Day 4, 10:30pm.

Naruto's heart raced as he stood beside Gaara, his breath steadying as he watched Killer Bee and Yugito with steely determination. The wreckage of the initial skirmish lay around them, a grim reminder of the stakes. In his ear, Shisui's voice was frantic.

"Naruto, disengage! That's an order! Do you hear me? Disengage now!"

Naruto clenched his jaw, his gaze unwavering. "Sorry, Captain, but I can't do that."

He directed a fierce glare at Killer Bee, then settled on Yugito Nii, who responded with a knowing smile.

"I have history with these two."

Bee and Yugito exchanged a glance, their synchronization evident in their confident stances. Yugito turned to her longtime partner, adrenaline rushing inside her. "Ready, Bee?"

"Ready as ever, Yugi," Bee replied, his tone serious despite his usual laid-back attitude.

The four shinobi stood a few meters apart, the wreckage of the town around them a testament to the fierce battle that had already taken place. Naruto's eyes locked onto Yugito's, a mixture of anger and determination in his gaze.

"If it isn't my favourite student..." she purred, smiling warmly at Naruto. "It's been so long Uzumaki, look how much you've grown!"

"Yugito-sensei," Naruto called out, his voice carrying over the sounds of the battlefield. "When I killed Roshi, I didn't feel a sense of accomplishment. All I felt was this... searing pain and I know you felt it too."

He stepped closer, gesturing at their surroundings. "Is this what you guys trained me for all those years back? To do this to civilians on behalf of your nations? To your fellow jinchuriki? Does this make you feel good?"

Yugito's expression softened for a moment, a hint of regret flickering in her eyes. "Naruto, you know it's not that simple. We share a connection as jinchuriki, but that's where it ends. You're in our way."

Naruto clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. "I won't let you hurt innocent people, Yugito. If you stand with the enemy, then I'll have to stop you."

Bee, standing beside Yugito, interjected with a frown. "Yo, Naruto, you gotta understand, it's just the way it is. We got our own duty, and you got yours."

Yugito's chakra flared, blue flames licking around her as the patterns of the Two-Tails' curse marks crawled across her skin. Her hair whipped free, wild and untamed.

"You've grown stronger, Naruto. I can see that. But pray that it will be enough. We're not in training anymore, don't think for a second that we'll go easy on you."

Naruto's eyes narrowed, his own chakra beginning to surge. "Good. I wouldn't want it any other way." Naruto stepped closer to her, his expression determined. "Lucky for you, Yugito, I took your advice from the last time we spoke..."

With a swift motion, he tossed his flak jacket to the ground. Kurama's chakra erupted around him, his whisker marks darkening, solidifying. "See I've been doing some extra training, I'm nothing like the kid you captured all those years back."

Bee raised an eyebrow, observing Naruto's transformation. 'He's achieved full cooperation with his tailed beast already?

Naruto clenched his fists at his side, staring at his old teacher. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect this town. And believe me, I'll get over killing you pretty quickly if it comes to it."

Yugito's lips curled into a smile, her eyes blazing with determination. "You know how much I love a good challenge, Naruto. I really hope you can back up those words." Extending her claws, she crouched low, ready to pounce.

"Let's see if you've learned anything over the years."

The air crackled with energy as the four shinobi prepared to clash. Gaara, sensing the impending battle, gave Naruto a quick nod. "Brace yourself, Naruto. This won't be easy."

Naruto nodded back, his resolve unshaken. "I'm ready."

The two teams exploded into action, the ground beneath them shattering from the force of their movements.

Aside from their Kekkei Genkai, a perfect jinchuriki gains unique powers from the tailed beast they host, amplifying their abilities to an extraordinary level.

For the Eight-Tails jinchuriki, it meant the ability to breathe underwater and wield Gyūki's raw, monstrous strength.

For the Nine-Tails jinchuriki, it was Kurama's keen hearing and the eerie ability to sense even the faintest trace of negative emotions.

