Chapter 1 A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes

One beautiful morning in France, the sun was rising into the sky over the once beautiful chateau. Two blue jays flew up to the tallest tower, where their mistress now resides, and pulled apart the curtains to allow the sunlight to enter.

CinderSydney was asleep in her bed and was not awoken by the sunshine streaming in her bedroom.

The birds flew over to a post on the back of her bed. The male bird chirped to wake her, but the girl turned over in her sleep with her arms beneath her pillow, moaning.

They flew over with the male bird lifting up a strand of her hair, and the female bird chirped in her ear, "CinderSydney, wake up."

The birds flew up as the girl turned over yawning, clutching her pillow and laid on her bed, with her rear up, covering her head. The female bird stayed on the rear, and the male bird on the pillow.

The two had no idea how to wake up CinderSydney, and they tweeted together and came up with an idea. The male bird suggested his mate go down to the gap in the pillow. The second bird landed near the pillow and entered the gap, chirping, "Wake up, wake up."

CinderSydney giggled and pulled the pillow down. The bird escaped and flew to the bedpost and, peering behind, surprised.

The male bird stood on the pillow chirping the girl's name, and a hand snuck up from behind him, with fingers walking like legs, and touched his feathers. The bird jumped up and tweeted a fit, and flew over to his mate, who just giggled.

CinderSydney sat up laughing at her joke on the birds. She has indeed grown into a very beautiful girl of sixteen with a full face with freckles, long golden brown hair with a blue bow in the back, blue-gray eyes, long eyelashes, thick eyebrows, pale skin, and dressed in a blue nightgown with a white ribbon.

"Well, serves you right, spoiling people's best dreams," She said, chuckling.

The birds chirped and flew towards the window with the palace and clock tower in the distance. The female pointed to the sky, and the male on his toes beating his chest and looked in the distance. They commented on the beautiful morning.

"Yes, I know it's a lovely morning," CinderSydney said with a smile. "But it was a lovely dream, too."

She gave a sigh of content as the birds landed on her knees, as they were curious to know what dream CinderSydney had and tweeted to her.

"What kind of dream?" CinderSydney asked, understanding the birds.

The birds tweeted, 'yes'.

"Uh-uh. Can't tell," The brunette said, smirking.

The two birds looked at each other, disappointed. They turned to her and asked, "Why?"

"Cause if you tell a wish, it won't come true," She said as she undid the bow in her hair. "And after all…"

As she undid the bow in her hair, CinderSydney sang a sweet tune, causing the birds to sigh in content and sat down. They were soothed by her sweet and beautiful voice.

"A dream is a wish your heart makes,
When you're fast asleep…"

Outside from her window, the birds came out from their nests and corners to fly towards the window to greet the girl. Two brown birds landed on the windowsill, two blue birds on the bedpost and another two by a cabinet.

"In dreams, you will lose your heartaches,
Whatever you wish for you keep…"

A red cardinal smiled and tried to sing, but was shushed by a blue bird, glaring at him and covering his beak, and smiled back at CinderSydney. The cardinal flew over to the bedpost next to CinderSydney and tweeted, singing a sweet tune, before flying away. The girl continued to sing as she grabbed her hairbrush and brushed out her long hair.

"Have faith in your dreams and someday,
Your rainbow will come smiling through…"

The blue bird looked over towards his companion giving him a look. The blue bird gave a shrug and they continued to watch and hear CinderSydney singing.

Just then, a slender brown mouse appeared from a hole in the cabinet, pulling on his brown coat that dragged on the floor. The mouse wore a white shirt, a brown vest, a green necktie, and black shoes with spats. He was Basil of Baker Street. He smiled dreamily hearing the girl singing.

Inside the cabinet was another white mouse in blue nightclothes, Gabriel. He sat up from his feather bed, licking his hand and pulling strands of his hair back. Gabriel looked over at his tail tied in a knot. His eyes widened and began untying his tail, while glaring.

"No matter how your heart is grieving,
If you keep on believing,"

Basil climbed up to the top of the bedpost and stood up near CinderSydney. She sang and pointed her finger warmly at him. The mouse smiled and sat down, content with his paws on his face.

