I don't own Star Wars or its characters, but Nadia Aomori and my other OCs I own only.
Enjoy!
Fire of the Rebellion
Chapter 10: Family Time
(8 BBY)
Aurea was a diverse planet with mid-sized landmasses of differing makeups surrounded by large deep blue oceans.
Most continents have a tropical climate with some being more temperate. Vast deserts of shifting sand dunes dominate others such as the largest northern continent with Shakamm Crater and Crysallia, though these tend to have tropical coastlines.
Another smaller northern continent holds the famous Carmine Peaks of Aurea which was where the planet's few mining operations tend to be here. In addition, the planet's close star meant a warm humid climate in most regions with small polar icecaps.
However, no matter the biome or geology, all of Aurea can be described by one word: vibrant. The shallow seas shimmer with brilliant turquoise while the ocean depths appear a rich majestic blue.
The desert sands reflect the sun's light in a rippling golden hue and the tropical forests cover vast swaths of land in a million shades of lush green. Whatever the quirks of Aurea's climate and geology, the planet appeared an iridescent jewel from space and just as beautiful on the ground.
The Shakamm Crater remains one of the planet's most important locations. It measured over 10 kilometers across. The Mardri arcology perches on the northwest lip of the crater. Extremely limited mining operations extract the burning crystals for use by the artisans of the Soulworks Collective and those they have approved for special projects. Though these crystals were forged with the same sands that now prove such a staple in Aurean art and culture, the unique nature of their forging (in the fury of a titanic meteor impact) meant no one has been able to duplicate them.
In the beach resort of Aurea, both Ferus and Nadia were relaxing in their own beach chairs.
Ferus wore dark orange swimming shorts. He had a quite muscular physique due to his Jedi training.
Nadia wore a pale lavender bathing suit with sheer panels paired with small gold earrings. Her raven black hair was now wavy and stopped to where her shoulders were. There were lavender sunglasses that covered her eyes.
Not far from where they were, Zachary and Gwendolyn were playing in the sand together.
Zachary wore dark blue swimming shorts.
Gwendolyn wore a pink one-piece swimming suit with a white ribbon that went all the way around her waist. Her chestnut brown hair was styled in a braided ponytail.
Nadia sighed softly as she picked up the fruit shake in the small table tray attached on the right side of her beach chair.
The sun beamed down on her, gently and the masterfully plotted buildings across the beach resort aided air flow, bringing gentle breezes here and there.
It was blissful.
The Olin Family knew the Empire was still in power, but that didn't clearly meant to the two Jedi Knights that they couldn't have some time to enjoy themselves with their children as a family.
Nadia quietly slurped her Blurrgfire beverage; a classic non-alcoholic mixed drink with its flavour imitated juice from a citrom, a fruit that did not stay fresh for long, but was both sweet and sour with a burst of heat.
Ferus let out a small chuckle.
"This is nice, hun."Ferus declared.
"Yes. It is."Nadia stated."We may be among the most wanted in the galaxy, but that doesn't mean we can't be a family in a few days or so."
"Right."Ferus answered with a nod.
Crevasse City was a city in Alderaan located in a canyon.
It had no spaceport, but public transportation linked the city with Aldera which handled all the city's space traffic. The city boasted creature comforts of all kinds, including restaurants, bars and parks and by reputation had the best hotels on the planet.
The city was constructed downwards, meaning the oldest buildings were on the surface, with newer facilities being built lower into the crevasse. The lowest levels of the crevasse remained untouched throughout Alderaan's history and featured a maze of caverns containing beautiful crystal formations, hot springs and underground lakes.
The surface of Crevasse City received no more than six hours of sunlight a day and the city streets and hallways were filled with artificial lighting built into the architecture in various artistic and clever forms. The colours of the lights took on unique meanings: white for death and mourning, blue for happiness, green for love, silver for prosperity and orange for danger or warning.
Hidden in a far corner of the city lay its industrial section. Crevasse City was powered by geothermal power plants. It was also the home of one of Alderaan's only mining operations and the Crevasse City Collegium for Young Ladies.
Among the citizens exploring the area was Maybelline Horn.
Maybelline was now an attractive 17 year old girl. Her long sandy brown hair was tied with a dark pink ribbon. She wore a dark pink dress with an asymmetrical skirt and pink gladiator-style heels.
