Ay, the Raikage, strode through the bustling camp, his imposing figure drawing the attention of the shinobi around him. Flanked by his general Darui and head diplomat Samui, he observed the weary but determined faces of his soldiers. The war had taken its toll on everyone, but Ay knew he couldn't afford to show any signs of weakness.
"Darui," Ay began, his voice deep and commanding, "how's the war progressing?"
Darui, ever composed, replied, "We're still holding on, Raikage. But it's difficult. Our forces are stretched thin, and the enemy's counterattacks have been relentless."
Ay nodded, his expression stern. "What do you need to hold the line more effectively?"
"More artillery, especially the poison gas shells," Darui responded without hesitation. "They're our best bet for turning the tide in critical engagements."
Ay sighed, a hint of frustration creeping into his voice. "The poison shells are hard to produce, Darui. We need to supply them to all our allies, not just our own forces. Iwa is expecting a shipment soon."
Darui's composure remained intact, but Ay could see the tension in his eyes. "I understand, Raikage. But we need to prioritize our own fronts as well. Without adequate support, our forces will continue to suffer."
Before Ay could respond, Samui interjected. "Raikage, the Mizukage has also requested additional artillery to intensify her shelling of key fortifications in the Land of Wind. She's also asking for reinforcements."
Ay's frustration deepened. "Ever since Konoha counterattacked, Kiri has been fighting Suna on its own. They need our support, but we can't afford to spread ourselves too thin."
Samui nodded. "Indeed, Raikage. Their navy's power is diminished without waterways in the wind nation for them to operate in, and as a result, their advances are slowing."
Ay clenched his fists, the weight of the situation bearing down on him. "We've lost the initiative to Konoha. We need to turn things around. Darui, any news on morale?"
Darui hesitated before speaking. "There have been some mutinies, Raikage. Small scale and quickly dealt with, but it's a sign that morale is dropping."
Ay's brow furrowed. "We can't afford dissent within our ranks. We need to maintain unity and focus. What about Bee?"
Darui's face brightened slightly. "Bee was deployed to assist a brigade holding the line at a settlement to the southwest. He successfully completed the mission and is now being brought back to the main camp for redeployment."
Ay nodded, a hint of relief in his eyes. "Good. Bee's presence is crucial. And Yugito?"
Darui's expression turned serious. "Yugito will be deployed on the sabotage mission we discussed. It's a very dangerous one, deep behind enemy lines."
Ay's voice was firm. "That mission is vital. If successful, it could significantly disrupt Konoha's supply lines and weaken their front. Is she up to the task?"
Darui met Ay's gaze with unwavering confidence. "She is, Raikage. Yugito is one of our best. She knows the risks and is prepared for the challenge."
Ay took a deep breath, feeling the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. "Make sure she has everything she needs. This mission could be a turning point for us."
Darui and Samui both nodded. "Understood, Raikage."
As they continued their walk through the camp, Ay's mind raced with thoughts of the countless lives at stake and the future of his village. The war was far from over, and he knew that every decision he made would determine the fate of his people.
In the distance, the sound of soldiers training and preparing for battle filled the air, a constant reminder of the challenges that lay ahead. Ay knew he had to stay strong, for the sake of his village and for the sake of all those who depended on him.
The thunderous roar of battle had finally subsided, and the victorious cries of Konoha's forces echoed through the ravaged streets of the Iwa-held stronghold.
Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, stood tall among his soldiers, his presence an immense morale boost. The settlement had fallen, and despite the dwindling artillery supplies, Iwagakure failed to hold off the assault. The stronghold was now in Konoha's hands.
Minato turned to Naruto, his son, who had fought valiantly by his side. Together, they had been unstoppable, cutting through enemy lines and leading their troops to victory.
"Naruto," Minato said, his voice filled with pride, "you've grown immensely as a shinobi. Your performance today was exceptional."
Naruto, slightly pleased, gave a small smile. "Thank you, Father. We did it together."
Minato placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder. "I'm heading to the rear to discuss our next move. Stay sharp and watch over our men."
"Understood," Naruto replied, watching as Minato teleported away in a flash.
Naruto set off in the direction of his team, passing Konoha shinobi going house to house, breaking in and searching for enemy resistance.
He witnessed some of his comrades looting from civilian homes, treating the remaining population with little respect. Cries of women and children filled the air, but Naruto forced himself to keep walking, his heart aching with each step.
1 week later...
