The next day, Chris and Martin were chasing some species of Sonoran Desert lizard.
"What kind of lizard is that?" Chris said.
"We'll find out as soon as we catch him." Martin said, panting.
"Ho-ho! After that mystery lizard!" Chris shouted.
They continued to chase after the "mystery lizard", as if they were like Wile E. Coyote and it was like the Road Runner, the two main characters from the famous animated TV Series, and then, as leapt over a rock, as Martin tried to quickly grab it, he instead got a pair of handfuls of prickly pear cactus spines.
"Owww!" Martin screamed in pain as Chris ran past him, laughing at his mishap.
Then, as the "mystery lizard" rushed through a crevice in some rocks, Chris crashed into them, without noticing, and fell on his back as Martin rushed past. As the "mystery lizard" ran out the other side through another crevice, the Kratt Brothers continued chasing after it until they came to 2 narrow ledges that almost touched each other, as the "mystery lizard" hopped across and continued running, and Chris and Martin quickly stopped and carefully stepped onto the other ledge, which then suddenly cracked and broke off under them, sending them plummeting into the canyon below.
"Ahhhh!" Both brothers screamed in unison as they stood on top of the broken-off ledge, before hitting the ground, creating a giant hole in it with the broken-off ledge. "Oof!"
They then emerge from the giant hole they made, groaning and coughing, before seeing the "mystery lizard" run past them, closeby.
"Hmm..." Martin pondered.
Meanwhile, back and the Tortuga, Koki was making a Supply Run list.
"And we only have two good tires for the Createrra left." Koki said. "We need to replenish our stocks of solar panels. I've got a big list. We really have to go to the nearest town to get supplies. Like, now!"
"Aye, Martin and Chris aren't going to be psyched about that." Aviva said. "You know they'll say something like, "But we just got here to the Sonoran Desert," and "We've only met a few of the creatures who live here!"."
And they both giggled.
"But we can't wait any longer, and that's the point." Koki said. "We're in a desert and we're also running out of water."
Then a car horn was heard honking frantically.
"Hey, why don't we just take the Createrra?" Jimmy said, as he was munching on a bag of nachos with Amber and Tyrana, while Skylie, Bumpo, Hornster and Grubby were with them as well. "That way, we get the stuff we need and the bros can keep exploring."
Amber, Tyrana, Skylie, Bumpo, Hornster and Grubby agreed with Jimmy.
"Did you see this list?" Koki said. "We need too much stuff. It's time for our giant annual Tortuga resupply!"
"Yeah, come to think of it, I am running low on a lot of important materials for Creature Power Suit programming." Aviva said.
"Uh-Oh, and what if we run out of snacks?" Jimmy said. "Including all our Dinos' favorites?"
"Water!" Martin's voice was heard.
Then, he and Chris crawled back into the Tortuga, coughing and gasping weakly.
"Water... water... We need water!" Martin said, weakly.
"Whew! The desert is giving us a beating." Chris said.
Martin starts drinking water from the tap of the water dispenser, when Chris then placed a plastic cup over him.
"Hey!" Martin said.
"Gotcha!" Chris said. "Huh?"
Martin used a drill to drill a hole in the bottom of the cup and drank the water leaking out through it.
"Guys, knock it off. We have to conserve!" Koki said. "This is our last bottle of water. Aviva and I have just decided we have to leave now and go to town and get resupplied."
"What?" Both brothers said in unison.
"But we just got here to the Sonoran Desert." Chris said.
"And we've only met a few of the creatures who live here!" Martin said.
"I told you." Aviva said.
Amber and Tyrana shook their heads and Bumpo and Hornster snorted unimpressedfully.
"I know, but we've run out of so many things and-" Koki said, before being interrupted.
"Oh-No! This is the last bag of nachos, and we have no more salsa!" Jimmy said.
"Oh yeah, you do have to have salsa for your nachos, especially when you're adventuring in the desert Southwest." Martin said.
"Wait a second, we can't go now." Chris said. "We're just on the tail of that speedy little mystery lizard over there. Leaving now is against the Wild Kratts Creature Adventuring Code of Conduct."
"Yeah, you're right, bro." Martin said. "Got to stay until we know exactly who that mystery lizard is."
