Chapter 5: Kuro of a Thousand Plans and "The King of Liars" (Part 2)

Among the peaceful fields, Zoro, Nami, and the vegetarian kids were a bit worried about Usopp and Luffy since they had been gone for a while, but then they saw Usopp running towards them with a serious look, then passed them by, without answering none of your questions. Zoro and Nami thought that Usopp was still their father being insulted, but the children recognized that look as desperate, so they plan to go to shore.

In his small town, Usopp was exhausted, but he could still shout the terrible news.

"No one's going to believe you, boy. This is what happens when you lie nonstop, even for good reason." Demeter said gravely.

"Ah, it's going to be a 'boy who cried wolf situation." Hades slowly shook his head in pity, agreeing with his sister.

At first, Usopp seemed happy when the villagers left their homes, but he soon recognized that the villagers would not believe him no matter how many times he told the truth, and he realized that Klahadore let him go for this reason.

"What do you expect from lying every day?" Ares yelled at him.

"Boss, that's where we all come," Junior says with a drop of sweat.

At Kaya's mansion, a sheep-like butler showed Kaya the gift he plans to give 'Klahadore; 'glasses custom-made from the neighboring town. Tomorrow would be the exact day three years ago when 'Klahadore' arrived at the mansion.

"Damn." Annabeth cursed under her breath, clenching her fist as she and the others knew this would not go well for her.

Usopp tried to reason with the villagers, but they were fed up with his lies and Usopp's only option was to run away from them. On the cliff near the rocky shore, the vegetarian kids showed Nami and Zoro around, worried that they couldn't find Luffy. Nami looked down, noticing Luffy. Now on the ground level with Luffy, Nami and the Usopp Pirates were worried about him, but Zoro noticed Luffy's snoring and hit him with his sword. When Luffy woke up, the others got scared.

"Huh, I thought Nami would be used to it by now." Apollo joked lightly.

However, Artemis was relieved to know that the boy in the straw hat was fine. Aphrodite saw this and thought to herself that she would have to tease her later.

Outside the mansion, Usopp traveled to Kaya's room, and hearing the sound of pebbles against her window, Kaya opened it, grateful to have returned, but noticed the expression on his face. Usopp stepped on her windowsill, telling her that he had to run, much to Kaya's confusion. Even when she told him that Klahadore is a pirate, she Kaya believed this to be a joke, no matter how many times Usopp told her otherwise.

"I thought you were his friend!" Tyson cried out through tears.

"Little one, who would you trust more? Someone who has looked after you for three years? Or someone you've known for a year who is known for telling lies?" Zeus asked, getting a point.

Tyson was silent, but Thalia added quite dejectedly, "But ... Usopp looks serious this time ... Shit ..."

After the sight catches, on the rocky shores, Luffy told the others about Kuro and his plan, which made the children understand why Usopp looked so serious as it was to tell the villagers to run away. and they decided to flee to collect their precious processions before leaving the island. Then Luffy thought that they should stock up on food before the guy from the 'meat shop' escaped as well, prompting Zoro to hit him with his sheathed sword.

"Thank you, Zoro." Percy sighed, a bit stressed by Usopp's situation.

A storybook-like memory of Usopp and Kaya contrasts with the current situation. Kaya told him that she loved her lies, but she was confused about it when Usopp tried to promise that this was not a way to get revenge on Klahadore. The sheep-like butler walked in, asking if he was wrong while he was holding a gun. Desperate, Usopp tried to escape with Kaya, jumping out the window as the other butler ran through the main entrance. The guards arrived, but using his sling, Usopp shot them down, much to Kaya's dismay. He tried to get her out of here, but Kaya stood her ground and slapped him.

The audience fell silent, shocked by his action.

Kaya looked away, crying. "You are pathetic."

Usopp walked away, feeling betrayed. Leaves are falling from his tree and Usopp only ran when the butler arrived. Aphrodite was miserable. As a goddess of love, she couldn't bear to see two kindred souls fight like this.

The sheep-like butler tried to shoot, but Kaya got in his way to protect Usopp. The butler walked away in shock, but pulled the trigger and shot Usopp.

"Usopp!" The demigods looked on in concern as Clarisse and Ares stared wide-eyed.

The long-nosed boy limped. The brooms came into view as the butler led the villagers, telling them what had happened. Usopp ran and ran as Kaya passed out in the arms of his butler.

"Everything's going wrong!" Groover panicked and ruffled his hair. "How could it be worse?"

"Do not say that, moron!" Thalia and Annabeth yelled at him as they hit him on the head.

