We flash back again and Jane is anxious because she has to tell Maura that she loves her.

Late on a Friday afternoon, Jane Rizzoli was sitting on the couch in her apartment, her heart pounding, the room was silent and Jane was anxious. Four days had passed since she had confided in her mother about her love for Maura Isles, her long-time friend. Angela had been very happy that her daughter had finally told her that she was in love with Maura and had told her to dare and that neither she nor Frankie and Tommy would be an obstacle to their love. Jane had promised her that she would and the day had come but Jane's mind was in the grip of a tumult of emotions. She remembered the laughter shared, the secrets exchanged, and the moments of complicity with Maura that, in retrospect, took on a different, more intense hue. But deep down, a dull anxiety was eating away at her: what if Maura didn't feel the same way? What if confessing it would ruin their precious friendship? Jane didn't want to lose Maura and that's what might happen if Maura wasn't in love with her. Jane stood up, went to the window and observed the outside world, the people passing by, indifferent to her torment. She wondered if Maura also felt this romantic tension. If, on her side, she also had thoughts swirling in her mind, while knowing that their friendship was a precious balance that she didn't want to break. Jane thought back to what her mother had told her:

"Dare! Don't get stuck, don't miss out on true love! Dare!" and then to what Angela had told her afterwards:

"You're like your grandmother and me, you know you love the right person so I told you dare, go for it, love and love again! I'm sure this time it will be the right one! Maura can't reject you, it's impossible. You're already an unofficial couple. It's up to you to make it official."

Jane told herself that she could no longer hide her love for Maura and she knew that Maura was an understanding woman so Jane took her jacket and went to Maura's, it was the day of their movie-pizza night and during the trip, Jane thought about what she was going to say to declare her love to Maura. What she didn't know was that Maura loved her.

Two days before at the Isles' home

Maura Isles stood in front of the door of her adoptive parents' house, Arthur and Constance Isles. Tonight, she had decided to reveal something important to them. She knew that her biological mother, Doctor Hope Martin, would also be there. Maura was happy that her adoptive parents and biological mother got along well, but this dinner had a special meaning for her.

Arthur, seeing his daughter, said kindly

"Good evening Maura, come on! We were expecting you, Hope is already here."

Constance said:

"Good evening, Maura, you look lovely tonight. Come on, dinner will be ready soon."

Hope said

"Good evening Maura, it's always a pleasure to see you. Cailin sent word that she is well and that she regrets not being able to be there because of her studies. How are you?"

Maura said:

"Good evening mother, good evening father, good evening Hope. I'm fine, but I have something important to tell you tonight.

Arthur surprised said:

"What is it, Maura? You seem nervous, I would even say that you are very nervous"

Maura said:

"I am nervous because... because I am in love with someone. This person is very... special to me, we have known each other for years but recently, I discovered that I am in love with this person"

Hope said

"Oh how wonderful! This is wonderful news"

Constance said

"Oh, Maura, this is wonderful! Who is the lucky one?"

Maura looked at everyone there and said:

"She's…a lucky one.

Arthur Isles said surprised:

"It is a woman?"

Maura answered:

"Yes it is a woman. And this woman is Jane Rizzoli."

A silence settled in the room. Maura looked at her parents and Hope, looking for signs of reaction. Arthur was the first to speak:

"Maura, we all love you and we want you to be happy. If Jane makes you happy, then we are very happy for you and me first. I have met Jane a few times and she is a good woman"

Constance said:

"Maura, you have always made good decisions even if some have surprised us. We support you of course and indeed, Jane is a good woman and who will be able to take care of you

Hope in turn said:

"Maura, I know from personal experience that you can fall in love with a person who is different from you and love them passionately. If Jane is the one you love, then I am happy for you."

Maura saw with pleasure that everyone was smiling then Arthur said

"And how did Jane react?"

Maura lowered her head and said:

"I haven't told her yet. I wanted to talk to you about it first."

Hope asked:

"Angela knows?" No, Angela doesn't know and neither do Jane's brothers. I want to tell Jane first

Maura, you have our support and Cailin will support you too, she loves you very much, you know that."

Arthur said

"Maura, don't hesitate to tell Jane. Talk to her from the heart, and everything will be fine.

But what if she doesn't love me that way? What if she gets upset? What if she doesn't want to see me anymore?"

