"Attention! Return to the dock and cut the engine immediately!" blared the helicopter, its voice cutting through the swirling winds and jagged rain.
The group, caught between confusion and dread, gazed up at the hovering silhouette against the stormy sky. All except for Kenji, who, with a burst of exuberance, dashed toward the controls, a wild grin stretching across his face. "Yes, yes, yes! We are saved!"
"Are we?" Darius countered, skepticism knitting his brow.
Peter's gaze shifted to the ominous shapes of other helicopters slicing through the turbulent air toward the island, unease tightening his chest. "Yeah, something is definitely off."
"Wait, Kenji!" Darius's urgent cry sliced through the tension. "I'm not exactly getting good guy vibes, Kenj."
"Yeah, unmarked chopper, big, scary guns…," Yaz chimed in, her voice laced with apprehension.
"Oh, I'm sorry, what would you bring to rescue kids from an island full of killer dinosaurs? Cake?" Kenji retorted a hint of mockery in his tone.
"He's got a point," Ben acknowledged, but the underlying fear still lingered.
Peter's brow furrowed as he questioned, "But why are they here? Especially in helicopters? It's restricted airspace. Even our crazy hunter friends knew to bring a boat."
"And why are they flying in this storm?" Brooklynn added, her voice steady yet filled with concern. "It's been weeks since we activated the beacon."
Thunder rumbled ominously overhead, reminding them of the tempest's fury returning.
"The sea is pretty rough," Sammy noted, a shiver crawling down her spine.
Peter sighed heavily. "So, either we turn back to the terrifying chopper and face the island of evil creatures, or we brave the raging sea."
"All right, then," Darius said, glancing back at the others, who seemed to lean more toward the options presented by the helicopter. "We take our chances with the people in the helicopter?"
With determined resolve, they turned the boat around, gradually steering it back toward the shore. As they approached, the helicopter descended smoothly, landing just ahead. They secured the boat just in time, and a man emerged from the chopper, leaving another to man the controls.
"November Echo 7-6-5, we found a bunch of kids. Please advise. Over," the pilot relayed into his radio, only receiving silence in return. "Repeat, we have children here. Please advise. Nothing!"
"What are you kids doing out here?" the man demanded, his brow furrowed in concern as he helped Laura, Ben, Sammy, and Kenji aboard.
"Long story! Too long," Sammy said breathlessly.
"Way too long!" Kenji rallied, bouncing into the helicopter.
"Wait, if you're not here to rescue us, then why are you here?" Ben's voice cracked, uncertainty clinging to his words.
Just then, Peter's instincts tingled, warning him of impending danger. Brooklynn was about to step into the helicopter when a deep thudding reverberated through the air. He instinctively shifted, his heart racing, as he scanned the jungle for signs of movement without giving his presence away.
Suddenly, the earth-shaking roar of a T-Rex shattered the night. Peter's eyes widened as he spotted the creature emerging from the dense foliage, drawn by the commotion and blinding lights of the helicopter. It let out another bone-rattling roar, causing the helicopter pilot to lift off abruptly, abandoning the rest.
"What are you doing?" Kenji shouted, panic rising in his voice.
The T-Rex advanced with terrifying grace, snapping its massive jaws and snagging the leg of the helicopter, causing it to tilt dangerously. In the chaos, Sammy was thrown from her perch, spiraling through the air.
Without a moment's hesitation, Laura lunged, catching Sammy just in time, while Kenji reached for her, creating the space Laura needed. Gripping her claws tightly, Laura swiped at the T-Rex's snout, drawing a furious growl from the creature, which loosened its grip.
Now in a desperate scramble, the helicopter started to veer away, the armed man racing toward the chopper as chaos unraveled around them.
"Wait! Stop!" The man's voice rang out through the storm, laced with urgency and fear.
But before the chopper could land or even get close to him, the T-Rex came down and chomped him down.
The pilot's piercing shriek echoed through the canopy as her helicopter veered away, disappearing deeper into the verdant heart of the jungle.
"She left us…" Peter muttered, disbelief painting his features. "You have got to be kidding me!" His voice trembled with frustration, and at that moment, the massive T-Rex shifted its attention back toward the stranded group, its enormous head swiveling with an ominous grace. "Thanks, Kenji. Trust those guys in the big, black, scary helicopters. What could possibly go wrong?!" Peter's words dripped with sarcasm as he began to morph the V252 around him, preparing to confront the towering menace. "Run!"
