Chapter 2:

Snowy Mountain

Snow.

A never-ending snowfall.

The land was blanketed in snow, and the blizzard continued to pound the fertile land, making it impossible for crops to grow; only pine trees towering over the cliffs of the mountain range were visible all the way across from where they're currently resting.

He was alone, on a reckoning mission, taking notes and marking the tracks he left behind with his chakra.

The Shinobi moved swiftly through the slope, leaping from one ledge to another as he was trying to get a better view of the region.

As the minutes passed into hours, the God of Shinobi arrived at a vast and open field land with dead grass surrounded by withering trees.

Naruto hummed in thought, taking notes on his surroundings and making sure he didn't overlook anything. Then he inspected the ground, checking on the snow and touching the dead grass before proceeding to touch the ground and use his chakra to appraise the situation in greater detail.

The blonde-haired Shinobi sent a chakra pulse the moment his palm touched the earth. as the blue energy bursted out like a flame that melted the snow upon contact, moving downward underneath the soils, into the roots, and cartography the entire region with ease, he took his time reconnecting the lost threads of chakra network beneath the soils and pondered for a moment, realizing that his assumptions were correct.

The land was breathing, alive...but something was anchoring it down, preventing it from thriving.

With nothing but barren snow and fog that obscured his vision, he might as well call this place a zombie wasteland. Some animals were spotted once, twice... But not many, and because it was uncommon, there should be no evidence of civilization striving in this dead region.

Naruto looked behind him and saw that the eternal snow mountain had long buried even his footprints.

What a pity.

He couldn't help but sigh.

His hypothesis was not in vain, as he eventually discovered the source of the corruption.

However, when it was discovered, he developed a frown.

This anchor...it has a strange feeling about it.

What was it again...

He went through his mind, going down each memory lane, looking for the answer to his question. A minute passed, then two, then five, and he finally found the answer.

'Pain chakra rod...?'

It was a memory buried deep within one's mind, nearly forgotten by him... After all, it's been years since that day.

But he was certain of it because, while it was not the chakra rod he remembered, it functioned in the same way despite absorbing a different type of energy.

This...anchor, like the chakra rod itself, was absorbing the life force of this region with no sign of stopping...perhaps until the Land died. When the Shinobi came across another life force, he narrowed his gaze. There were not many, but enough for a small village.

There are people who reside in this region!

His joy was short-lived when he remembered this anchor... and realized that these people won't live long... Perhaps they're patiently awaiting their demise.

He was taken aback, however, when he sensed another life force, pure and heavenly?

Is that even the correct phrase?

Regardless, the life force was weak...

The anchor appears to have absorbed its essence, and it is almost gone.

Naruto stood up and stopped channelling his chakra.

There seemed to be so much he needed to do, he knew and understood all these events had nothing to do with him, so there was no reason for him to intervene and help them, perhaps... All of this is happening because humans did something...and incurred the wrath of the Gods...

He sighed and made a decision.

Throughout the events occurring behind her, we could see Havria sitting alone by a campfire, her eyes focused on the blazing flame, the sound of its crackling a tune to her ears, her hand tending to the fish they had caught earlier today, pouring down the salt with a humming tune, taking her time and enjoying herself with cooking.

Despite this, she noticed that they look very different from the fish she used to see in Liyue.

Naruto assured her that they're edible, not that she was hungry, and that the Gods, unlike mortals in this realm, do not require food... However, eating food allowed her to process her thoughts more clearly and calmly, which was far preferable to simply staring at the blazing campfire all day.

Speaking of Liyue, a day has passed since they left her home, and even from this distance, she could feel the presence of Rex Lapis alongside Guizhong, though their presence is now rather faint in comparison to the day they left.

What baffled her the most was that none of them seemed to notice she was nearby before reaching the land beyond the Liyue region. Perhaps something was preventing them from pinpointing her location...perhaps that something is from Naruto.

The mortal...was an enigma in her eyes, and she was indeed safe from harm, as he had promised.

Even by herself, she was at peace...and safe.

How odd.

She was aware that she was naive, and she despises herself for it.

However, if she ignored her foolishness, she realized that she was glad and relieved to have met him, and that acting as a guide was the only way she could repay his kindness of saving her life.

The mortal...

Naruto possessed God-like powers, but he constantly reminds her that he is just a regular human.

He was naturally kind and wise...