And for Nii Yugito, host of the Two-Tails, it was speed—lightning-fast, feline agility that left her opponents grasping at air. Maatatabi's influence made Yugito one of the fastest shinobi to ever walk the lands of the Five Great Nations. Her speed was legendary, placing her in the same breath as Konoha's Yellow Flash, Minato Namikaze, and the elusive Shisui of the Body Flicker.

XXXX

Naruto lost track of Yugito for a moment, a mere blur of motion as she closed the distance between them almost instantly. Her claws burnt with blue flames licking at the air around them as she slashed at Naruto.

Naruto barely managed to block her attack, his forearm meeting her claws with a clash of energy. The impact sent shockwaves through his body, but he held his ground.

Yugito didn't give him a moment's respite, spinning around to deliver a swift kick to his side. Naruto grunted as he took the hit, skidding back but quickly regaining his balance.

"Now's my chance..."

[Rasengan]

With a growl, Naruto formed a Rasengan in his hand and lunged at Yugito. She darted to the side, her agility allowing her to evade the spiraling sphere of chakra with ease.

Before Naruto could react, she was behind him, her claws raking across his back. Blood sprayed from the wounds, but they began to heal almost immediately, thanks to his accelerated healing factor.

Naruto spun around, swinging a massive chakra arm at her. Yugito ducked under it, her movements fluid and precise.

"Missed!" she taunted.

Yugito extended a hand towards him, and if Naruto was a moment slower, he would've been impaled by the claws that extended from her fingers, each one aimed at his head.

'That was close,' Naruto thought as he caught sight of his opponent running towards him again. He blocked and parried as best he could, but Yugito was relentless, her speed giving her the upper hand.

Seeing a small opening, Naruto lashed out with a series of powerful punches, forcing Yugito to back off momentarily as she deftly evaded his attacks.

'She's too fast!' Naruto noted, feeling frustration begin to take it's toll.

"And you're too stupid!" Kurama growled from inside him. "Stop trying to beat her at her own game, think smarter!"

However, Yugito had already regrouped, her eyes narrowing as she prepared for her next move.

She leapt onto a nearby fence, quickly dodging a Chakra arm aimed at her in quick succession.

She twirled in mid air, unleashing her signature ninjutsu on her opponent down below.

[Mouse Hairball]

Naruto rolled away from the flaming projectiles in the nick of time, getting back to his feet and immediately retaliating with another chakra arm aimed at her in the air.

Yugito evaded his attack, landing on the chakra arm and sprinting down it towards Naruto like a cat on the prowl.

As she got closer, Naruto's eyes widened in shock seeing her extend her leg to deliver a fierce kick. He raised his arms to block, but the force of her attack drove him to one knee.

"Not quite done yet!" She called out, getting into position in front of Naruto.

Yugito was relentless, pressing her advantage as she unleashed a barrage of slashes. Naruto gritted his teeth, using every ounce of his strength to hold her off.

[Multi shadow clone jutsu]

In a desperate move, Naruto activated his Shadow Clone Jutsu, creating several clones to surround Yugito. They attacked simultaneously, hoping to overwhelm her with numbers.

But Yugito was undeterred, her claws slicing through the clones with ease. She moved like a whirlwind, her speed and agility making it nearly impossible for Naruto to land a solid hit.

"That all you got?" She teased, crouching low and waiting for Naruto to make a move.

Naruto's frustration grew, but he refused to give up. He charged at Yugito, his clones following suit.

[Rasenshuriken]

Naruto formed his favourite jutsu, this time infusing it with wind chakra to create a Rasenshuriken. He hurled the spinning disc of energy at Yugito, who barely managed to evade it.

The Rasenshuriken exploded on impact, sending debris flying in all directions.

Yugito used the chaos to her advantage, slipping through the smoke and rubble to strike at Naruto from the side.

Her claws tore through his body, drawing more blood. Naruto winced but retaliated with a powerful kick that sent her sprawling.

Yugito rolled to her feet, a fierce determination in her eyes. She dashed towards Naruto, her claws glowing with intensified chakra.

Naruto met her charge head-on, their clash creating a shockwave that rippled through the battlefield. They exchanged blows at a blistering pace, each strike more violent than the last.