Brooklynn, Yaz, and Darius sprinted into the dense underbrush, heartbeats pounding in their ears, while Peter charged forward, reckless courage igniting within him. The T-Rex unleashed a monstrous roar that reverberated through the jungle, a primal sound that sent a shiver down their spines. In contrast, Peter released an animalistic screech, a battle cry echoing the ferocity of the situation as they barreled toward one another.
With a sudden leap, tendrils erupted from his back, swirling like dark shadows in the dim light. Thunder split the sky above, illuminating the scene in flashes of brilliance, revealing the terrifying silhouette of the dinosaur as it bore down on the small figure before it. But Peter's resolve remained unshaken; he wouldn't back down.
"How could you just leave them like that?!" Sammy asked the pilot.
"To keep us alive! You're welcome." She proclaimed.
"You aren't thanked!" Kenji stated.
"We should've stayed on the boat!" Ben cried.
"November Echo 7-6-5, there was an attack. I have three kids on board. Hansen's… gone. Heading to rendezvous point. Over. Hello, do you copy?"
As she was flying, the light from the helicopter was shining down on the jungle, passing over the pteranodons and another monstrous winged figure. The Vulture. They took flight and began to chase the light.
Back with the others, Peter wasn't able to hold the T-Rex off as well as he had hoped. Even while he was relentlessly fighting against it, it gave chase to the others through the jungle. Yas looked back as the T-Rex was catching up just when Peter leaped out of the darkness, shooting a large tendril that wrapped around the head of the T-Rex. It gave him a chance to yank himself towards the T-Rex, grabbing its head and shooting a tendril to yank it backward like a dog on a leash.
The T-Rex fell over and groaned. Peter fell onto the ground with ease and panted in anger. He eyed the creature and turned his tendril into a blade, just when the T-Rex let out a monstrous roar, causing Peter to screech in pain, the loud noises harming the V252.
Peter shot out a giant tendril into the T-Rex's mouth, pushing it further back from Peter on instinct. The suit was beginning to repair itself. That was when the tendril ended up hitting a tree, causing it to fall over and Peter raised a shield around him while the suit continued to heal.
But as the suit was healing, the T-Rex made its way over to where the others ran to hide. Darius was hiding against a tree, Brooklynn hid under some large rocks, and Yaz was left hiding under a log. Seems the T-Rex spotted her leg, causing her to lift the log and Yaz shrieked, running off.
She slid down a slope, landing on a log, and raced across it to the other end. Testing its durability, the T-Rex crossed the log and stomped, causing Yaz to slip and land on a branch. When the Rex reached for her, Yax slipped down and fell down a ditch.
The T-Rex stood over her, preparing to finish the job when a rock was thrown, getting her to look over and see Brooklynn and Darius.
"This was a horrible idea," Darius said.
"You're right," Brooklynn said as the T-Rex raced at them. "Horrible!"
When the T-Rex began to chase them, Peter came out of the trees, tackling right into the T-Rex and sending the two of them down a ditch and into the woods. The T-Rex roared as it got up, chomping at Peter. Peter rolled out of the way, getting up and punching the prehistoric reptile. The T-Rex then went to take a bite, but Peter did a flip, through the mouth of the T-Rex, giving him the chance to quickly kick it.
The T-Rex snarled as Peter snarled back, the suit morphing and turning into a more bumpy surface. "Come on, you prehistoric lizard." He snarled. "Lets-"
"Check over there! Secure the area!"
"Marine One, I need to close the gates. Confirm position. Marine One, do you copy?"
The random voices got their attention, getting Peter and the T-Rex to look off towards Main Street. The T-Rex rushed off to see what was happening in her territory while Peter sighed and looked around, trying to find the others. Brooklynn and Darius rushed over to him and were relieved to see him.
"Where's Yaz?" Peter asked them.
"Over here!" Yaz called as she raced over. "What is going on over there?"
"Let's go find out," Darius said, rushing ahead with everyone following.
Making it to Main Street, they were across near the Mosasorus arena and saw that the T-Rex was chasing someone towards a helicopter. They saw the man jump onto the ladder they dropped down to save him, and the T-Rex caught it right at the ledge.
"Cut it now! I said cut it!"
They watched the T-Rex shake the helicopter when suddenly the ladder cut. Allowing the man to cheer and the others to cheer, seeing that they managed to escape.
"He made it!"
"Woo!"
"Yes!"
"Lucky guy!"
That was until the mosasaurus came out of the water and ate him. It broke the ladder, falling back into the pond. The four of them looked in horror.
"That was... insane," Brooklynn said.