Even Rex Lapis couldn't compete with him when it came to wisdom. She was curious in how he and the Goddess of Sumeru compared, though.

Who would possess greater knowledge and wisdom?

Given that she only knew Naruto's name, it appears rather conceited of her to have chosen Rukkhadevata at this time.

Talking about the other regions, Havria hasn't had the chance to tell him.

But…

"We're not in Liyue region, are we?"

Havria gasped in surprise, startled by his sudden appearance, before frowning when she saw him covered in snow, the freezing region coating the Blonde-haired Shinobi from head to toe. "Do not do that." She scowled in fear, causing him to smirk before noticing her worried expression, "Are you not cold?" She inquired, knowing that even a Goddess like herself, though not as sensitive as the mortal, could feel the cold.

"Cold?" He tilted his head and mused before responding to her question. "Are you?"

Havria nodded, causing the man to hum and take a glance up at the sky.

The sunlight was blocked by thick, and dense nimbostratus clouds, leaving no room for it to reach down the land. Perhaps they were in the worst condition in the region, but these anomalies...were caused by a third party.

"We rest here. Then tomorrow we embark on a journey deeper into the mountain."

That surprised her.

"We're not going back?"

"Do you wish to go back?

Havria winced at the question, shaking her head in response.

Naruto feel sympathy for her and nodded before approaching her and settling down beside her.

"Ah, yes, before that."

Havria was watching as he raised his right hand and summoned the combustion of flames to the atmosphere...?

Whatever it was engulfed the two in a golden dome, the cold emitted from outside completely vanished while the inside became warm, making her feel more at ease. The sudden temperature change causes the blanket of snow around them to melt, revealing the barren ground beneath it and some long-dead animal bones.

"Feels better?"

"Y-yes…" The Goddess of Salt blushed as she hadn't expected that, or how thoughtful he was of her. The silver-haired Goddess then averted her gaze away from him to hide her embarrassment, while her right hand reached down to the fire pit, grabbing the wooden stick and handing him the fish she had prepared for them to eat.

"Here, Naruto." She said, continuing to look away as he smirked.

"Thanks!"

A crunching sound could be heard nearby while they were eating, alerting her, but seeing Naruto was relaxed, she simply calmed herself down and watched as a deer calf took a rest by their side. The deer was covered in powder snow, which melted and drenched the deer as it cleaned itself and stared at them before falling asleep.

"Did you happen to notice?"

Havria has a puzzled expression on her as she observes the deer and gasps in realization.

"That's right, this deer was raised." The shinobi smirked as he nodded.

"Is that why you want to delve deeper?" Havria inquired, causing the Shinobi to ponder for a moment.

It appears she couldn't sense it.

"You could say that, but there's something else I'd like to do."

Havria blinked, puzzled by his answer, but when she noticed him smiling at her, the silver-haired Goddess simply nodded her head in understanding.

"Whatever it is, I will be there to support you."

Naruto was surprised then he chuckled.

How amusing.

She may be wise and mature at some point... But, at the same time, she was too naive and made quick judgments without bothering to look underneath the underneath.

Being with her reminds him of the good old days, when he could do whatever, he wanted, pranking almost everyone in Konoha, taking out missions alongside Team 7, having fun until the sun set with his friends…

He had so many memories, but all he could do was reminiscing the past.

"You know, you shouldn't just blindly trust someone..." Naruto trailed off again, pointing out her weakness, but before she could respond, he continued to finish his sentence with a charming smile that melts her heart. "However, it makes it easier for me to get to know you...which is why I'm glad that's your weakness."

Havria could feel her face heating up and her mouth twitching, but nothing came out.

It was uncommon for someone to compliment her... There were her worshippers, but unlike them he was genuine. The Goddess averted her gaze and stifled a laugh that rang sweetly in his ears, relieved that she had trusted him since the first time she met him.

If fate was not so kind to her, perhaps the future will remember her only as a frail Goddess betrayed by her own people.

"Hey, Naruto..."

"Hmm?"

Havria started to look at him in the eyes for the first time after living for over a thousand years, she could feel the fire building up from within her, capturing her heart of desire as she wants to become a dependable comrade who can stay by his side until the end.

"Please help me become stronger."

Her people betrayed her because of her weakness, and they were right.

What good are all her abilities if she can't use them to fight for and protect the people she cares about and loves?

That day, unbeknownst to her, she fell in love with him.

