between the three figures and team-7 with his mind racing as he weighs his options but he wrenches his wrist from orochimaru's grasp.
"Fine.. But mark my words Orochimaru.. The day will come when I no longer need you" sasuke says, his voice dripping with contempt. Orochimaru's laughter echoes across the area and sending a chill down the spines of sakura, boruto, sai but also the wounded yamato. The sannin's serpentine gaze sweeps over the konoha shinobi and his lips curl into a contemptuous sneer.
"It seems Jiraiya failed to make you strong enough to beat my Sasuke.. Perhaps he chose the wrong son" orochimaru taunts, his voice dripping with disdain and his eyes on boruto, who is still trembling from his confrontation with the kyubi trying to surface.
"Shut up!" boruto snarls, his voice laced with fury. Orochimaru's laughter rings out once more and his shoulders shake with mirth, "Such arrogance.. You're barely a fraction of your brother's potential" he chides, his tone laced with mockery. Guren turn her gaze towards sakura's pained face and her lips curl into a contemptuous smirk, "Isn't that just like a little girl.. Pining after a man who will never love her back" she taunts, her voice dripping with disdain.
"Shut up Bitch!" sakura spits, her eyes blazing with fury and a surge of rage washes over her.
"Enough of this petty squabbling.. Time for us to depart" orochimaru chides, his tone laced with impatience. Orochimaru, kabuto, guren and sasuke begin to fade with their forms dissolving into a misty haze.
"Enjoy your heartbreak.. Little girl" guren says, her final words lingering in the air like a cruel taunt. Boruto lets out a guttural roar of frustration, crashing to his knees in the cratered earth as his fingers dig into the soil, clumps of dirt raining down as he unleashes his anger and disappointment. Sakura could only watch in stunned silence, her heart shattered by the events that has transpired. The man she loved for so long, has slipped further from her grasp, entangled in a web of alliances and relationships she could never have fathom. [song ends]
#Kühl Region - Arquis#
A few days later and far away from grass country do the first rays of dawn filter through the window while the soft and melodic tones of isane's voice wash over naruto, gently coaxing him from the depths of slumber. Her gentle humming is a soothing lullaby that seems to resonate deep within his soul, stirring forgotten memories that dance just beyond his grasp. Naruto's eyelids slowly flutter open, his gaze taking in the familiar surroundings of the modest bedroom of their home outside arquis. Isane sits perched on the windowsill, her form silhouetted against the warm but golden hues of the rising sun. Her silver tresses cascade down the right side of her face in two thin braids and her gray eyes shine.
"Good morning Love.. I trust you slept well" isane greets, her voice a soft caress that sends a pleasant shiver down naruto's spine. Naruto props himself up on one elbow with a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips, "Like a babe swaddled in the warmest of blankets" he murmurs, his gaze lingering on isane's ethereal beauty and her lips curve into a coy smile with her eyes sparkling in mirth.
"The dulcet tones of my beloved can create a blissful repose with anyone" naruto muses, shaking his head. Isane slips from her perch on the windowsill with her movements fluid and graceful as she crosses the room to sit at naruto's bedside, "Perhaps" she concedes, her fingertips trailing along the contours of naruto's jaw in a featherlight caress. Naruto's skin tingles at her touch and sets his heart racing like a lovesick puppy, "Where's Mio and Tomoe.. It's usually them at our bedside" he murmurs fondly, his eyes drinking in her radiant beauty.
"They are on a job with Cedric and they'll miss you attempt at a promotion" isane says, leaning in to capture naruto's lips in a tender kiss that seems to set his very soul ablaze.
"A shame but when they return.. I'll be an A-rank adventurer" naruto said, his eyes twinkling with determination after their kiss. Isane smiles her fingers trailing along the sharp contours of his jaw, "Of that I have no doubt.. Your prowess has grown by leaps and bounds Love" she murmurs, her voice a honeyed caress. Naruto's heart swells with affection as he gazes into her eyes, "Have I told you how much I love you" he asks, his voice thick with emotion. Isane's smile deepens and her gray eyes shine with tenderness, "Not as much as I love you" she counters, leaning down to press another lingering kiss to his brow. A soft thump at the door draws their attention and naruto chuckles as ghost pokes his head through the opening. He bounds into the room with his tail wagging excitedly and leaps up to nuzzle naruto's hand with unbridled affection.