Naruto and Hinata walked through the occupied village, their presence casting a tense shadow over the war-torn streets. The remaining villagers eyed them warily, fear etched into their faces. The orders were clear: search every house for contraband. They approached a modest home, its door hanging loosely on broken hinges.
Naruto knocked sharply. "Open up, Konoha patrol."
After a moment, the door creaked open, revealing a middle-aged man, his face pale and lined with worry. "G-good afternoon," he stammered, his voice trembling. "How can I help you?"
"Inside," Naruto instructed him, closing the door behind them as they made it into the living room.
Hinata stepped forward, "Where is the rest of your family?"
The man swallowed hard, nodding vigorously. "Oh, I live alone now. My son... he died in battle."
Hinata's eyes, focused with the activation of her Byakugan, scanned the house. She saw a figure hiding upstairs. "Naruto," she said, her voice tense, "there's someone upstairs."
The man's eyes widened in shock and fear. "Please, there's no one else, I swear!"
Ignoring him, Naruto moved past, climbing the creaky wooden stairs two at a time. The man's protests followed him but went unheeded. Reaching the top floor, Naruto listened intently before opening the door and entering a bedroom.
He entered the room, crouching next to a bed. The sound of muffled cries from underneath alerted him to another presence in the room. Reaching under the bed, his hand closed around a leg, and he pulled out a teenage girl, who screamed in terror. She thrashed, trying to break free, but froze instantly upon recognizing him.
"Sit on the bed," Naruto ordered, his voice cold and authoritative. The girl, tears streaming down her face, complied, her body trembling.
Naruto crouched in front of her. "Is anyone else hiding?" he asked.
"No," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Naruto glanced around the room, which was neatly furnished. "Any contraband?" he demanded.
"No," she repeated, her voice shaking with fear.
Naruto scanned the room with his sage mode, ensuring she was telling the truth. He didn't detect another presence, which let him know she was being honest.
"Don't move," he ordered as he rose to begin searching the room for contraband. With each piece of furniture he searched and disturbed, the girl retreated further and further away from him. His eyes fell on a drawer, and he opened it, revealing a small jewelry box. He picked it up, inspecting its contents—necklaces, rings, and other precious items.
Naruto studied the boxes items carefully, they were well crafted, and looked expensive. He singled out a particular necklace adorned with a lavender crystal, admiring it's beauty. For a moment he considered taking some for himself: it's not like the girl could do anything about it and he wouldn't be the first to do something similar. But he quickly drove away his thoughts, embarrassed at them.
Suddenly, the girl's breath hitched, and she stuttered, "Th-that was my mother's. She left it for me."
Naruto's heart ached. He could feel the weight of her fear and the injustice of the situation. He picked out the beautiful crystal necklace, its gem catching the light. He imagined how much Hinata would cherish a gift like it as he decided to put the necklace back.
To his surprise, the girl spoke, her voice trembling even more. "Y-you can take it if you want. Please, just don't hurt us."
Naruto was taken aback. He asked again to confirm, "Are you sure?"
"Yes," she stuttered, tears in her eyes, "please, just take it."
Naruto pocketed the necklace, his conscience gnawing at him. He turned back to her, his voice softer now. "Hide the box better before the next patrol comes." He paused, an awkward silence passing between them. "Thank you for your gift."
As he left the room, the girl's eyes followed him, filled with a mix of fear and resignation. Downstairs, Naruto found Hinata still talking to the man, who was now on his knees, pleading.
"I found your daughter hiding upstairs," Naruto said, his voice firm.
Hinata turned her intense gaze to the man. "Why did you lie to us?" she asked sharply.
The man's voice broke as he spoke. "I was trying to protect her. Please, don't punish us. I'll give you anything I have. Just, please, don't hurt her."
Hinata's expression softened slightly. "We won't punish you, but you need to cooperate with patrols to prevent misunderstandings. We're not here to harm civilians."
"Thank you," the man whispered, tears streaming down his face. "Thank you so much."
As Naruto and Hinata left the house, the tension in the air remained thick. Naruto's mind kept returning to the girl and the necklace she had given him, the weight of the war and its impact on innocent lives pressing heavily on his heart.
Killer Bee trudged through the camp, his body weary from yet another grueling mission. His mind, however, was filled with anticipation. Despite the never-ending cycle of battles, the thought of seeing Yugito again brought a rare smile to his face. She had told him she had something important to discuss, and his curiosity was piqued.
After reporting to command, Bee made his way to the canteen where they had agreed to meet. He spotted her from a distance, her golden hair shining even in the dim light. As he approached, her smile warmed him more than any sun ever could.