Constance said

"Maybe she's not in love with you but I'm sure she won't get upset. It's impossible because she cares about you a lot. Jane would be upset if another woman asked her that question but with you, there is no way she would do that

Maura, there is no way Jane would not want to see you anymore, because as Constance said, she cares a lot about you and I always thought, seeing how she acts with you, that she loved you"

Maura felt a wave of relief invade her. She knew it would not be easy, but with the support of her three parents, she felt ready to face the future with Jane.

Maura's House

Jane arrived and the first thing she saw was Maura. Maura who was as usual impeccably dressed and whose sight made her heart beat. Jane entered and Maura said to her:

"Come in and make yourself comfortable, I ordered the pizzas, they should arrive soon"

Jane entered, locked the door and went to Maura who was preparing the wine for their future meal. Maura who knew her friend well, handed her a bottle of beer and Jane thanked her. When Jane took the bottle, her hand touched Maura's and she felt Maura shiver and she thought "Maybe she feels the same way as me? " but she didn't dare ask the question then she went to sit on the couch and looked at Maura again and found her beautiful and this vision made her heart beat but at the same time, made her doubts come back because she wondered how to tell Maura what she really felt and wondered how Maura would react. Then Jane knowing that Maura had had dinner with her parents and Hope the day before, asked her how it had gone and Maura said after sitting next to Jane:

"Very well, I told them about one of my projects and they said they supported me. You know, I'm glad that my parents and Hope ended up getting along and especially liking each other

And I'm also very happy that this is the case and that you spend time with them.

Thank you Jane but you know, I prefer to be with your family, with you and especially with you, I feel better, I feel more comfortable, it's like I'm a Rizzoli"

Jane hugged Maura and said

"You're a Rizzoli and you know it!"

As they hugged, the two women felt a kind of warmth spread between them then Jane asked

"You talked about a project but which one?"

Maura said while playing with one of her rings

"Well Jane... it's..."

At the same time, the pizzas arrived and Maura went to get them and pay the delivery man then Maura brought the pizzas and Jane let her choose the movie which surprised Maura a little but since it had already happened, Maura didn't find it strange then they started watching the first movie. Jane couldn't help but glance at Maura, looking for the right moment to speak and she focused on the movie and the pizza to try to calm her nerves but the vision of Maura against her, eating a pizza didn't help her then Maura said

"Jane? Are you okay? I feel your breathing faster, you don't talk much and you keep looking at me"

Jane thought she had to get started, this was the moment and said in a voice full of doubt

"Maura, I... I have to tell you something"

Maura paused the movie and turned to Jane, looking worried and said

"What's wrong, Jane? You're worrying me!"

Jane got up and stood in front of Maura and said

"I... I don't know how to tell you this.

Is Angela or one of your brothers sick? Or is it TJ?

No, it's not them, it's me!"

Jane saw that Maura was getting more and more worried and she said

"You... you're sick? Jane? Why..."

Jane took a deep breath and said

"Yes, I'm sick... sick with love for you! I can't hide it anymore! I love you, Maura... I'm in love with you."

Maura was silent for a moment, her eyes widening in surprise and then said

"You scared the hell out of me, Jane!"

Then a soft smile appeared on her face and Maura said

"If you have this disease, know that I am sick too. Jane, I am also in love with you"

This time it was Jane's turn to be surprised and she said

"Are you in love with me?

I have been, for a long time

And what will your parents and Hope say?

Maura stood up and said

"Do you remember the plan I told my parents and Hope about?

Yes.

That was my plan. That's why I wanted to have dinner with them, to reveal to them that I was in love with you because I was afraid to tell them that I was in love with you and they told me that I had to tell you and that everything would be fine, they support me and they love you"

Jane took Maura's hands and said

"I told Ma about it and she jumped for joy and neither they nor my brothers will be an obstacle to our love but I was afraid that you would refuse to love me as I loved you!

But why didn't you say anything?

Because I didn't want to break our friendship. I refuse to lose you Maur"

Maura leaned down and kissed her tenderly and said

"You won't lose me, quite the contrary, you won me Jane"

Jane felt a wave of relief and happiness invade her and Jane said

"You won me too. Maur? You said you were a Rizzoli and well I confirm it, you have completely entered the Rizzoli family. I love you Maura."

Jane in turn kissed Maura and kissed her again. Jane during the kiss thought that this evening was unforgettable and an additional doubt disappeared

The End
