Chapter 5: Frightful Weather

Crown City Prison, the holding facility for the worst of the worst supervillains in all of Crown City. A security guard was passing out the prisoners' lunches. "Alright, you scum, here's your lunches." He called as he passed a lunch tray inside the next prison cell. The prisoner inside was a blonde Caucasian woman in her 20s with a snowflake tattooed on her forehead. As she picked up her lunch tray, she gave an icy smile. "It's time." She said as her eyes started glowing icy blue.

Just then, storm clouds began forming inside the prison. "What's happening?" One of the security guards asked. Just then, rain started to pour and lightning began striking everywhere, making the security guards start running. One of the lightning bolts struck the woman's cell door and unlocked it, letting her out. As she walked out of her cell, she made her way to the evidence room. She walked up to the compartment that was marked 'Weather Mistress' and took the contents from it. A storm-grey dress and a giant black staff with a little light blue crystal on the top. After gathering her belongings, she made her way out of the prison. "Just you wait, Nebula Rangers. You will feel the sweet storm of revenge of Weather Mistress." She said, cackling into the air as thunder flashed in the sky.

Meanwhile, at the Scrapyard, Jack was telling Team Bee about the crazy things that he, Raf, Miko and the Gonzalez Nonuplets went through as the Nebula Rangers. "And then Teresa used her vines and slammed Doc Mutant into the side of the armored car." He explained. "Amazing." Grimlock said in awe. "It really is, Grim." Mirage agreed. Before Jack could continue, Miko came running over. "Jack! Jack!" She cried as she stopped in front of him. "What's wrong, Miko?" Jack asked. "It was just on the news. Weather Mistress just escaped from prison." Miko panted. "Who is this Weather Mistress?" Strongarm asked. "She's one of the first supervillains we ever faced as the Nebula Rangers." Jack started to explain.

[Flashback]

"Her real name is Gertrude Winters. She was fascinated on weather control." Gertrude was in her lab, working on a device that would enable her to control weather. "She was on the verge of completing her weather controlling device when the meteor hit the bay." When the meteor crashed into the bay, the supernatural energy waves struck her and knocked her out. "When she woke up, she discovered that she was given power over weather." As Gertrude recovered, she felt something unusual coursing through her veins. She motioned her right hand and a storm cloud appeared and fired a lightning bolt at the wall. She stared at her hand with a mischievous smile.

"She became seriously power crazy, using her powers to cover the city in endless weathers. Rainstorms, snowstorms, even windstorms. In time, she started calling herself Weather Mistress." Gertrude, having donned the perfect outfit and weapon, and calling herself Weather Mistress, created mayhem throughout the entire city with every form of storm known to man, cackling like a madwoman.

[Flashback End]

"Every time we went up against her, she always came up with these crazy plans to take over the city with her powers." Jack finished. "Or just plain crime sprees. Like this one time, she broke into a bank, became sun-hot and melted the gold to put into oil barrels." Miko said. Just then, the TV brought up a news bulletin. "Massive weather storms are building up all over Crown City. Blizzards, thunderstorms and even tornados. Civilians have already been evacuated, but I believe that this city would be much safer with the help from the Nebula Rangers." The weather man reported. "Uh, he's not kidding. Look." Sideswipe said, pointing out to the city. There was a massive storm cloud over Crown City. "Weather Mistress." Jack guessed. "I'll get Raf and the Gonzalezes." Miko said before running off to get the others. "Jack, let us go with you so we can experience your work." Bumblebee said. "Uh, I don't know if that's a good idea. Our supervillain fights get out of control fast." Jack said. "Sir, with all due respect, regulations say that we should continue our current directive tracking down our escaped Decepticons and not deal with superpowered humans." Strongarm said, pulling up her protocols. "Strongarm, we understand what you're saying. But since Arcee and I are your superior officers, we say we're going with Jack and his team to help." Bumblebee said. "Besides, we'd be nuts not to see how much our old friends have grown since we last saw them." Arcee said. "Alright. I know that it's impossible to talk you guys out of coming along." Jack said as Miko returned with Raf and the Gonzalezes. "Nebula Rangers, let's get Cosmic!" He exclaimed. The team started to glow as their suits materialized around their bodies. "Whoa. That's impressive." Mirage said. "Alright. Now it's our turn. Let's Rev Up and Roll Out!" Bumblebee called. Team Bee transformed, loaded up their Nebula Ranger friends and drove off towards Crown City.

