A/N: I've been binging Criminal Minds lately, I've never watched it completely and I just started Season 10, which is why it starts on this episode. I love Jemily sooooo much! I also just love how much the cast supported this ship as well. Sooooo I wanted to create my own idea for their romance. I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think!

JJ stared at herself in the mirror of the Boulder City Police Department's bathroom. She wiped the last of her tears away, took a deep breath and tried to prepare herself to go back out there and do her job.

"3…2…1…" She whispered to herself before taking another deep breath and exiting the bathroom.

"Hey," the soft voice startled her. She was not expecting Spencer to be waiting for her on the bench outside of the bathroom. Spencer stood up, walking towards his friend.

"Oh. Okay. Hi. What's up?" JJ replied, trying to stay calm. She clapped her hands together and furrowed her brow slightly, hoping that the difference in body language might help throw Spencer off her trail.

"Uh, Garcia found a frostbite victim, admitted to the hospital 3 years ago, by the name of Tom Fallon. Completely off the grid, just like Sarah, but his mother, Mary, still lives in town," Spencer replied.

"Great. Let's go," JJ stated, avoiding eye contact and trying to move past Spencer quickly.

"Kate and Morgan already went when we couldn't find you. Which is why I've been waiting here for 24 minutes and 18 seconds, so that maybe we can finally talk about what's wrong," Spencer was quieter when he stated this. Almost as if he was nervous to talk to JJ. JJ's arms were crossed and she still was trying to avoid eye contact as much as possible.

"Nothing's wrong. I'm fine," JJ replied. Her words were soft and calm. She even gave Spencer a quick smile before trying to walk away again.

"You're not fine. You're obviously displaying symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which absolutely makes sense." Spencer said as he followed JJ down the hall. JJ tried to keep walking and block his words out. Her right hand clinged to her left bicep, slightly pulling at the sleeve. "We're coming up on a year since your abduction and torture, and anniversary dates have a power all their own. Not to mention the fact that seasonal weather changes bring back smells that you probably now can only associate with the initial event," Spencer kept talking, JJ was barely listening. She could see all of the Boulder City officers standing at their desks. She stopped walking. Spencer lightly grabbed JJ's bicep, which immediately made her flinch. He pulled back. "All that I'm saying is that what you're going through is entirely textbook." They were interrupted by an officer walking in between them. JJ's eyes were darting around the police station, looking for anyone that might have heard their conversation.

"In here," JJ said to Spencer, motioning to an open storage closet. It was taking everything in her to hold back her tears at this point although it didn't matter too much as her breathing intensified. She couldn't hide this from Spencer, at least not at this moment. Once inside the storage closet, JJ closed the door. "Stop it. Stop it. Stop doing that. Stop…" She froze, looked at her friend directly, her eyes had already filled with tears and her lips were quivering. "Being you."

"I can't help it," Spencer replied to her. At first his tone seemed as though he was hurt by the statement, but JJ knew he wasn't hurt. He was terrified.

"Yes, you can. You can. You think you know what's going on, but you don't," JJ used her hands to gesture her frustration and uneasiness to Spencer. Her eyes stared at the floor as she tried to control her breathing.

"Well, then explain it to me, JJ, because all I know is my friend is hurting, and when I see her in pain, I want to make it stop," Spencer's voice cracked. JJ bit her lip and let out a sigh of defeat.

"Alright. Alright. Give me a word." JJ stated, staring at him. Spencer tilted his head, his eyelids had become swollen and pink, as if he had been crying for hours.

"A word?" Spencer's voice cracked once more. His brown eyes widened with concern.

"A term. A label. Something that explains what I have, because it is bigger than PTSD, and right now that word is Tivon and Michael." JJ's tears had fallen down her cheek, but she continued to hold back as much as she could. She knew if she let herself cry, she wouldn't be able to make herself stop. She took another deep breath before speaking again. "Tivon Askari and Michael Hastings." She heard her voice crack and felt her body shiver when she mentioned their names. Her right hand was in a fist, lightly tapping the palm of her left hand to keep herself in control.

"The men who tortured you," Spencer stated almost in a whisper.

"No. No, they were more than that," JJ froze mid sentence. Was she really going to bring this up again? She hadn't told Spencer what had actually happened. She made sure that most of the details were classified so that no one would find out. "We all worked together in Afghanistan." The anger was shown on JJ's face. She couldn't hide it any longer. "I didn't…I didn't know they were…" JJ's voice broke down. Her tears were finally slipping out. Spencer cut her off to explain that he understood the situation from the file. JJ's eyes were watching Spencer, but she couldn't hear him. It was almost like a dream. The ones where you know you're dreaming, but you can't seem to get out of it.

"Listen, JJ, you cannot blame yourself for that," Spencer's words were in her head. She could hear him again. She let out a sigh that kind of felt as though she was laughing at the thought of feeling guilt free with the entire situation.

"What else was in the file?" JJ asked quietly, hoping that she really did have the worst parts of it marked as CLASSIFIED. Her hand was pulling at the sleeve of her bicep again.

"It said you were injured when you almost caught him. That was it," Spencer replied. The two stood there in silence for a few minutes. No movement. No talking. Just waiting. JJ inhaled slowly and wiped away the tears on her cheeks. She shook out her arms to help her shake off any of the lasting nerves before returning to her job.

"This stays between us, okay?" JJ asked Spencer firmly. Spencer slightly nods his head, yes. "Okay." JJ opens the door and walks out to join the rest of the team.

JJ sat at her desk in the bullpen, cleaning up some of the paperwork that was left before getting ready to head home. She put on her black peacoat, threw her purse over her shoulder and made her way towards the elevators. She held her cellphone in her hand and began to check all the notifications she missed since they arrived back in D.C.

3 missed calls from Spencer

1 text message from Will

4 text messages and 1 missed call from Emily

JJ let out an annoyed sigh at the mess of notifications. She locked her screen and pressed the button to signal the elevator. She stood back, waiting silently with her eyes closed.

Ding!

She opened her eyes and moved to the left elevator as the doors began to split apart. Her eyes stared at the floor as she went to make her way in, but she bumped into someone who had been on the elevator already.

"Oh gosh sorry! Didn't expect anyone to be coming out." JJ said as she traded spots with the person. Her eyes gazed up from the ground to meet the person she had bumped into. "Emily?"

"Hi," Emily said with a sigh and light smile on her lips. "Surprise?"