"Whoever it is, it'll be a new animal for our Life List." Chris said, before he noticed Martin using a pair of binoculars.
"Seeing through binoculars doesn't count." Chris said. "We have to see it up close and personal to add it to our Life List."
"I know, but at least we'd know what we're trying to get a closer look at." Martin said.
Just then, Bumpo and Grubby bumped Chris and Martin each in the leg, causing Chris to let go of the binoculars and Martin to drop them by accident.
"Oops!" Martin said.
Then the binoculars shattered, before Martin picked them back up and looked through them.
"Whoa!" Martin said, as he looked through the now-broken binoculars. "It has two tails, three eyes and-"
"Uh, Martin?" Chris said, as Martin turned to him, still looked through the broken binoculars.
"Ahhh!" Martin said.
"The binoculars are broken." Chris said.
Bumpo and Grubby secretly smirked and winked at each other.
"Now we have another reason to head to the nearest town: new binoculars." Koki said. "Come on, guys, get packed up and ready to go."
"Please, just five more minutes?" Chris said.
"Oh, come on!" Martin said. "We just have to get close to that speedy mystery lizard!"
"Just five more minutes." Chris begged.
"Please?" Both brothers begged in unison.
"Fine, I have to still realign the Tortuga's hover thrusters before we take off." Koki said. "I can give you... half an hour."
"Woo-hoo! Alright!" Chris said.
"Yeah! Alright!" Martin said.
"Oh! And hey, any volunteers from the Jurassic Siblings to help us out?" Martin said.
"Yeah, we could use some extra help."
But none of the Jurassic Siblings seemed interested.
They then help up two of the Jurassic Siblings' favorite treats; beef jerky and pepperoni, as encouragement and persuasion.
Amber and Tyrana perked up in delight and immediately joined the Kratt Brothers by their sides.
"Alright!" Both brothers said as they gave Amber and Tyrana the beef jerky and pepperoni, before they all then set off.
"Thanks, Koki!" Chris said.
"Yeah, we'll be right back!" Martin said.
"Sure you will." Koki said, sarcastically, as Aviva joined her by her side.
Meanwhile, the Kratt brothers had come up with another plan by creating a slingshot.
"All right, this will be great." Martin said.
"As soon as I spot the lizard..." Chris said.
"I'll let you go, and then you'll go flying after him." Martin said.
"And I can grab that mystery lizard as I fly by." Chris said.
Martin, Amber and Tyrana struggled as they pulled on the pad of the slingshot as hard as they could.
"I should've activated Bear Powers or something strong." Martin said. "Ugh! You see the lizard?"
"Not yet. Could be a while." Chris said.
"Oh, there he is!" Martin said, as he, Amber and Tyrana all accidentally let go of the slingshot pad, sending Chris flying.
"Ahhhhhh!" Chris screamed. "It's... it's... it's a…"
The "mystery lizard" soon came into view, but Chris then noticed something he was about to crash into that he wasn't gonna like, about what was going to happen next.
"Cactus." Chris moaned.
Chris then suddenly crashed into a saguaro cactus and hung upside down from it.
"Mommy." Chris whimpered, hilariously.
"Chris, what are you doing up there?" Martin said, as he, Amber and Tyrana caught up to Chris. "The mystery lizard is getting away."
"I'm kind of... stuck." Chris said.
"Oh, yeah. Here, let us get you down." Martin said, as he grabbed onto Chris' head and Amber and Tyrana grabbed onto his shorts, and they all pulled as hard as they could.
"Wait, wait, care- Ow, ow, ow, careful!" Chris said, as they all pulled a little too hard. "Oh great, I'm in the middle of a tug of war between my brother and two of our dinosaurs, and a saguaro cactus.
At last, Martin, Amber and Tyrana managed to rip Chris off of the cactus and pull him free of it.
"We can't give up, but that mystery lizard is so fast." Martin said.
"I don't know if anything out here can catch him." Chris said.
"Shhh. There he is." Martin said.
"He's a..." Chris said.
"He's a..." Martin said.
"Roadrunner!" Both brothers said in unison.
"Whoa, look at them go!" Martin said.
"The Roadrunner is gaining!" Chris said.
They then got up and ran after the "mystery lizard" and the Roadrunner, as the latter then caught the former right offscreen, and started eating it.