"Yo, Yugito!" Bee called out, his voice carrying a melodic lilt. "Long time no see, ya feel me?"
Yugito's face brightened at the sight of him. "Bee, it's good to see you," she replied, standing up to embrace him. "You look tired."
Bee chuckled, holding her close for a moment longer. "Yeah, it's been rough, but seeing you makes it all worth it."
They settled at a table, the familiar hum of the canteen surrounding them. Bee watched her closely, noting the subtle tension in her eyes.
"So, what have you been up to, Yugito?" Bee asked, leaning forward, his elbows resting on the table.
Yugito took a deep breath, trying to mask her nerves. "Just the usual... waiting for orders. But it's been quieter here compared to the front lines."
Bee grinned, a playful glint in his eyes. "Lucky you. I've been from one battlefield to another, no rest for the wicked, you know?"
Yugito laughed softly, the sound easing some of Bee's fatigue. "I heard you did an amazing job out there. They're all talking about it."
Bee shrugged, though he was pleased by her praise. "Just doing what I do best. But enough about me, what's this important thing you wanted to tell me?"
Yugito's smile faltered slightly, her fingers fidgeting with a loose thread on her sleeve. "Well, I... I'm going on a high-risk sabotage mission soon."
Bee's expression grew serious. "What? That sounds dangerous, Yugito. Are you sure you're up for it?"
Yugito nodded, though her eyes betrayed her anxiety. "Yes, I'm ready. It's something that needs to be done."
Bee reached across the table, taking her hand in his. "Hey, you know you can tell me anything, right? If something's bothering you, just say it."
Yugito squeezed his hand, her heart aching with the weight of her secret. "I know, Bee. I just... I'm fine, really."
Bee searched her eyes, his concern growing. "If you say so. Just promise me you'll be careful out there."
"I promise," Yugito whispered, though doubt gnawed at her insides.
Inside her mind, Maatatabi stirred. "You should tell him, Yugito. He deserves to know."
"I can't," Yugito replied silently, her resolve wavering. "Not now. Not like this."
Bee's voice broke through her thoughts. "Hey, you okay? You seem distant."
Yugito forced a smile, her heart heavy. "I'm just tired, Bee. It's been a long day."
Bee nodded, though he remained unconvinced. "Alright, but remember, I'm always here for you."
The pair sat in comfortable silence for a while, savoring the rare moment of peace amidst the chaos of war. Bee cherished these moments with her, even as a storm brewed in Yugito's heart.
As they finished their meal, Bee looked at her with a soft smile. "I'm glad we got to catch up, Yugito. It's been too long."
"Me too, Bee," Yugito replied, her voice tinged with sadness. "Take care of yourself out there."
"You too," Bee said, his tone gentle. "And remember, no matter what happens, I got your back."
They stood, sharing one last embrace. Yugito held on a little tighter, as if trying to draw strength from him.
As they parted ways, Bee couldn't shake the feeling that she was hiding something. But for now, he was content to simply have her by his side, even if just for a fleeting moment.
Yugito watched him go, her heart heavy with unspoken words. She knew she had to tell him soon, but the fear of the unknown kept her silent. For now, she would hold onto the hope that they could find peace amidst the storm, together.
The afternoon sun hung over the village as Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata prepared to respond to an emergency. The recent surge in partisan activity had intensified their duties, and today was no different.
They had received reports of an insurgent group attacking a foot patrol that afternoon. Luckily for them, the culprits had been identified and were now cornered inside a barn.
Naruto, his expression serious, glanced at his teammates. "Let's move. We've got to make sure we catch these guys before they get away."
Hinata nodded, her Byakugan scanning the surroundings as they approached the village barn. She relayed instructions to Naruto and Sasuke through their earpieces, her voice calm but urgent.
"I have visual confirmation of two insurgents holed up inside. They're surrounded by our men. Proceed with caution."
As they neared the barn, Naruto's keen eyes picked out the familiar silhouette of a Konoha shinobi squad, their stances tense, weapons drawn. Sasuke waved to them. "We're here. Give us a moment to get inside."
With a nod from the team leader, Naruto and Sasuke entered the barn. Inside, the dim light barely penetrated the thick wood. Naruto's senses were on high alert as he and Sasuke searched for the insurgents. They moved silently, their footsteps barely audible on the hay-covered floor.
Suddenly, Naruto's enhanced hearing picked up the sound of muffled voices. He signaled Sasuke, who used his Sharingan to pinpoint their location. They found the two insurgents huddled in a corner, their faces marked with fear.