As they entered the city, they started looking for Weather Mistress. But the whole city was covered in rain, snow and even tornados. "Good thing the city was evacuated. Nothing could survive in all of this weather." Raf said. "Tell me about it. All this weather is really gonna mess up my paint job." Sideswipe said. "Steady, Sideswipe. I'll help buff out any scratches when we're through here." Strongarm said. Team Bee pulled over to let the Nebula Rangers out. "Alright, everybody, keep your eyes peeled. Weather Mistress is a sneaky one and likes to ambush." Jack said. "So, where do we start?" Gears asked. "Who knows? It'll be hard to track anyone in a bunch of storms like this." Arcee said. Suddenly, a blizzard struck the teams. "Hey! Where'd this blizzard come from?!" Sideswipe exclaimed. Just then, there was a cackle in the air. Everyone looked up and there she was. "Weather Mistress." Jack said, glaring at the mad weather maker. "Hello, Nebula Rangers. I've been longing to see you again after so long." Weather Mistress said with an evil smile.

Just then, Strongarm stepped forth. "Gertrude Winters, you are hereby under arrest for the crime of endangering the population of Crown City with your dangerous weather controlling powers." She said, reading Weather Mistress her rights. "Uh, who are these weird robots? Some kind of weird science mistake?" Weather Mistress asked insultingly. "Weird?! WEIRD?! I'LL SHOW YOU WEIRD!" Grimlock roared as he charged towards Weather Mistress. "No, Grimlock, don't!" Jack exclaimed. But as Grimlock prepared to throw a big punch, Weather Mistress fired a lightning bolt from her staff and shocked him hard. "Grimlock!" Bumblebee cried as Grimlock collapsed. "That's it. Nebula Rangers, let's take this witch down." Jack said. The Nebula Rangers prepared to fight. "No, Jack. You'll be committing an act of vigilance in this mess." Strongarm said. "Maybe, but that never stopped us before." Jack said.

The Nebula Rangers charged towards Weather Mistress as she started firing multiple lightning bolts at them. Brook leapt up, fired an electric attack and intercepted the lightning bolts. "I always hated your shocking interruptions." Weather Mistress said with disappointment. "Well, if you don't like that, you'll hate this." Brook said. Just then, Mariposa flew up from behind and fired mana beams from her eyes, striking Weather Mistress in the back. "Oh, that was a mistake." Weather Mistress said. She twirled her staff and created a tornado. Brook and Mariposa got caught in the vortex and were blown away. "Hey! No one does that to my friends and gets away with it!" Miko shouted as she ran towards Weather Mistress and prepares a chi punch. "Oh, chill out." Weather Mistress said. She fired a blizzard with her staff and froze Miko in a block of ice. Suddenly, her arms and legs were telekinetically spread out, and then vines shot out from the ground and wrapped around her. She turned her head to see Raf and Teresa using their powers to restrain her. "It's time to wrap you up and send you back to prison, Winters!" Teresa exclaimed. "Oh, I'm afraid you're all in for a shock." Weather Mistress said. She released lightning from her body, directed it down the vines and shocked Raf and Teresa, knocking them out. Just then, rocks and icicles started striking her. She turned around to see Dominick and Annika using their powers. "What a croc!" Annika exclaimed throwing another icicle while Dominick threw another rock with his powers. "Okay. You wanna play? Let's play." Weather Mistress said mockingly. She spun her staff and created a typhoon, blowing Dominick and Annika into a wall. "Next!" She called.

Nalu surfed his way towards Weather Mistress on a wave of water while Henry followed him with his gyrokinetic flight power. "Oh, I don't think so." Weather Mistress said. She created a blizzard from her staff, freezing the wave and sending Nalu flying. "I got you, bro!" Henry called as he flew over and caught his brother. But then Weather Mistress created an ice wall, causing them to smack into it. "That's it! It's time to turn up the heat!" Shawn exclaimed as he fired a beam of fire from his hands while Liana sang a powerful beam of music. "Oh, please." Weather Mistress scoffed. She unleashed a powerful blizzard from her body, intercepted the fire and music, and pushed them back, blowing Shawn and Liana away. "So, now it's just you and me." Jack said as his hands fueled with cosmic energy. Weather Mistress started firing lightning bolts from her staff. But Jack dodged the bolts and fired his cosmic blasts. But Weather Mistress dodged his blasts too. The Autobots watched as Jack and Weather Mistress continued throwing bolts and blasts at each other, neither side giving an inch. Suddenly, they each fired a powerful blast, intercepting each other. Jack appeared to be cringing at the immense power. Weather Mistress began to cackle. But then, Jack turned back to her with as his eyes glowed. Weather Mistress started groaning and struggling to hold on to her power. Suddenly, the power surge burst and blew them away from each other. Weather Mistress managed to recover, but Jack hit his head on the pavement and got knocked out. "JACK!" Arcee cried as she and the others ran over to her partner's unconscious body and checked on him. "How is he?" Sideswipe asked. "He's okay. Just unconscious from that bump on the head." Arcee said with relief.