"Oh-No." Chris said.
"We have to find another mystery lizard." Martin said, as the Roadrunner swallowed the "mystery lizard" whole.
"Wow, I never realized a Roadrunner is as big as a Chicken." Chris said.
"And twice as fast." Martin said. "I got to see that again. Okay Roadrunner, show us your stuff. On your marks, get set... run!"
But the Roadrunner didn't run.
"Uh, run! Go! Race off!" Martin said. "Uh, Roadrunners don't listen very well."
Just then, the Roadrunner instantly took off running.
"Speedometer!" Martin said. "We need a speedometer!"
Chris then brought out a Speedometer.
"Whoa! 26 miles an hour." Chris said. "That makes the Roadrunner one of the fastest-running birds in the world."
"Oh, and check out that aerodynamic running posture." Martin said.
"But with his head down." Chris said. "He's not running with his head out. I don't think he can see where he's going, because he's running right into a... Cactus!"
Then, they watched as the Roadrunner flapped his wings and flew up onto the cactus.
"Ha ha, of course! We should've seen that coming." Martin said. "A Roadrunner can fly, but he just prefers to run most of the time."
Martin, Chris, Amber and Tyrana then went up to the Cactus the Roadrunner was perched on.
"Ho-oh, I love how the Roadrunner uses vantage points, like cactus, or rocks, to perch and scan for prey." Martin said.
"And then when he spots something, he runs off after it." Chris said.
"Oh, and what a great Creature Power that would be to have." Martin said. "Could you imagine? Roadrunner Powers!"
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, brother?"
"Oh, yeah, I'm thinking what you're thinking." Martin said.
"We convince Aviva-" Chris said.
"-to secretly make us Roadrunner powers-" Martin said.
"-then use them to catch up
with the mystery lizard-" Chris said.
"-and get back to
the Tortuga-" Martin said.
"-before Koki even knows
she was gone." Chris said.
"Yes!" Both brothers said in unison.
But then Amber and Tyrana nudged them and gave them unsure looks.
"Oh, come on, you two, since whenever did either of you both each get a conscience of some kind or some sort?" Chris said.
"Yeah, we've seen you both and your siblings do mischievous stuff like this all the time as well." Martin said. "So what do you two even care?"
Amber and Tyrana just exchanged unimpressed looks and then snorted dismissively.
Chris then brought out his CreaturePod and contacted Aviva.
"Hey Chris, what's up?" Aviva asked.
"Shh! Not so loud!" Chris said.
"Oh." Aviva said. "Hey, Chris. Why are we whispering?"
"Uh..." Chris said, before Martin appeared.
"So we don't startle this awesome Roadrunner." Martin said. "Uh, you should probably whisper too."
"Hey, why don't you come out here and check out this Roadrunner?" Chris suggested. "It is the fastest-running bird in North America."
"Oh, and don't forget, never go anywhere without your Mobile Invention Kit." Martin said.
"What?" Aviva said. "Why would I bring my Mobile Invention Kit? We're getting ready to leave, remember?"
"Well, uh... a good inventor is always prepared!" Martin said.
"Yeah, okay. Fine." Aviva said, as she took her M.I.K with her to the garage ramp. "Where are you guys?"
"We're right over here at the saguaro cactus." Chris said.
"Oh. Cactus..." Aviva said, as she looked out at all the saguaro cactuses in the area. "Which one?"
"The one with the Roadrunner on it." Martin said.
"Oh, Okay. I'll be right there!" Aviva said, before she then remembered to whisper. "I mean, I'll be right there."
"Aviva, you've got to see this bird!" Martin said, as Aviva arrived. "You got here pretty fast, but this bird can run even faster. Faster than any two-legged creature out here. Meet the super-speedy birdie... the Roadrunner!"
"Nice to meet you." Aviva said, as the Roadrunner puffs and fluffs his head feathers up and down. "Hey, what's he doing that for?"
"Because he's curious, and friendly, but get ready for what he's famous for..." Chris said, as the Roadrunner then jumped off the cactus and took off running. "Running!"
"Check out that stretched-out pose." Martin said. "Look at those legs move."
"He is some impressive sprinter." Aviva said, amazed.
"Aren't Roadrunner powers spectacular?" Martin said. "So Aviva, would you love Programming a Roadrunner Power Disc or what?"