"Stay down!" Naruto commanded, his voice firm as he lunged forward. The brief scuffle that ensued was swift; Naruto's combat skills swiftly incapacitated one of the insurgents. Sasuke followed with a genjutsu that rendered the second insurgent unconscious. The two were now safely under their control.
As Naruto caught his breath, he examined the captured insurgents. They were young, their features barely matured. "These kids… They're barely out of their teens," he muttered, feeling a pang of sympathy.
The shinobi outside moved inside the barn, securing the culprits. In his earpiece, Hinata voiced her pleasure. "That was great you guys, well done."
The following morning, the village square was filled with a heavy atmosphere of anticipation and dread. The villagers assembled, their expressions a mix of curiosity and unease. Naruto arrived as instructed and saw six people lined up in a row, their heads covered by burlap sacks. His stomach twisted in discomfort as he approached the scene.
A Konoha Jonin stepped forward, holding a stack of papers. His voice was cold and devoid of empathy as he read out the charges. "These individuals have been accused of participating in partisan activities against Konoha. As per our policy, we will execute two people for every Konoha shinobi killed. Today, we are fortunate to have only two partisans to deal with."
Naruto's heart sank as he was called to the front. The Jonin handed him a sword, its blade gleaming ominously in the sunlight. "Naruto Uzumaki, the fearsome Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, will carry out the executions. Let his presence be a reminder that no matter how hard you fight, it will never be worth it. You will never win, and continuing to resist will only bring you more pain."
The Jonin's eyes were steely, and he signaled Naruto to proceed. Naruto's hand shook as he grasped the sword, his mind racing with turmoil. He could still hear the echoes of his past decisions—the bunker incident, the engineers he had killed. He wanted to step back, but the Jonin's whispered commands pierced his thoughts.
"Don't hesitate, Naruto. Do your job!" the Jonin hissed angrily.
Kurama's mocking voice resonated within him. "It's nothing you haven't done before, why are you hesitating now, hero?
Naruto took a deep breath, struggling to steady his shaking hands. As he lifted the sword, he noticed the strands of hair peeking from under the bag of the first person in line. His heart stopped as he recognized the color.
It was the same shade as the girl who had given him the necklace the previous night.
As he watched the person kneeling down before him, his ear picked up a familiar voice, whimpering in fear.
The realization hit him like a tidal wave—the girl in front of him was likely the same one he had encountered in that bedroom. His hand trembled uncontrollably, and the sword clattered to the ground with a loud clang.
The Jonin's face turned red with frustration. "Uzumaki! what are you doing? Do your job!"
Naruto's voice was barely a whisper, his resolve wavering. "I can't. I can't do this."
The Jonin's anger flared. "This is not a time for hesitation! Get out of the way if you can't do your job!"
"No, I'm not leaving here," Naruto responded with a boldness he didn't know he had.
Shisui, sensing the escalating situation, stepped forward. "Oi, Naruto, step aside. Let someone else handle this."
Naruto stood his ground, his gaze locked on the girl, who was sobbing softly. As Shisui gently guided him away, Naruto could hear the harsh finality of the Jonin's orders. The execution was carried out as he walked away, each anguished cry a knife to his heart.
With each step, Naruto's heart felt heavier. The weight of his decision bore down on him, the cries of the innocent ringing in his ears. He knew he had made his choice, but the cost of it was a burden he would carry forever.
As he exited the square, Naruto's resolve hardened. He would not let the darkness of his duty consume him. He would find a way to fight this war while holding on to the remnants of his humanity.
The path ahead was fraught with moral dilemmas and harsh realities, but Naruto was determined to navigate it with the strength of his convictions. The memory of the young girl's face would stay with him, a reminder of the thin line between justice and cruelty.
Yugito lay in her tent, staring up at the canvas ceiling, her mind in turmoil. The mission was imminent, but her thoughts were consumed by a far more personal concern. She tossed and turned, unable to find peace.
Her mind kept replaying the day she had discovered her pregnancy. Naruto's expression had been a mix of surprise and compassion as he revealed the news, his decision to spare her life despite their circumstances. Since then, her worries and fears had only multiplied.
Fatigue plagued her more often now, her body reminding her of the life growing within her. At two months pregnant, it wouldn't be long before she could no longer hide it. Maatatabi's voice echoed in her mind.
"Yugito, you need to tell him. You can't carry this burden alone."