Yugito's claws slashed across his chest, leaving deep gashes that healed almost instantly. He retaliated with a flurry of punches and kicks, but she evaded most of them, her movements a blur.

"Ack!" Naruto grunted in pain as Yugito's claws tore through his chakra cloak.

Before he could even react, she was already behind him.

Yugito zipped around Naruto, too fast for him to track. With every pass, she landed another painful slash on him, dashing around him erratically.

In a stroke of luck, Naruto managed to catch one of Yugito's clawed hands, twisting her arm and using her momentum to throw her into a nearby wall.

The impact was brutal, but Yugito quickly recovered, rolling back to her feet.

Naruto took a look at his injuries and began to feel his frustration mount.

He was losing.

All those years of captivity, the memories of her foiling his attempt to escape came back, and he felt his anger begin to surge. The playful look in her eyes certainly wasn't helping matters, and he felt himself begin to give in to her taunts.

"YUGITOOO!" Naruto snarled at her, clenching his fists as his hatred boiled over.

"I'M WAITING FOR YOU, NARUTO!" Yugito matched his vigour, though her tone was one of excitement, rather than anger. "Come at me!"

But before Naruto could lunge, he heard Kurama urge him to control himself.

"Use your head idiot! Don't fall for her tricks!"

Naruto restrained himself, fighting to control his heavy breaths as Yugito carefully observed him, her gaze steady.

She was upon him in a moment, but Naruto was prepared this time.

Evading her swipe, he responded with a fierce right hook to her jaw. Yugito slashed at him again but Naruto deftly dodged both attacks, crashing both fists into her again and sending her staggering backwards.

Naruto seized the chance, descending upon her with a powerful kick. She managed to block the attack but he was relentless, landing several more blows.

'No way, he's—'

Yugito felt the air knocked out of her as Naruto's punch connected with her abdomen. A sharp jolt of pain on her chin sent her tumbling backwards into the ground, but she did her best to get back to her feet quickly.

"Not bad..." She smiled, spitting blood to the ground and wiping her mouth with a forearm. "I'm actually impressed, you haven't been slacking off "

"You talk too much." Naruto growled, determined to finish the fight. Gesturing with a hand, he beckoned on her to attack him again, and Yugito was all too eager to accept his offer, bolting up to him with incredible speed.

Meanwhile, Gaara faced Killer Bee, who charged at him with raw power. Gaara's sand surged forward, forming a protective barrier, but Bee's strength was overwhelming.

Bee moved like lightning, his body enveloped in the Eight-Tails' chakra, and with a mighty roar, he smashed through Gaara's defenses.

Gaara gritted his teeth, his sand scrambling to reform a barrier. He launched waves of sand at Bee, trying to ensnare him, but Bee was too strong, too fast.

The two battled fiercely, Bee's power clashing with Gaara's unyielding sand. Catching Yugito locked in combat by his side, Bee called out with a wide grin.

"Yugito, let's take the lead, with our beastly strength and speed! It's time to switch and make them bleed!"

"You got it!" She called out in reply, a determined look on her face.

Suddenly, Bee and Yugito switched targets with seamless precision.

Yugito's speed allowed her to dart past Gaara's defenses, her claws leaving deep gouges in his sand. At the same time, Bee turned his attention to Naruto, their movements perfectly synchronized.

Naruto and Gaara found themselves overwhelmed by the tag team assaults. Yugito and Bee moved in perfect harmony, their attacks relentless.

Gaara struggled to fend off Yugito, her claws tearing through his sand with ease. Naruto, meanwhile, faced Bee's raw strength, his powerful attacks shaking the ground with each strike.

"Yo, I'm the beast, ain't no holdin' me back!" Bee rapped mid-battle, hurling Naruto into a building with an arm. "Blades cut through, it's a full-on attack!"

To his pleasant surprise, Yugito joined in. "We hit like thunder, quick and clean," she flipped away from a sand tsunami from Gaara, blue flames licking at her heels as she crouched low to the ground.

Before Gaara's sand could react, a streak of blue zipped past him, and he felt warmth in his side, blood seeping from the deep claw marks that had suddenly appeared there.