"Eager for attention as always I see" naruto remarks, scratching ghost behind the ears.
"He knows his masters' hearts are as soft as fresh bread" isane says and lets out a small laugh, a melodic sound that fills the room with warmth. Naruto grins and sits up fully as ghost settles at his side while being content to bask in their company, "Speaking of soft hearts.. I should probably get ready for my promotion exam" he said, his expression turning determined. Isane stands up and she presses a third tender kiss to naruto's temple, "I'll make something quick for breakfast" she murmurs, her gray eyes shining with affection. Isane slips from the room and beckoning ghost follow her as she moves with effortless grace. The wolf pup bounds after her, his paws making soft pattering sounds on the wooden floor.
"Well..." naruto thought, stretching languidly and his muscles rippling beneath tanned skin. He pads over to the window, drawing back the curtains to allow the warm rays of the morning sun to flood the room. His gaze lingers on the verdant expanse of the forest that stretches out before him, the trees swaying gently in the cool breeze. Naruto turns away from the window with a soft sigh as his thoughts linger on the family he left in konoha and how they were doing, even his brother but he moves to the present. He goes to the bathroom and does his business, before coming back to get dressed for the day.
"I wonder what the others think of me now" naruto thought grabbing his clothes. He slips on a black form-fitting long sleeve shirt with silver accents that outline his muscles and a metal plate on his collar, a pair of hybrid ninja-cargo pants with adjustable straps having tight ankles, black boots to his calves and white laces. Lastly a super cropped dark blue jacket that is held in place by a cord between two corded knots with tassels. He heads downstairs as the tantalizing aroma of isane's cooking wafts from the kitchen and a faint smile curves his lips. Isane moves with practiced grace in the kitchen, her lithe form a blur of motion as she prepares their morning meal. Ghost sits nearby with his tail thumping eagerly against the floor, his eyes trained on the sizzling pan with rapt attention.
"There you are.. I was beginning to think you might have decided to linger in bed a while longer" isane remarks, her gray eyes sparkling with affection as naruto enters the room. Naruto chuckles and crossing the room to press a tender kiss to her cheek, "And miss the chance to bask in your radiant presence.. Perish the thought" he teaseds, his voice low and playful. Isane's melodious laughter fills the air and it is a sound that never fail to stir naruto's heart, "Flatterer" she accuses fondly, swatting him lightly with the spatula she is holding. Naruto grins and snatches a piece of bacon from the plate beside her, popping it into his mouth and savoring the rich flavor as he settles into one of the chairs at the table. Ghost immediately trots over and resting his head on naruto's lap in a silent plea for attention.
"Here we go" isane says, placing a plate piled high with fluffy scrambled eggs, sprinkled with melted cheese. Alongside a few strips of crispy bacon and plump sausages as the mouthwatering aroma wafts through the air, making naruto's stomach grumble in anticipation.
"It smells incredible" naruto remarks, his eyes twinkling with affection as he gazes at isane. She smiles as her eyes shine with warmth, "Only the best for you my Love" isane replies, her voice a melodic caress. Naruto reaches out and gently scratches ghost behind the ears. The wolf pup leans into his touch with his tail wagging contentedly as naruto tears off a piece of sausage and offers it to ghost, who eagerly gobbles it down.
"Spoiling him I see" isane teases, taking a seat beside naruto.
"He's part of the family" naruto counters, a fond smile curving his lips as he watches ghost lick his chops and clearly hoping for more treats.
"Indeed he is" isane agrees, reaching over to ruffle ghost's fur affectionately. Naruto digs into his breakfast and savoring each bite of the delectable meal. The flavors dances across his tongue, a delightful symphony of savory and rich tastes. Isane's cooking never fails to impress, a testament to her experience and mastery of the culinary arts. They eat and their conversation flows effortlessly, punctuated by laughter and teasing jabs. Naruto revels in these quiet moments, cherishing the warmth and love that permeates every corner of their cozy home.
"I should get going.. Don't want to be late for the exam" naruto said, rising from his chair.