On her hands were a set of light blue and red shopping bags.
"Alderaan is such a peaceful planet. No weapons and utterly peaceful."Maybelline complemented."I can't really imagine anyone hating this planet."
Then a frown appeared on Maybelline.
"Except the Empire that is."Maybelline muttered.
Maybelline made her way to the public transport that was take her back to Aldera.
Since escaping the Jedi Purge, Maybelline got used to living a life in Alderaan and being Princess Leia's handmaiden.
Though looking after the Princess of Alderaan was not an easy task.
Winter possessed a natural grace and poise that often led court visitors to mistake her for the Princess of Alderaan, while the tomboy Leia was regarded as a domestic girl.
Princess Leia's lack of upper-class gentility remained a constant source of despair to her aunts Tia, Rouge, and Celly, who were nevertheless determined to turn her into what they called 'a Proper Princess' and hired deportment teachers to drill into her manners fitting for the heir of an Ancient House.
However, Maybelline was like an older sister figure to Leia and Winter.
She helped the two girls with the homework assignments they got from the prestigious Alderaan Select Academy for Young Ladies.
Leia also began training with Maybelline to teach her self-defence and marksmanship. True to her tomboyish nature, she enjoyed these lessons far more than those of Madame Vesta and showed considerable talent in both areas.
Once the public transport arrived back to Aldera City, Maybelline stepped out alongside a couple of civilians.
The young woman made her way to the building that belonged to House Renar.
"Even though you lied to me about Anakin's survival, I can't help but wonder what you're doing right now, big sister."Maybelline thought with a sad frown."I miss you a lot."
In space, the Action VI Transport jumped out from hyperspace and arrived to the planet known as Bogano.
Zachary and Gwendolyn sat together and both looked at the planet with confused expressions.
"Mother, what planet is that?"Zachary questioned.
"That's Bogano, Zack."Nadia responded."A largely unexplored world due to the fact that it's missing from most modern maps."
"So the Empire doesn't know this planet exists?"Gwendolyn assumed.
"You can say that, sweetheart."Ferus answered."As a matter of fact, I heard from a friend that a Jedi Master named Eno Cordova actually came here. But we might as well see for ourselves."
Gwendolyn's eyes sparked in delight.
"Cool."Gwendolyn chuckled.
Soon the Action VI Transport arrived to Bogano's atmosphere and arrived on the planet.
When the ramp of the freighter opened, Nadia and Ferus stepped out followed by Zachary, Gwendolyn and RG-G1.
Bogano was a generally uninhabited world and its nature was in turn relatively untouched. The world was primarily comprised of flat, grassy plains, broken up by massive ravines and sinkholes made of limestone and clay.
There were also water-filled cavesbeneath the thin surface layer.
The Olin Family stared at their surroundings in awe.
"It's so peaceful."Zachary murmured.
Zachary made his boots touch the grassy plains, feeling the ground a bit soggy.
RG-G1 let out a beep as he strolled forward to scan around the planet.
Gwendolyn giggled when she caught sight of para fishes popping out from the water before going back down again.
"Hopping fishes."Gwendolyn praised.
Both Nadia and Ferus noticed the fractured plain was broken up by chasms and cliffsides.
"We should be careful while we're here."Nadia instructed with a small frown."Bogano may look like a safe place for a base, but there could likely be carnivorous species on this planet."
"Yes, mum."Zachary and Gwendolyn answered in unison.
RG-G1 show a holo-image of an abandoned workshop to his companions.
"You found something, G-G?"Ferus suggested.
RG-G1 let out a beep.
"There's a workshop located somewhere here in the limestone geology of the planet?"Nadia commented."Then let's go find it."
RG-G1 beeped as he began leading the Olin Family to their destination.
Both Ferus and Nadia quickly activated her lightsabers to slash down the small group of splox that attempted to attack their family.
"Ew."Gwendolyn retorted in disgust."Those some big bugs."
"Just be sure to slash them down in half, if any of you ever come across them in the future."Ferus instructed."The splox are known to immediately attack their prey."
"And they're non-sentient insect too?"Zachary guessed.
Nadia nodded. "Exactly."
RG-G1 went over to a door entrance and beeped to his companions.
