Author's Note: UPDATE!
So, people were asking too many questions I had zero answers to OR whining about this or that, I eventually got dissatisfied with the organization of my own story and writing. I actually started to dislike this story, it was just stuff a endless story that I wrote when I first started writing for OUAT. Anyway the characters are still all their own as this was ooc from the start. But for my sake I had to do more to reflect my actual skill, and to give more character depth in my opinion. Things won't change too much, but I did try to make it flow better, but there will still be key things that stay as well as some added elements to the story. I hope those who have favorited this story still like it. One of the major changes will be me trying give more to Regina's relationships with Red and Maleficent to various capacities. So for the love of God if you are not into non-monogamous relationships please do not bother reading. Swan Queen will happen and for some time that may be monogamous as Emma's character grows and changes. But there will also be Dragon Queen and Red Queen for sure. Previous warnings still apply about violence, abuse, rape, etc... I will place warnings where appropriate.

Chapter One
"Mom, are we there yet?" Henry whined as the trekked through the Amazon. He normally wouldn't be with her for this, but they had deemed it a low-key enough mission that he could hide up in a tree. And he had been great at all his survival lessons and gun safety and marksmanship classes, that she had agreed he didn't have to stay at Headquarters. "Why couldn't we take the helicopter with Graham?"
"Henry, we get there when we get there, and besides it's best to be unpredictable, they'll be expecting us in the helicopter. Now no more whining, they'll hear you before they see us, even though we assessed it safe, you have to be on guard for any changes." Henry looked serious again and remembered that he had been trusted with a rifle and Graham had given him the job of protecting his mom, the Queen.
"Oh, right I'm your guard!" He exclaimed and then he clamped his mouth shut as Regina stopped walking. She could hear Graham chuckling in her earpiece and assuring her that they were good, he had two men following them no way they were leaving her personal security up to a child even if it was her own child. Regina raised an eyebrow at her son.
"If you're my guard please take my life as seriously as I take yours, yes?" He nodded and gave her a smile that she returned easily. Henry was her light in the darkness, Regina had led a very tough life starting with her mother's expectations and greed. She had grown up in New York City, while living in Brooklyn her mother had spent what was left of her father's fortune on creating a persona of a New York high society family and sold her to the richest bidder when she was only fifteen years old. It had been catastrophic as for five years she had suffered under his hand as he abused her emotionally and physically. She had promised herself never again and those five years gave birth to her escape. She put her hacking skills to use, which had once kept her family afloat and she had hoped would end her mother's ambitions for her. Her father had disapproved as he was a man who worked hard for his family, but it just wasn't enough for the lifestyle her mother wanted.
With her hacking skills she had stolen millions from her husband built an island paradise for one for herself to disappear too in the South Pacific on an uncharted island among French Polynesia. But it hadn't been environmentally friendly, and she didn't want to be stuck in one place all her life. She had spent too much time with having her movements restricted. So, she commissioned an artificial island that would sail the seas. But people change and other people have to die, and she found herself farther down the path of a criminal in order to protect herself.
She had found herself hidden in Brazil while her island became a reality. Lost herself in drugs and booze. Somewhere in all that she realized she was good at killing, good at planning drug deals, and good at making money. But she was not interested in being owned by anyone again either through her drug habits or simply as a lackey. Her mother hadn't raised a follower and she was much too smart to be a drug dealer with a long record. So, while she was handling one last drug deal for someone else simply because it was a favor owed, she had been set on the path that would lead her to her son. Part of her drop was pretending to get lost, thankfully she had already made the drop when she spotted the fire. She was too close to outrun it if it was a forest fire, but she also knew from her map that was the Red Cross Station and thought people might need help. It would only back her story if necessary that she was lost. When she got there the smoke was thick most of the workers were driving off. She saw there were some indigenous people around just trying to keep the fire to the buildings and not the trees. She started to help them when she heard crying in a building with a broken wall. She had gone in without a second thought as she identified as that of a child. She never imagined it was from a child just born. That was how she met Henry, they had been inseparable ever since and his only scar a reminder of scarred skin on his arm.
"Mom?" Henry asked a bit later. She looked back at him. "I have to pee."
"Can you hold it?" She asked him. He shook his head furiously.
"Regina you have movement approaching you," Graham said. Regina pulled out her gun and Henry's eyes went wide thinking she was going to get rid of him, but then they heard voices. He gulped forgot his bladder for now.
"Henry up the tree now," Regina indicated. He nodded and quickly and swung the gun to his back and climbed the tree until he was well hidden but had a good view. He brought his gun back to the front and waited. Two men appeared clearly belonging to the group they were meeting but they froze when they saw Regina's gun pointing at them.
