Chapter 9: Trouble in Paradise

Agent BM: Yes it is.

2013

Two years passed, and Honey's empire continue to grow and grow. She opened more stores all along the east coast, she invested more money into stocks and got richer, and she even became CEO of her own company.

The Shaws were now popular figures in high society. They had a couple fancy houses, went to vacations outside the country, shopped in the nicest and most expensive stores, had meals in 5 star restaurants, and they even in pictures in magazines.

While it was a great life, there were some down sides to being so rich. There were times where the family got hate from haters and jealous peers, some magazines wrote rumors, and the work could be very demanding.

Honey woke up to the sound of the alarm clock going off. She reached over, turned it off, and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she woke up to a cool sunny morning, just another day in New York.

"Good morning, Zeke."

She gently shook him awake. Zeke woke up, and smiled at her.

"Morning, babe."

They got out of bed, and while Zeke went to get cleaned up, Honey put on her glasses and looked out the window of her home, which was the penthouse of a 50 story building. It was an amazing view of the city.

When Zeke was finished in the bathroom, Honey went in. After a quick shower she went to get dressed for work, a yellow buttoned up shirt, a suit jacket, black pants for the cold weather, and several strands of pearls.

As she dug in her jewelry box for her watch and some earrings, she pulled out her heart necklace from when she got proposed to. She loved wearing it, but sadly she had to put it back, it didn't look professional with her suit, same as her favorite gold hoop earrings.

Honey put on a pair of diamond stud earrings and a watch with a brown leather strap, along with a few expensive looking bracelets. Her bees tied her hair into a bun she hated, but made her look professional.

Finally she put on a pair of black heeled boots. After picking a purse from a shelf full of them in her closet, she went to have a quick breakfast with her family. In the kitchen, their cook was preparing their breakfast.

And some maids were tidying up the house.

"Morning, Mom." Sophie greeted, as she hugged her mom.

"Good morning, Sophie sweetie." Honey said, as she returned the hug.

The two of them went to the table together, where Zeke was putting Zack in his high chair.

"Mama." Zack squeaked.

"Morning, Zacky."

Honey gave her son a kiss on the head. Then they all sat down and had their breakfast. It was Saturday so there was no school for Sophie, and she got to at least have a little quality time with Zack.

"Do you really have to work today Mom?" Sophie asked.

"It's only til 1, I have some important things I need to do regarding some stores of mine." Honey explained.

"Okay." Sophie sighed.

"Don't worry, Sophie." Zeke comforted.

"We'll go to the Central Park Zoo."

"Okay, Dad."

Honey secretly wished she didn't have to work, as she would've loved to go to the zoo with her family.

After eating, she got her bees from their charger, kissed her family goodbye and grabbed a yellow trench coat from the wall, putting it on over head clothes to keep her warm. She decided to walk to work, she didn't live far from her office and could use the exercise.

After ten minutes of walking, she went to the 20th floor of a skyscraper where her company had offices, and went to her office. Her assistant gave her coffee as she settled into her desk. She turned on her computer and began to get to work.

This was the life of a CEO, her life. She had everything she ever wanted, but sometimes she wondered, was she happy? All these thoughts raced through her head as she typed on her computer, and she started feeling a headache coming.

She'd been having a lot of headaches lately and a couple other minor health problems like chest pains, but she was taking medications from the store to help her cope. So she popped an aspirin in her mouth, and continued on.

During her lunch break, Honey was at a nice little bistro and had ordered a salad. As she ate, she glanced out the window and saw another family. This time it was a little girl with her parents. It reminded her of when she was little girl.

When she was finished, she went back to her office. She continued to do her work. She signed papers, answered phone calls, held meetings, and made sure things ran smoothly. Finally 1:00 came around, and it was time for her to go home.

Honey put her purse on and stood up, but she started feeling chest pains and was a little woozy.

"Honey are you okay?" Bumble asked.

"I'm fine." said Honey.

But Honey didn't feel fine as she stumbled in her next steps.

She clutched her forehead and collapsed onto the ground, blacking out.

The next thing she knew she was waking up to see the outline of her family standing over her.

"Oh, Honey you're awake." said Zeke.

"Zeke, where are my glasses?" Honey asked.

"Here they are, Mom." Sophie told her.

She handed the glasses to her mother. Honey took them, and out them on her face.

"Ugh, where am I? What happened?"

"You're in the hospital Mom, you fell down in your office." Sophie explained.

"I don't remember anything. I do remember some pain though."

"Sophie, why don't you take your brother outside and wait, I need a word with your mom in private." Zeke instructed.

Zeke placed Zack in his stroller and Sophie wheeled him outside the room.

"Honey, the doctor said quite a bit about your condition. But long story short, you're exhausted and over stressed." explained Zeke.

"Of course I'm stressed, I own more than a thousand stores across the east coast." Honey replied.

"Honey this is serious. You're working yourself to death worrying about every little thing you do. You work almost everyday, you're constantly worrying about employees and profits, your charity work and what not."

"Well I'm the CEO, I have to do all that stuff."

"But Honey, the point is the stress is causing a negative effect on your body. And you could get sick."

Honey couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Oh my gosh. I never realized..."

"You just need to relax. Take a nice two week minimum vacation. Heck make it a month if need be. Let's go out somewhere, maybe a warm sunny beach, or go camping. Could head to Europe or Asia, or put our annual passes to the parks in Florida to good use..."

"I'm not going anywhere Zeke. If I'm gonna relax I'm gonna do it here, at home, and not worry about the stresses of traveling. Got everything I need in our penthouse." Honey told her husband.

"So you want a staycation?" Zeke wanted to know.

"Why not? I'll be surrounded by my stuff, sleep and watch TV in my bed. Maybe I'll go walk Central Park or visit some of the local sites. Maybe have a spa day."

"Okay. But remember Honey, you need to relax, so no work, don't go visiting your stores or the office, don't even think about the stores in the other states. For the next month you're not a CEO, you're just plain old Honey." said Zeke.

"Right. I need to do this for my health."

"Now you just rest and I'll get you discharged. Oh, and the doctor prescribed you some medicine. I'll pick it up later." Honey smiled gratefully.

"I love you, Zeke."

"And I love you too, Honey."

After Honey was discharged, Honey got started her staycation. She had called her company and told them she'd be taking some personal time off. She put away her business clothes, and instead wore a black t-shirt, yellow yoga pants, fuzzy pink slippers and had her hair down.

This was going to be a nice and relaxing staycation.