Yugito took a deep breath, steeling herself. She knew Maatatabi was right. Bee had the right to know. Quietly, she slipped out of her tent, the cool night air brushing against her skin. She made her way stealthily to Bee's tent, her heart pounding in her chest. She prayed he was still awake.
As she approached, she saw a faint light flickering inside. Taking a deep breath, she lifted the flap and entered. Bee looked up, surprised but quickly breaking into a smile.
"Yugito! What brings you here this late?"
His happiness quickly turned to concern as he noticed her nervous demeanor. "What's wrong?"
Yugito's voice trembled as she began to speak. "Bee, I... I have something important to tell you." She took another deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I didn't want to speak to you just to tell you about my mission..."
"What is it then?" Bee asked, curious.
"I'm pregnant. It's your child."
Bee's eyes widened in shock, but a moment later, he was grinning from ear to ear. "You're serious? That's amazing!"
He stood up and embraced her, his joy palpable. Yugito felt some of her tension melt away in his arms, but the weight of her worries remained.
"I'm happy too, Bee. I really am," she said softly, pulling back slightly to look into his eyes. "But I'm also scared. What will happen if command finds out?"
Bee's expression grew serious. "What do you mean?"
Yugito bit her lip, her voice barely above a whisper. "They might force me to abort the pregnancy or... or extract Maatatabi and make another Jinchuriki."
Bee's face darkened as he considered the possibility. "No. I won't let that happen. We'll find a way."
"But how?" Yugito's voice broke, tears welling up in her eyes. "We're at war, Bee. They won't make exceptions for us. I don't know what to do."
Bee pulled her close again, his voice firm but gentle. "We'll figure it out together. You're not alone in this."
Yugito finally let her tears fall, her body shaking with sobs. "I don't want to lose our child. I don't want to lose you."
Bee held her tighter, his own heart aching. "You won't. We'll find a way to keep you both safe. I promise."
She looked up at him, her eyes searching his face for reassurance. "Can I stay with you tonight? I don't want to be alone."
Bee nodded, guiding her to his bed. "Of course. Stay with me."
They lay down together, Bee holding her close as her sobs gradually subsided. His mind raced, trying to think of a solution. He couldn't lose her. He couldn't lose their child. As Yugito's breathing evened out and she fell asleep in his arms, Bee remained awake, staring at the ceiling, his thoughts in turmoil.
His mind raced with a torrent of emotions. Yugito slept peacefully beside him, her head resting gently on his shoulder, but he couldn't bring himself to sleep.
The news of the pregnancy had filled him with a whirlwind of feelings: joy, fear, hope, and despair. He was happy, of course—having a child with Yugito was a dream come true—but the potential consequences weighed heavily on his heart.
He worried about losing their child, or worse, losing both Yugito and the baby. The thought of having to choose between his family and his duty to his village gnawed at him, an unbearable dilemma. Feeling frustrated, Bee let his mind drift through memories of his past, trying to find some solace in the chaos.
His thoughts wandered back to the academy, where he had first met Yugito. They had been inseparable from the start, both of them top of their class, always pushing each other to be better, and had both made Jonin before turning eighteen.
He remembered the day Yugito was chosen to be the Jinchuriki of Maatatabi, and how he had worked tirelessly to be selected as the host for Gyuki, the Eight-Tails, just so he could share her burden and support her.
All his most memorable missions were the ones they had shared, fighting side by side. She was his best friend, his most trusted comrade on the battlefield. They had faced countless battles together, and she had always been his source of strength and inspiration.
Serving Kumo without her by his side felt depressing, a bleak future he couldn't bear to imagine. And now, the thought of losing the ultimate symbol of their love—their child—was something he couldn't accept.
Bee looked down at Yugito, her face serene in sleep. He watched her for a long moment, remembering all the promises they had made to each other. They had talked about settling down after the war, about starting a family together.
He had always wanted children, and now, that dream was within reach. But the conditions were unbearable. Yet, as he gazed at her, a smile crept across his face.
He remembered the day they had first confessed their feelings, the way her eyes had lit up when he told her he loved her. He remembered the nights spent talking about their future, the shared hopes and dreams. He recalled the laughter, the shared struggles, and the unbreakable bond they had forged over the years.
Now, as he watched her sleep, he knew he couldn't lose her. He couldn't lose their child. The war had been started by others, and yet they had fought with all their hearts. They didn't have to suffer for it.
In that moment, Bee made his choice. He would protect Yugito and their child, no matter the cost. He would find a way to keep them safe, even if it meant defying his duty to Kumo. They deserved a future together, and he was determined to give it to them.