"Now you boys wouldn't be part of an ambush, would you?" She asked them. They shook their heads furiously.
"We just had to pee, we thought you would fly in," The taller of the two cried.
"Lead the way back," Regina said. They nodded. There was no way she was allowing them to walk behind her unseen. They had previously had Henry on a fake frequency where he just heard, all is well, but now they included him to keep him from running into danger. She heard Graham instruct him to move to a specific tree for easy pick up. He obviously didn't listen from the cursing she heard. She resisted the urge to glance back until he was so loud that he exposed one of the two guards following them and himself. The two men turned as well, and her eyes narrowed as she watched their hands and body language.
"I'm guarding the Queen," Henry said resolutely and got out of the man's grip as they were all a little uncertain what would happen next. Henry joined her and stood trying to look all stoic. Regina sighed, there was not much she could do in this moment, she couldn't be mom in front of these men. She nodded to the second guard to stay close, this had not been the plan. Henry was always supposed to remain in the tree.
"Well let's go," Regina snapped. They gulped and hurried forward. They led the way to a clearing where the others were just watching Graham touch down in his helicopter. Graham was one of her first recruits. She had paid retired soldiers to go into war zones and rescue men left for dead. She had scored big as he was British Special Forces sent into a suicide mission apparently. He was angry at his country, he had been severely injured she let him go home where he didn't get all the care that he needed until she had come with all her money, spending time by his side reading or even just talking. They became friends and eventually he too saw her vision of a place where everyone was safe and could explore the world. But that takes money, so they started a private army on U.S. soil. Eventually she let him in on her illegal business, but he hadn't cared, had easily killed for her and become Henry's Uncle Graham.
"Welcome Boys," Regina called out getting their attention as the helicopter left once more and the sound returned to normal. The men turned in surprise having been expecting her on the helicopter but were now facing military men.
"Welcome," The leader replied. His graze shifted between both her and Graham as they waited seemingly patiently for him to show them their money. She also noted that he often tried to see if she would arrive with or without her man, he often failed on that assumption.
"So, where's my money?" Regina asked. This was supposed to be a simple exchange, this month's profits for next month's drugs. He licked his lips as he wiped sweat from his brow, but Regina didn't think it was simply because of this heat.
"I'm short my Queen." Regina sighed as Graham came forward and kicked him to his knees. The rest of his guys were disarmed accordingly and put on their knees as well. Regina made sure Henry was protected by her body not that he noticed that as the second guard insisted, they go check the perimeter. Regina already had extra guys on the perimeter, so they had to get Henry out of the general area.
"You're trying to take me away," Henry insisted. Regina turned and regarded him for a moment, and he gulped.
"If you have issues with your job duties, we will discuss that at a later date for now Mills, you check the perimeter like your superior instructed," Regina growled. Henry's shoulders slumped and he followed the guard away. Regina turned back to the men on their knees in front of her.
"My Queen please," He begged. My Queen was a term that people had started calling her out of respect and fear, when she was given the title of Queen of the Underworld.
"What's going on, you've never been short, you know I take great pains to get you this drug. You're the only seller in all of Columbia, you have a huge network of sellers, I helped you build, and they all send money back to you, which from that I let you keep a generous sum of fifty percent, more than a lot of others around here. And did I mention it takes a lot ensure you are without competition on this issue?" He nodded his head vigorously, but then cried out when he felt Graham point his gun to the back of his head and cock it.
"I'm sorry, it's just Interpol, they've been sniffing around, and I lost a lot of money in raids." Regina sighed.
"Carlos, we've got one too many problems here," Regina said. "First you should have informed us immediately of such raids especially ones as frequent as you seem to describe, Secondly, this meeting should not be happening which leads me to believe that you're a snitch." He gulped hard and shook his head from side to side. "Third, if this meeting was going to happen, why is it that you haven't tapped into your personal funds to pay me? Now do you see how we have one too many problems here Carlos?"
"Yes, my Queen," He cried as she squatted down to look him in the eye.
"So, what you thought you would just short me and still get the product, well that doesn't fly with me and if I need to install someone far more loyal and far smarter than you, I will." He gulped hard. She stood up and looked at the others. "So, which one of you is going to step up and follow orders? I can't imagine that you want to keep working for this idiot who has endangered your lives not only with Interpol, but with me." No one moved. She could see a few were hesitant, unsure if she was serious and that could result in dire consequences later if their current boss lived. "All right let me make it easy." She turned back to the Carlos. "Pendejo shoot yourself in the head, so I can move on, give up your title, if you live you can keep your job working for us, but you've been demoted." Carlos started to practically convulse even as his body seemed to go stiff at the same time.