"This must be the entrance to the workshop."Nadia replied and noticed the controller was damaged."In that case…"
Nadia used her Force Judgement to spray electric bolts of variable intensity from the hands and fingers on the controller causing the entrance to open up.
Ferus smirked at his wife's action while Zachary and Gwendolyn were amazed at what their mother just did.
Nadia, Ferus, Zachary, Gwendolyn and RG-G1 headed inside the entrance.
The Olin Family and their droid soon arrived inside an abandoned workshop.
The workshop consisted of two levels.
The lower level had a large, circular entrance from the Great Divide and it consisted of a massive pool of water with only one small limestone island and pillar within.
Also inside the pool were lights that were installed by Master Cordova. One of the islands stood tall and had vines on the side which could be used to climb up to the base of the workshop's staircase. Behind the pillar, four lamps hung off the natural walls.
The second level was accessible down a long hall leading further up the staircase.
A circular room with seven lamps, it contained the tools and items Master Cordova had used and collected with Zeffo statues, pottery and glyphs scattered about. The room contained a lightsaber workbench as well as another table on which laid the Jedi Master's repair kit and sketches. At the top of the stairs was a door that led out to the surface.
The workshop also contained water filtration systems, dehumidifying fans and mechanical slits to maintain the structure's internal climate.
"This must've been Master Cordova's repair kit."Ferus assumed."He hoped someone would pick up his trail."
Nadia closed her eyes to connect with the Force.
The raven haired woman felt that someone had been here.
Someone familiar.
"I sensed someone had already been here before us."Nadia murmured firmly."I feel…I know this person."
"Do you know who, hun?"Ferus questioned.
Nadia shook her head.
"No."Nadia replied."But the person's presence feels…familiar to me."
RG-G1 let out a beep as he went to deactivated the dehumidifying fans, so that his companions can explore in the workshop.
Both Zachary and Gwendolyn then made their way to the workbench causing them to become excited to see various items that were needed to create a lightsaber.
"Oh my stars! Mum! Dad! Come see!"Gwendolyn squealed in delight."These are all items to create a lightsaber!"
Both Ferus and Nadia made their way to where their children were and became surprised at the items they saw on the workbench.
"You're right, Gwen."Ferus remarked."These are all the things that a Jedi would use to make their own blade."
"I am surprisingly impressed how Master Cordova prepared his workshop even after the Jedi Purge."Nadia stated bluntly."He must've planned to rebuilt the Jedi Order here."
Zachary noticed a couple of scrolls on the workbench as well and slowly opened one up to read what was in it.
"This is must be the Jedi Code of the Republic. There is no emotion; there is peace."Zachary read."There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. There is no passion; there is serenity. There is no chaos; there is harmony. There is no death; there is the Force."
Nadia suddenly scowled in annoyance as she rolled her eyes at hearing the usual five precepts of the Jedi Code.
"Are you okay, mother?"Gwendolyn questioned.
"I'm fine, Gwen."Nadia replied as she rubbed her forehead."Just hearing that wretched Jedi Code again gives me a massive headache."
RG-G1 beeped silently as he followed Nadia out of the circular room.
Zachary and Gwendolyn brought their attention on Ferus.
"I sense mother's anger rising, father."Zachary commented."Did something happen?"
Ferus sighed as he glanced at Zachary and Gwendolyn.
"You see, Zack and Gwen, the code of conduct that established rules and modes of behaviour for all Jedi back in Coruscant was not really the best example to follow."Ferus explained as he folded his arms."As a matter of fact, most of the Jedi including the Jedi Council that followed this code made them do more harm than good."
"How so, daddy?"Gwendolyn questioned.
"This Jedi Code made them have no emotions and they believed having attachments would lead them to the Dark Side."Ferus admitted.
This caused both Zachary and Gwendolyn to frown in disapproval.
"Seriously?"Gwendolyn retorted.
"That's a stupid belief."Zachary admitted.
"Exactly!"
Ferus, Zachary and Gwendolyn went out of the circular room to see Nadia stab a bog rat dead with her orange blade.
"We are not emotionless machines. Of course Jedi feel. It's human of us. Besides, a Jedi is encouraged to love. Just not the way of a love. A possessive love that will give you hope and happiness."Nadia declared as she swiftly kicked the corpse off the pest she killed and glancing at her family."The other reason I never got along with the Jedi Council beside being Darth Nihilus' descendant because I followed a completely different Jedi Code than they do."