Bee gently brushed a strand of hair from Yugito's face, his heart swelling with love and resolve. He would stand by her side, as he always had, and together they would find a way through this. They had each other, and that was all they needed.
Moments later, his resolve hardened, he gently shook her, his hand brushing against her cheek.
"Yugito, wake up," he whispered, his voice tender but urgent.
Yugito stirred, blinking sleepily as she slowly came to consciousness. Her eyes met Bee's, and she saw the intensity in his gaze. As she fully woke, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked at him with curiosity.
"Bee? What's wrong?" she asked, her voice thick with sleep but laced with concern.
Bee took a deep breath, his heart racing with the gravity of what he was about to say. "Do you remember the promises we made to each other? About the future we dreamed of, together?"
Yugito nodded, her eyes widening with anticipation as she processed the significance of his words. "Of course I do. What about them?"
Bee's expression softened with love and determination. "I've been thinking a lot about them. I don't want to lose you, Yugito. I don't want to lose our child. I love you too much to choose between you and the country."
Yugito's eyes filled with a mix of worry and hope. "Bee, what are you saying?"
Bee sat up, pulling her into a sitting position next to him. "The war is going south for us. If Kumo falls, I don't know how Konoha and Suna will treat us. If the Raikage finds out about the pregnancy... I can't bear the thought of what might happen to you or our child."
Yugito's breath caught in her throat, her eyes glistening with tears. "Bee, what are you suggesting?"
"I'm asking you to leave with me," Bee said firmly. "We can head somewhere far away from all this. Start a new life, away from the war, just the three of us. We can build the future we always talked about, together."
Yugito stared at him, stunned by the enormity of the proposal. She took a shaky breath, her emotions raw. "But… what about everyone else? Your brother, Motoi, his wife… what about them?"
Bee's face softened with concern. "I need to make sure they're safe first. But right now, I need you to know that I'm serious. I don't want to face a future where we're torn apart by the very things that should have united us. I want us to be free to live our dreams, not just to survive."
Yugito's tears began to fall freely, her heart aching with the weight of their situation. "Bee, I… I don't know what to say."
Bee reached out, gently wiping away her tears. "You don't have to say anything right now. Just know that I love you more than anything. I want us to have a chance at happiness. Will you come with me? Will you start anew with me?"
Yugito hesitated, her mind racing with fear and uncertainty. But the sincerity in Bee's eyes, the promise of a future together, broke through her fears. Slowly, she nodded, her voice trembling. "Yes, Bee. I'll go with you. I want to be with you and our child."
Bee's face lit up with joy, and he pulled her into a tight embrace. "Thank you, Yugito. I promise we'll make it through this. We'll have the life we've always dreamed of."
They held each other tightly, their hearts swelling with love and relief. Bee leaned in and kissed her, their lips meeting in a tender, passionate embrace. The kiss was a promise, a reaffirmation of their love, and a symbol of their decision to choose each other over everything else.
After they parted, Bee looked at her with a soft smile. "Meet me at my tent tomorrow night. Be prepared. I need to take care of a few things first, but I'll be back to be with you. We'll figure out everything together."
Yugito nodded, a small, hopeful smile on her face. "I'll be there. And Bee, I still want to spend tonight with you."
Bee's heart ached with gratitude. "Of course. Let's make the most of our time together."
They lay back down, curling up together under the blankets. As the night wore on, they spoke softly about their dreams for the future. They talked about where they might go, what kind of life they wanted to build, and what they hoped for their child. Their words were filled with love and hope, a stark contrast to the war raging outside.
In each other's arms, they found solace and strength. They were faced with a difficult choice, but they had chosen each other, and that choice symbolized their enduring love. They knew the path ahead would be fraught with challenges, but for now, they clung to the promise of a future together, away from the shadows of war.
The night was silent, save for the occasional rustle of wind outside Naruto's window. He lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling, his thoughts a tangled mess of disillusionment and guilt.
The events of that morning haunted him—six lives ended in a heartbeat, their faces hidden but their cries etched into his memory. His pocket weighed heavily with the girl's necklace, a painful reminder of the innocence he had been forced to condemn.
Naruto turned restlessly, trying to shake off the heavy thoughts. His earlier confrontation with Hinata had left a lingering discomfort. She had tried to reach out, but he had shut her out, unable to voice the storm raging inside him.
The war had dragged him further into its dark depths, and he hated being part of the occupation force. The more days passed, the more he felt detached from the cause he once believed in.