"Yeah, how about it, Aviva?" Chris said. "You think you could just make us a Roadrunner Power Suit real quick?"
"Yeah, but... Koki's all ready to leave." Aviva said.
"Oh, with a super-speedy Roadrunner suit, we could identify that mystery lizard in no time, and then be on our way!" Martin said.
"I guess I could quickly modify the peregrine falcon suit, and focus on the running powers." Aviva said. "The basilisk lizard is similar in its leg action, minus the water-walking features."
"Please?" Both brothers begged in unison.
"Okay, I'll do it!" Aviva said. "But don't tell Koki."
"We won't." Chris said.
"Not a word." Martin said.
Aviva sets up her M.I.K and giggles as the Roadrunner hops up onto it and makes eye contact with her, Amber and Tyrana.
Just then, Chris' CreaturePod starts beeping, and then Koki appears on a holographic screen.
"Okay, it's time to go!" Koki said.
"Oh, hi, Koki." Chris said, as Martin joined next to him. "Could we have five more minutes?"
"Five more minutes? I already gave you an extra half-hour." Koki said.
"Uh..." Chris said, before Martin bumped him away with his rear. "Whoa!"
"Here's the thing, Koki." Martin said. "Chris bumped into a cactus, and it'll take us a while to get all the spines out."
"Ow!" Chris yelped as he pulled a spine out.
"Well, okay, fine, but hurry." Koki said. "The Tortuga hub struts could use a realignment. I'll give you another half-hour, but not a minute more."
Martin and Aviva gave each other a thumbs up.
"Oh, so that's what you come up with?" Chris asked. "Shoving your brother into a cactus?"
He then pulled another spine out of his nose.
"That's the first thing I thought of." Martin said, as he began to pull Chris off of the cactus.
"Whoa, Oof! Ow." Chris said.
Aviva giggled and Amber and Tyrana each made a snickering, laugh-like growl.
"It'll be perfect timing, Chris." Aviva said. "By the time you get those cactus spines out, I'll have finished programming Roadrunner Powers."
"And meanwhile, I'll come up with a name for you." Martin said to the Roadrunner.
As minutes passed...
"Hmm, Speed Bump?" Martin said.
"Hmm." Aviva said.
"Ow!" Chris said, as he pulled out another spine.
"Pothole?" Martin said.
"Almost there..." Aviva said.
"Ow!" Chris said, as he pulled out another spine.
"Gah!" Chris said, as he pulled out another spine, which was the last one.
"Got it!" They all said in unison.
"Whew, no more spines!" Chris said.
"I'll name you... Speed Limit!" Martin said.
"Programming complete!" Aviva said. "But there's only one blank Power Disc to put the Roadrunner powers on! Koki was right, we really do need to go get resupplied. Martin, Chris, you have to decide which of your existing discs you want to erase. That's the only way both of you get a Roadrunner Power Disc."
"What?!" Both brothers said in unison.
"Erase one of these?!" Chris said.
"Gecko Powers?" Martin said. "No way, I'm not going to erase my ability to walk upside-down on glass. Oh, and forget about erasing Orangutan Powers. Do you remember what we had to go through to get this?"
"Yeah!" Chris said. "There's no way we could erase one of our Creature Power Discs for a new one, even if it is Roadrunner Powers we're talking about. But we could share one Roadrunner Power Disc between us."
We could." Martin said. "One of us will try to catch the lizard with Roadrunner Powers, the other one can help with another desert animal power that they have encountered that would prey on lizards, like... Rattlesnake Powers!"
"Great plan!" Chris said.
"Alright, guys, it's ready." Aviva said, as she hands Chris the Roadrunner Power Disc.
"And I'll start with the Roadrunner Powers." Chris said.
"What?" Martin said. "Hey, no fair! Why you?"
"Because I'm the one whose brother bumped him into a cactus!" Chris said.
"Oh. He did get me back." Martin said.
"Now that you have Roadrunner Rowers, you better identify that mystery lizard, and fast!" Aviva said. "And then get back to the ship so we can get resupplied."
"We're on it!" Both brothers said in unison.
"Oh, and why don't you also take Amber and Tyrana with you as well?" Martin said.