Yugito perched on a wall, watched Gaara stagger in pain from her attack. "Together we're the power, the unbeatable team!"

Bee couldn't help but grin, evading a Rasenshuriken from Naruto. "Yo, she got the flow, I ain't even know!"

"That really was my limit, sorry!" Yugito replied as she charged at her opponent again. Her claws gleamed as she leapt at Gaara, and his sand formed a barrier in time.

But at the last moment, Yugito twisted in mid-air, landing on his sand barrier and using it as a springboard to launch herself back towards Naruto.

"They're switching!" Gaara growled in realization, but it was too late.

Bee, seizing the opportunity, rushed in under her, his horns sparking with electricity. He slammed into Gaara's sand with devastating force, shattering it and sending Gaara flying out of the town limits with a tremendous punch.

Naruto's heart pounded as he saw his friend knocked away, but he couldn't afford to check on him yet—Yugito was already upon him, her claws flashing.

"Damn it!" Naruto cursed as he swung a large chakra arm at her, but she slid underneath it, skidding to a stop behind him.

He was about to spin around to face her, only to see Bee rushing towards him, his body crackling with electricity as he prepared for an attack.

Yugito's blue flaming chakra roared brighter, and she mirrored Bee's movement, charging at Naruto from the opposite side.

[Double lariat]

In the split second before they struck, Naruto knew he was outmatched. The double Lariat hit with a force that would have shattered bones, but the Naruto they hit vanished in a puff of smoke.

A clone, Naruto had escaped the attack just in time, speeding off to where Gaara had landed outside the town's walls. He skidded to a stop beside his friend, his heart heavy with worry but his resolve unbroken.

Behind him, Bee and Yugito gave chase, carrying their battle outside the city's limits.

Day 4, 10:15 pm.

Hinata and her ANBU squad lay hidden in the shadows, their eyes fixed on the enemy port. Despite the dwindling number of enemy forces there, the roar of naval artillery continued to pound the town of Fūka relentlessly.

The dark hour only intensified the destruction's ominous nature. Hinata's heart ached as she thought of the soldiers and civilians suffering under the constant barrage.

From her vantage point, Hinata watched as the warships methodically fired, their shells smashing through structures and defenses.

Her Byakugan allowed her to see the devastation in painful detail, and she could almost hear the cries of the town's defenders and residents. The destruction was unrelenting.

Then, without warning, the bombardment ceased. Hinata's eyes narrowed in suspicion as she scanned the horizon. A smaller ship approached a cruiser, and men began unloading boxes onto the larger vessel. Her teammates whispered curious questions, but Hinata remained silent, focusing her Byakugan on the new arrival.

What she saw made her heart skip a beat. The smaller ship was a supply vessel, and the boxes contained ammunition for the warships' howitzers. This was their chance to cripple the enemy's naval artillery. Hinata immediately relayed the information to her team and to command.

"Kakashi-sensei, the enemy is reloading their warships with ammunition. We have to act now," Hinata said urgently into her radio.

"Stand down, Hinata. It's too risky. Wait for further orders," Kakashi's voice crackled back, calm but firm.

Frustration gnawed at her. They couldn't just sit and watch this opportunity slip away. The first supply boat finished unloading, and the second one began. Each box that was transferred felt like a nail in Fūka's coffin.

"Kakashi, requesting permission to engage the enemy."

"Stand down Hinata." Kakashi's voice was firm. "You do not have permission. "Do not leave your position." The radio went off with a beep.

A half hour passed and Hinata clenched her fists, her resolve hardening. "We have to do something. We may not get another chance like this," she whispered fiercely to her squad.

Her teammates exchanged hesitant glances. "But Kakashi-sensei said to stand down," one of them said.

"I know what he said," Hinata replied, her voice firm. "But if we wait, more people will die. We can stop this now. We have to take the risk."

Her conviction was contagious. One by one, her squadmates nodded, their reluctance giving way to determination. They knew the stakes were high, and they trusted Hinata's judgment.

With a final glance back at the port, Hinata led her team through the shadows, their movements silent and purposeful. The night was still dark, and the early morning chill bit at their skin, but their focus remained unwavering.

