Chapter 48: A Cool Song
Important characters
Jessie (Male Tentacool/Ex Human)
Roma (Female Lapras)
Cyan (Female Primarina)
Mismagius (Female... yes)
Chatty (Still no gender Tentacool)
Mr. Mayor and Nurse Joy (oh good, these two are back)
Jessie grappled with the Tentacool Mummy, actively dripping with venom and rot. It continued attempting to bite him, despite not having teeth, a beak, or anything resembling a bone. Still, it wasn't exactly a welcoming sensation to be gummed on by something covered in poison and sharp boat parts, so he continued to resist!
-"Prima, prim rinaaa!" Cyan was attempting not to get splashed with poison while pulling the thing off of him, but this particular jellyfish was one slippery bastard.
"I thought it was like, boat oil or something! How was I supposed to know there was another Tentacool down there? My poison looks nothing like that stuff!"
-"Primarina! Pri?" She motions her head to point at her patchy fur, currently being peeled away by continued exposure to the corrosive venom.
"Haven't you seen what oil can do to a Psyduck? The stuff's nasty!"
-"Pri, pri." Giving up the point, the pair give one final push and finally dislodge the ornery half-pokemon from Jessie's face. It sails overhead and lands in the pile of parts left over by Cyan's earlier attack. Extending out it's tentacles, it pulls in all the intact pieces it can, melding and molding itself into the shape of a crazed kraken!
"There's just no end to this thing! And-" Searching his ammo bag, all that remain are a few snacks and a berry.
"-I'm all out of spikes!"
-"Primar..." Cyan weakly calls out, holding her throat.
"No more pp for your sonic attacks? Damn. As if things couldn't get worse."
-"Lap laaap!"
"ROMA?! Roma please tell me you didn't hear me say damn!"
-"La raas, Lapras?"
"Oh... I'm a terrible father."
-"Primarina! Rina rin?"
-"Oh you don't have to worry about the little one, sugar. No unsupervised minors when I'm around!" Apparating from the ether, Mismagius enters the battle!
Enraged by the interruption, the Chimera launches a web of toxic sea grass at the ghostly foe. She counters by fading out of existence, allowing the sludge to harmlessly sail through her.
-"Haha, gross! Let's have a little less of that now." Eyes glowing with Spite, the Chimera's energy is drained away, the seaweed falling limp at it's side.
This has little effect on it's aggression however as a powerful Hex shoots out of the monster.
-"Oh cr-"
"NO SWEARING!" Jessie takes the blow for Mismagius, finally giving up the ghost and falling to the ship's floor.
-"LAPRAAAS!"
-"Oh, okay. Sorry. I'll... I'll take this seriously now." Leaving the child to pull her father to safety, Mismagius glows with ethereal power.
-"You may want to get out of here, beautiful. My songs aren't pretty like yours are."
-"Prima."
As Cyan and crew flee the battle, Mismagius begins her song. A low droning wave passes through the ship, a cold stillness overtaking all.
A woman stands merrily on the bow of a ship, beautiful yet haunting songs blare out of the speaker overhead. A wash of merriment slurs the world like paint on a canvas. Drunk on champagne the passengers dance without care. A man kisses her wrist. Laughter. Silence. The music plays as a bite of icy water washes over the smiling woman. Instant horror as a life raft with too little room and too many rowdy people pushing and shoving one another sails away. The man glares down at her, angry and fuming, tightening his tie. Suffocation. The music plays comfortingly as Mismagius falls to the floor. A Tentacool lies motionless beside her. The seaweed coils together around an anchor, snapping off a new ship wheel from the now lifeless ship to replace it's own broken one...
The radio falls to static and it's light ebbs away.
-"He's never coming back. We're doomed. We will die out here on this boat with nothing but kelp to eat for the remainder of our days."
-"Stop being so dramatic, Mayor. Look, I can see something approaching now."
-"Truly? Say it isn't a joke, Nurse Joy! Has our rescue finally arrived? Oh you chatty Tentacool, I could kiss you! I..."
"Hey doc, got any potions?"
-"...Nurse Joy, I do believe our friend has returned with no help at all."
-"Take another look, Mr. Mayor."
-"Hm? Yes, I suppose this one is a bit scrawny to be our good friend. Is it some malnourished pokemon come to feast on our desiccated corpses?"
"That's disgusting! Here, take this back!" Jessie used Fling! Chatty kept going and crashed into Mayor!
-"BWAHUBUBA!"
-"Jessie, that's you isn't it? Oh dear, you and your friends look hurt. Here, come aboard and have a rest in the ship's holding tank. I'll treat you all as soon as we can get back to town!"
-"Lapra?" Roma, having a bit more experience with nasty green stuff keeping you from going anywhere, uses Freeze-Dry once more. As the seaweed crumbles away the boat's engine gives a lurch and begins to spin up.
-"Why, you've done it!" Mayor grabs hold of Chatty, still clinging half-lifeless to his face. -"You beautiful creature, you've saved our lives! Mwa!"
-"Tenta-Tentacool~" *blush*
"Alright alright, enough sappy stuff. Everyone going ashore, pile into the water van! Hey, are you two coming?"
Mismagius, currently being carried by Cyan, gives a thumbs up. -"Hey, I'll go anywhere as long as this pretty lady is there~ But mostly because I'm so tired I can barely float. Yes, I'd like to go to the doctors, please."
-"Prima..." She rolls her eyes and hops aboard. Right behind her is-
-"I say, I would quite like to get back to my home region, if it's not too much a bother. Ms. Cyan has told me of your plans to return to my fair homeland of Alola, and I fully intend to take advantage of your generosity to make my way abroad!" The now un-chimera'd Dhelmise speaks with an air of posh superiority.
"Oh by Ho-Oh's tailfeathers, it's like there's two of them... Sure, climb on. Here we go Roma, uppies!"
-"Lap lap!"
-"Tentatentacool."
-"Primaaa!"
-"I say, it's quite crowded in this tub."
-"Ditto, somebody make room!"
"Quit pushing, you don't even have physical mass!"
Finally, the eventful journey was over. With friends new and old in tow, the crew returns home. Sure in the knowledge that they have done something of great import, something that none could possibly overshadow. For they have-
-"WAIT WAIT WAIT! WHAT ABOUT THE AWARDS CEREMONY?!"