"Yeah. Thanks for the help, you two." Chris said, as he offered them some pieces of beef jerky as a reward for their help.
Then Speed Limit took off running.
"Hey, Speed Limit, wait up!" Chris said.
"Okay, Rattlesnakes, where are you hiding?" Martin said.
"Don't be late." Aviva said. "Don't get me in trouble with Koki."
She then turned to Amber and Tyrana.
"Come on, Amber, and Tyrana, let's get you both back to the Tortuga."
Speed Limit was still running, until he stopped temporarily, and then took off running again just as Chris was about to touch him in order to activate Roadrunner Powers.
"Oh, how am I going to catch up to this bird when he has Roadrunner Powers and I don't?" Chris wondered.
Speed Limit then quickly caught and ate a Cricket.
"I have an idea!" Chris said. "The old CreaturePod projection trick!"
He then projected a holographic Cricket from his CreaturePod and then Speed Limit saw it, then raced over to it and pecked at it, unaware that it wasn't a real Cricket.
"Activate Roadrunner Powers!" Chris said, as he then touched Speed Limit with the tip of his pointer finger, then pressed the Activation Button and activated into Roadrunner Powers.
"Thanks, buddy." Chris said to Speed Limit. "Now, where's that mystery lizard?"
He then takes off running.
"Which way did he go? Nothing." Chris said, as he then flies up onto a cactus. "Hmm... No sign of him."
He then flies back down to the ground and keeps on running.
"Nothing but desert." Chris said. "Where are you, mystery lizard? That lizard's got to be around here somewhere! I'll catch up with him somehow!"
Meanwhile, Martin was still looking for a Rattlesnake, when he then hears one hissing and rattling closeby. He then crawls over and peaks over from behind a rock and finds a Rattlesnake that has just recently shed its skin.
"Don't worry, buddy, I'm hearing you rattle me a warning, but I'm just going to grab your shed skin." Martin said, as he carefully reached over from behind the rock and then quickly grabbed the shed Snake skin and pulled back as the Rattlesnake then stuck at his hand, missing it. "You don't need this anymore, right? I mean, you shed your skin every 4 months. And I must say your new skin looks spectacular."
The Rattlesnake then hissed and rattled.
"Are you kidding me?" Martin said. "I wasn't going to touch you, but I am going to... Activate Rattlesnake Powers!"
He then activated into Rattlesnake Powers and rattled his tail.
The Rattlesnake then hissed and rattled again.
"Oh, okay, okay, I get it! I'll find my own place to ambush a mystery lizard." Martin said, as he slithered off.
Meanwhile, Chris was still searching for a "mystery lizard" in Roadrunner Powers, and soon spotted one.
"There it is, Another mystery lizard!" Chris said, as he then raced after it. "Yep, makes perfect sense. The Roadrunner is so fast, his hunting strategy is to run down lizards, even really fast lizards like the mystery lizard."
The "mystery lizard" then races into some furry plant stalks.
"Whoa! He's trying to lose me in those furry plant stalks." Chris said.
Just then, a hungry Coyote appeared from the bushes.
"Whoa! Coyote!" Chris shrieked.
The Coyote approached Chris menacingly, and then Chris immediately raced off, as the Coyote chased after him.
"Hey, I'm sure I remember from somewhere that Roadrunners are simply too fast for Coyotes." Chris said. "Now where'd I hear that? The Albuquerque Zoo? No wait, maybe the Hoboken Wildlife Center? Or did Martin tell me about that? Hmm, wherever I heard it, I'm pretty sure it's true."
Just then, Martin contacted Chris on his CreaturePod.
"Sounds kind of familiar, but I don't think I told you that." Martin said. "Coyotes "can" catch Roadrunners, so watch your tail!"
"Yeah, I kind of figured that out." Chris said, as it turns out, the Coyote snagged, and was holding, him by his tail feathers. "Deactivate!"
He quickly deactivated, surprising the Coyote.
"Sorry about that." Chris said, as the Coyote then turned and ran off.
"Hey, don't worry, Chris." Martin laughed. "I'm used to covering for you. Right now, though, I've got an unsuspecting mystery lizard heading my way."
But the "mystery lizard" he was stalking then turned and ran off in a different direction.
"Hey, where are you going?" Martin said. "I didn't even strike yet."