As they neared the shoreline, Hinata's heart pounded with a mix of fear and determination. They were about to defy orders and take on a dangerous mission, but the potential reward was too great to ignore. They could save lives and turn the tide of the battle.

"We're going to board that ship," Hinata whispered, her eyes flashing with resolve. "Let's move."

Together, they set off towards the sea, the weight of their decision heavy on their shoulders but their spirits unyielding. The dawn was still hours away, and the night was theirs to reclaim.

Day 4, 11:00pm

The sea breeze whipped through the air as Naruto and Gaara, standing on the outskirts of the town, prepared for their desperate final stand against Killer Bee and Yugito Nii.

Faced with no other option, Naruto turned to his inner demon. "Kurama, let's do this."

"Alright."

With determination etched on their faces, they both unleashed their full power, transforming into their respective tailed beasts: Kurama and Shukaku.

Their opponents followed suit, transforming into their full tailed beast forms. The ground trembled beneath their massive forms, and the roar of their transformations echoed across the battlefield.

Kurama, the Nine-Tails, stood tall and fierce, his nine tails lashing out behind him. Beside him, Shukaku, the One-Tail, towered with a menacing grin, his sand shifting around him.

Opposite them, Gyūki, the Eight-Tails, loomed with his massive tentacles poised for attack, and Maatatabi, the Two-Tails, moved with fluid grace, her blue flames flickering ominously around her form.

The tension was palpable as the four tailed beasts squared off, the air crackling with raw energy. Then, with a deafening roar, they charged at each other, their colossal forms colliding in a titanic clash.

Kurama was the first to strike, his tails whipping out in a flurry of powerful attacks. Gyūki met him head-on, his tentacles wrapping around Kurama's limbs in a fierce struggle for dominance.

Meanwhile, Maatatabi darted around Shukaku with incredible agility, her blue flames searing through the sand defenses Gaara conjured.

"Naruto, we need to separate them!" Gaara's voice echoed through the mind link, his frustration evident.

"Got it!" Naruto replied, directing Kurama to focus on Gyūki while trying to keep an eye on Maatatabi's swift movements.

Kurama's tails lashed out, trying to entangle Gyūki, but the Eight-Tails countered with a barrage of ink shots, temporarily blinding the Nine-Tails. Taking advantage of the moment, Matatabi pounced on Shukaku, her claws tearing through the sand with alarming ease.

Shukaku retaliated with a massive sandstorm, enveloping Maatatabi in a whirlwind of grit and debris.

But the Two-Tails' agility allowed her to slip through the storm, her flames scorching a path through the sand. She moved with a speed and grace that made it difficult for Shukaku to land a decisive blow.

"She's fast..." Gaara warned, struggling to keep up with Maatatabi's relentless assault.

"I'll try to slow her down!" Naruto responded, directing Kurama to unleash a powerful roar that sent shockwaves rippling through the battlefield. The force momentarily disrupted Maatatabi's movements, giving Shukaku a brief respite.

Seizing the opportunity, Kurama charged forward, his fist slamming into Gyūki with tremendous force. The Eight-Tails staggered but quickly recovered, his lightning infused tentacles lashing out to entangle Kurama once more.

The two giants grappled fiercely, their immense strength causing the ground to crack and buckle beneath them.

Nearby, Matatabi resumed her attack on Shukaku, feinting to the side to evade a barrage of sand bullets.

[Mouse Hairball]

Shukaku created a wall of sand that blocked the Two tails jutsu and fought back with ferocity, his sand forming massive claws and spikes that lashed out at the agile Two-Tails.

But Maatatabi's movements allowed her to evade most of the attacks, opening her mouth to shoot forth a jet of blue flames at Shukaku's defensive shield, lighting the dark terrain in a bright sheen of light.

As the battle raged on, the tailed beasts began to unleash their most devastating techniques.

Gyūki and Maatatabi prepared to fire Tailed Beast Bombs, the dark spheres of condensed chakra combining. In response, Shukaku and Kurama retaliated with theirs, combining it into a single dense ball of chakra.