"What were they even doing?" Peter asked, looking over to see a control panel. "What were they here for?"
"No idea," Yaz said. "But whatever it was, they definitely aren't here to rescue us."
They heard helicopter hovers in the distance and looked up to see several helicopters moving inward.
"Is that the one the others are on?" Brooklynn asks.
"Only one way to find out," Peter said, everyone racing towards the helicopters.
Yaz let out a frustrated scream. "When are we gonna get off this island?"
"Blame Kenji!" Peter claimed in anger. "I said we shouldn't trust them!"
Making their way over to where the helicopters came to land, they saw dozens of men exiting with guns. They scoped out the area as Peter, Brooklynn, Yaz, and Darius hid behind a rock. They peeked their heads out and gasped when they recognized someone.
"You gotta be kidding me." Peter snarled.
Out of the helicopter came none other than Dr. Henry Wu. The creator of the Indominous. The Weapon X clones. The cause for all of this chaos.
"Dr. Wu." Yaz scoffed.
"Can't fly any further in this storm, Doc." The man told him.
"Do we have the Indominus sample or not?" Wu asks.
"Comms are down. Haven't heard back from the other teams."
"Well, then, Mr. Hawkes, we need to retrieve my research laptop," Wu stated.
"Where's that?" Hawkes asks.
"In my private lab," Wu explained. "We'll have to go on foot." He said, shaking the umbrella. "Too bad you didn't come prepared."
"We have different definitions of "prepared"." Hawkens said as he eyed his gun. "Let's move!
"What does Dr. Wu need an Indominus sample in his research for?" Yaz asks.
Peter cleared his throat, getting them to look at him, gesturing to himself.
"He wouldn't," Brooklynn said in fear.
"He would." Darius guessed. "Wu wants to make more hybrids."
"We have to stop him." Peter snarled. "We can't let him make any more like me, Laura, or the Vulture, Rhino and Scorpion."
"I know the laptop he's talking about," Brooklynn said. "We'll get to it first and destroy it."
They started to follow Brooklynn, except for Yaz who had another thought. "Or… we don't."
"What?" Brooklynn asks.
"Do you really want another Indominus or Scorpius rex running around in the world?" Darius asks.
"I hear you, but Wu is our ticket out of here," Yaz said. "If we get caught destroying his stuff, he might not take us home."
"But if we don't do anything, countless people could get hurt or worse." Brooklynn defended.
"People we love, Yaz," Peter said. "Right now, these creatures are contained on this island. But if they get loose. If they get made for someone else, they could be sold off, duplicated, it would be hell on earth."
Yaz sighed and saw his point. "Say we destroy the laptop. Then what? He'll still figure out a way to make more."
"So, we take it to Costa Rica with us, give it to the authorities, and expose Wu's plans." Brooklynn came up with a plan.
"Yeah! He'll be punished and never be able to do it again." Darius agreed.
"All right." Yaz agreed with the plan. "I just… I guess I just wish it wasn't always up to us."
"Well, we're the only idiots on this messed-up island who seem to care about keeping people safe." Brooklynn joked. "Whatever it takes?"
Peter nodded. "Whatever it takes."
"Then let's go steal ourselves a laptop," Darius said. "Easy enough."
"We just have to beat a bunch of armed adults who have a head start," Brooklynn said. "At least we have experience with that."
"And we have an advantage," Yaz stated, rushing ahead. "They don't know we're racing!"
Peter grinned as he prepared to rush off, racing Yaz himself. He never really got to feel the feel of the V252 as he ran off, quickly passing Yaz.
"Keep up, slow poke!" Peter yelled back.
"Hey. That's cheating!" Yaz cried as she laughed.
"November Echo, do you copy?" The helicopter pilot asks.
"Lady, no one is copying!" Kenji cried.
"Just turn around and get our friends!" Sammy cried. "Pretty, pretty please, please! I can keep going if it's working! Please! Pretty please, please?"
"I'm begging you. Stop," Laura told Sammy with a groan.
"Stop! We're not going back." The pilot said. "The idea is to avoid threats.
Ben looked out the window and gasped. "Then you might not wanna look out the window!"
The Pteranodons were beginning to screech as they closed in, attacking the helicopter.
"Turn off the lights!" Ben cried.
"Are you crazy?" She asked.
"Pteranodons are attracted to the light!" Kenji explained.
The Pteranodons continued to attack the helicopter.
"Trust me. I've got up-close experience with this sort of thing." Ben stated, remembering the monorail. "Real up-close."
