Chapter 32: Smugglers

In space, Nadia sat inside a Delta-7 fighter and fired against a bunch of TIE fighters that attempted to shot down a slaver starship near Komnor.

A grin escaped from the raven haired woman's face as she made her fighter do a wild spin as she fired down four TIE fighters.

"Man, this brings back memories!"Nadia sneered, recalling the space battles she took part during the Clone Wars."I feel like a teenage kid again!"

As Nadia's Delta-7 fighter kept the TIE fighters busy, the Arcturus came to the slaver starship's aid due to having no shield or firepower to protect itself from enemy attacks.

After getting off their seats in the Arcturus' cockpit, Zachary and Gwendolyn made their way inside the slaver starship as the two of them got their lightsabers to defend themselves against the slavers inside the starship.

However, when the Olin twins opened the entry to the slaver starship, the two of them found a group of Wookiee prisoners inside it.

"The Wookiees."Gwendolyn murmured.

"They're okay."Zachary said with a hint of relief before began speaking with the prisoned Wookiees."It's alright! We're here to help!"

"Come with us!"Gwendolyn insisted."Imperial reinforcement is arriving!"

The Wookiee prisoners followed the brother-sister duo out of the slavers starship and into Arcturus.

Ferus made the Arcturus fire the remaining TIE fighters before contacting Nadia.

"The Wookiees are save, Dia!"Ferus declared.

Nadia smiled in approval as she pressed a few buttons on the Delta-7 fighter.

"Great."Nadia praised."Let's get out of here."

The Arcturus and Nadia's Delta-7 fighter then jumped out of hyperspace to escape the clutches of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Flanchard.

As they travelled to hyperspace with the Arcturus, RG-G1 gave Nadia a beep.

"It was a botched slave transfer between a Trandoshan crew and an Imperial commander known as Pter Nyklas."Nadia declared with a frown."Commander Nyklas was to use these Wookiee slaves to construct the Imperial Hall of Heroes which is a monument on Coruscant."

Nadia narrowed her eyes.

"The Empire clearly enjoys slaving those who are weak against them and make them work to make their rule look like some grand utopia."Nadia retorted."Though deep down, this rule is created by a mad man sitting on a throne carved from the corpses of pawns."

RG-G1 let out a soft beep which made Nadia smile a bit.

"We did some good today, G-G. Now we have to focus on getting these Wookiees into a safe place."Nadia remarked and thought suspiciously."At the advice of the Trandoshans, the Empire enslaved the Wookiees for their strength. Wookiee captives were used for countless Imperial projects including the Maw Installation and this…Project Stardust."

Nadia suddenly felt butterflies in her stomach as she thought of the deadly weapon that the Empire was secretly and learned this information from Sierra.

"The Empire is eager to creates many ways of spreading fear throughout the galaxy."Nadia thought."By destroying a planet is far worse."

Nadia then noticed she was getting a contact which earned her attention.

The raven haired woman answered the contact and a small hologram of General Rahm Kota appeared.

"Nadia."General Kota greeted.

"General Kota. It's been a while."Nadia commented with a small smirk."We just rescued a small group of Wookiees from the Empire's clutches."

General Kota let out a sigh.

"It's good to hear that you're fighting to restore the Republic despite everything that has happened."General Kota commented.

"Have you found any news about your former Padawan, Falon Grey?"Nadia questioned.

There was a bit of silence for a moment before General Kota responded to Nadia.

"I learned that he went to Dantooine after the Jedi Purge and I went to look for someone who may knew the whereabouts about my former apprentice."General Kota exclaimed."But I have learned that he was killed a year after the Empire took over."

Nadia gently closed her eyes.

"I am sorry for your loss."Nadia apologised as she gripped the controllers of her Delta-7 fighter."Falon must've been deeply affected by the Jedi Purge, thinking that he should have foreseen it and saved the lives of the many Jedi who had been killed."

The raven haired woman felt a bit sick as she remembered Anakin slaughtering the Jedi in the Temple.

She quickly covered her mouth with her right hand to prevent herself from vomiting, but then became calm and hid her fear.

"Are you alright?"General Kota questioned.

"I am fine, Rahm. Thank you."Nadia answered with a nod."I'll be sure to contact you if anything comes up."

General Kota nodded. "May the Force be with you."

When the hologram of the Jedi General vanished from view, RG-G1 gave Nadia a low beep.

"Yeah, G-G."Nadia replied, slowly trying to get over her past shock."Just some memories can't never be forgotten."

In Coruscant, Han couldn't help but feel utterly relieved as he and his new partner-in-crime, Chewbacca fled from the Galactic City using a shuttle that they stolen.

The 25 year old young man had refused to follow Commander Nyklas's order to skin the helpless Chewbacca.

Shortly afterward, Han and Chewbacca were put to work on the construction of a new wing of the Imperial Hall of Heroes on Coruscant by Wookiee slaves.

An enraged Chewbacca turned on Commander Nyklas, who drew his blaster on the Wookiee.

Han refused to let Chewbacca die, so he stunned his commanding officer and decided to help his new friend escape escape from Coruscant.

Han glanced at Chewbacca.

"So Chewie, want me to take you back to Kashyyyk?"Han suggested.

Chewbacca let out a growl which made Han smirk.

"You prefer to stick with me? Great."Han remarked as he pressed a few buttons."First we just need to get away from here and get ourselves some supplies. I'm Han by the way. Han Solo."

Chewbacca growled while nodding to the smuggler.

The stolen imperial shuttle then jumped into hyperspace.

As he became silent, Han reflected that even without Chewbacca he probably would have left Imperial service anyway due to the ridiculous regulations, incompetent officers and widespread anti-alien prejudice.

He had saved Chewbacca out of remembrance of Dewlanna; the late female Wookiee that had been like a foster mother to him.

His parents, Jonash and Jaina Solo, disappeared early in his life, rendering Han an orphan by the age of seven.

Han could remember that his mother was gentle, smiled, was clean, smelled good, wore pretty clothes, had smooth skin and big dark eyes.

He also had a faint memory that she would dress him up in nice shoes and help fasten them.

Despite the hardships he had been through, Han assumed that his parents didn't willingly abandoned him because of his faint memories of his loving mother.

He believed that he had been kidnapped or that they were killed.

Though Han knew now that he couldn't live in the past.

It couldn't be changed.

He had to focus on the here and now.

Chewbacca let out a growl, earning Han's attention.

"Where are we going?"Han complemented and let out a shrug."We're actually be going to Nar Shaddaa."

This caused Chewbacca to frown in disapproval.

"Oh, chill out. It's not so bad."Han assured confidently."It has the beautiful stench and decay of desperate living, but we won't stay for too long. Promise."

Chewbacca shook his head and growled at Han, agreeing with the young smuggler.

Nar Shaddaa was the largest moon of Nal Hutta.

More commonly known as the Vertical City, the Smugglers' Moon, Little Coruscant or derisively as Little Slugland and was similar to Coruscant in that its surface was entirely overgrown with city sprawl for millennia.

But unlike Coruscant which was only relatively rundown and dangerous on the lower and under levels of the world city, Nar Shaddaa was filthy, polluted and infested with crime everywhere.

Nevertheless, the planet remained the most important financial and trading center of Hutt Space.

Though Chewbacca wondered what exactly he got himself into and yet was eager to know what events were in store for him upon deciding accompanying Han on his journey as a smuggler.