Near the rocky shores, was Captain Kuro's ship, as Kuro himself thanked his men for coming after three years, telling them that after all this ordeal is over, there will be plenty of treasure for them. He was delighted to tell them to destroy the village as much as their hearts were happy as the cat pirates cheered.

"Insolent!" Poseidon cursed.

The warm colors of the setting sun cast over the island as Usopp held his shooting arm, memories of the past can be heard. He doesn't seem to know what to say, what to think, letting today's events play out in his head. He looked back at his old town, letting tears run down his face. Then he noticed that his 'pirates' were calling him.

Usopp wiped away his tears, tugging at his bracelet to cover his wound. He turned to them, faking a big smile on his face, but was surprised to see that Luffy was still alive. The kids told him they knew everything and planned to tell everyone about the pirates, but today's events popped into Usopp's head. Usopp laughed, dismissing the whole thing as a lie since Klahadore pissed him off. The children laughed too and walked away. Usopp asked why they were leaving, and the children claimed that they think less of him now, as he 'lied' to hurt someone, even if it was Klahadore.

"No! You don't too!" Tyson screamed at this betrayal.

"It's for the best, young cyclops. Usopp doesn't want them involved with Kuro and his pirates anyway. It's a painful strategy for him, but an effective one." Athena said as a kind of attempt to comfort him.

"That doesn't make it any better!"

At night, by the shore, Usopp groaned as Nami cleaned hers, finishing it off with bandages. Luffy asked Usopp why he lied to these told him that he was a liar and that they would never believe him anyway, but the others knew that what he was saying was the truth. It still doesn't change the fact that the villagers would believe that tomorrow will just be another peaceful day.

"That is why I have to fight the pirates on the cliff! I will make that lie again! As a liar, it is my duty. That is the path I must take!" Usopp said determinedly as he fell to his knees, crying "No ... Without knowing why ... Everyone is going to be killed!"

The gods and demigods admired his words; Even knowing that he has no chance, he would fight to protect what matters most to him.

"What a softness." Zoro said, showing his katanas.

"Okay, we will help you." Luffy cracked his fists and rolled up his sleeves.

"I'm telling you right now: the treasure is all mine." Nami said, showing her staff.

"But ... G-Guys ..."

Usopp's eyes filled with tears as the gods and demigods continued to stare, with renewed interest.

"Well, he may be a liar, but his courage makes him more than make up for it," Hera spoke with a half-smile.

"When she wants, that storyteller has a lot of style!" Junior smiled with great pride

"I don't care, I want to see Luffy beat up that butler!" Clarisse spoke up, hitting her fist with the flat of her hand.

"We are two now."

Percy stood beside Clarisse strangely excited.

A little later, the foursome were on the beach, looking up the hill that led into the forest. Usopp speculated that the Black Cat Pirates would attack from this very location, but they had to climb the pass to reach the village, while all other locations had steep cliffs. They estimated that as long as they defended that road, then the village would be safe without even knowing about the pirates.

"Well, it's not a bad strategy. A very sloppy one, but it works." Athena said.

"Sounds like a three-year-old mortal's strategy to me." Ares smiled.

"Well ... he tries. He's adorable," Aphrodite giggled.

"Heh!" Luffy smirked. "This will be a piece of cake!"

'... Ah, damn it. He had to say it, right? ' thought Hera, annoyed.

"That Luffy doesn't think about things much," Poseidon muttered.

"Don't take this lightly!" Usopp said. "We could practically be fighting an army tomorrow morning! We're going to need a lot of skill to defeat these guys! So what are you guys doing?"

"I cut," said Past Zoro.

"I stretch!" Luffy exclaimed, raising his fist from him.

"I steal," Past Nami boasted.

'To be the most powerful beings in the universe.' thought the gods in unison.

"I'm hiding," Usopp yelled past before Luffy grabbed him tightly.

"WELL, THIS TIME, YOU'RE GOING TO FIGHT!" they, the gods and demigods screamed.

"I'm just being funny! Come on, calm down!"

"You better be, Long Nose." The daughter of the god of war was beginning to grow impatient with Usopp's cowardly demeanor.

"You and me, sister." Thalia whispered.

"Wow ..." Hermes muttered.

"Yeah yeah I know, he wasn't the best person back then," Junior muttered. "But wait until tomorrow. You will see the strength of him."

"So, uh ... now that we have a plan," Luffy began, "can we maybe, I don't know ... have a snack?"

Zoro, Nami, Usopp and the Olympians all looked at him in disbelief.

"That?!" Luffy asked as he rubbed his stomach. "I can't fight well when I'm hungry, and I haven't eaten in hours!"

"... Oh boy ..." Themis muttered.

"But there's no denying something: this is pretty funny." Percy spoke in an attempt to improve the mood.

To be continued...