She decided to finally listen and quickly turned off the lights. The pteradons stopped attacking and laid off.
"It worked!" She said in relief. "How long have you kids been out here?"
"Um, well, when did they evacuate Jurassic World?" Sammy wonders.
"Um, I guess about six months ago."
That shocked everyone to learn that they somehow managed to survive this long on the island for six months.
"Wow.
"That long?"
"Check us out!"
"Hey, sorry I doubted you." The pilot said, not looking ahead.
The thunderstrike then revealed the Vulture. Everyone gasped, pointing ahead as she looked ahead. The Vulture however worked too fast. It struck the window with its talons, digging into the window, and continued to fly. It was setting the helicopter off balance and sent it crashing into the trees.
Peter and Yaz were still basically racing each other at this point. Peter even purposely slowed down to let her catch up.
"Careful, you might trip up," Peter joked.
"Oh, I see how it is, big shot nerd gets a little speed and gets an ego," Yaz snarked back.
"Give a nerd some speed, he can take on the world," Peter quipped.
"Guys, not all of us are all-world track stars or bitten by a radioactive spider!" Brooklynn cried as they struggled to keep up.
Yaz and Peter came up to the base. "Hey, slowpokes… we've got a problem."
They walked up ahead and saw that there was more debris from the more recent storm.
"More debris fell down in the storm," Peter said with a sigh. Then he stretched his knuckles and cracked his neck, forming the V252 around him. "Let's get to work."
But right as he was about to use the tendrils to move the debris when he sensed something. "Not too much further."
"Hide!" Darius said, getting everyone to the bushes.
"There. You'll need to clear the entrance." Wu tells them.
"Not hearing a "we" in there, Doc," Jackson said. "You plan on helping?"
"Not per-say, Mr. Brice," Wu said.
"There's gotta be another way in," Yaz said.
"There are tunnels down there, but I only remember one door into the lab," Brooklynn told them.
"She's right. But there was a vent!" Yaz remembered.
"Big enough to climb through?" Darius asked.
"When haven't we come across a vent we can crawl through?" Peter asks.
"He's got a point," Brooklynn agreed and gasped. "Frozen flowers! They froze up here because they were covering the vents that connect to the tunnels!" She then started to look around. "Look everywhere. We can still get to the laptop before them."
"The boss man better be ready to fork up extra for this work," Brice said.
"Not helping, Montana," Hawkens told him.
"Well, I was told I was supposed to help keep big lizards off our tails, now I'm moving storm debris," Montana said.
"Wow, that dude sounds like a worse Sammy," Peter said as he found the vents. "Guys?"
Yaz, Brooklynn, and Darius sneaked into the vents, leaving Peter to leap into the vent and close it behind them.
Kenji was the first to wake up, looking around to see the helicopter crashed against a tree, tangled up in vines. He looked ahead, seeing that the Vulture was gone... and the pilot was gone. The scratch marks and blood surrounding the front of the chopper gave the guess that Vulture had taken her.
"Guys? Wake up!" Kenji tried to wake them up. "Sammy?"
Sammy groans as she wakes up and shrieks when she sees the ground. Ben was next to wake up as the helicopter shook waking Laura. They knew they needed to get out quickly. Kenji unbuckled and fell. He then waited for them to follow, causing the helicopter to shake.
They steadied themselves before Ben reached out and tried to grab a vine they could use, trying not to disturb the helicopter anymore. Laura reached out, using her claws to snatch a vine and drag it backward.
Ben sighed as she got the vine. "Now all we need to do is..."
"Don't say it." Kenji pleaded.
"Jump." Ben finished.
The helicopter began to shake again, causing them to freak out and finally jump for it. When they did, the helicopter came crashing down and exploded on impact with the ground.
"Yes! Oh, my..." Kenji said, looking down at the ground.
"Just don't look down," Laura said.
"Easy for you to say!" Kenji cried. "You can take the fall!"
"Oh, yeah," Laura remembered, letting go of the vine, and sliding against the tree with her claws to slow down her descent. She landed on the ground with ease and scoffed, dusting herself off. "I don't know why I didn't think of that to begin with."
"You wanted to help us?" Sammy guessed as she slid down the vine.
"You, maybe," Laura said with a chuckle. "I like you more than those two."
"Hey!" Kenji cried.
"Wow, after all we've been through," Ben said sarcastically.
Peter, Brooklynn, Yaz, and Darius made their way down the vents. Peter crawled his way around, literally moving from the walls and even on the ceiling as he crawled ahead.