He was her saviour, and she will eternally be grateful to him.

Her life is his, and he can do whatever he wants with her.

That's why she wants to be able to stand on her own two feet alongside him.

If he can protect her, she wants to become someone who can watches his back.

"Are you sure?" Naruto queried, unconcerned as to why she desired to become stronger. After all, even though she is a Goddess, a genin, the lowest rank in the Shinobi system, could easily take her life.

"I'm certain." Havria agreed with a nod.

"Even if you die along the way?"

"If that happened, then I must be an inept Goddess, right?" She giggled, her voice now vibrant and alive, which even she noticed.

He chuckled and patted her head, ruffling her hair and making her pout.

"There will be no stopping halfway."

"Yes, Sir!" She nodded; her eyes determined.

Naruto could only smile and accept her wish.

"Good, I'll put together a training plan for you... Give it a week or two, and then we can begin your training regimen." Naruto stated, he already has a list of things he wants her to do in his head, but he was curious about her power... Her authority of salt reminds him of a certain red-haired friend; perhaps she could use it to that extend?

There are so many possibilities, but one thing is certain...would she be able to use chakra like him?

The Blonde gave Havria one last look, her chakra network was almost nonexistent, but it's there...

However, the network has not yet been established.

A challenging smile crossed his face.

If everything goes as planned, he will no longer be known as the Last Shinobi.

Perhaps there is still hope.

Even if it was almost nonexistent, he wanted to believe in her.

Just as she trusted him, he should do the same.

Naruto nodded to himself, revising his plan for her training regime while gnawing on the fish with vigour.

It didn't taste as good as ramen, but it satisfied his hunger for the time being.

But for now, his concern is directed somewhere else.

After finishing his meal, the blonde stood up and turned his gaze to the mountain top; he could feel it...the vile energy that corrupted and terraformed this region was coming from up there.

Who could possibly do something like this?

When the Goddess of Salt noticed he was looking at the mountain top, she tilted her head in confusion, curious as to what had captured his attention as she followed his gaze.

"What's wrong?"

Naruto hardened his gaze, realizing that only certain people could sense it; perhaps his ability to sense the strange anomaly was due to his mastery of sage mode; nonetheless, the Shinobi answered her question.

"You'll find out eventually."

Author Note: Chapter 2 is done. Now to address some of the questions being asked.

Abhin Manoharan: I agree that Guizhong is really cute, she's probably having a cheerful persona too! Nonetheless, I could see a pairing of Naruto and her happening…but I'll keep that a secret for now and focused in other aspect first, I mean if we think about it, the Naruto verse is more advanced compared to the GENSHIN verse, so I can see how their relationship goes with each other, perhaps a certain bird and a granny cough cough Madame Ping to be jealous.

Kamikaze Corporation: Thanks for the feedback, I agree with you, the archon war is probably one of the many interesting events in Genshin Impact, and this is probably the only fic that has the arc covered. Seeing how hype everyone is, I hope I will deliver but please bear in mind since we can only be assumed by the theories, I might probably not be that much more accurate with the archon war.

NragedEnforcer: Thanks for the feedback mate, I'm thinking of having Naruto and Ganyu interaction whilst also involving some other Yakshas too. And unfortunately,I can't promise anything with Makoto.

Gold General Leo: I'll see what I can do.

Tera12: You'll be surprised with what I'm about to do hehe

Stormbringer080302: I believe this chapter answered your question, but yeah, he will eventually go to other regions, meeting the other Archons…even the other Gods…as for the appearance of Havria, she should at least look like this ( /wallpaper/swd3e2-thigh-strap-anime-girls-silver-hair-elbow-gloves-blue-eyes-crown-black-dress-dress-cuffs-slee-1294639)

AetherialQ: I hope I do not disappoint you!

Redlox2: Heyya thank you for visiting my story! I also enjoy reading yours and I hope you'll update more chapters! And yeah, I agree with you, the archon war is the most hyped about genshin impact, unfortunately there's nothing much to see…perhaps we will be able to see more from the upcoming Genshin Impact anime? Nonetheless, I hope I won't disappoint you or anyone as the story progress.

Shadower18: I'll give it one hint…they're petrified.

Before I end the chapter, I appreciated that everyone supported and seems to have been enjoying reading this fic If there are more questions needed to be asked, feel free to drop by more reviews, and if you find this story enjoyable drop by a follow and a favourite.
