Prologue.
The stars shone brightly across the night sky, Illuminating the land below with their glow, but even the Shadows could obscure the Dark buildings, And one such building was especially shadowed.
In the Dark hallways, The lights flicked as a Man rushed down the Hall way's Alarms blaring as he sped for his life, He reached the nearby elevator and pressed the Button frantically.
"C'mon, C'mon!" He panicked, he quickly looked back as he heard something thump behind him, He quickly checked and nothing was there, Finally the Elevator bell rang and it's doors opened, The Man rushed inside and tried to press the Buttons inside, But they were slow to respond, As he stood there with the Elevator doors opened he stared out into the Flickering Hallway, His heart beating and his Breathing heavy as he felt a stomp coming through the Hallways, Than a growling noise came from above him and his timidly looked up, As he did so, Something grabbed him and hoisted him up as the Elevator doors closed with his screams!
November 1983, Hawkins Indiana.
Snell Residence.
Carrie woke up with a start! breathing heavily as she looked around, The familiar bedroom she had been sleeping in meeting her gaze as she did, She slipped out of bed, put on her nightgown and went outside to the back porch, She looked up at the stars as she did this, Tempted to take out a pack of cigarettes, She continued to look up at the Stars as she thought and Remembered.
As she did, Sue came out and noticed her.
"Carrie?" She asked. "Why are you up so late?"
Carrie then took notice of her. "Nothing, Just…" She trailed off, Looking back up at the sky. "Thinking about… A Lot of things."
"Come on." Said Sue, Resting a hand on her back. "You can tell me Carrie…"
Carrie looked at Her wife and smiled, ever since she came back from space, Sue had been there for her after she sought her out, They helped each other come to terms with… A Lot, And after a while they had eventually fallen for each other, They had been living together with her son ever since.
"Well… It's not about…" Carrie's eyes widened in awkward realization at what she was about to say. "The prom… It's more like what happened afterwards, A whole long while afterwards."
"You mean with your Mother?" Asked Sue.
"A little more after that." Said Carrie.
"Oh." Said Sue. "You mean, when you went into-"
"Outer space." Finished Carrie. "Yeah and the Jedi, The Clone wars all that Stuff." She thought back to the Jedi, All the teachings they bestowed onto her, All the friends she had found herself, All distant memories now, Most of whom she would probably never see again, All thanks to… their hubris… and Palpatine, Carrie looked to the stars again and then to Sue.
"You're thinking about the Jedi again aren't you?" Asked Sue, As if she knew exactly what was on Carrie's mind.
Carrie sighed. "I just… Every night it's the same, The Clone Wars rage on, We nearly defeat the separatists, And then…" Carrie shuddered as that awful laugh echoed in her head, She then cast their head down and stared off the side of the porch. "I still miss them Sue."
Sue put an arm around Carrie and picked her head up. "Hey… you still have me, And I'm glad you're still alive." She smiled, Carrie smiled back, thinking what the hell she ever did to have this beautiful girl back in her life, She leaned into her and kissed her, she kissed back and the two shared a passionate takeout for what felt like forever, they broke apart and looked lovingly into each other's eyes.
"Hey." Said Carrie, breaking the silence. "Do you know where Tom went?"
"Oh yeah, I think he's having game with his Friends." Said Sue.
Wheeler House.
"Something is coming, Something hungry for blood."
The Boy continued his dark monologue. "A shadow grows on the wall behind you, Swallowing you in darkness."
"Is it almost there?" Asked another boy.
"What is it?" What is it?" asked a third.
"What if it's the Demogorgon?" Asked A chubbier boy. "Oh man we are so screwed if it's the Demogorgon!"
"Oh for god sake it's not the demogorgon shut up!" Said the Fifth boy.
"An army of Troglodytes charge into the chamber!" Cried the boy as he slammed a card on the Table!
"Troglodytes?" Asked the Chubby kid.
"Told you." Chuckled the Fifth boy, Prompting the others to Chuckle too.
