[Myself (your humble narrator, Rollo the Druid), Reinward the Chosen One and Fangornio the
Barbarian are on a new adventure to retrieve a "Beacon" from the Chambers of Infernal
Malice (a better name for it being "The Chambers of Massive Bugs". We are currently back
in Sasserine taking a break from it all.]
DAY 637 (20th Uktar) (November) cont ...
So anyway, we had a good night out. I didn't do much drinking and we all played Dragon
Dice for a while. Fang lost a lot of money to Reinward, although I wonder if it will
actually change hands in the end.
DAY 638 (21st Uktar) (November)
We teleported back into the Chambers after a big breakfast at Lavinia's Manor.
More chambers, more giant scorpions and more treasure scattered around in the bones
and rubbish. It was all going very well while we stuck to the technique of taking
them out from distance with ranged weapons and magic.
But Fang was getting bored. She doesn't like bows or crossbows and she likes to stand
about even less. In the next room she simple charged in, axe overhead, but was nipped
up into a giant pincer.
I thought it might be an idea to try one of my jars of citrus oil and waved it about
while commanding the scorpion to drop Fang. Well, that didn't work at all and I ended
up seized in the scorpion's other pincer! It was very painful indeed.
Still, I have lots of tricks up my sleeve and one of them is turning an animal so I can
wriggle free. Reinward must have guessed my intentions as he called up from the doorway
'Don't go wee! Go large!'
'Ok,' I agreed and turned into a rhinoceros.
The scorpion dropped me in confusion and I charged it with my horn. You can imagine the
chaos after that. It all ended well in the end, more dead scorpions and more treasure.
Reinward and Fang started bickering. There was no doubt that Reinward had saved our bacon
just then, but Fang was sullen and snappy. Reinward doesn't react well when he is not
given the adulation he feels he deserves and they argued even as he went to check the
next door up at the top of the chamber.
His next catty comment were cut short though as a jet of acid came hurling at him
from an archway behind him. It first I thought it might be a trap, but the vast quantity
of it suggested something worse.
'Might be a black dragon, chaps!' I called out as Reinward jumped out of the blast area
and joined us at the bottom of the chamber.