Nadia deactivated her orange lightsaber and placed it back on her belt.
"Back in Corellia, the Jedi were permitting marriages among their ranks, long legacies and bloodlines."Nadia admitted."So, we were doing just fine. And that is why I have green in the meditating room back in our apartment. I have green in honour of the old Corellian flag. There is nothing wrong with having emotions."
Ferus, Zachary and Gwendolyn went up to Nadia and RG-G1.
"What was the Jedi Code of the Green Jedi, mother?"Zachary asked.
Nadia lowered down her anger before telling her two children the Jedi Code of the Corellian Jedi.
"Control your emotions, To find peace."Nadia admitted firmly."End ignorance, By seeking knowledge. Righteous passion, provides serenity. Anger leads to chaos, But true love is harmony. There is no death, There is the Force."
"Whoa."Zachary murmured.
"That sounds way better than that lame Jedi Code."Gwendolyn admitted.
"Of course. It sounds better. This ancient Jedi Code back in Coruscant was like a contiguous disease."Nadia complemented with a stern tone."There is nothing wrong with having happiness in your life which the Jedi Council lacked to understand. Luckily in Corellia, the Green Jedi like myself had our lives right."
"Dia…"Ferus started.
Nadia frowned at Ferus.
"It's the truth, Ferus. No point trying to hide it anymore."Nadia declared and then glanced at her two children."And here's another thing how the Jedi Order in Coruscant was so corrupted. Since the Jedi Council didn't really express any emotions, they didn't really trust or value the friendships of those below their ranks. And here's an example. One day, there's was a bombing in the hangar of the Jedi Temple and Ahsoka was framed by the one responsible for causing that incident. Even though she was one of the very people that fought in many battles for the Jedi Order, the Jedi Council expelled her and were ready to put her death without having any second thoughts."
Both Zachary and Gwendolyn became equally shocked at what their mother just told them.
"What?!"Gwendolyn gasped in disbelief."The Jedi Council were going to put Aunt Soka to death?!"
"I can't believe it."Zachary scowled with a disgusted glare.
"Luckily, me and your Uncle Anakin found the real culprit responsible of the Jedi Temple's bombing and were outraged to know it was a fellow Jedi Knight known as Barriss Offee."Nadia admitted."But even after Ahsoka was proved to be innocent, she refused to rejoin the Jedi Order and decided to leave."
A sad look appeared on Gwendolyn's face.
"It's awful how the Jedi Council treated Ahsoka after everything she has done for them."Gwendolyn commented.
"They were really self-righteous hypocrites."Zachary added in disappointment.
Nadia nodded in agreement.
RG-G1 let out a soft beep.
A sigh escaped from Ferus' face.
"Yes. What's more tragic that the Jedi Council didn't realise the barrier they created between the people they were trying to protect and that they were all pawns of a war that Darth Sidious constructed to set himself to power from the very beginning."Ferus informed as he looked at his two children."Though me and your mother realised that until it was too late."
Nadia gestured her family and RG-G1 to follow her back to the circular room.
"Which is why we need to make sure after the Sith is defeated that the New Republic will be better than the last one."Nadia exclaimed and picked up an empty scroll to start writing something in it."But it will have a better Jedi Code that will make the next generation of Jedi be seen as true keepers of the peace as well believe in the human spirit. Though first we need our own mark for our rebellion."
Nadia finished her sketch on the scroll before showing it to Ferus, Zachary, Gwendolyn and RG-G1.
It was a symbol of a fierce dragon.
"Our symbol of our resistance group is a dragon, mother?"Gwendolyn asked in amazement.
"Not just any dragon, Gwen. Our dragon will be green."Nadia exclaimed."My late father. Your Grandfather Rostek told me various myths stories about dragons. But the green dragon was my favourite one. The green dragon connects the human spirit with nature and life and focuses on healing, rest, prosperity and harmony. I think it suits us. But what do you guys think?"
"I absolutely love it."Gwendolyn remarked.
Zachary nodded in agreement.
"I do as well, Dia."Ferus agreed with an approved smile."The Order of the Green Dragon sounds perfect."
RG-G1 nodded in agreement.
See you all in the next chapter and have a wonderful day!