Suddenly, a familiar voice broke through his troubled thoughts. It was a voice he hadn't heard in a while—Killer Bee's. The tone was unmistakable, filled with a mixture of urgency and calm.
Naruto's eyes shot open, and he found himself in the mental plane he shared with Kurama. The landscape shifted, and in front of him stood Killer Bee and Yugito, dressed in civilian clothes. Gyūki and Maatatabi, their respective tailed beasts, stood behind them.
"Bee? Yugito?" Naruto's voice was filled with disbelief. "What's going on? Why are we communicating like this all of a sudden?"
Bee looked serious but managed a soft smile. "Naruto, there's something we need to discuss. It's important. We come in peace."
Naruto glanced at their casual attire. "Are you two off duty or something?"
Yugito stepped forward, her expression somber. "No, Naruto." She paused, taking a breath to prepare for what she was about to reveal to him.
"We're actually deserting."
The news hit Naruto like a punch. "Deserting? At a time like this? Why?"
Bee's face was grave. "Yugito and I have decided to leave the war behind and start a family. We want a life away from this constant bloodshed."
Naruto's eyes widened in shock. "But why now? This war is at a critical stage."
Yugito looked down, her voice steady but filled with emotion. "It's precisely because of the war. We want to build a future where our child can grow up in peace, away from all this destruction."
Bee nodded. "We're tired of being pawns in this endless conflict. We want something more—a chance to be together as a family. Right now Kumogakure... it's not safe for us, which is why we've made such a crucial decision."
Naruto felt a mix of surprise and concern. "So, why reach out to me now?"
Bee's tone grew serious. "We need your help. Motoi, my brother, and his wife are trying to defect to Konoha with crucial information about a mole within Konoha's ranks—Mizuki."
"Mizuki?" Naruto's eyes narrowed. "I've heard that name before. He's usually around my father's place."
Yugito stepped closer, her voice urgent. "Yes. Mizuki has been providing intel to Kumo, helping us exploit Konoha's vulnerabilities. As part of ANBU I've personally worked with him on several occasions."
She hesitated, but pressed on. "Infact, Mizuki was instrumental in your kidnapping several years ago. We need to expose him."
Naruto's anger flared, but he kept his voice steady. "So, Mizuki was behind that? I should have known."
Bee placed a reassuring hand on Naruto's shoulder. "That's why we need your help. Motoi is going to use his status as my brother to defect with high-value information. He will also provide you with top secret information about Kumo's ANBU operations to be carried out soon. We need to make sure he and his wife are safe and that the information gets to Konoha."
Naruto's curiosity piqued. "And what is this, top secret ANBU stuff?"
"To set off gas bombs inside Konohagakure itself," Yugito spat. "The Raikage wants my squad to gas innocent civilians in their homes. I don't want to do that. Fuck that."
Naruto's fists clenched in anger. "That bastard..."
"Don't get me wrong, I still despise your country for all it's done, Naruto," she continued. "But I don't see how massacring innocent people in Konoha is going to help me liberate Yamashi for example."
"It's one of the things that's made us want to leave everything behind, little man." Bee chipped in. "War sucks, but now we have a choice to not contribute to it anymore, and we're taking it."
Naruto nodded in understanding. "So what about your hometown, Yugito?"
Yugito sighed, rubbing her arm. "Konoha has already... integrated the town into itself. The people currently living in Yamashi are settlers from your country, my people have mostly fled or relocated. You get what I'm saying right?"
"So liberating Yamashi will be just like... conquering any other settlement." Naruto nodded, the realization weighing heavily on him. "That sucks, I can't lie."
"You can blame your old man for that." Bee spoke. "He's the one that formally annexed Yamashi...among other things he did."
Naruto raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Other things? Like what?"
Yugito's expression was one of confusion as she spoke. "Naruto, don't you know the kind of man Minato is?"
Naruto shook his head, genuinely clueless.
"He's a grade A piece of shit for one." Bee chipped in. "And I'm not just saying it because he's considered an enemy. I mean no offense but your Dad sucks, little man."
Naruto stood across from Killer Bee and Yugito, confusion etched on his face.
Bee crossed his arms, his usual playful demeanor replaced with something heavier. "Look, Naruto, you gotta understand somethin'. Your pops, Minato, he ain't who you think. He's got a thing against folks like us from Kumo. People like me, we get pushed out or worse."
Naruto frowned, fists clenched. "What? My dad wouldn't do that. He's the Hokage, he's supposed to protect people."