Launching them against each other, the angle of impact caused both tailed beast bombs to be deflected in different directions, into the sea and into the barren desert.

The resulting explosions were cataclysmic, the shockwaves tearing through the sea and sending waves flying in all directions. The ground shook violently, and the sky lit up with flashes of destructive energy.

Despite the chaos, the combatants continued to press their attacks, their resolve unwavering.

Kurama's versatility with his nine tails allowed him to attack from multiple angles, each tail a powerful weapon in its own right. He used them to counter Gyūki's tentacles, striking with a precision that made it difficult for the Eight-Tails to maintain his grip.

However, Gyūki's sheer strength and resilience made him a formidable opponent, his large fists threatening to pound Kurama's limbs with crushing force.

Meanwhile, Maatatabi's agility allowed her to dance around Shukaku's attacks, pawing at him with her sharp claws whenever she got the chance.

But she had to be wary of the Tanuki's attacks, as he wielded the sandy terrain as an effective weapon, landing hits on her periodically.

Eventually, Shukaku managed to restrain Gyuki with a Sand Tsunami, pushing him into the sea. Behind him Maatatabi rushed forward, but she found herself intercepted by Kurama.

His tails wrapped around her while she was in mid air and Kurama slammed a massive Rasengan into her face, sending her flying backwards in pain.

"Hell yeah!" Naruto cheered, but his joy was short lived. Gyūki was far from finished. His massive tentacles reached out from the depths, wrapping around Kurama and Shukaku, pulling them both into the churning sea.

Kurama struggled fiercely, his enormous claws slashing at the water, but Maatatabi charged at him with a burst of speed, using her hind legs to launch him deeper into the waves.

Underwater, the struggle intensified. Kurama and Shukaku fought to swim back to land, but the resistance of the water slowed their movements.

Gyūki, charging his body with electricity, released a torrent of voltage into the sea. The water lit up in a brilliant, blinding light, the electricity coursing through Kurama and Shukaku, incapacitating them.

The pain was excruciating, and Naruto and Gaara, unable to maintain their tailed beast forms, reverted back to their human forms.

Gasping for breath, they swam desperately towards the shore, their bodies aching from the relentless assault. They stumbled onto the beach, weakened but still determined.

Not far away, Maatatabi prowled around them, her glowing blue eyes fixed on the two shinobi. Gyūki rose from beneath the sea, his massive form towering over the battlefield.

Naruto's chakra mode flickered back to life as he saw both tailed beasts preparing to unleash their tailed beast bombs. Gaara struggled to his feet, his teeth clenched in defiance.

Bee, within Gyūki, hesitated. His expression showed conflict as he saw his old friend, Naruto, standing before him. Yugito, still in the form of Maatatabi, noticed Bee's hesitation and glanced at him questioningly.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

Before the tension could reach its peak, a massive explosion erupted from the sea. The shockwave drew everyone's attention, giving Gaara the chance he needed.

He quickly formed a sand disc beneath him and Naruto, lifting them into the air and away from the battlefield. Beneath them the two massive beasts watched them carefully, but did nothing to try to stop them from fleeing.

Back inside the town, Gaara crashed through a house's window, inside a kitchen, collapsing to the floor to catch his breath. Naruto, still ready to fight, looked back with frustration. "Gaara, we can't just leave! We have to stop them!" Naruto shouted.

"Naruto," Gaara said firmly, "we need to regroup and defend the other districts. We can't win this fight now, but we can still make a difference elsewhere. We have to be strategic."

Naruto hesitated, the desire to confront his former comrades burning in his eyes. But he saw the reason in Gaara's words. With a reluctant nod, he agreed.

"Alright," Naruto said, determination returning to his voice. "Let's go."

They set off towards the southern district, leaving the beach behind. As they moved, Naruto's thoughts were on the civilians and soldiers who needed their protection.

They would fight again, but for now, they had to prioritize the greater good. The battle was far from over, and Naruto knew that their paths would cross with Bee and Yugito once more.

Day 4, 11:00 pm.

The moon cast a silver glow on the port as Hinata and her ANBU squad moved like shadows towards the supply ship. The air was thick with tension, each member acutely aware of the high stakes of their mission. The enemy warships had paused their relentless bombardment to reload ammunition, presenting a rare opportunity for a crippling strike.

