Fire of the Rebellion

Chapter 34: Mystery of Chopper Base

After putting on her magenta pink robe to cover her dark green t-shirt and grey baggy trousers, Nadia made her way to the kitchen to get a drink due to not being able to sleep.

Nadia frowned as she took a sip of her glass of Corellian ale; a purple sweet flavoured alcohol beverage that had a spiced variety.

Upon returning back to their home safely in Chandrila's capital, Hanna City, Zachary and Gwendolyn didn't waste any time on telling their parents on what occurred in the Lothal Jedi Temple as well as where Master Yoda told Ezra the planet to find.

Malachor V or simply Malachor.

The dark wretched planet which was the birthplace of her ancestor, Darth Nihilus, the Dark Lord of the Sith.

Ferus slowly arrived to the kitchen, but Nadia didn't glance at him.

"Trouble sleeping?"Ferus assumed.

Nadia glanced at her almost empty glass cup to look at her reflection while Ferus went to sit next to her.

"Where Master Yoda wants us to go is bothering me, Ferus."Nadia exclaimed and looked at her husband."Why Malachor above all planets in the galaxy? We were told many times as younglings never to set foot there. Especially, me."

"Maybe he is giving us the opportunity to find a way to defeat the Sith?"Ferus suggested.

Nadia shook her head.

"Malachor is a place in the galaxy where the dark side of the Force runs strong."Nadia declared with a frown."It is something of the Sith, but it was fueled by war. It corrupts all that walks on its surface and drowns them in the power of the dark side. It corrupts all life and it feeds on death."

Ferus placed his hand onto Nadia's to give it a comforting squeeze.

"Before Nihilus became what he was, he was alive at the conclusion of the Mandalorian Wars, a galaxy-wide conflict between the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders and the Galactic Republic. Amidst those battles, he lost everything: his family, friends as well as his will to live."Nadia continued, her voice firm yet soft at the same time."He was on the planet of Malachor V during the final battle of the war when Jedi General Meetra Surik gave the order to activate the Republic's Mass Shadow Generator super weapon. The generator killed almost everyone on the planet's surface and in orbit nearby

Nadia took a deep breath before she continued talking.

"The future Dark Lord survived the super weapon's destruction of the surface and assumed a dark persona while grieving his losses, in part as a means of survival."Nadia admitted as she remembered the fire that killed her family."His emotional pain then manifested as an emptiness that swept over his idle body and it soon began to manifest as an intense hunger. Without intent, he drained the life-force of another survivor. The act was an unpleasant experience for him, but the hunger and his painful memories faded for a brief moment alongside his sickness. Nonetheless, the emptiness returned more relentless and severe than before. He indulged in absorbing the energy of other survivors. But the more he fed, the shorter the hunger was appeased and the more powerful it became."

Ferus gave Nadia a kiss on the forehead while holding his wife's hand tightly.

"We won't let our children go to the mission on Malachor. That's been decided."Ferus replied honestly."But if you don't want to go, Dia, I accept your decision. Every rebel have their own mission."

Nadia's ruby red eyes looked into Ferus' hazel green eyes.

"You know what Kreia said to our children?"Nadia said as a frown crept on her face."The cycle will always be the same. The Jedi and the Sith being in conflict with one another."

Ferus gently pressed his head against Nadia's.

"Though the Jedi of the Old Republic denied love because they understood unconstrained passion is dangerous and had been to many civil wars with the Sith."Ferus exclaimed."But none of them really had the power to see the consequences of their actions or what will happen in the future."

"So all we can do is try and learn to be more better?"Nadia murmured.

"That's right, hun."Ferus teased.

A small chuckle escape from Nadia's mouth, her fears and troubles slowly going out of her mind for a moment.

"You're an adorable dork."Nadia joked with a small smirk."You know that?"

Ferus smirked. "And you're the woman that I'll forever love for the rest of my life."

Nadia and Ferus closed their eyes before sharing a small passionate kiss.

Neither Zachary and Gwendolyn were sleeping.

The Olin twins were awake due to thinking about their parents upcoming mission to Malachor.

Though they shared the same room, the left part contained Zachary's belongings while the right part contained Gwendolyn's belongings.

RG-G1 was in between the Olin twins and was silent since he was fast asleep.

"Say, Zack?"Gwendolyn spoke up.

"Yeah?"Zachary spoke up.

Gwendolyn sat up on her bed.

"Do you think our parents will be okay when they go to Malachor with Aunt Soka, Kanan and Ezra?"Gwendolyn questioned.

Zachary glanced at Gwendolyn.

"Our mum and dad have survived the events of the Clone Wars as well as Order 66, sis."Zachary stated as he turned to sleep the left side of the bed."I'm sure they will be alright when they got to Malachor."

A troubled look appeared on Gwendolyn's face.

"What if Darth Vader or his Inquisitors show up?"Gwendolyn asked.

Zachary let out a scoff upon hearing his younger twin sister being worrisome for their parents.

