A/N: I'm so bad at keeping up with the stories I write so I'm trying to make each chapter longer than the last because it's taking so long to get them out! Anyways I hope you like it! Let me know what you think!

The sun was peering through the curtains of Emily's hotel room. Emily sat bent forward on the armchair in the corner of the room. She was fully dressed in dark jeans and a light blue long-sleeved cotton shirt with the sleeves pushed up. Her feet rested flat on the ground while her arms rested on her thighs. Her hands clutched the cup of coffee she had run out to get earlier. She stared at her friend as she slept in the hotel bed. After JJ had calmed down, Emily suggested they get her home, but JJ didn't want to go home. She said it was too late and didn't want to disturb the boys or Will. So Emily brought her back to the hotel with her.

Emily barely slept. Her thoughts were racing around the crisis JJ had been going through. Her friend was hurting, and she is only just now finding out. The guilt began to take over her thoughts. She had left because of JJ, but she never wanted this. She thought the feelings would evaporate if she left, but they didn't. She flew across the globe to fight these feelings, but they stayed. JJ laid on her side, wrapped in the hotel comforter. She looked so peaceful. Emily wished she could feel that forever, but she knew the moment would fade. JJ would have to deal with her emotions sooner or later. Emily let out a slight chuckle at the hypocrisy of her thoughts.

Bzzt Bzzt!

One of their cellphones was receiving a notification. Emily quietly stood up from the armchair, set down her coffee on the desk in the corner, and walked over to the side of the bed she stayed on. Her phone was plugged into the charger on the nightstand but had not received any notifications.

Bzzt Bzzt!

The phone vibrated once more. Emily hated the thought of waking JJ after the night she had, but it might be work or Will. She walked back over to JJ's side of the bed and crouched down to be eye level with her. She stretched her hand to the top of the comforter where she thought her shoulder would be and gave her a soft tug.

"JJ…" Emily whispered. "JJ. It's time to get up."

JJ scrunched her eyebrows and slowly opened her eyes. She blinked a few times to try and wake herself up. Emily tilted her head and smiled at her sleepy friend. JJ's eyes widened when she finally focused on Emily. She immediately threw the covers off of her and jumped out of bed. Emily stood up as well.

"I… I have to go home. I was supposed to go home. I need to see Henry! Oh god!" JJ was pacing around the room to collect her belongings. Her breathing was short and staggered.

"JJ…breathe. It's okay. You're okay. I texted Will and let him know that you were too exhausted to drive home and decided to stay at the hotel with me since it was closer, okay?" Emily tried to reassure her without physically trying to comfort her.

"I don't know what I was thinking. I needed to go home," JJ placed both her hands on either side of her head and began to hyperventilate.

"JJ, I'm going to guide you to sit down on the bed okay?" Emily didn't want to rush anything for fear of upsetting JJ again. She lightly put her hand on JJ's lower back and right shoulder and helped her sit down on the end of the bed. "Okay. Good. Now I need you to look at me okay? Look at me and follow my breathing. That's all you have to do okay?" Emily had moved her hand from her right shoulder to lightly guide her face towards her own. JJ slightly nodded and Emily kept her focus on JJ's eyes while slowly inhaling and exhaling. For the first few breaths, JJ struggled, but eventually, her breathing slowed down. "Good. Good. You're doing good JJ." Emily gave her a small smile.

"Thank you…" JJ whispered as she broke eye contact.

"You don't ever have to thank me. I'm always here for you. You know that JJ. Always." Emily replied moving her hand to squeeze JJ's. "You don't have to talk about it, but I'm here if you want to."

"I don't even know where to begin," JJ looked to the ceiling as if she was searching for answers.

"You can start wherever you want to."

Bzzt Bzzt!

JJ's phone vibrated again. She stood up and walked over to the nightstand to grab her phone.

5 text messages from Will

JJ let out a huge sigh before unlocking her phone to read her texts.

9:36 pm

Hey, do you know what time you'll be getting back to DC?

10:36 pm

Have you made it back to DC yet? Let me know if you're okay, please.

12:52 am

JJ, where are you?

8:13 am

Morning. Emily texted me last night and let me know you were safe. She said she let you stay at the hotel with her because it was so late. I called Diana to come to watch Henry when I go to work.

9:03 am

Let me know when you'll be home. I think we should talk more.

JJ locked her phone once more and set it back down on the nightstand. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to stay calm. She crossed her arms, but immediately winced at the pain on her left bicep, causing her to open her eyes again. She turned her head towards Emily who was staring at her with a concerned look from the end of the bed. She hadn't even noticed she was wearing navy blue sweatpants and a gray t-shirt that was not hers. She didn't drink enough to black out, but she must have had an emotional blackout because she couldn't remember all the details from last night.

"Is everything okay?" Emily asked, breaking the silence. JJ's reaction out of habit was to usually say everything's fine and smile, but something was different this time. It's almost as if her brain knew to not let her say that. She noticed how concerned Emily was, even when she tries to hide that. She also thought about how she took care of her last night. Maybe she should tell Emily? No. She couldn't. Maybe some of it? JJ couldn't contain all the thoughts in her head, that were fighting with each other.

"No," She replied without thinking. Emily seem surprised at the honest response, but so was JJ. She didn't expect to say that, but she did. Now she would have to at least talk about some of the things going on. She couldn't lie. Emily's too good of a profiler for her to even try. Emily didn't speak but used her body language to show JJ her support. "There's been a lot going on. Sometimes I don't know who to talk to or how to handle it all," She tried to respond as vaguely as possible so that she could figure out what she was going to tell Emily. Was she going to tell her? Emily cares. She wants to help. "Will and I are separated. We've been separated for a few months now." JJ sighed. It was true, but this was not the majority of her stress. She wasn't ready to talk about the rest. Not with Emily.

"JJ. I'm so sorry. I had no idea. Have you told anyone else?" Emily stood up from the bed and made her way to JJ. Her arms stretched out to offer a hand to hold. JJ instantly grabbed Emily's and gave her a small squeeze with a soft grin on her face.

"I haven't told anyone. You're the first," She sighed, hanging her head to look at their hands together. "We had been struggling for a while, but it was a mutual decision. We still care about each other you know? Just not in the way we used to. I'm not sure if that makes sense. But yea. We're still living together to raise Henry. It's been an adjustment, to say the least."

"Well I'm glad you felt comfortable telling me and I'm glad you two were able to come to that decision together. Like I've been saying for about 12 hours now, I'm here for you. Always." Emily squeezed JJ's hands again, causing her to raise her head and look at Emily. JJ pulled Emily into a hug and rested her head on Emily's shoulder.

"Thank you," JJ whispered into Emily's shoulder.
