Chapter 4: I Don't Wanna Fight Dragons

Later, that night, Stoick was stoking the fire in the middle of the house. Their family pet sheep, Snowball, was sleeping next to him. Hiccup and Hicca snuck in through the door and proceeded to sneak up the stairs. "Hiccup. Hicca." Stoick said, sensing his twin children trying to sneak upstairs. "Dad." Hiccup said as he and Hicca stopped. Snowball woke up at the sound of Hiccup's voice and bleated happily as she frolicked over to her favorite owners. "Aw, good to see you too, Snowball." Hicca said as she and Hiccup petted Snowball's nuzzling head.

"We have to talk to you, Dad." Hiccup said, knowing that Stoick had to know. "I need to speak with you and Hicca too, son." Stoick said. Hiccup, Hicca and Stoick all took a deep breath and spoke at the same time. "We've decided we don't wanna fight Dragons/I think it's time you learned to fight Dragons." They spoke simultaneously, not hearing what they said. "What?" They asked. "Uh, you first." Stoick said. "Oh no, you go first." Hiccup said. "Yeah, you are our father." Hicca said as they climbed back down the stairs. "Alright." Stoick said, being a little hesitant. "You get your wish. Dragon training. You both start in the morning." He said, shocking Hiccup and Hicca. "Oh, man! We should've gone first." Hicca said. "Uh, yeah, because we were thinking, you know, we have a surplus of Dragon-fighting Vikings, but do we have enough…bread-making Vikings? Or small home repair Vikings?" Hiccup asked. "Or maybe net-making Vikings? Or bouquet-making Vikings?" Hicca asked.

"You'll need these." Stoick said, giving Hiccup an axe and Hicca a sword. "Daddy, we don't want to fight Dragons." Hicca said as she and Hiccup struggled with their weapons and tried to stay standing. "Come on. Yes, you do." Stoick said, laughing as he walked back to the fire. "Rephrase. Dad, we can't kill Dragons." Hiccup said. "But you will kill Dragons." Stoick said, loudly like an order. "No, we're both really very extra sure that we won't." Hiccup said. "It's time, my children." Stoick said. "Can you not hear us?" Hicca asked loudly. "This…is serious, you 2. When you both carry these weapons, you both carry all of us with you." Stoick explained as he took the twins' weapons and thrusted them onto their shoulders. "Which means you walk like us, you talk like us, you think like us. No more of…this." He said, pointing to everything on the twins' bodies. "You just gestured to all of us." Hiccup said. "Deal?" Stoick asked. "This conversation is feeling very one-sided." Hiccup said. "I'm starting to feel that too, bro." Hicca said. "Deal?" Stoick asked, louder and more demanding. The Haddock Twins sighed, knowing that there was no point arguing with their father at this point. "Deal." They muttered in defeat. "Good." Stoick said as he picked up a pack. "Train hard. I'll be back. Probably." He said, putting on his helmet as he walked out the door. "And we'll be here. Maybe." Hiccup said.

After Stoick left, the Haddock Twins let out angry sighs. "What're we gonna do, Hiccup? If Daddy comes back, he'll expect us to honor our deal." Hicca said with worry. "I know. Let's just take a few days and do what he says. I know we'll think of something." Hiccup said. "Yeah, you're right. As always." Hicca said. Snowball bleated in confusion. "Come on to bed, Snowball. We've got quite the story to tell you." Hiccup said as he, Hicca and Snowball went upstairs to their shared bedroom.

Wow. That took quite the twist, didn't it? As the Haddock Twins returned home, Stoick granted them their last wish, to let them start Dragon Training. But the Haddock Twins' efforts to convince Stoick that they can't kill Dragons fell on deaf ears. So, as Stoick prepares to set sail for Helheim's Gate, the Haddock Twins prepare for their first day of Dragon Training. But will they survive their first day?