"Quit thinking of the negative and just be positive, Gwen."Zachary instructed as he closed his eyes."Everything will be alright. You have to believe in yourself that it will."

Zachary drifted into a deep sleep while Gwendolyn simply laid back down on her bed.

"Zack is right. There is nothing to worry about."Gwendolyn thought."I am being worried about nothing. Mum and dad are just going to Malachor for knowledge. But if there is trouble along the way, they'll handle it. They won't be alone."

After removing her worries, Gwendolyn then slowly closed her ruby red eyes and fell into a deep sleep just like her older twin brother.

A few days later, the Arcturus arrived to Atollon.

Atollon was a planet located in an uncharted region in the Lothal sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories, off a major hyperspace route.

The planet had a breathable atmosphere, but a hot climate.

Despite the dry weather on the rocky surface which was covered in plated tree corals and featured a fresh water source deep underground.

The planet had caverns which served as hives to the krykna.

While Ferus was busy having a practice duel with Zachary and Gwendolyn, Nadia made her way over to Ahsoka.

"It's almost time to go, Dia."Ahsoka commented."Are you ready?"

A small smirk appeared on Nadia's face.

"I was born ready for anything, Soka."Nadia answered smugly."You know you asked me that exact same question back when we were going to be sent to Christophsis to become Padawans to Anakin and Obi-Wan."

Ahsoka gave Nadia a fragile smile.

"A lot has changed since then."Ahsoka declared.

Nadia looked down in agreement.

"I know."Nadia answered.

Ahsoka and Nadia then saw a female convor with green white feathers and green eyes flying above them before the small bird landing near a tree coral.

Nadia's eyes widen a bit upon noticing the convor seemed to be strongly resembled the Daughter; the shapeshifting depiction of the Light side of the Force who was part of The Ones, a family of powerful Force wielders on Mortis during the Clone Wars.

"Is that-"Nadia started.

"Morai."Ahsoka answered."She's a friend of mine."

Nadia glanced at Ahsoka.

"But she looks a lot like the Daughter."Nadia complemented.

Ahsoka nodded in agreement.

"She actually has spiritual ties to the Daughter."Ahsoka admitted.

Nadia bit her lip as she remembered the events of Mortis.

Especially, how the Son had almost corrupted Anakin to turn him to the Dark Side.

"I remember the Father telling me that I am a child of both good and evil. But my choices will determine the fates of us all. He said I am blessed and…cursed."Nadia informed."Though he did say to Anakin that he was the Chosen One and destined to bring balance to the Force. Though I clearly remember the Father telling Anakin beware his own heart."

A sad look appeared on Ahsoka's face.

"Will Anakin ever be what he was before?"Ahsoka asked.

"I honestly don't have the answer for that, Soka."Nadia declared honestly."He has caused so much pain and death as Darth Vader. Though Padmé believed before she passed away was that there is still good in him."

Ahsoka folded her arms.

"I often wonder what Luke, Leia and Lisa would think if the three of them ever learned the truth about their father."Ahsoka stated.

"I wonder the same thing."Nadia agreed with a small frown."Though I have a feeling their time to fight against the Empire would come sooner than we realise."

"As long as the triplets are alive, there will be always hope for the galaxy."Ahsoka agreed.

"Would you be happy if they called you, 'Aunt Snips'?"Nadia assumed.

This caused Ahsoka to shook her head.

"No."Ahsoka replied with a hint of sadness."That was Skyguy's name for me. I don't really want anyone else to call me that."

"I understand."Nadia replied.

Nadia suddenly gave a fragile yet bright smile.

"And who knows, Soka?"Nadia chuckled."The stars will shine down on us again."

The two best friends shared a small laugh with each other which was something they haven't done since they were still young teenagers and living in the Jedi Temple in Coruscant.

A while later, Ahsoka and Nadia went over to Ezra, who laid on the ground after failing to connect with krykna by using the Force.

Ezra became surprised to see the two women.

"Ahsoka?"Ezra asked as he stood up from the ground."Nadia?"

Ahsoka and Nadia observed the areas of the rebels' new base.

"I see the base is coming along nicely."Ahsoka declared.

"Yeah."Ezra agreed before pointing to the kryknas who were crawling around not far from where they stood."But these creatures almost ruined it though. No matter what I do, I can't seem to connect with them."

"In our experience, just when you think you understand the Force, you find out how little you actually know."Nadia explained."The ways of the Living Force are beyond our understanding, but was must never fear it."

A sad frown appeared on Ezra's face.

"I don't think I ever understood the Force to begin with."Ezra stated.

Nadia simply smirked lightly at Ezra.

"We should get going."Ahsoka insisted with a smile.

Ezra then followed Ahsoka and Nadia back to the camp, but stopped briefly to gaze at the sensor perimeter and the flora ahead.

As the trio walked away to join Ferus and Kanan, Morai hooted gently while watching them in silence.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

See you all in the next chapter and have a wonderful holiday!