Tommy Snell was a spry young boy, With the spitting image of his late father, And the Blonde hair of his Mother, He was dressed in a Black T-shirt, Tan pants and red shoes, He sat around his four friends, Mike, Lucas, Will and Dustin as they played Dungeons and Dragons together in Mikes basement.
"Wait a minute…" Said Mike suddenly, His voice barely above a whisper. "Did you hear that?"
"No." Said Tommy.
"That… that sound." Continued Mike. "Boom… Boom… BOOM!" Mike slammed his hand on the Table. "That didn't come from Troglodytes no… That came from something else."
Everyone watched in suspense, Then without warning, Mike slammed a figure on the Table!
"The Demogorgon!" He declared and the others recoiled in horror!
"Oh god we're in deep shit!" Cried Dustin.
"Will use your action!" Called Tommy.
"What action!?" Cried Will.
"Fireball him!" Called Lucas.
"I'd have to roll a thirteen or higher!" Said Will.
"Too risky, Cast a protection spell." Said Dustin.
"Don't be a pussy! Fireball him!" Said Lucas.
"Use Protection!" Insisted Dustin.
Mike slammed his hands on the Table. "The demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering! It stomps towards you! BOOM!"
"Fireball him!" Cried Lucas!
"BOOM!"
"CAST PROTECTION!"
"HE ROARS IN ANGER!"
Everyone all yelled at once except Tommy, Until Will cried out. "FIRE BALL!"
And he launched the dice which flew right off the table! The boys rose quickly from the table and frantically searched for the pieces.
"Where is it?" Asked Lucas.
"I don't know!" Cried Will.
"Is it a thirteen?!" Asked Dustin.
"I don't know!"
As the boys scrambled for the dice, Mike's mother called for him from the basement. "Mike!"
Mike looked up as he searched the basement stairs. "Mom, we're in the middle of a campaign!"
"You mean the end?" Asked his Mother. "Fifteen after."
She went back to the kitchen as the kids all groaned in anguish while Mike raced after his mother.
"Mom, wait! Just twenty more minutes!" He begged his Mother as she made dinner.
"It's a school night Michael." She said, "I've just put Holly to bed, You can finish next weekend"
"But we're already in the flow." Insisted Mike.
"Michael-"
"I'm serious, mom. The campaign took two weeks to plan." Said Mike. "How was I supposed to know it would take 10 hours?"
"You were playing for 10 hours?" Asked his Mother?
Mike didn't say anything, He just turned to his Father who was currently working on the TV.
"Dad, Don't you think you should-"
"I think you should listen to your Mother." Said his Dad, As he went back to fixing the TV.
Back downstairs, The other boys were still looking for the dice.
"Oh I got it!" Said Will. "Does the seven count?"
"It was a seven?" Asked Lucas.
"Did Mike see it?" Asked Tommy.
Will shook his head no.
"Then it doesn't count." Said Lucas.
And they packed their things and headed up stairs, As Dustin picked up a Pizza box.
"Hey guys." He called. "Anyone want this?"
"No." Said the Three kids.
Dustin Shrugged, As the kids packed up, Tommy noticed Dustin going upstairs with the Pizza box, Knowing what he was intending, He followed him up to the door of a room, where a Teenage girl layed talking to her friend on the phone.
"Yeah, He's cute." It was Nancy, Mike's older sister.
"Hey, Nancy." Said Dustin, getting Nancy's attention. "There's a slice of Pizza left if you want it, sausage and pepperoni.
Nancy didn't seem impressed. "Hold on." She said, As she got up and walked to the door, Giving Dustin a coy Smile as she closed it in his face, Tommy chuckled.
"Dude, You are way too desperate." He laughed.
Later the two boys met the others outside as they got in their bikes to go home.
"Dude there's something wrong with your Sister." Dustin said to Mike.
"What are you talking about?" Asked Mike.
"She's got a stick up her butt." Said Lucas.
"Yeah." Agreed Lucas. "A really big stick."
