Catherine looked around the Tilney's beach house in amazement. She hadn't realized that people on this part of the coast actually had houses right along the beach, and here she was, invited to spend the weekend.

She walked along the wooden walk over the dunes, catching a glimpse of the ocean through the gate.

"I hope you'll find this adequate," the father said.

"It's very nice," Catherine replied, at a loss for a better description. "I don't think I've ever been somewhere like this before."

"You're very kind. We've done what we could with the place, of course."

Catherine nodded.