"I have no doubt you'll excel Love.. Just remember to keep a level head and trust in your abilities" isane says, her gray eyes shining with pride. Naruto nods and leans down to press a tender kiss to her forehead, "I'll make you proud" he murmurs, his voice rich with determination and rubs ghost's head. He quickly grabs gungir in its sword belt holster and ties it secure, his gauntlets crafted from burnished steel, their surfaces etched with intricate runes and sigils, before heading out and racing toward arquis.
シーンブレイク
Naruto moves through the bustling streets of arquis and he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. The city seems more alive with energy as adventurers from all walks of life converge on the guild hall, each with their own dreams and aspirations. Naruto enters the guild hall and gaze sweeps over the crowd, taking in the diverse array of hopefuls but his eyes narrow slightly as they settle on a towering figure. She is half-orc woman with light green skin, long black hair that has an undercut with a few braids, small tusk like teeth stick out of her mouth but many would call her pretty and piercing emerald eyes but naruto could see some scars around her neck. She stands about 6'4 with a muscular frame and despite imposing stature, there is a fluid grace to her movements, hinting at the years of training and experience that lay behind her formidable exterior.
"She looks strong" naruto thought, seeing the massive greatsword strapped to her back and its blade gleams. She also wears a black abby blouse with eyelets, matching pants and armor corset with shoulder pauldrons, brown leather bracers and multi-buckle knee high boots.
"Attention everyone!" aldrich shouts, before naruto could ponder further. Everyone turns their attention to the guild master as he looks down on them from the second floor, "Today.. We gather to test your mettle and to separate the wheat from the chaff!" aldrich says and his piercing gaze sweeps over the assembled adventurers, "The promotion exam will be a true test of your skills.. Pushing you to your limits and beyond.. Only those deemed worthy will ascend to the ranks of A-rank adventurers" he adds, after a hush falls over the crowd and aldrich pauses for a moment.
"However.. This is not a solitary endeavor.. You will be broken into teams.. Tasked with working alongside individuals of various backgrounds and abilities.. Teamwork and cooperation will be paramount" aldrich continues, his steely gaze sweeping over the assembled hopefuls. Murmurs ripple through the crowd with some excited, others apprehensive at the prospect of being paired with strangers.
"Your objective.. Is to explore the treacherous depths of the Sword King's Tomb.. A Tomb of traps.. Monsters and Hidden depths.. It can and will claim the lives of adventurers.. Who tread carelessly" aldrich bellows, his gruff voice echoing through the guild hall. Naruto furrows his brow as aldrich mentions the sword king's tomb and the name is unfamiliar to him, and he couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity.
"At the heart of the Tomb are artifacts.. Your task is to retrieve one of these relics and bring it back... Unscathed" aldrich continues and sees a few looks. The half-orc woman naruto noticed earlier snorts derisively, her emerald eyes glinting with a mixture of disdain and anticipation. Aldrich's gaze sweeps over the gathered adventurers and his piercing eyes seeming to size up each individual, "Now.. For the team assignments... In each box.. You will find a collection of tokens bearing various symbols... You will draw one token at random and those bearing the same symbol will be placed on the same team" he explains, his gruff voice carrying an air of authority and gesturing towards the guild attendants circulating through the crowd, each carrying a small wooden box.
"Here you go" a young woman with fiery red hair and a smattering of freckles across her nose says, offering the box with a warm smile as others make their way through the throng of hopefuls, each adventurer eagerly reaching into the boxes to pluck out their token. Naruto reaches in as his fingers close around a smooth, hexagonal token, its surface adorned with the intricate etching of a phoenix. He lifts it to the light, marveling at the intricate details that seem to dance across the polished surface. A low chuckle draws his attention and naruto turns to find the half-orc woman appraising him with a mixture of disdain but also amusement, "Well.. Well.. Looks like we'll be working together... Runt" she rumbles, her voice dripping with condescension as she holds up a token bearing an identical phoenix emblem.
"So it would seem" naruto says after bristling at her dismissive tone, his jaw clenching as he meets her emerald gaze with a defiant glare and creating some tension but a melodious voice cut through the tension.