"God you have no Idea." Said Tommy. "Ever since she started dating that Steve harrington guy, she's turned into a fucking jerk."
"She's always bean a fucking Jerk." Said Mike.
"Nah, She used to be cool." Said Dustin. "Like that time she dressed up as an Elf for our Elder tree campaign."
"Four years ago!" Said Mike.
"Just saying!" Said Dustin as he rode off for home.
"Later." Said Lucas.
And they both cycled off, Leaving Will, Mike and Tommy alone.
"It was a seven." Said Will quietly.
"Huh?"
"The roll, It was a seven." Said Will. "The Demogorgon, It got me."
"Okay…" said Tommy.
"See you guys tomorrow." Said Will as he rode off on his bike.
"You ever get vibes from him?" Asked Tommy.
"What vibes?" Asked Mike.
"I don't know, I gotta go now, My moms will kill me if I'm away for too long." Said Tommy as he strapped on his helmet.. "So, See you tomorrow?"
"Yeah sure." Mike nodded.
Before Tommy left, He added one thing. "By the way, if you're interested in breaking up your sister and that scumbag. Just let me know."
"Oh I am tempted too man." Said Mike.
And with that Tommy rode off after the others, The lights suddenly flickered for a moment, Catching Mike's attention before he shut them off.
Meanwhile,
Tommy, Will, Lucas and Dustin rode their bikes down their road separate ways to home.
"Good night Ladies." Said Lucas as he turned a corner.
"Kiss your mom goodnight for me." Retorted Dustin, He turned to the others. "Hey, Race you back to my place? Winner gets a comic."
"Any comic?" Asked Will.
"Yeah." Said Dustin.
"Nah, I'll pass." Said Tommy.
But Will was up to it, He then got up in his seat and tore down the road in an instant, Leaving Tommy and Dustin in the dust.
"Hey, Hey!" Called Dustin. "I didn't say go!"
Will just raced down the hill on his bike, With Dustin following behind.
"Get back here!" He screamed. "I'm gonna kill you!"
"I'll take your X-Men 134!" Called Will.
And he coasted away, leaving an exhausted Dustin behind with Tommy who had caught up.
"Son of a bitch." Said Dustin.
"You just lost your X-men 134." Said Tommy and he headed off for home.
Meanwhile,
Will roed his way home past a wired fence with warning signs on it, As he continued to cycle along, The lamp on his bike suddenly went out then suddenly turned back on, As it did, A figure suddenly appeared on the road! Will suddenly lost his concentration and swerved off the road! He crashed to the ground and tumbled off his bike, Which laid on its side, its wheel still turning.
Will slowly got up as he saw the figure turn to him in the shadows, Not bothering to get a good look at it, Will got up and High tailed it out of there, He ran along the familiar trail back to his house, The Dog came barking as he locked the door behind him, Will quickly searched the rooms as he looked for his Family!
"Mom?!" He called. "Jonothan?!"
Will found no one home, So he suddenly ran to the nearest window and looked out into the night, Through the Coat Racks, He saw the Figure again, Terrified, Will ran from the window and picked up the nearest Phone, Dialing for a Number, He waited for the call to be picked up. "Hello? Hello?" He called, Nothing but static could be heard, Followed by Animalistic noises that came from another door, A shadow appeared at the tiny window, Prompting the dog to cease it's barking and retreat, suddenly, The chain lock on the door, mysteriously became undone, shocked by this Will quickly fled out of the house and into the tool shed, He closed the door behind him, grabbed the gun hastily loaded it as fast as he could, once it was loaded, He pointed at the door and stood trembling, Prepared for whatever came through it, His breathing hasty, He suddenly heard animal like noises coming from behind him, Will turned around and stared petrified as a shape rose above him, Hellish wails filled the room as the single lightbulb dangling above them, flickered and than…
There was nothing there…
To be continued.
Originally completed on June 31st, 2021, It's been gathering dust ever since, But I wanted to release it before Stranger Things 5 came out, and made updates too.
Don't expect an update anytime soon though, I've got other Projects to work on.