"The dream that you wish,
Will come true."

At the middle of the foot of the bed was a white mouse with long blonde hair, blue eyes, wearing a yellow dress with gloves, had her two sons, Antonio and Tobias sitting with her, as Marcella held Tobias by the tail and set him down.

All of the mice and birds were filled with content to hear CindereSydney's singing, but suddenly, it was interrupted by the sound of the clock tower from the palace.

They all jumped at the loud bong.

"Oh, that clock!" CinderSydney grunted. "Old killjoy!"

Her feet reached into her slippers and walked over to the window, holding her pillow, yelling at the clock. "I hear you. 'Come on, get up!' you say. Time to start another day!"

The brunette turned back to the mice and birds, and said, "Even he orders me around."

Marcella frowned at the thought of that, placing her hands on her hips. Antonio and Tobias even glared as well.

"Well, there's one thing," CinderSydney continued. "They can't order me to stop dreaming."

Basil smiled, looking up at the girl with his face on his hands.

The brunette hugged her pillow as Olivier landed on it, and she said, "And perhaps someday..."

Then she sang, as Marcella hugged her sons who were both smiling again.

"The dreams that I wish,
Will come true."

CinderSydney then began to dance and sing around her bedroom, and vocalized throwing her pillow on the bed. She tossed up her blanket, and the blue jays caught it and they smoothed the blanket. Four red birds jumped on the pillow and pulled on the four corners to smooth it out. The golden brunette spun around, pulling off a towel from a hanger and came behind the dressing screen, hanging her towel.

All of the male mice had to exit the room to give CinderSydney some privacy. A small female mouse with long brown hair, brown eyes, tan fur, and a blue dress and white apron named Veronica Flaversham ordered Fidget, a peg-legged bat, and her cousins to leave as they crawled underneath the door. Her younger sister Olivia followed them out.

"Shoo! Shoo! Hurry!" She said, and Basil came by and headed under the door. "Come on, Basil. Shoo!"

As the brunette continued to vocalize, four female mice, Magnolia, Madeleine, Mariette, and Marian poured a large pitcher of water into a bowl. Two blue birds held up a sponge and dropped it into the bowl making a big splash. They flew down to pick it up with their talons, but struggled as the water made the sponge heavy for them to lift. More birds came and helped lift up the sponge with another one holding the bottom.

CinderSydney threw off her nightgown with her hair up in a bun. Two yellow birds then caught her nightgown and flew away. The birds holding the sponge twisted it to splash the water on her back to clean her up and she sang underneath the water, and the bird underneath got soaked and mad at the same time.

In the meantime, the birds hung up CinderSydney's nightgown on the hanger. Next to the nightgown were CinderSydney's servant dress and apron. The servant dress had aquamarine sleeves, a dark brown bodice, and a light brown knee length skirt.

Two more blue birds carried the girl's servant dress over to her vanity and laid it out on her chair. The birds, who hanged up the nightgown, picked up the apron and followed the other birds to the chair, where the servant dress was laid out.

On the vanity, a white mouse named Miss Kitty was pulling out a blue ribbon, singing a tune, and her two twin sisters in pink dresses smoothed out the ribbon singing along.

On the chair, two female mice were sewing the sleeves and dusting the dress with a feather. On the skirt and apron was a plump mouse dressed in a maid's outfit named Mrs. Judson, and was brushing the apron with her feather and vocalized.

On the floor, two more mice were polishing CinderSydney's black flats with a rag and sang along.

They finished their task as the brunette approached and helped slip her flats on her feet. They picked up the rag and finished the last polish. CinderSydney was dressed in her servant dress, and held her arms out as the blue jays flew over and tied the apron around her waist.

CinderSydney continued singing as she pulled the apron tighter, and sat in her chair in front of her vanity. The blue jays picked up the ribbon in their beaks, and flew up, giving the girl the ribbon as she tied her long hair into a ponytail and held onto the final note.

"No matter how your heart is grieving,
If you keep on believing,
The dream that you wish,
Will come true."