"Ah.. It seems we share the same symbol" a lithe figure clad in flowing robes of midnight blue says, her raven tresses spilling over her shoulders like a waterfall of silk. Piercing amethyst eyes regard naruto with a hint of curiosity and he couldn't help but be captivated by her ethereal beauty. The half-orc snorts with her lip curling in disdain, "Great.. A runt and a pretty-boy mage.. This is going to be a Grand adventure" she drawls, her tone laced with sarcasm. Naruto is about to open his mouth to retort but the mage holds up a slender hand and her gaze flickering towards the half-orc with a hint of reproach, "Peace my muscular friend.. We are to be comrades in this endeavor.. Let us put aside our differences and focus on the task at hand" she chides gently. The half-orc scowls and is clearly unimpressed by the mage's diplomatic overtures but naruto finds himself intrigued by the woman's calm demeanor and elegant poise.
"I am Zephara... A pleasure to make your acquaintance" the mage introduces herself, offering a graceful bow.
"Naruto Uzumaki.. And I'm sure the pleasure is all mine" naruto replies, inclining his head in return. The half-orc rolls her eyes and her massive frame practically quivering with impatience, "Nazira.. Now that the pleasantries are out of the way.. Can we get on with this" she grunts, her tone curt and brusque.
"Of course.. Let us gather our supplies and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead" zephara acquiesces, smiling serenely and seemingly unfazed by nazira's abrasive manner. The trio set about gathering their provisions from the guild store but naruto couldn't help, feeling a sense of anticipation mingled with trepidation as the sword king's tomb promises to be a formidable challenge. The trio exit the guild hall and they were greeted by a line of sturdy wagons, each drawn by a powerful draft horse. A burly guild attendant approaches them, his weathered features etched with a welcoming smile.
"Ah.. You must be the phoenix team.. Your ride awaits" the guild attendant remarks, gesturing towards the nearest wagon. Nazira grunts and her emerald eyes appraises the wagon with a critical gaze, "Looks sturdy enough.. I suppose" she grumbles, her hand idly caressing the hilt of the greatsword strapped to her back. Zephara appoints herself the diplomat and offers the attendant a gracious smile, "Thank you for your assistance" she said, her melodic voice carrying a hint of warmth. Naruto nods his thanks with his gaze lingering on the wagon. It is a plain and utilitarian affair with a sturdy wooden frame and a canvas covering stretches over a skeletal framework of wooden beams. Naruto couldn't help but notice the curious glances cast their way by the other teams. Some seem amused by the unlikely trio, while others eye them with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.
"Quite the motley crew.. Good luck in there lads and lassies.. You'll need it" a gruff voice remarks, causing naruto to turn and find a burly dwarven warrior appraising them with a bemused expression. Nazira bristles with her hand tightening around the hilt of her sword as she levels a withering glare at the dwarf, "Watch your tongue Stumpy" she growls, her tone laced with menace. Zephara steps forward before the situation could escalate further as her lithe form gracefully inserts itself between the two, "Now.. Now.. Let us not allow tempers to flare.. We are all bound by a common goal" she chides gently, her amethyst eyes flickering between nazira and the dwarf. The dwarf snorts with his bushy beard twitching in amusement, "Aye.. No offense meant lass.. Just an old warrior's way of wishing you luck" he concedes, offering zephara a respectful nod before turning his attention back to nazira.
"She's good at calming things" naruto thought, be impressed by zephara's diplomatic handling of the situation. Her calm demeanor and soothing presence seems to have a tempering effect on even the most volatile of personalities. Nazira grunts as her glare softens ever so slightly as she meets the dwarf's gaze, "We'll see who needs luck" she retorts, though her tone lacked its previous edge and they begin to load into the wagons as other teams do the same. The wagon wheels creak and groan as the convoy rumble along the well-trodden road out of arquis through its north gate. Towering trees line the route, their branches stretching overhead like a verdant canopy, dappling the road with patches of sunlight.