Just then, a hungry Roadrunner appeared and quickly grabbed Martin by the tail.
"Uh-Oh!" Martin said, before the Roadrunner pulled him back. "Gaaah!"
"Oh, I knew that Roadrunners ate reptiles, but Roadrunners eat Rattlesnakes?!" Martin inquired.
He then tried to take his tail back.
"Give me that!" Martin said, as he pulled his tail out of the Roadrunner's beak, before he then confronted the Roadrunner.
"Okay, this is easy." Martin said. "I'll try an awesome Rattlesnake rattle-and-strike move to scare this hungry Roadrunner away. How about this?"
Martin then rattled his tail, but the Roadrunner wasn't the least bit intimidated, and, therefore, didn't back off.
"So, you're not going to listen to a warning?" Martin said. "Then... strike!"
He then struck at the Roadrunner, who quickly stepped aside to dodge him.
"Oof! Wow, you Roadrunners are quick on your feet." Martin admitted. "What?"
Then, another Roadrunner showed up.
"And I definitely didn't know that Roadrunners could hunt in teams." Martin said, before the two Roadrunners then grabbed him by his head and tail with the beaks. "Wha- what?"
Martin groaned in pain as they pulled on him, and then one of them let go of him.
"Gaaahhh! Or whip... Snakes... back... and forth... to subdue them!" Martin shouted, as the other Roadrunner whipped him back and forth. "Deactivate!"
He quickly deactivated as the Roadrunner was now pulling on his ear.
"Uh, okay, now that hurts a little." Martin said.
"And you said you were covering for me?" Chris said, as he showed up.
"Well, it would be a little easier to find that mystery lizard if I had Roadrunner Powers." Martin said, as the Roadrunner lets go of his ear and hops up onto his head. "My turn."
"Here you go." Chris said, as he brought out the Roadrunner Disc and gave it to Martin.
"Activate Roadrunner Powers!" Martin said, as he inserted the disc into his Power Suit, pressed the Activation Button and activated into Roadrunner Powers. "Hey guys, you feel like catching a mystery lizard? Well you'd better start running, because I plan to catch him first."
Then, Chris' CreaturePod started beeping.
"Okay, guys, your second half-hour is up." Koki said. "What?! Aviva, you programmed them a new creature power?!"
Amber and Tyrana then gave Chris an "I told you so" look.
"Sorry, Koki, they said they would be fast." Aviva said.
"Ho-ho, I am fast!" Martin said. "A Roadrunner can run 26 miles per hour. And that's faster than any Lizard out here. There, a Lizard!"
He then raced over to where the Lizard was.
"Hey, wait a second." Martin said, realizing something. "You're not the mystery lizard. You're kind of round and chubby. Your legs are short and I doubt you're much of a runner, and with all those beads and really cool black-and-peach pattern... I'd recognize you anywhere. You're a Gila Monster, a venomous lizard who eats small birds and mammals."
Mistaking him for a real Roadrunner, The Gila Monster hissed and lunged at Martin.
"Uh-Oh." Martin said. "Deactivate!"
He quickly deactivated as the Gila Monster latches its jaws onto his boot.
"Ow." Martin said. "Ah, those are some strong jaws. I can even feel the pressure through my boot!"
"Gila monsters are also one of the most venomous lizards in the world, and Martin's been bitten!" Koki said.
She then activated an Alarm sound.
"Uh...Koki, wait." Martin said.
"A venomous bite from a Gila monster! We need an emergency medical evacuation!" Koki said. "I knew something would happen if we didn't leave on schedule."
Jimmy brought out a First-Aid Kit with medical supplies.
"We have to get Martin back to the Tortuga and give him Aviva's anti-venom shot." Koki said, as they rushed out the door.
"But Koki, I wasn't really bitten!" Martin said. "I was- he hasn't bitten through my boot. It's just that he won't let go and... uh, Jimmy?"
Annoyed by the alarm sound, Bumpo smashed the alarm button on Koki's computer with his tail club, and the alarm sound then stopped.
Koki then put an Ambulance siren on the Hoverbike, and attached a flat-topped medical carrier to the back of it, and they raced off to Martin.
"Koki?" Martin wondered.
Koki and Jimmy then quickly arrived.