Hinata led her team, their steps soundless against the sea's surface. They dropped beneath the water as a Kiri patrol boat slowly sailed past, keeping watch around the vulnerable warships.

In the distance, the guards on the supply ship were relaxed, their vigilance lowered in the late hours.

Getting closer, they dipped beneath the icy water before they could be spotted. Using her Byakugan, Hinata spotted a clear path to the ship's side. She signaled her team, and they swiftly moved up the hull and onto the deck.

The first guard never saw them coming. Hinata's kunai silenced him before he could make a sound. Her squadmates followed suit, eliminating the few scattered sentries with deadly precision.

The deck was cleared in minutes, and they made their way to the storage room where the ammunition was being loaded.

One of her teammates, began planting paper bombs. They had only three, but each one was packed with enough explosive power to set off the entire cache. Hinata and the rest of the team stood guard, their eyes scanning the darkness for any signs of movement.

As the bombs were being placed, a shout rang out from the larger cruiser being restocked. Enemy shinobi had spotted them. The alarm was raised, and arrows and kunai rained down on their position.

"We've been made!" one of her squadmates shouted.

"Defend our position!" Hinata ordered. "We need those bombs to go off."

They fought back fiercely, kunai clashing and shuriken flying. The supply ship's crew was now alerted, and they rushed towards Hinata and her team.

The ANBU fought with the desperation of those who knew failure was not an option, their movements a blur of lethal efficiency.

"Bombs are set!" the Shinobi tasked with demolitions called out. "We need to move!"

"Go!" Hinata commanded, leading the charge off the ship. They dove into the water, the icy cold biting into their skin. They swam deep, trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the impending explosion.

Above them, the cruiser's engines roared to life, attempting to escape the blast radius. Hinata watched through the murky water, her heart sinking as the warship began to pull away. Her squadmate, seeing their chance slipping away, detonated the bombs.

The resulting explosion was a brilliant fireball that lit up the night sky. The ammunition on the supply ship added to the blast, creating a massive shockwave.

The nearby cruiser was caught in the explosion, heavily damaged and listing to one side. The water around Hinata and her team churned violently.

Underwater, Hinata felt the shockwave hit her like a sledgehammer. The force knocked her off course, and she struggled to maintain her bearings. Her lungs burned as the air was forced out, and she began to lose consciousness, her vision blurring. Desperately, she tried to swim to the surface, but her strength was failing.

In the darkness of the sea, it was impossible for her teammates to spot her. Hinata's limbs felt heavy, and her movements slowed. She felt herself drifting, the cold water wrapping around her like a shroud.

Her last conscious thought was a prayer for her team and for the mission's success, as she began to sink deeper into the abyss.

Day 5, 12:05 am.

The medical tent at the northern tip of Fūka was a hive of activity, filled with the groans of wounded shinobi and the hurried movements of medics.

Sakura moved from one patient to another, her hands glowing with healing chakra as she worked tirelessly. Her eyes were heavy with exhaustion, but she pushed on, determined to save as many lives as she could.

A sudden commotion near the entrance caught her attention. She saw Shisui and Temari helping a stretcher-bearer who was carrying a familiar figure. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized Sasuke.

"Sasuke!" Sakura hurried over, her voice filled with concern. "What happened?"

Sasuke, pale and bleeding from deep stab wounds on his side, managed a weak smile. "Sakura..."

"Hold on, you'll be fine," she assured him, her hands already working to stem the flow of blood. Her chakra flowed into his wounds, knitting the torn flesh together. "Just stay with me."

Shisui, standing nearby with a grim expression, spoke up. "We've been completely driven out from the west. We're fighting hard from the town's center, but it's not looking good."

Temari, still seething with anger, added, "We've lost so much ground. Where are Gaara and Naruto? We need their firepower, and where are they? Of course they're off fighting the enemy jinchuriki!"

Sakura bit her lip, trying to stay focused on healing Sasuke. She finally managed to stop the bleeding and looked up at him, offering a small, reassuring smile. "You're going to be okay. Just rest now."