"If you don't mind me asking.. Where do you both hail from" zephara inquires, her melodic voice tinged with curiosity as her lithe form swaying gently with the wagon's motions. Nazira's muscular frame is lounging against the wagon's wooden slats and grunts noncommittally, "Around" she mutters, her emerald gaze fixed on the passing scenery. Zephara arches a delicate brow and her amethyst eyes sparkling with amusement, "A woman of few words I see" she remarks, her tone light and teasing. Naruto chuckles and shakes his head at nazira's brusque response, "I'm from the Eastern Continent.. The Elemental Nations and its Ninja Villages" he offers, his voice carrying a hint of wistfulness. Zephara's eyes widen and her interest is piqued, "A Ninja?!.. Truly.. I've heard tales of your kind.. Masters of stealth and combat.. Wielding extraordinary abilities" she says and leans forward, her gaze studying naruto with newfound curiosity.
"The tales tend to exaggerate.. But yes.. I was trained in the ways of the shinobi from a young age" naruto demurs, a faint smile tugging at his lips. Nazira snorts with her disdain palpable, "Fancy tricks and illusions won't do you much good in the Tomb.. It's going to take more than a few parlor tricks to survive" she growls, her fingers idly caressing the hilt of her greatsword but eyes naruto's gungir. Naruto bristles at her dismissive tone and his jaw clenches but before he could retort, does zephara holds up a slender hand, her amethyst eyes flickering between the two with a hint of reproach.
"Now.. Now.. Let us not allow tensions to fray so early in our journey.. We are comrades in this endeavor and bickering amongst ourselves will only serve to hinder our progress" zehpara chides gently. Nazira simply grunts with her scowl deepening but she remains silent and her gaze fixed resolutely on the path ahead. Zephara's expression softens into a warm smile as she turned her attention back to naruto, "Icewind Dale is where I hail from.. A harsh and unforgiving land where the bitter winds howl relentlessly.. And the frost-coated peaks pierce the sky like jagged daggers" she confides and pauses, "From a young age.. I was trained in the arcane arts by the elders of my village.. Magic or as you know Chakra is not merely a tool to us... It is a way of life and woven into the very fabric of our existence" she adds, her gaze growing distant as memories of her homeland resurfaced. Naruto finds himself captivated by her words and drawn into the vivid imagery she paints, "It sounds like a formidable place" he remarks, his curiosity piqued.
"Indeed.. It is a land that demands resilience and fortitude from its inhabitants.. The harsh winters can be unforgiving and the creatures that roam the frozen wastes are truly formidable" zephara says, her lips curving into a wistful smile. Nazira snorts and her emerald gaze flicks towards zephara with a hint of skepticism, "Sounds like a miserable place to call home" she grunts, her tone gruff.
"Perhaps to those unaccustomed to its challenges.. But for those born and raised amidst the icy winds.. It is a land of rugged beauty and untamed majesty" zephara acknowledges and undeterred, meeting nazira's gaze with a serene expression.
"I can only imagine what it must have been like.. Growing up in such a place" naruto muses, intrigued by the idea of a place so vastly different from the one he knows.
"The elders would take us on treks through the frozen peaks.. Teaching us to navigate the treacherous terrain and commune with the ancient spirits that dwelled within the ice and snow.. We learned to harness the raw power of the elements.. Shaping them to our will through the intricate weaving of arcane energies" zephara says, her eyes seeming to sparkle with fond memories.
"That is pretty amazing" naruto remarks, his eyes alight with fascination as the wagon rumbles along the well-trodden path.
"Indeed.. The legacy of our people is a profound one.. Steeped in ancient traditions and an intimate connection with the natural world" zephara says, her lips curving into a warm smile and her amethyst eyes sparkling with pride. Nazira snorts again as her muscular frame shifts against the wagon's wooden slats, "All this mystical mumbo-jumbo is well and good.. But it won't mean much when we're deep in the Tomb and fighting for our lives" she grunts, her emerald gaze flickering towards zephara.
"You underestimate the power of the arcane.. Magic can be a formidable ally in even the direst of circumstances" zephara chides while arching a delicate brow, her expression serene. Nazira scoffs her hand caressing the hilt of her greatsword, "I'll stick to good old steel and muscle.. Reliable.. Just like me" she rumbles, patting the sword too. Naruto couldn't help but chuckle at the half-orc's gruff demeanor, "I've seen my fair share of battles.. And while steel and muscle are indeed formidable assets.. There have been times when a little magic could have turned the tide" he interjects, his voice carrying a hint of reminiscence. Nazira levels him with a skeptical look and her emerald gaze appraising him carefully, "You've seen real combat Runt?!" she questions, her tone laced with doubt and naruto shoots her a look but zephara intervenes.