Yugito stepped forward, her voice calm but cold. "No, Naruto. Minato leaves... 'desirable' people from Kumo alone. He claims they're originally from Konoha, tries to 'bring them back,' while purging others. Towns Konoha conquers? He filters them."
Naruto's eyes widened, his heart sinking as he searched their faces for any sign of a joke. "That can't be true..."
Bee shook his head slowly, his gaze unflinching. "Believe it, man. That's how it goes. Your dad's war isn't just about land, it's about removing people like us from places he doesn't feel we belong to."
Naruto took a deep breath, trying to process what he was hearing. "I... Alright, I'll help Motoi and his wife defect. I'll try to inform command that I have a high value prisoner. Even with everything, I still consider you a friend, Bee."
Bee's face brightened with gratitude. "Thanks, Naruto. It means a lot."
Yugito's expression softened as she approached. "Naruto, I want to thank you for what you did in Kaminosato. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have known I was pregnant till much later. Your actions that night mean everything to me."
Naruto's mood lightened slightly. "I was just returning the favor. You and Bee spared me and Gaara when you could have ended us. I'm glad I could help."
Bee chuckled, his tone lightening. "Yeah, I remember that night. It was a tough decision, but it turned out to be the right one."
Yugito's eyes narrowed playfully. "Actually, it was mostly Bee's idea to spare you. I was perfectly okay with blowing you up."
Naruto laughed, the tension easing. "I guess I owe Bee a big thank you then."
Bee nudged Yugito with a grin. "See? I told you it was the right choice."
Yugito rolled her eyes but smiled. "Fine, fine. You were right."
Naruto's expression grew serious again. "I never got to do this, but I want to thank you both for everything you've done for me. From soaring my life to the training sessions despite our hostility, it's regrettable that we had to be enemies, but those battles against you were some of my most memorable moments."
"Same here," Yugito admitted with a smile."What's the score line by the way, i think it's like 6-1, no?"
"I guess so," Naruto laughed. "Although I'm always open if you want to do something about it."
Bee's eyes softened. "You've come a long way, Naruto. I'm glad we could share those experiences, even if they were tough."
Yugito's gaze was warm. "We're grateful for everything too. You've shown us what it means to be a true shinobi. We're proud of you."
Naruto nodded, his voice sincere. "I'll never forget either of you. Congratulations on your new beginning. I wish you both a happy life together. You deserve it."
He paused, then with a playful grin, addressed Gyūki and Maatatabi. "Hey Kitty cat, Octo...whatever you are."
"What's the issue?"Gyūki asked, lowering his head.
"I was wondering, if you two are siblings and your Jinchurikis are together, does that mean you two are technically...you know...very 'close' siblings?"
Kurama let out an exasperated sigh, while Maatatabi replied calmly."No, Naruto. That's not how it works."
Killer Bee burst into laughter while Yugito could only facepalm in embarrassment. Bee managed to say between laughs, "You always have a unique way of looking at things, Naruto."
Yugito walked up to Naruto carefully, and before he could react, pulled him into a warm embrace, which he returned. As she released him, she had a proud expression. "You're a great shinobi, Naruto. You've surpassed even your masters. And don't forget, I taught you some of that."
Bee cleared his throat and nudged Yugito, prompting her to awkwardly continue. "Well, I'm also supposed to apologize for...kidnapping you that day apparently. But hey, I was just following orders."
Naruto laughed, the weight of the day lifting slightly. "I get it. No hard feelings."
He scratched the back of his head awkwardly, choosing his words. "I'm also sorry for... making fun of your hometown's occupation, I guess it was pretty insensitive."
Yugito smiled slightly, waving it off. "Heat of the moment and all that, I was an asshole and I know it. I don't regret it either, tree-fucker." she added, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"I never liked ya, you know?" Naruto replied, although this time, her insults didn't exactly cause him to feel anger.
Bee gave Naruto a final fist bump. "It's been good, Naruto. We'll keep in touch. We can always communicate through the mind plane."
"I'll be looking forward to it." Naruto smiled. "And don't go naming the kid after me, I wouldn't like that."
"We'll take note," Yugito responded with a warm smile, "Goodbye for now, Naruto. We'll never forget you."
Naruto stood with a smile, watching the two of them.
"Bee-sensei, Yugito-sensei...take care."
As Bee and Yugito faded from view, Naruto found himself back in his bed. He lay there, a mix of happiness and sadness swirling inside him.
The exchange with Bee and Yugito had been sudden, but it was also one of the most meaningful conversations he'd had in a long time. It had given him a glimmer of hope and a renewed sense of connection in the midst of the war's darkness.