"You know, I am getting used to crawling in vents. A useful skill when we get back home," Peter said with a groan. "We would be halfway there by now if it weren't for stupid Kenji and his dumb decision to trust the scary choppers."
"Montana," Hawkens called out. "Stay here and keep watch with the others."
"No worries about there, Partner," Montana said.
Wu then saw Hawkens open the door and saw the claw marks. "We might want a little extra protection inside."
"Reed, you're with us," Hawkens called out. "The doctor here is afraid of his own creations."
They made their way downward into the labs while the kids crawled out of the vents. Peter morphed the V252 around him as it gave him a thermal view of the area. He searched through the are and moved the papers, searching for anything hard and metal.
It didn't take long to find the laptop. "Got it. Let's go."
There was a clang coming from the hall, getting them to rush as they knew that something or someone was coming. They climbed into the vents and Peter used a tendril to close it up.
Wu, Hawkens and Reed entered the labs to search around for the laptop. That was when he looked over to the container that once housed the E750.
"Let me guess." Hawkens sighed. "Something's supposed to be in there?"
"The Scorpius rex," Wu confirmed. "If it's escaped, we need to accelerate our timetable." Then he saw Reed was about to touch the quills. "Don't touch that! The Scorpius rex has poisonous quills like its namesake, the scorpionfish."
"I'm guessing the boss would be very interested in something like this Scorpius," Hawkens said, mispronouncing the name.
"No, it turned out to be too unstable," Wu said, searching the labs. "However, I can perfect it, make an improved version. If I could just find my laptop! It should be here! I just… that laptop had years of my research on it. Without it, what would take months will take years! So, if you don't want Mills to have your head, help me look!"
"You sure this is where you left it?" Hawkens asks.
"Yes! I… I think so." Wu was starting to question himself. "Very well. We'll check the other labs."
They then left, giving them the chance to begin to crawl out of the vents. As they were moving, they ended up clanging, getting Hawkens to stop and look back.
"This Mills guy that Wu's working for wants him to make monsters," Darius whispered.
"We have to do whatever it takes to keep the laptop away from them," Brooklynn stated, clutching the laptop for Peter. "
Kenji and Ben then slid down the vine finally, allowing them all to sigh in relief. "I love it when we're alive!" Sammy cheered.
"But I'll feel even better once I know everyone else is alive, too," Kenji said. "Let's go back to the dock."
"If they got away from the T. rex, they'll probably head to the boat," Ben said.
"Don't say "if"." Laura scoffed. "There is no way one lousy Rex was going to stop them."
"She has a point," Sammy agreed.
"See?" Laura was happy to hear she agreed as they headed off.
Peter was the first to exit the vent, searching around and seeing the coast was clear. Peter nodded, gesturing for them to come out of the vents. Darius came first, followed by Yaz, and that was when Brooklynn was grabbed by the foot. She yanked the vent close as she looked down and saw Hawkens.
"Well, who do we have here?" Hawkens said, pulling her down.
"Yaz!" Brooklynn called, getting their attention.
Peter was preparing to use the V252 when he heard someone. "I hear something over there!"
That was when they opened fire, causing Peter to react by creating a shield, taking most of his energy to keep the bullets from penetrating the slimy tendril shield. "They're coming!"
"We've got it!" Yaz cried, trying to pry the vent open.
Brooklynn tried to pry the man off her foot, but he had a strong grip. She swayed her foot, trying to get him off. Peter saw they were having trouble and quickly sent tendrils to grab several trees, throwing them towards the men.
"Look out!"
"What is that thing!?"
Peter snarled as he quickly turned towards the vents. "Hang on, B, we're going to-" That was when something came flying through the air, landing at Peter's feet. "What is-"
The device then began to glow, beeping before finally exploding. Instead of an explosion or fire, it was a large shockwave sound. The soundwave sent Peter and the V252 screeching in pain and agony. He fell to his knees, the suit shooting off of the host as he tried to get his head under control after the soundwave.
Brooklynn looked down at the laptop and knew that it couldn't get back to Wu. She held it out through the vent and tried to give it to Darius. "Go!"
"What? No!" Darius promised.
"We're not leaving you!" Yaz claimed.
Brooklynn smiled as she pushed it through. "Whatever it takes."
Then Darius reluctantly took it as Brooklynn let go and fell back into the vents. Peter and Yaz looked over to Peter who was still screaming in pain from the grenade. They ran over to his side and grabbed him by the arms, dragging him off into the woods.