"Now.. Now let us not devolve into petty squabbles" zephara says, her melodic voice cutting through the rising tension and nazira grunts and remains silent.
"Please continue.. I would be most intrigued to hear of your experiences" zephara encourages and looks to naruto, a reassuring smile playing across her lips. Naruto nods with his expression somber as memories of his past resurfaced, "Back home... I lived in the shadow of my twin brother Boruto... He was hailed as a prodigy from a young age and I was compared to him in in every aspect of our shinobi training" he begins, his voice tinged with a hint of melancholy.
"We learned to harness our Chakra or Magic.. Channeling it into powerful techniques that could turn the tide of battle.. But no matter how hard I tried.. I was Always compared to Boruto" naruto continues, as his gaze grows distance and his mind's eye conjuring vivid images of his childhood. Zephara's expression softens and her amethyst eyes shining with understanding, "The burden of living up to others' expectations can be a heavy one" she murmurs, her melodic voice offering solace.
"Yeah... That's why two and a half years ago.. I left everything behind to forge my own path.. I was tired of being overshadowed.. Constantly living in the shadow of someone else's greatness.. I wanted to carve out my own destiny.. To prove that I was more than just a pale reflection of my brother's brilliance" naruto says, his gaze hardening with determination. Nazira snorts and her emerald eyes flicker with a hint of begrudging respect, "Takes guts to turn your back on everything like that" she rumbles, her gruff tone belying her admiration.
"It wasn't an easy decision but it was one I had to make.. I needed to find my own path.. To discover what I was truly capable of without the weight of expectations bearing down on me" naruto says, a faint smile playing on his face and meeting nazira's gaze. The wagon rumbles onwards and naruto's gaze grows distant once more, his mind lost in the memories of his journey. The challenges he had faced, the loves he has found and the growth he has undergone. It is a tale of self-discovery, of forging one's own destiny and of breaking free from the shackles of others' expectations.
シーンブレイク
Back in arquis and at the temporary housing area is isane moving with the fluid grace of a dancer, her lithe form a blur of motion as she spars with her shadow clone. The morning sun casts a warm glow over the scene, bathing the swaying grasses in a golden hue. Isane's rapier flashes through the air, a silvery blur that sings with each precise thrust and parry. Her shadow clone mirrors her movements with uncanny precision, their blades clashing in a flurry of steel and sparks.
"Your footwork is sloppy.. You'll never best me at this rate" isane chides, her melodic voice carrying a hint of playful reproach. Her clone arches an elegant brow and its gray eyes sparkling with mirth, "Ah but you forget.. I am but a reflection of your own skill" it counters, its movements seamless as it deflected isane's rapier with a deft flick of the wrist. Isane laughs and it is a melodious sound that seems to dance on the gentle breeze, "Touché" she concedes, her lips curving into a radiant smile. Liam and moondancer were grazing peacefully with their tails swishing lazily as they move about the shared corral. The tranquil scene is a stark contrast to the flurry of blades that filled the air, a harmonious juxtaposition of serenity and intensity. Isane's rapier whirl in an intricate pattern as the steel catches the sunlight and casting dazzling reflections across the lush meadow. Her shadow clone responds in kind, their blades clashing in a rhythmic dance of parries and thrusts.
"You've grown complacent.. Perhaps it's time I took the lead in our little dance" the clone taunts, its gray eyes alight with mischief. The clone launches into a dizzying series of strikes with a fluid motion, its rapier a blur of steel that seems to come from every angle. Isane parries and deflects each blow with graceful precision, her movements fluid and effortless.
"Complacent?!.. Hardly.. I merely enjoy savoring the subtle nuances of our dance" isane echoes, her voice tinged with amusement. Their blades meet with a resounding clash and the metallic ring echoing across the meadow. They stood locked in a tableau of grace and power for a moment, their rapiers crossed as their gazes meet and their eyes shining with a fierce determination.