Bumblebee glared at Weather Mistress. "That's it. Autobots, take her down!" He exclaimed. Sideswipe drew his sword and charged towards Weather Mistress. "Oh, please. You saw what I did to your dino friend, right?" Weather Mistress asked mockingly. As Sideswipe prepared to slash, Weather Mistress fired a lightning bolt, shocking him. "Sideswipe!" Strongarm cried as Sideswipe collapsed. "Oh, that's it!" She drew her blaster and started shooting. "Please." Weather Mistress said as she dodged the blasts and fired another lightning bolt. "Strongarm, look out!" Bumblebee exclaimed. But Strongarm got shocked and collapsed. "Nobody does that to my partner and gets away with it!" Gears exclaimed. "Gears, wait!" Arcee exclaimed. Gears started blasting at Weather Mistress, but she dodged each blast and fired another lightning bolt, shocking him. Bumblebee and Arcee watched as Gears collapsed next to Strongarm and Sideswipe. "So, what're you 2 going to do now?" Weather Mistress asked mockingly. "Same as we said. We're taking you down." Bumblebee said. "But first, we're making you pay for hurting our friends." Arcee said venomously. "Well then, let's see what you science rejects got." Weather Mistress dared. Bumblebee and Arcee got their weapons ready, but they still couldn't get them to activate. "Uh…" Bumblebee tried to say. "Okay. That's embarrassing." Weather Mistress said. She fired 2 lightning bolts and shocked the Autobot leaders and made them collapse.

"And then, there was only one." Weather Mistress said, turning her attention to the last Autobot standing. Mirage. "You think you can defeat me all by yourself?" Weather Mistress asked mockingly. "You just wait. You might be surprised." Mirage said, unveiling her wrist blades. "Very well then." Weather Mistress said, readying her staff. Mirage prepared for the coming attack. Weather Mistress fired another lightning bolt. But then, Mirage blocked the bolt with her blades and absorbed it. "What?!" Weather Mistress exclaimed in shock. "Surprised?" Mirage said with a smirk. Weather Mistress shouted with rage as she fired more lightning bolts. But Mirage blocked and absorbed each one with her blades. Weather Mistress couldn't believe what was happening. "How is this possible?!" She asked in shock. "It's my own secret power." Mirage said as she fired the lightning right back. Weather Mistress tried to take the attack, but it was too much for even her. The electric shock knocked her out and fell to the ground. "Well, I'll bet that was a shock." Mirage joked.

Later, after everyone recovered from the fight, the Nebula Rangers cuffed Weather Mistress in power dampening cuffs and handed her over to the police. She just kept silent as she was loaded in the police car, not even bothering to speak of Team Bee.

Later, as the team returned to the Scrapyard, after getting his head bandaged, Jack walked over to Mirage while the others were getting treated. "Mirage, I wanted to say thanks for your help. If it wasn't for you and your blades, Weather Mistress would never be back in prison." Jack said. "I'm always happy to help my friends. Especially you and your team, Jack." Mirage said. Just then, Russell rushed over to them with excitement. "I heard everything on the news! Please, you have to tell me what happened!" He exclaimed excitedly. Jack and Mirage looked at each other and chuckled. "Alright, Russell. Prepare to have your mind blown." Jack said. Russell sat down as Jack and Mirage began explaining the entire encounter with Weather Mistress to him.

Meanwhile, Weather Mistress was placed back in her prison cell. "This isn't over, Nebula Rangers. I'll have my revenge against all of you, and your robot friends." She swore, cackling with a vengeance.

Wow! Was that awesome for a first original chapter? Team Bee has their first encounter with one of the Nebula Rangers' many supervillains, Gertrude Winters aka Weather Mistress, a mad woman with the power to control weather. Though things went a little shaky at first, Mirage managed to use Weather Mistress' powers against her. But what other supervillains might be locked up, just waiting to bust free? Will the supervillains ever come into contact with the Decepticons or even MECH? Leave a review if you'd like.