"No, no please, my…" Regina turned away from him and walked a few feet away. Everyone moved back and gave him a single bullet. Regina carefully shifted on the guards orders, so Henry did not have a clear view like he wanted. She kept her back to Carlos as he pleaded. Graham was watching her back, or she might not have turned it. Eventually the pressure was too much and Carlos managed to pull the trigger, the gun had a silencer, so she only heard the thud of his body and the muted sound of the gun going off.
"Angel, you're it now, don't fuck up like Carlos, you've showed the most promise under his command. If this sack of shit lives, you may help him, but he no longer runs things. As a sign of my faith in you, you will sell all the drugs and return one hundred percent of the profits plus what is owed to me, understand?" Angel nodded and kissed her boots practically. They dragged Carlos's body away to their car and took the drugs from her. She collected her money and the perimeter guards joined them with Henry. They met the helicopter at a second sight before leaving.
"Has the money been counted and confirmed as real?" One of the boys gave Graham a thumbs down.
"The money was thoroughly converted to Euros, but each serial number is registered to Interpol." Regina sighed.
"We should all disappear then, they're too close, they may have been watching us, we dump the helicopter and money. They were flying over the South Pacific, Regina strapped Henry to her front after she explained they were going for a swim. She carried two tanks on her back, it would be enough to sustain them both for their purposes. They all jumped out including the pilots. She barely heard the blast over the roaring wind. A parachute slowed their landing into the water. Henry put on his diving mask and she did the same. As they were hitting the water, she cut the strings on her parachute. They dived down and remained underwater for two hours, when a yacht appeared over them, they swam up to the hole as they were pulled through by soldiers on the other side. They stayed below deck though allowing a pretense from authorities to be handled by those up top pretending to be interested in the wreckage. And there were authorities no surprise there.
"Where to now ma'am?" They asked.
"You men can head home until summoned, I do believe that is safest, as long as you don't betray me. Just remember you work for my private militia." They nodded. She retired to her personal room with her son.
"Mom, you think I can go to a real school while we lay low." Regina didn't answer right away as she stood at the door, arms crossed as she waited for him to turn around. "Mom?" He turned and gulped.
"I think you know what time it is now that we are safe. You put yourself in harm's way. I agreed you could come if you followed orders."
"But you said I was your guard and I had to protect you," He pouted.
"And you did, in the forest, but as soon as the situation changed, and Graham told you to get to safety you did not, and you gave away not only your position but that of Keegan. If there were others you and him could have been shot. You're all my guards you were not the only guard Henry, you also endanger me by endangering yourself, don't you know I would do anything for you, anything at all including taking a bullet?" He sat on the bed frowning at himself as Regina bent down, so she wasn't standing over him in this case.
"I'm sorry mom, I just wanted to protect you good like Graham," Henry told her as tears began to fall. She stroked his head.
"I know my little prince, I know, and thankfully we really did judge this situation to be low risk in terms of getting into a shootout. So, you made your mistakes and if you really want to be like Graham you must learn from them. Learn that when we say retreat that you retreat no questions asked. I don't want anything to happen to you ever, and I had hoped this would be a lesson in why I do not take you to these things. I love you so much and you are my world, Henry."
"I'm sorry mom," He apologized. They hugged and when they separated, Regina gave him a soft smile.
"You know what has to happen now right?" She asked him. He nodded as he stood up. She took his place on the bed and he bent over her lap. Regina delivered eight solid slaps to his bottom to mark his age before she told him she was sorry she had to deliver such a consequence, but he had endangered his life and she had to give him the most severe consequence she could if it meant he never faced the potential consequences of his earlier behavior. They cuddled and he said he understood. Once he was calm again, she remembered what he said about going to school.
"You really want to go to a real school, huh?" Regina asked him as she began stroking his head. His eyes seemed to light up now remembering his earlier words. He sniffled a bit.
"Yes, I really want to make friends," Henry told her. "None of the kids on the island stay long enough or we don't stay long enough." Regina nodded.
"You're right, I will see about an actual school so that maybe more of the residents will bring their children home, so you have a more permanent set of friends. But for now, since we're laying low, we can go anywhere in the world, well that speaks English or Spanish those are you two best languages for learning in and Mandarin I suppose it would certainly get better more quickly if you are immersed."
"Florida!" Henry burst out.
"Florida, really?" Regina asked. He nodded eagerly.
"I was looking for schools that would have high standards and Norman E. Thargard Academy, they have boarders and day students. They focus heavily on math and science," Henry said.
"All right well let me check it out and assess the security risk of getting into America. If it comes back safe, then we'll go." Henry cheered and kissed her.
"Yay, thank you mom."
Please feel free to review, I know I'm going to incite some strong emotions.