"Shall we take this up a notch then" isane murmurs, her lips curving into a coy smile. She disengages without warning and her lithe form spinning in a whirlwind of motion. Her rapier dances through the air and weaving an intricate web of steel that her clone struggled to match.
"Impressive.. But not quite enough.. You're learning so quickly" the clone remarks, its brow furrowed in concentration as it parries and deflects isane's relentless assault. The clone's rapier snakes past isane's defenses with a deft flick of its wrist and the tip hovering mere inches from her throat. Isane's eyes widen and her lips parting in a breathless gasp but for a heartbeat, the world seems to freeze with the only sound the gentle rustle of the grasses in the breeze. A slow smile spreads across isane's features as her gaze shines with pride and admiration, "Well played" she concedes, lowering her rapier in a graceful flourish. The clone inclines its head with a faint smile gracing its lips, "A mere reflection of your own skills.. As always and you'll learn from me" it murmurs, its voice a melodic echo of isane's own.
"Indeed" isane says, as the clone dissipated in a puff of smoke and she gains it memories. Isane then turns her gaze to the horses as her expression softens with affection. Liam and moondancer have wandered closer, their gentle whickering and the rhythmic swish of their tails a soothing accompaniment to the tranquil scene. Isane sheathes her rapier into sword belt holster and crosses the grounds with languid strides to join her equine companions. Her fingers trail through liam's silken mane and the stallion nuzzled her palm, his warm breath tickling her skin.
"Magnificent creatures" a voice murmurs and isane turns to find ceras bulga approaching, her brown eyes shining with seriousness. Isane offers a graceful bow to the S-class adventurer, "Indeed.. What brings you here" she replies, her melodic voice tinged with affection as she strokes liam's velvety mane. Ceras returns the gesture with a respectful nod, "I have one of the temporary houses.. I couldn't help but notice your impressive swordsmanship" she explains, her gaze flickering towards the sparring are where isane had been moments earlier.
"My swordsmanship stems from the teachings of my Grandfather and Uncles.. They trained me when I was little" isane begins, her melodic voice tinged with nostalgia. She turns to strokes moondancer's silken mane, "Yet.. My true calling lay in the Magic like my mother.. So I gave up swordsmanship to become a Mage and Healer" isane continues as the mare nuzzles her palm affectionately, "However.. It was not until recently my beloved Naruto.. Rekindled my passion for the blade.. He awakened within me a newfound appreciation for the elegance and discipline of swordplay.. Reminding me of the harmony that can be found in the dance of steel" she finishes, a faint smile curves isane's lips as she meets ceras' inquisitive gaze.
"Ah.. The Knight-errant from Zeppoli" ceras remarks, her brown eyes shining with recognition and remembering their brief encounter months ago.
"Yes.. He's originally from the Eastern Continent but thanks to him.. I am embracing both paths.. Weaving together the arcane and the martial into a singular but cohesive form.. The rapier became an extension of my will.. A conduit for the intricate weaving of spells and the precise strikes of a seasoned duelist" isane states, her gray eyes shining with a fierce determination.
"Each thrust.. Each parry is infused with the essence of the arcane.. Imbuing my strikes with a potency that transcends mere steel" isane says after drawing her rapier, the silvery blade catching the sunlight and casting a dazzling reflection. Ceras watches as her brown eyes gleam with intrigue while isane executes a series of fluid motions, her rapier tracing intricate patterns through the air. With each graceful flourish, a faint shimmer of energy rippled outwards and dissipating into the gentle breeze.
"Interesting to wield both the arcane and the martial is truly a sight to behold" ceras murmurs, her brow furrowed in contemplation and isane inclines her while sheathing her rapier.
"I sense there is much more you can learn Isane Kotetsu... Perhaps we could spar sometime and I could impart some of my wisdom upon you and perhaps your beloved Naruto" ceras says, her expression one of newfound respect.
"I would be honored.. I know Naruto would be as well" isane says, her lips curving into a warm smile. The two exchange knowing glances and the horses whickered softly as if sensing the undercurrent of a future clash of titans that crackles in the air.