"Oh yeah, this is an emergency! A big emergency!" Koki said, urgently. "Immobilize!"
"Hey, don't worry. The Gila mo-" Martin said, before Koki and Jimmy, who just wouldn't listen, wrapped him up in gauze, as the boot that the Gila Monster was still holding onto was pulled right off his foot.
"Immobilized!" Jimmy announced.
Martin's voice was muffled behind the gauze.
"Oh no, he's mumbling!" Koki said, as they got him onto the medical carrier. "We've got to hurry. To the Tortuga, ambulance speed!"
As they rushed off, Martin tossed the Roadrunner Power Disc to Chris as he, Aviva, Amber and Tyrana quickly arrived.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a second!" Chris said.
"Guys!" Aviva called.
"Martin's not hurt." Chris said. "Martin didn't get any venom from the Gila monster!"
"So he doesn't need my anti-venom shot!" Aviva called out.
But Koki and Jimmy still just stubbornly wouldn't listen.
"Oh... I've got to catch up to them, and fast." Chris said.
"You might want to talk to the Roadrunner." Aviva said, as Speed Limit then showed up.
"Good idea, Aviva." Chris said. "You know what, Speed Limit, To save my brother from getting an unnecessary shot, I need some speed. I need to... Activate Roadrunner Powers!"
He then quickly activated into Roadrunner Powers again.
"Want a lift?" Chris asked.
"Ha-ha, sure." Aviva replied, as she hopped onto his back with Amber and Tyrana.
"Let's go!" Chris said, as they rushed off to save Martin.
Koki and Jimmy got Martin back to the Tortuga and placed him on the electronic table.
"Martin, do you know your name? What's your favorite color? How many flashlights am I holding up?" Koki quizzed, testfully.
Martin's voice was still muffled behind the gauze.
"Can you feel anything when I do this?" Koki said, as she poked his chest.
Martin's voice was still muffling.
"It's no use." Koki said. "I can't understand him."
So, Jimmy removed the gauze covering his mouth.
"I'm not hurt!" Martin said.
"Yeah, you are!" Jimmy said. "You were bitten by a venomous Gila monster!"
"No, I wasn't." Martin said.
"He's delirious!" Koki said, as she prepares to administer the anti-venom shot. "He needs Aviva's anti-venom shot to stop the poison."
"No, no, no, wait!" Martin said. "Look, the Gila monster didn't bite through my adventure boot. No bite. No venom. See?"
"Oh." Koki said, feeling a bit silly.
Then, Chris, Aviva, Amber and Tyrana quickly arrived.
"Stop! Wait!" Aviva shouted.
"Martin wasn't bitten by a Gila monster." Chris said.
"We know." Koki said. "Another thing I know is I've got both Kratt brothers back on the Tortuga, and I'm not letting them go! Lockdown!"
"But Koki, we haven't completed our mission of discovering the identity of the mystery lizard." Martin said. "We can't leave the Sonoran Desert yet."
"Oh, yes, we can." Koki said. "We are going to get this Tortuga resupplied. Engage flying mode. Say goodbye to the Sonoran Desert."
"Uh, we can't say goodbye to the Sonoran Desert." Chris said.
"What?" Koki said. "Why? What are you up to?"
"Oh nothing, it's just that when I was running over here with my Roadrunner powers, I kind of caught the… mystery lizard!" Chris said.
And so, the "mystery lizard" really turned out to be a Sonoran Collared Lizard.
"A Collared Lizard! Of course!" Martin laughed. "Way to go, bro."
"And I brought it here to show everybody, but I didn't think we'd be leaving right away." Chris said. "You see, we can't take this Collared Lizard away from his wild desert home!"
"So, what you're telling me is that we have to turn around and go back so that the Collared Lizard can be living free and in the wild?" Koki asked.
"Exactly." Chris said.
Amber, Tyrana, Skylie, Bumpo, Hornster and Grubby each gave Koki a firm look.
"Okay, fine." Koki said. "We'll go back to the Sonoran Desert, but only for five more minutes.
"Okay, fine." Martin said.
"Sure." Chris said.
"That's all we'll need." Martin said.
And it's very likely that they got the Tortuga resupplied afterwards.
Author's Note:
Two down, three to go.
My apologies for yet again, another temporary delay.