Sasuke nodded weakly, his eyes closing as he finally allowed himself to relax.

Shisui sighed, his frustration evident. "The only good news is that the enemy's artillery barrage has significantly reduced. We're not sure why, but it's given us some breathing room."

Unbeknownst to Shisui, the enemy had withdrawn all their ships till further notice, scuttling the cruiser, KNS Orca which was heavily damaged by the ammunition explosion during the ANBU's daring raid.

Sakura felt a pang of hopelessness. "We're barely holding on," she murmured. "I don't know how much longer we can sustain this."

Temari, tending to Kankuro with the help of other medics, shared her anger and worry. "We're all doing our best, but it feels like it's never enough."

Suddenly, Shisui's radio crackled to life. He listened intently, his face growing pale. "Retreat?" he echoed in disbelief. "But..."

Sakura and Temari looked at him, their hearts sinking. "What's happening?" Sakura asked, fear creeping into her voice.

Shisui turned to them, his expression somber. "Command has ordered a full retreat. We can't hold the town any longer. The enemy is pushing on our flanks, and if we stay, we'll be encircled."

The tent fell silent as the gravity of the situation sank in. The defenders were being forced to abandon their positions, to surrender half the town to the advancing enemy.

Temari clenched her fists, her anger giving way to a cold resolve. "We have to help get the injured out first. We can't leave anyone behind."

Sakura nodded, her heart heavy. "Let's move quickly. We need to make sure everyone gets out safely."

As the order spread, preparations for the retreat began in earnest. Medics and shinobi worked together to evacuate the injured, while those still able to fight took up defensive positions, determined to stall the enemy's advance for as long as possible.

Sakura, her hands trembling from exhaustion and fear, continued to work, her mind focused on the task at hand. The battle wasn't over, but for now, survival was their only goal.

Three days later...

Naruto and Gaara fought furiously amidst the crumbling ruins of Fūka. The air was thick with smoke and the cries of battle, and the once serene port town was now a hellscape of fire and destruction.

They had been holding back the enemy, buying precious time for their comrades to retreat and for as many civilians as possible to escape. But the enemy forces pressed from all directions, relentless and overwhelming.

Naruto, panting heavily and bruised from the relentless combat, received the dreaded order through his earpiece. "Naruto, Gaara, you need to pull back now. The retreat is complete. Leave the town immediately."

He exchanged a grim look with Gaara. "We have to go."

Gaara nodded, his face set in a determined but weary expression. They turned and began their escape, using a disc of sand to soar above the chaos below. As they ascended, Naruto cast one last glance at the smoldering town beneath them.

Fūka, once a beautiful haven with its serene beaches and vibrant life, was now an inferno.

The memories of the single mother who had sheltered him and his team only a week ago flooded his mind. Her tired face, her hopeful eyes. He had promised to protect them, to ensure their safety. And now...

"We failed them," Naruto muttered, his voice choked with guilt and sorrow. "I failed them."

Gaara placed a hand on his shoulder, offering silent support as they sped towards Sunagakure. The enemy's warships still roared in the distance, but the town grew smaller and smaller behind them.

They landed near friendly lines, greeted by their fellow shinobi with a mixture of relief and sorrow. Naruto's heart was heavy with the weight of their loss. The cost of this battle was unbearable, the sacrifices too great.

"We lost," he whispered, staring at the ground. "We couldn't save them."

Gaara, his own heart heavy with the weight of command, spoke softly. "We did everything we could, Naruto. Sometimes, that's all we can do."

Naruto clenched his fists, feeling the sting of tears in his eyes. "It's not enough. It will never be enough."

The sight of the smoking ruins of Fūka lingered in his mind, a haunting reminder of the lives lost and the promises broken. As they regrouped with their allies, the weight of their defeat pressed down on him, a burden he wasn't sure he could bear.

The retreat had been necessary, but it came at a tremendous cost. And in the stillness of that somber night, Naruto vowed to himself that he would find the strength to protect those he cared about, no matter the cost.

For now, though, the pain of their failure was a wound that would not easily heal.
